The study room has been completely redone. The door is locked, and beside the locked door, Katrina sits on an old wooden stool with a crooked smirk on her face. The second-year is wearing a plain grey, long-sleeved shirt and jeans, a pair of simple black slip on shoes on her feet. Her auburn hair is loose, hanging down, the teal streak in it recently dyed. As people begin to enter the hallway that leads to the door, Katrina sits frozen, hazel eyes ahead and unmoving, almost like a statue.

As the last participant waits outside the room, Katrina finally turns her head, surveying the club members she has invited today. "Welcome to the first ever Scavenger Hunt Club meeting!" Katrina sits perched on the top of the stool, still unmoving. "Inside this behind this door, you will see that I have completely redone the room," Out of her pocket, Katrina draws a small silver key.

"Before I let you in, you should know what you are looking for. Your first clue is:
I have legs but I cannot run
I have a back but I don't stand straight
I sometimes have arms but I don’t have any hands
What am I?
"

With no more words to say, Katrina slides off the stool and places the key in the door handle. Dramatically, she twists it, allowing the lock to click before placing her hand on the handle. With one more look over her shoulder, she swings the door open, allowing her attendees to take a look at the room.

The study room wooden floor has been recently swept, not a speck of dust lingers on the ground. The window on the far side is just as clean, looking out to a bright sunny day. Even through the rest of the room seems spotless the same old curtains are pulled to either side. Four candelabras hold lit candles, each gold base shining. In the corner opposite the door, there is a small wooden table with two brown plush chairs (Say chair a or b). In another corner is a desk with three drawers (say drawer 1 2 or 3) with three itemson top (say item 1 2 or 3). In the opposite corner is two tall bookshelves (Say a or b). There is a rug with the colors of each house in the center of the room under a table holding a vase of flowers.

"Let the scavenging begin!"

How does this work?
Choose any of the items bolded in the modpost (mysterious not bolded things are actually not a clue, so don't waste a turn looking at it) and at the end of each post be sure to state your action. (Such as 'Investigating stain on wall' or 'Looking under the umbrella' these are not actual clues!) Beware that some bolded things actually have no clue hidden or there might not be something hidden in one round but might be there the next (for the sake of someone finding the last clue or something) When someone finds a clue, it will be in the form of a slip of paper with some words on it that lead to the next clue.

Be sure to owl Katrina Walker with any questions. Let the Hunt begin!

Here is the layout for the beginning of the game, people in the corridor are in no particular order.

Mars fidgeted with their wand as they stood outside the door to the study. Beside them were four other wixes. Mars recognized May and Adonis but the other two were foreign to them.

Should we do introductions? they wondered, but before they could contemplate any further, Katrina cleared her throat, turning the Ravenclaw's attention from the people around them to the lioness. Oh well. They could probably introduce themselves along the way.

"Welcome to the first ever Scavenger Hunt Club meeting!" Katrina chirped. Her eyes were alight and there was a crooked smile on her face, "Inside this behind this door, you will see that I have completely redone the room."

Mars smiled at her. It was evident that Katrina was exceptionally excited for this event. In all honesty, Mars was too. There had been a light thrum of anticipation rolling in their gut from the moment they'd signed up. They watched as the Gryffindor pulled a silver key slowly from her pocket. They smirked. Dramatic effect, indeed.

Before she slotted it into the keyhole, however, Katrina turned over to the participants.

"Before I let you in, you should know what you are looking for. Your first clue is:
I have legs but I cannot run
I have a back but I don't stand straight
I sometimes have arms but I don’t have any hands
What am I?"

Ah, the clue. Mars turned it over in their head as Katrina fit the key into the lock and twisted it open. Inside, the study room had been cleaned completely, carefully placed objects scattered around the room.

Mars didn't pay much mind to the other contestants. They didn't go in right away, trying to think over what the clue could mean. At the word "hands," they automatically thought of a clock. It was a pretty standard answer for a riddle after all. But glancing around the room once more, there was nothing of the sorts. Hmm.

Legs but cannot run. Arms but no hands. Back but no standing. Mars put a finger to their chin. Back but no standing, no standing then—sitting? They peeked back into the room. There were two chairs surrounding a small wooden table in the far corner. Hmm, maybe. It fit the clue pretty well. Regardless, they had no other lead.

Striding in, they wondered if they should maybe catch Adonis or May's arm and ask them if they could check the other chair for them. They decided against this, however. The two other wixes could figure it out for themselves.

Padding over to the table set, they eyed the chair on the left. Stooping down, they began to feel around its cushions.

Ok May, you do this. You know you are good at putting in clues. You are intelligent.
Ok. She was probably being over selfish. But what? She needed self motivation before entering that super-cool scavenger hunt her friend Katrina Walker was hosting. Really, she was thinking of going back to her nice and cozy common room by the kitchens.

When she entered the Study Room. (well, she didn't enter it, since Katrina hadn't opened the door. But still...) She looked at two familiar faces. Katrina and Mars. Ok, she had met them both...yes, Katrina was in the Rehearsal Room and Mars in the Charms Classroom. They both shared a great and fun time together. But Alas, May didn't want to spoil the fun. She didn't even say a warm hello as she looked into Mars expectant and thoughtful face and Katrina's smirk.

"Well, it's obvious int it?" May said, in spite of herself. "It has something to do with that chair over there...or maybe..." May stopped dead. That was a difficult one, she had to admit. But she wouldn't give up for the world. She entered the room without another word and went to look at chair B.

"Ok May. Just search for the clue and finish with it!

SAPPHIRE STOOD SLIGHTLY APART FROM THE GROUP. She didn’t know any of the other people in the group. She fiddled with her hands, keeping her gaze to the floor.

Welcome to the first ever Scavenger Hunt Club meeting! Inside this behind this door, you will see that I have completely redone the room.” The Gryffindor certainly seemed chipper. Sapphire had never been to the study rooms, actually.

Katrina pulled a silver key out of her pocket dramatically, then went to the keyhole. Before she spotted it into the hole though, she turned to the participants. “Before I let you in, you should know what you are looking for. Your first clue is:
I have legs but I cannot run–
” Sapphire automatically thought table.
I have a back but don’t stand straight–” No, that wouldn’t work. A chair then?
I sometimes have arms but I don’t have any hands
What am I?

So a chair, Sapphire thought, almost certain of it. Katrina fit the key into the lock and twisted, allowing the door to be open.

Sapphire immediately looked to the chairs, which were in the right corner of the room. She headed over to them, examining the chair to the right. If she didn’t find anything on the surface, she’d search past that. She would find something. She hoped.

Adonis had rarely ever gone to the study room and the one time that he had before today ended up in him being attacked by swans and pinned against the wall due to Anastasia Beckett's horrid transfiguration spell. That was chaos on another level.Although, it was exciting and funny looking back on it now. This time though he had hope and faith in Katrina that it wouldn't turn into another chaotic experience for him at the study hall. At least he hoped so.

He walked up to all of the others that were already gathered in front of the study room, waving to them with a wave. "Hello- oh." Adonis quickly shut up as Katrina began speaking to all of them.

"Welcome to the first ever Scavenger Hunt Club meeting!" Katrina sat perched on the top of the stool, unmoving. "Inside this behind this door, you will see that I have completely redone the room," Out of her pocket, Katrina brought out a small silver key.

Adonis was excited to get this started. He had been waiting all day throughout classes to just speed over to the study hall to get the scavenger hunt started. The boy was curious to see what she had done to the study room and how she changed the inside of it. He had no idea what to expected it to look like but if he had been muggle, Adonis would've expected that but he wasn't, so.

"Before I let you in, you should know what you are looking for. Your first clue is:
I have legs but I cannot run
I have a back but I don't stand straight
I sometimes have arms but I don’t have any hands
What am I?"

As soon as Katrina had said the hint to all of them, Adonis instantly began thinking about it and wondered what it could be. It didn't take long though for him to finally come down to a decision of what it was. It seemed rather simple and he was confident in his pick, perhaps too confident.

Nonetheless, Adonis entered shortly after with the others to head into the room and see if what he thought it to be was actually it. He instantly began looked around to see if he could find his target that he had thought up of in his head.

Upon spotting one of the two chairs beside the wooden table, Adonis instantly went over to it and began searching under, inside, and around the chair in hopes to find something else alongside Mars.

Katrina had a permanent side smile on her face as her little club got to work. She quietly dragged the stool into the room to the side of the door and sat herself down, careful to not make any noise and distract. She had a little watch going to see how long it took for them to find each clue. The second year still wasn't quite sure if the clues would be too easy or too hard and was making mental notes for what to do differently next time.

"Well, it's obvious isn't it?" May stated, almost immediately, "It has something to do with that chair over there...or maybe…" The Hufflepuff trailed off in thought, ideas clearly racing through her head.

First, Mars investigated one of the chairs with an idea in mind, running their fingers in the cushion crevasses and feeling for clues. Sadly, there are no hidden clues there. Instead they would find a forgotten quill, plain in all of feathered glory. No clue there, just a simple forgotten school supply. If someone were to see Katrina, they might notice the bewildered expression, hopefully they wouldn't think the quill was a clue.

May and Sapphire both went for the second chair. Katrina was careful to not show her disappointment, it seemed her riddles weren't as complex as she thought. But perhaps it was simply chance, it was too early for one to tell.

Adonis would join Mars investigating the chair, steely determination in his eyes. Sadly, there was nothing for him to find there.

May would inspect the backside of the chair and see a tip of white from the underside of it. After further investigation, she would see that there was a slip of paper attached to the bottom of the chair. With a soft tug, the paper would come loose revealing the first clue.

Katrina looked back at the door, was she missing someone? Hopefully they were just late coming in, it would be sad if their group wasn't full.

As May searched the chair, she found a little paper. There, it was. The next clue. My, my I'm already doing good in this game. Let's see the next one...aha! Yep, bookshelves indeed. <<Hey guys I found the clue!>>she said, waving the little paper into the air and read it aloud. It was obvious, wasn't it? The bookshelves, She makes way to the bookshelves and, proud of herself, kept the little clue in her hand. She searched and searched though the bookshelves. Would she win? Would she win this Scavenger Hunt? Last time she remembered, somebody else had won it. And she was little, so she wasn't so intelligent as before. As May searched through the bookshelves, she saw it was real dark. Taking out her wand, she searched bookshelf A. <<Lumos>> she whispered, and the wand made light into the way. Somehow, she felt like it was there. Like a clue detector.

She rummaged into books, looking sometimes into some of them, and...searching. Well, this Scaveger Hunt is fun. May thought. Yes, and more if it's Kat that hosts it. The clues aren't so difficult anyways. They're just...half minded.

Well, Sapphire didn't see it. A little bit closer to May, and she would've had it right on cue.

Now, May hoped that nobody would follow her to the bookshelves. It was a bit obvious that the next clue was in one of the two of them.

SAPPHIRE’S EXPRESSION TWISTED INTO A SCOWL WHEN MAY FOUND THE NOTE. Still, she listened to the clue.

Isn't it neat how educational this school can be? Nothing about this clue particularly stuck out to her. Education came in many forms. She supposed it could relate to books, so she glanced towards the shelves. May was already examining them, wand lit as she checked the shadows.

Sapphire grumbled a bit to herself, then looked to see if there was any other possible place. She didn’t find anything. The table, maybe, but that didn’t seem like a good hiding place. She sighed before walking over to the bookshelves. She gazed into the blackness of the other shelf, staying away from other life forms as she focused on looking.

She ran careful fingers over the wood as she looked, ashy-grey dust coating her fingers. She could see alright, but that was probably because she spent so much time reading in the dark. She checked some books, in between them, just trying to find the clue. She was doing this for the fun of it, but she was always extremely competitive. It was probably one of her greatest flaws.

Lyrics played over in her head as she searched, a constant little thing that she couldn’t stop. She hummed a little, but then she stopped. She didn’t feel like agitating anyone would do her any good.

Well, wasn't it just their luck that they'd picked the wrong chair. Luckily, May had been kind enough to read the clue out loud.

"Isn't it neat how educational this school can be?"

Hmmm. The first thing they thought about was Transfiguration. That class scared the hell out of them in very sense of the word. They'd hardly be able to pass with an O without pestering various people and skimming through multiple textbooks. Textbooks. Ah.

They glanced up at the bookshelves. Unfortunately, in the split second it had taken them to come to that conclusion, May and the other girl—a white-haired witch—had already split off to both bookshelves. May had her wand out, the tip alight with the pale-yellow glow of Lumos. They hoped she wasn't getting it too close to the pages. They'd hate to see a fire spoil Katrina's carefully planned game.

Sighing, they decided it would be far more interesting to search something that wasn't already being picked clean by other wixes. The second thing that came to mind at the word "education" was certainly the writing aspect. While they cared far more for the wand-play portion of class, they didn't hate writing. It was a chance to flaunt their stuff and possibly earn extra house points. Nothing boosted their self-esteem more than extra credit.

They headed off to the desk, skimming the surface with their eyes before ducking down to check the underside. Hopefully—if this wasn't like a muggle school—there wouldn't be any bubblegum staring them in the face.

Adonis perked his head up at first when Mars pulled out the quill but then put it back down once he noticed it was practically nothing. A shame. In the end, they were greeted with no clues at the current moment from the chair they chose to search.

A grunt escaped his lips until they were fortunate enough to have May say the clue. Hmph. That was a dumb move on her part to say the clue aloud to be honest. Not even Adonis would've done that, but then again he was a Slytherin and people probably expected that of him.

Upon hearing the clue, Adonis wasn't sure what to exactly make of it. There was plenty of things the school had to offer that made it educational. Ranging from the vast history of this very castle to the Headmaster's Office. Everything was somehow educational in it's own way with the history and context it provided if you looked into it. Adonis watched as Sapphire and May both went over to either bookshelf and searched them, which he would've too but he didn't feel like doing the same as them.

His eyes drifted directly across the room and over his shoulder towards where Mars was, or just beside them at least. The three items that were placed on the table. Perhaps they could be something? Adonis walked over to the items and began searching around Item B. He hoped this item was some type of old historical one that would be deemed 'educational', just so that he could maybe find the next clue. It was worth a shot even if it wasn't.
