Marigold is just a green-thumb, nature-enthusiast girl since she was a kid. Her fascination with plants had began long before she even discovered she have magic coursing in her veins. To her, every existing flower bed, climbing vines, herb patches, and fruit bushes seemed to hold a story and meaning that is waiting for her to discover and understood. Unlike other children, she find herself happiest with the soil and dirt nurturing the small saplings that will eventually bloom and grow beautifully when time passed by. And because of that, her parents decided to built her a small garden where she could actually grow plants and other flowers and herbs.
They encouraged her curiosity instead of just teaching her how to grow and take care of plants. They also asked her questions instead of just giving her an outright answer which helped in cultivating her careful observations. Why did one flower bloomed earlier than other? Which herbs preferred the shade instead of direct sunlight? How can two plants grow side by side but still require different amounts of water? It was some of the questions swarming in her mind, but it was also one of the reasons as to why she ended up developing a habit of keeping a small notebook that served as her journal log filled with sketches of the plants and other details like the soil conditions, watering schedules, and other observations per season as months passed by.
As she reach the age of ten, tending to her garden is like a normal part of her day. In fact, she spent most of her free time there if not reading books or doing assignment from her classes in primary school. It isn’t taxing or straining to her opinion, in fact, she had learned many things because of her small garden. She had learned patience by the slow-growing plants that do demands care for months before being rewarded with a small, single blossom. She also learned resilience especially when harsh weather would end up damaging her garden. Because of the countless hours of repotting, watering, pruning, and nursing plants back to health, she had gained that instinctive understanding that a healthy growth can never happen if it’s rushed.
By the time Mari received a Hogwarts letter and had began preparing for the fact that she is, in fact, going to a magic school, she had tried her best to at least prepare herself. She had studied the Herbology book most, feeling so much interested in learning every plants and new flora that is magic-related despite the cluelessness and challenges it imposes. So from all of her classes, she was the most confident with Herbology, as she had spent countless afternoons of quiet study, soiled hands, filled journals, and lifelong appreciation to the living world and the nature surrounding her.

Gaia loves a lot her bunny, Agatha. She always loved pets, especially bunnies and cats, even if it is pretty a ironic choice, since they are really different kind of pets. Cats are predators, bunnies are prey.
And maybe because of this, her inner conflict, have a bunny now is something really peculiar. In all her life, at home with grandma, she was surrounded by cats. Now, at Hogwarts, she found a bunny to take care.
Gaia didn’t want to be a prey, but neither a predator, so decided to teach to Agatha how to help fight for her life, and Gaia sake also, in difficult situations.
Returned at Hogwarts, in her second year, she started to training Agatha.
The bunny was initially very stubborn. Agatha didn’t react good at her lessons, and started to act pretty rude; she bitten Gaia many times.
Gaia was wondering if someone got so many bites by a bunny, like her…
Gaia tried to convince Agatha with some sweet fruits and other goodies for bunnies.
She also bought herself some special ones at Diagon Alley. Some of them was really expensive!
“Damn, so many money for some bunnies snacks…”, she thought many times.
But didn’t say nothing, didn’t complain with nobody.
But she had to admit to herself that something she really cried a lot in her bed, in night, meanwhile Agatha was licking her tears.
Two weeks passed, and Agatha improved only a bit.
Gaia sit down one day with her, on the grass, and started to talk, maybe by herself, maybe to her bunny, maybe both: - I always believed that there are not limits to what one, person or else, can do in their life. My parents taught me that with a lot of efforts, strategy, and patience, everything is possible. I was sometimes sceptical about that… but I want to believe that it is true, that also you can fight back your opponents and help me, in case of danger. So, Agatha, I won’t give up with you.
Gaia spent another week, before to obtain some other, but more important, results.
Agatha became more obedient, and with jumps and bites, she was able to dodge and attack, without run away or being rude with Gaia.
Gaia was really happy, and her affection and relationship with Agatha grew stronger.
Her little bunny was able now to fight a bit, and with more time, both would have to improve.

I did not proofread this, so the grammatical errors must be very painful.
This summer break is becoming thoroughly uneventful.
Aurelia Valentine made a blunder of finishing all her summer homeworks the other night, unable to savour the very task of accomplishing every assignment, poring over books that are usually haphazardly cracked open atop her mattress. Which is somewhat uncharacteristic, as the young badger always makes it a point to prolong answering said homeworks to relish the satisfaction of diligence.
Presently, there is no waiting assignment to fulfil. Of course, she has hobbies to be leisurely lost into like reading books which genres she exhaustively peruse and skim in her own time, or writing poetry and nonsensical but short prose. House chores are all taken care of, done before the clock hands strike noon, and ahead of time too. Whenever the young Valentine is back home in their house in Croydon, she is like a hurricane, a blur of unspent energy. Devouring all the textbooks a million of times now like a woman possessed, there is nothing novel to hold her attention now.
After pestering her mother for days, she went back to Hogwarts for summer camp. However, she is not entirely present; sneaking into the castle at certain times to visit the Library and study relentlessly, believing a head start in education is essential. The girl covered all subjects and electives she is meaning to take this school year, and she is utterly pleased with herself.
Discussions about duelling is a whole different subject entirely. It is a sport she can tell she could not pin down to perfection, with losses that decorated her arsenal. Whether it is her fault or not, that does not matter, as they are still her losses and her flaw, which she bear like a cross on her shoulders.
Thus, she borrowed books from the Library, tackling Duelling.
Slinking in the Duelling Club room, she practised to her heart's content, an open book cradled in her non-dominant arm. Executing the spells in quick succession, Aurelia Valentine felt like there is something missing, deep in her heart it tugs from the subconscious part of her mind.
"Tarantallegra!"
"Flipendo!"
"Incendio Duo!"
This spell conjured incredible green flames, casting green shadows that swallowed up the room. Her deep brown eyes bulged out of her sockets when it split, one hitting the dummy and the other hitting the far end of the piste. What was that? Is that the mere power of the Fire-Making Spell?
With books and tomes spread out around her on the piste, she flopped down and flipped pages like her life demanded on it, her eyes skimming thick texts in such speed that her vision blur. It is not the superiority of the spell however, but it is a technique honed by proper duellists ahead of her time. She memorised paragraphs after paragraphs about aforementioned technique that she can almost recite them in her sleep. Nonetheless, memorisation does not mean perfection and executing it the very first time she wills herself to do it.
It took her days, almost a week to do it again.
Reliving the feeling of performing it the first time, Aurelia executed the method successfully, but aiming it had been a hard feat that took her another whole set of days to perfect.
No one will be able look down upon her for being a half-blood if she became a powerful witch altogether, feared and regarded as someone that can conquer the Wizarding World someday. She will start with duelling; conquer the piste like the young badger really meant it.

Rules are made to be broken. An unethical approach to many, vile even. One that her own mother never supported and, as expected from someone who valued morality so highly, advised Miren against. But alas, as much as Miren loved and respected her mother, this was something she couldn’t accept. Not when it was the very thing that killed her in the end. Because, just maybe, had the woman used more malice when facing Dark Wizards, she would still be here today. Maybe then her daughter would believe in an ethical approach at all costs.
Miren always knew where her mother was coming from. Had everyone played by the rules, the world would have been a better place. However, despite understanding, she didn't see it as anything but wishful thinking. A mere dream that could never come true. Not with the human race. People have always been selfish, greedy, dishonest, prone to cheating… And Miren? There was no denying Miren was just a human, too.
Like most kids, the girl has been testing boundaries even throughout her early childhood, with her mother still around. She has been figuring out how far she could go before anyone noticed, what gave her away, how different people reacted… Sometimes she felt bad, but only after being caught and seeing her mother's disappointed face. Even then, she never stopped, though. Instead, she worked on becoming better. Because if no one noticed, her mother would have no reason to be disappointed.
From lying to her father to avoid another one of his anger outbursts to cheating during games or at school, she has tried it all. And the longer she did it, the better she became at it. Dishonest words slipped out of her mouth quickly and smoothly, deceit turned natural. Over the years, Miren has nearly perfected her crooked ways.
And once her mother died at the hands of a Dark Wizard? It was probably at this point that she stopped feeling bad for cheating whatsoever because this event only solidified the young girl’s belief. If one wanted to reach their goals, to survive, there was no place for niceties and fair play. It was naive to believe people would stick to the rules in a world full of cheaters, and stupid to do so yourself. And so Miren didn’t. Without her mother's moral guidance, there was nothing holding her back anymore. Lies or foul play, everything was fine as long as nobody noticed.

Link to your encyclopedia thread: Ambrose Donnovan
Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Wandmaker
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):ReducioWord count: 420Ambrose’s father was acquainted with a wandmaker, a private craftsman who did not hold official recognition but was highly proficient in his art. The man, who also possessed seer powers and could read his customers well, crafted extraordinary wands for those who knew where to find him and were prepared to pay his price. This off-the-tracks wandmaker lived in solitude somewhere in China, and Ambrose travelled there with his father to acquire a custom-made wand. Needless to say, it cost a fortune, but for the Donnovan family that was no issue.
Length – 23.1 cm
(71/50 words)
Ambrose is a rather refined person. Growing up in a wealthy family, he had every opportunity to become loud and needy. He did inherit many traits of spoiled children, but liveliness and a tendency towards the dramatic were not among them. He has always preferred to stay on the fringes of the action, either observing it or working from the shadows to influence it. Hence a shorter wand would choose him.
Core – Thestral Tail Hair
(76/50 words)
It would not be entirely correct to say that Ambrose attracts death, a more fitting description is that he is attracted to it. Although death never truly found him in his early life, he found himself looking for it. He has always been drawn to forbidden things, things that are not meant to be known, especially not by ordinary people. As he seeks it, this wand core calls specifically to him, with its aura of demise.
Wood – Elder
(120/50 words)
On the surface, Ambrose tries to present himself as someone who knows his worth, is confident, and is remarkable simply through his presence. This, unfortunately, contrasts with how he truly sees himself. Internally, he believes he is, worst of all, ordinary, and that is precisely why he tries so hard to appear otherwise. Contrary to his belief, a grand destiny is written for him, and when an elder wand chose him – a wand notoriously picky with its owners and known to choose only the truly extraordinary – the reputation of the wand’s wood left his mind increasingly clouded with thoughts and doubts about what awaits him. Yet, prone to pessimism, he still believes the wand made a mistake in choosing him.
Flexibility – Unyielding
(62/50 words)
Ambrose has very strong core beliefs that guide his everyday life, and he does not tend to waver. Put simply, he doesn’t change his mind easily. As someone who believes in paving his own path in life, he has already planned precisely how it is supposed to go, and would rather follow his wanderings alone, without interference or influence from other people.

The old superstition, ‘wand of elder, never prosper,’ has its basis in this fear of the wand, but in fact, the superstition is baseless, and those foolish wandmakers who refuse to work with elder do so more because they doubt they will be able to sell their products than from fear of working with this wood. The truth is that only a highly unusual person will find their perfect match in elder, and on the rare occasion when such a pairing occurs, that the witch or wizard in question is marked out for a special destiny. Prodigal Charms:Lily had been born a muggleborn and she had always wondered why weird things happened whenever she had a strong emotion. Who when she got the letter to join Hogwarts, she accepted it happily. Her first year at Hogwarts was very...eventful. She learned she had a cousin, Colin McCoire, and that he and his brother were attacked by werewolves. This made her want to learn more charms. Sure DADA could help and she did study that but charms could also help just as much. But then her second month in her first school year she battled the dark arts and fought for her life at the Fairietale Endings ball. A hag doll tried to take Lily's life to make her own real. At that point Lily wanted to learn more than ever to keep herself and her muggle family safe, because DADA and charms went in hand in hand. When she came home for the summer, she spent a lot of time in her room, reading about second year spells. However, when her parents passed in a car crash Lily put a pause on studying as she went to the funeral and got herself acclimated to her new family, the McCoire's.
When she went to her second year in Hogwarts, she picked her studying back up. After her classes, she spent a lot of time in the library reading, studying, and taking notes on third year spells and fourth year spells. Her adoptive family barely saw her in Hogwarts. She spent some time with Colin, Liam, Ci, and Cursa but not a lot as she was more focused on her studying. Finally after a lot of studying, Lily started to practise the spells in the classroom when no one was there. She spent hours trying each spell and studying what she may or may not have done correctly. It even carried on into her third year of studying. Eventually after weeks and months of studying, practicing, and taking notes Lily was learning third year spells. Her willingness to learn was to protect her family that she has now. Colin and Lily were just processing the loss of her parents, the return of Liam and the mystery of why these werewolves were targeting Liam. Which was why Lily applied for Prodigal Charms. She needed to know things ahead of her so she could help them in their missions. People think Charms is a 'soft' option, but in Lily's own opinion charms can be just as helpful as any other subject.
Wandless Magic:Lily Isobel McCoire had always been terrible at relying on one thing. In her opinion that one thing could change in an instant. And that scared her so much. Being reliant on one thing can get you seriously hurt or killed. And Lily wanted to everything in her power to prevent that. So when she thought about her wand being the one and only thing that she could use to cast magic, she decided she needed to do something about that. She had known about wandless magic since her second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and she decided that for her fourth year she was going to practice as much as she could. That way if something happened to her wand, she wasn't completely one hundred percent *powerless*. Since Lily was nothing but stubborn, she decided she was going to start practicing right away. Especially since Hogwarts was known for the craziness there. I mean look at Lily's first year. That dear Hag Doll took her wand and tried to use dark magic with it. Granted nothing Lily could do about that since she was unconscious when it took her wand. But still that was not the point. The point was that Hogwarts is insane and she doesn't want to put all her eggs in one basket so to speak. She started to practice at the family house in Scotland over the 2024 summer. She was sad when it was time to leave Hogwarts and she had not gotten it down yet. So when she arrived at the school, Lily went to the library and pulled out every book on wandless magic she could find, and started to read. She even enlisted the help of her brothers. She did this after class ended every day and in October she started to practice the theory. She would practice privately during class, during lunch break hours, after class, anywhere she could find the time. At about mid- November, Lily finally got it down. All she had to do was concentrate on the spell she wanted to use and say the incantation, snapping her fingers at the same time. Now she was no longer reliant on her wand, so if some nutcase here at the school decided to get mad at her and break her wand, she had a backup. She was so excited that she had managed to make it work.

It's no secret that Harumi is a half blood, a child of two very different and conflicting worlds. Her mother a pure blood witch, and her father a muggle, not even a muggle-born, no, he's a muggle, the absolute opposite of her mother.
Like any other child, she mimicked a lot of what her parents did, but being a child and without a wand, she couldn't command magic like her mother, so she had to rely on her own power, and instead of ordering around house elves, not that they had any, she mimicked her father and did everything without magic, it wasn't that hard anyway with muggle technology simplifying everything.
Since the girl was keen on helping anyone and everyone from a young age, even without magic, you'd find her making pancakes and burning them multiple times in a row, until she at some point knew by instinct when it's time to flip it. Making pancakes obviously isn't the only thing she can do, she learned how to fix random objects, small mechanical toys, torn stuffed animals, or ruined drawings.
Her father being a muggle played the biggest role in it, he'd be fixing something for the hundredth time, and Harumi would watch. Although Harumi's mother never understood anything muggle, she also encouraged Harumi to learn more about muggle technology, mainly because Harumi was too curious for her own good and if she's not distracted with muggle things, she'll find her mother's magical things, and that's probably not a good idea.
Coming to Hogwarts should have changed that, after all, everyone here uses magic like they drink water, losing your wand here isn't a small inconvenience, it effectively locks you out of activities and even everyday routine. However, after all this time spent doing things the muggle way, she doesn't just wave her wand to solve her problems, she uses her brain to think of solutions that don't involve magic, sometimes because it's easier in the muggle way and sometimes because she forgot she has magic, and with all the technologies and techniques muggles invented, it honestly wasn't that hard
When Purebloods would be limited to thinking about magical solutions for their problems, Harumi would be thinking for any solution, muggle or magical, her principle is whatever gets the job done is the perfect solution. And so, while other students use the cleaning charm to clean for example, Harumi just uses her hands by default, until she realizes she can actually use magic. Or maybe they use the Levitation charm to bring something to themselves, Harumi just walks to it and brings it herself, the Levitation Charm is too uncertain, she'll accidentally drop the object.
In many many more ways, Harumi would favour the non-magical solution for convenience, because she good at doing it the muggle way, so why risk using magic?

Paul was a practical person. His creativity, therefore, only existed in a rather small amount, which was, moreover, restricted to thinking, creating judgements and comparing things. It was not that little after all, however, it did not suffice for that much of a performance either. He was left to envy those blessed individuals who were kissed by an artistic muse.
There was a stage in his childhood, at the Muggle school, when he wanted to be creative in the artistic sense of the word. He wanted to be able to paint and draw beautiful pictures, and play musical instruments. He wanted to be able to hear the rythm in songs, remember their melody for a longer time than two minutes. And last but not least, he really craved for a visit of a writing muse, the one that led your pen across a paper, for he had always had a lot to say. Not only opinions, but also mysteries he came across.
Sadly, he was a dysgraphic and a slight dyslexic, so writing was not really an option for him. He hated it. He highly disliked teachers who were mostly not providing an alternative to taking notes in lessons. The fact that electronic devices, such as voice recorders, which he needed really, really bad, didn't work or only worked for a couple of minutes before they went low on battery, did not help at all either.
Although Paul did not realise it, there was a bright side to all the writing and reading calvary. Having trouble writing and reading, he had to learn to remember a significant amount of stuff said by the teachers in the lessons. His memory wasn't inflatable, apparently, but it was very well trained and hopfully, nowhere near completely full yet. The two of the most hideous skeletons in his closet were, therefore, turning into his biggest weapon on a daily basis, enhancing his intellect.
One of the things that it infested itself in, was learning new spells. Though in his first few weeks, he was rather timid as far as magic was concerned, he soon got the grip of casting spells, learning how to handle his wand, learning spells easily admittedly, also started gradually falling for magic.
The spells produced by him in the duels and games he took part in scarcely went wrong. He was simply good... good at doing magic. Thus, he enjoyed it very much, always being excited to learn new spells.
At least something you're good at, Paul, ran through the boy's mind, as he drew his wand. He was about to start practicing one of the Transfiguration spell they learned.

Magic surrounded Draven. All his life, it had ebbed and flowed through the air, pulsed in the walls of his home. It thrummed in his veins, warm and explosive, ever present. It sat curled up in Draven's chest, a dormant beast lying above his heart. As the boy had grown older, it had grown stronger.
Summers were a special sort of hell. Draven had learned to accept the itch that came with them as inevitable. The beast grew irritable in its confinement during that time. It stretched and clawed at the inside of Draven's skin, making itself known, demanding to be released for even just a moment. Sparks would fly, fire would grow wild. Things that definitely shouldn't have been floating began to hover around him, orbiting the boy like he was the center of an odd, kitchen-themed universe.
Criminal as it was, Draven couldn't bear it sometimes. Working at Gladrags over the summers saved him. He could use the magical energy of the town to hide from underage casting enforcement, and practice to his heart's content. Of course, SOME degree of subtlety was required, but long stretches of time spent manning the store alone meant no danger of getting caught.
It was under the cover of night that the itch returned. When Draven was sequestered to his tent, no good reason to cast nor plausible explanation to offer. Hours stretched on for millennia. Each movement of the clock's hand came as a small relief.
At first, he'd agreed with the ministry decision. As a kid, he'd had no reason to cast outside of school. But with each year passing by, being stripped of the tools every wizard needed to navigate society became more and more cumbersome. The rebellion came little by little. A Lumos here, an Accio there. The occasional Aqua Fervens. He grew bolder as time passed. Having to hide his casting was a struggle, then a habit, then a game.
He tucked his wand in his sleeve. Whispered incantations. Snuck away like a muggle kid sneaking a phone around. There was a thrill to it, sharp and vivid. It ran through him like a live wire, spurring him on. Each 'near-miss' made him seek the next.
It was from the rebellion that his ability began to form. Unconsciously at first- accidental magic he'd grown able to recognize and predict. An object hovering just before it could smash against the ground, or a cup of tea growing warm in his hands. The control came slowly and stubbornly. He tried to work without incantations, but the beast ignored him.
It did as it pleased unless given instructions.
Even with instructions, the results were unpredictable. Sometimes, it would barely rouse from its perch. On other occasions, it would spring forward with frightening speed and power, the rage of a storm welling up at the tips of Draven's fingers. It bit, and it clawed, and it scratched, demanding the familiar comfort of the wand. But Draven had nothing but time. Time, patience, and a point to prove.
In the long hours spent alone, which often made him wonder how in the world Gladrag's stayed in business, Draven practiced. The advantage to wandless magic was that he could hide it quicker. Didn't have to scramble to shove away a wand, for the wand was already tucked in his boot. His progress was torturous but constant. The spite-fueled obsession helped keep his practice consistent.
By the end of the summer, Draven couldn't call himself a master caster. In fact, he couldn't even call himself a decent one. But the seed for growth had been planted, and the boy intended to continue watering it.

ReducioWhy it fits: As a girl, Madeline always loved to read and to learn as much as she can. Before going to Hogwarts, she would read through all of the books that her parents had in their home, and as many books as she could from her local library. Madeline’s first year at Hogwarts was extremely exciting for her, and very beneficial. She loved learning all that she could in all of her different classes. Her first year was very busy with all of her classes, and meeting new people, and the ball. It has always been Madeline’s goal to be the strongest and best student that she can be. Because of her desire to be the best student possible she was extremely frustrated and disappointed in her own performance in her first year at Hogwarts when she received her first “Exceeds Expectations” in her Defense Against the Dark Arts class. She spent the rest of the year studying extra hard and making sure that she did not slip up in her studies. She was determined that she would not receive anything lower than an Outstanding in her classes again.
As soon as her first year was complete Madeline went to her professor and requesting her reading schedule for the next year, and for the second year Syllabus. She is very excited to learn about things such as Dark Creatures, Spirits of the Dark – and especially her favorite, and what she has been desiring to learn most of all - The Whys and Wherefores of Dueling, Consequences and the Playing with Fire.
As soon as she saw that this class had anything to do with dueling, she found that her motivation for learning this course material increased exponentially. She was no longer motivated to study this material just to be the best student that she possibly could be – which was still a major part of her self-motivation – but she was motivated to learn the material in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class so that she could be a duelist and that she would be able to stand up for others when she finds a bully.
It has been Madeline’s motivation ever since she was a little child being bullied in her hometown, that she would become stronger and would be able to not only be able to stand up to her own bullies, and to also be able to stand up to bullies wherever she finds them. To this end she spent most evenings during her summer break studying her Defense Against the Dark Arts text book, and has committed herself to making sure that she studies her books and lessons each day – the same as she does with her Charms classwork.
