2026 Hogwarts Pride:
The Boat Parade
(Event, NOT Errand)
Image posted by the member
After having spent Saturday afternoon supervising the float-boat-making for Hogwarts' annual Pride Parade, Aly Salinger led the parade in her own boat out onto the lake on the afternoon of Sunday the fourteenth, a long line of boats behind her. The head of the parade, the boat Aly shared with her coconspirator @Charlotte Winfield (godmod perms given) was painted in stark rainbow colours, reading along its side: HAPPY PRIDE, HOGWARTS! The ombré of the rainbow shifted from letter to letter as they piloted their boat out onto the lake, thanks to a handy Flashing Paint Charm, and the head boat left a spray of feathers in various colours in its wake from the bright boas that had been attached to the stern.

The other boats followed behind, with their residents in no particular order:

Many of the parading students had come dressed in costume pieces, though that had not been mandatory! A few balloons from some of the floats were already beginning to hover magically over the Great Lake as the parade began. Some of the floats boasted signs or phrases, while others were design-forward instead, with flowers or hearts found in various places. Some of these boats were glittery, others matte; many of them had chosen to paint, colour-change, or hang flags in the hues of specific pride identities. Aly's boat boasted a handprint in pink, blue, and purple on the very front, for instance!

For those cheering on the parade from the rocky shores of the dark lake under the bright afternoon sun, the house-elves had set out many sets of multicoloured beads, other costume pieces like comically large sunglasses and feather boas, and of course a spread to rival a Hogwarts feast. The audience members could find snacks magically charmed to flash all different colours, as well as a rainbow fountain of ever-flowing Butterbeer, on the refreshments table! A sonograph nearby played loud Weird Sisters music, and everyone could gather to celebrate their Pride.
This thread is the follow-up mass thread for the Hogwarts Pride Boat Parade boat-making errand, but is not actually part of the errand. You do not need to have participated in the errand to join this, nor does this thread give any rewards or is moderated; it is simply a manner for you to say your character attended the parade, either in a boat (if you made one) or on the shores.

It was Elwyn’s first parade. However, he wasn’t unfamiliar with it since he knew his sister was bisexual, he just never got to go to one. He was very excited to see all the boats the creative witches and wizards created. Unfortunately, he wasn’t very good at painting and decorating so he was hesitant to participate.

When he got to the lake, there were already many many boats on the water. There were so many people surrounding the lake from the shores he couldn’t really see much but it was spacey enough that everyone could fit comfortably so he walked towards there to see what people were doing and to examine the boats better.

There was lots of rainbow beads, sunglasses, boas and other stuff. He found it funny, especially the sunglasses. The beads were surrounded by many people making bracelets which he thought was fun and wanted to make one too. He decided to wait a bit for people to leave that area and looked around for more. There was food, but he wasn’t really hungry at the moment even though it looked delicious. He thought about wearing sunglasses but then remembered the fact that HE HAS GLASSES. He always forgets!

He was kinda lost and didn’t know what to do, really. He poured some butterbeer to drink and watched the boats. It looked so cool and everyone’s boats looked different and colorful, he loved them. There were balloons and flags all around him. He felt someone putting a boa around his neck and flinched before realizing what it was. He didn’t see who gave it go him but he smiled. There were many people cheering and it was very loud but he didn’t really mind. Everyone there was so happy and positive.

He noticed some people trading the bracelets they made. He wanted to do that too! He glanced back towards the beads and saw that there was less people surrounding the, so he made his way there. He wanted to make one for his sister and a simple rainbow one too. He started with the rainbow one because he didn’t want to mess up the one for Flora. He was getting into when it stretched and the beads scattered around. He let out a sigh and crouched down to gather them. “This could only happen to me really. I didn’t see anyone breaking the bracelet!” He muttered under his breath, not realizing he’s talking out loud.

By the time Amalie reached the Great Lake, the parade was well underway. The lakeshore had never looked so colourful and bright. She jumped as one of the balloons suddenly burst with a loud pop, right beside her head. Startled, she turned to see a snickering kid running away. Oh well, no harm done.

She took her time, quietly taking in all the details. She had never been to a pride-related event or parade before. Now that she was finally attending one, she was glad she hadn't missed this to complete some homework or to read a book. The atmosphere was amazing, and everybody was so cheerful and happy. Amalie was dressed in a simple white tee and blue jeans with a rainbow-striped shirt over it. Yes, it was simple, but it showed her spirit! She picked up a pair of large sunglasses from among the other costume accessories and put them on to complement her outfit.

The boat parade was starting. The lead boat was painted in rainbow colours with "Happy Pride, Hogwarts" reading in a gradient on the side. The multitudes of colourful boats that followed, with their joyful passengers, made Amalie regret not having signed up to decorate one of her own. She filled a tankard of Butterbeer from the fountain and made her way closer to the shore. It was quite crowded, and she had to wander a while before finding a place to sit. She didn't mind. The slow walk gave her another excuse to admire the festivities.

Just as she was about to sit down, she noticed some people gathered a little further away from where she was now. They seemed to be making bracelets using the hundreds of colourful beads that were laid out for the purpose. Watching the other students exchange their finished bracelets, she decided she would try it out too. She finished the remainder of her Butterbeer, gave the glass to a passing house elf and picked her way through the crowd. She chose an assortment of beads in various shapes and colours and sat down to work on her bracelet. Halfway through, the sharp snap of a string caught her attention, and a handful of beads suddenly skittered across the grass nearby. She heard someone muttering and looked up to see a rather small boy with green hair crouching as he collected the beads. She stood to help him and gathered the remaining beads. She held out her hand, her fist closed around the beads. "Here you go. I think these are yours," she said with a gentle smile.
