The fact that his skin flushed when she hugged him did not go unnoticed, but as usual, she would observe without speaking about it. She knew that people often went red when they were embarrassed… Had she embarrassed him somehow? It was true Erik was blunt when he spoke, but it was one of the things that she appreciated about him. “I appreciate your blunt honesty. How honest you are with me is one of your redeeming qualities.” I let him too close just like I am letting you… Will you burn me in time? What made Erik different? Was it just a matter of time before playing with fire would burn her again? Was her pathetic want for a close circle of friends like she read about in her books just a fantasy?
When he started speaking about himself, she began to pay attention to him again, and he was correct, she knew he wasn’t from around here. She would not have guessed Norway, but she had also never been there before, so she didn’t know what they sounded like… Until she had met Erik anyway. When he mentioned that he wanted to be an Auror, her right eyebrow arched up in surprise. It was not something that she would have guessed for him. As he continued to explain his reasoning for Auror, it made sense that was why he wanted it. As he looked back at her, she could only offer him a small smile and a nod. "I think you would make a good Auror." He might not be a stickler for rules now, but that didn't mean he wouldn't grow into the position.
“My family is a bit split. Half of them are in Wicklow, Ireland, and the other half is in Southern France. My parents and I live in England, and that is why my accent changes sometimes. I do know what you mean about not having any other dream for your life. My lifelong dream is to be the best potions master known. I also want to learn how to heal properly, and although they are both passions of mine, potions are where my dedication holds. For a career, I want nothing more in life.” There were other things she wanted out of life, but if she were to learn from her lesson, she wouldn’t divulge that information to him just yet.

She complimented him for the way he was. San dared even say just because of his bluntness she liked him. Erik allowed a small smile to appear, if only to let her know that he was flattered by her compliment. You know it. The first of many you have discovered as of yet. I can promise you that. His smile only broadened as he spoke. Somehow she had a natural way of disarming him. He wasn't on his guard at all. He wasn't carefully picking and choosing his words as he normally did. It was... Refreshing. At this moment Erik didn't mind. Though in the back of his mind, he knew he had to be careful not to get hurt. Inflicting wounds was done a lot faster than one could think.
Later on he told her a bit more about himself. Not a whole lot. The basics for starters. He dared say he trusted her, but he didn't have to give away everything about himself right away. No, he would become dull then. He had to keep an element of mystery. Something to keep her wanting to know more about him. To try and figure him out. When he told her about him becoming an Auror she seemed somewhat sceptical, but nevertheless she smiled at him and confirmed something he already knew. That he would be fit for the job. That made return a goofy smile.
When she divulged and started to give some bits of information about herself some pieces of her puzzle fell in order. The werewolf had heard her accent change on a few occasions, but he had never spoken to her about it. He had just simply accepted it as a part of her. However, it seemed like Erik wasn't the only one with big dreams. It seemed San wanted to be renown for her potions. He knew her as precise, dedicated, headstrong and skilled. Four matching qualities for the career she wanted to pursue. Erik nodded as he spoke: That seems like the perfect fit for you alright. I'm sure you are going to amaze us all. Just you wait and see. Then his eyes fell on her bag again. Ah, it seems like we have forgotten about your photo album! Let's rectify that mistake shall we? As he made his way over to San and her bag he looked her in the eye as he spoke: May I? Gesturing at the bag to get out her photo album.

She smiled a very genuine smile when he agreed that being a potions master would be a perfect fit for her. She was happy that someone understood her ambition for her career. She knew that there would be many people who would have no idea what they wanted to be before they graduated, and others that would change what they wanted to be a hundred times over. Not her though, no, she was resolute in what she would be. “Thank you, I am sure you will be a renown Auror. After all, I know you can get anything you want as long as you put your mind to it.” She knew it to be true of the boy standing in front of her. If he really wanted to acquire something, she was certain it would only be a matter of time before it was his.
Then he mentioned her photo album and closed the distance between them faster than she had expected. “Oh uh... Yeah, of course. Just fair warning I have not decided if I am removing his photos from here yet or not so they are still in here.” She reached into her bag and produced the black leather-bound album and offered it to him. “While you look at this I will get my parcel out.” Assuming he took the album from her she would grab her small parcel, a letter, and walk over to an owl and get it all set to be sent off. “If you have any questions feel free to ask.”
Erik would see the photos starting in July of 2019 through November of 2019 some photos moved and some didn’t. The first photo was her with her parents and it was striking how she was her mother’s clone except for her eyes. Where her mother had striking emerald eyes much like Erik’s. It was her father’s sharp, inquisitive, sapphire eyes that she inherited. That would lead to some time spent at summer camp, the Hogwarts Express, a couple of photos of the grounds, and courtyard. They would continue to detail the time that she had spent at Hogwarts so far.

He wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else except for where he was now. A smile had appeared on Santario's face because of something he had said. Because of something he had done. He believed in her. If it would have broadened her smile Erik would have said it a hundred times more. The blond boy cherished this moment and took a mental picture. It was highly unusual for someone like him to make another person smile, so therefor yet another milestone the boy had achieved. Santario seemed to be a good influence for him. Whether he liked it or not was a very different matter. When she complimented him for a his headstrongness, a trait most would have labeled as annoying or hindering, she instead commended him for it. As he was too flustered to speak,he simply nodded.
As San mentioned him a shot of anger flared up, but as quickly as it had come up, he tempered it back down, just as quickly, with a deep breath of air. As she offered her photo album to him, he gently took it over in his hands. Erik handled the album with the utmost care. Like one would hold a baby for the first time. Scared of hurting it. As he flicked through the album he saw a plethora of different pictures. Ranging from her family, to her friends and her many adventures on Hogwarts. The amount of pictures was incredible. She had an eye for detail you could tell that just by solely glancing over the pictures. The werewolf recognised a lot of people, but not all of them. These are some impressive pictures! You look a lot like your parents I must say. The resemblance is striking. A bit scary even. Wow!, he spoke out loud. Erik silently wondered how much more similarities she had with her parents.
Anger took a hold of him as he saw pictures starring Kyle Derook and he had the sudden urge to rip the pictures of him apart, but luckily for him a voice of reason in the back of his mind seemed to calm him down. San was his friend. She had put her work in these pictures. As much as he disliked the person that the pictures were taken from he couldn't just do that. Instead, he quickly flicked through the pages in search of better pictures. Professors and students alike didn't seem to be safe from her Santario's camera. A set of pictures captured in the Slytherin Common Room made Erik laugh out loud. Oh, my god. I love these ones. My favorites by far, if you ask me. As he finished flicking through the remaining pictures he smiled and closed the album. As he turned towards her, he spoke. This is some incredible work, San. Really. I'm taken aback by your skill. I hope to see more of your work soon.

As he took the album from her, she noted the genuine care that he held for the book. It was impressive to see him not carelessly flip through the pages like some other people would have. She gave him time to look as she held her arm out for one of the owls waiting for it to hop on before walking over to the window and setting it on the ledge. She placed the parcel down and gave the owl a gentle pet before allowing it to take her package off into the afternoon sun. She watched it fly away with the film that would soon be developed and set back for her.
Her attention would be brought back to Erik as he spoke about how much she resembled her parents, and he was not wrong. She looked almost exactly like her mother except for the eyes. While her mother had emerald eyes, Santario inherited her father’s sapphire blue hues. “Yeah, I am the bane on my Grand-mère* when it comes to my looks. My mother is already kind of the black sheep of the family.” Which is why it made absolutely no sense that Satario was the one being groomed to be the eventual matriarch of the family.
She watched him flip a little faster through some photos, and it was easy to tell where he was in that book. Then he laughed, though, and that brought a smile back to her face. The common room photos with the squid were also easily some of her favorites. She didn’t expect to actually get the squid or a grindylow, but her flash apparently made them show up. As he turned to her, she was still smiling, maybe even brighter than before. “Thank you, I’m no professional, and I don’t think it would ever be something that I would do as a professional, but you can definitely look at my future albums!” Taking pictures was likely something that would always be a part of her life in one way or another.

Oh? I take it your grand-mère wasn't the biggest fan of your Irish upbringing then? Why do I have the strangest of feelings that, that particular upbringing isn't the typical way to raise those pure of blood? It wasn't a real surprise to hear. Most pureblood families had marriages for the sole reason to maintain this purity, but despite of this the pool of pureblood families kept on shrinking. Love was not an option. Some families just couldn't afford it if they wanted to keep the same bloodstatus. However, few were strong enough to hold on to their dignity as some of them decided that your bloodline didn't say everything about you. So, they married for love. Oh, how wrong they were. It still was as much an honor as a gift to be able to call yourself one of the select and lucky few who were despite everything still pure. Erik wondered as he looked Santario over. Who will you turn out to be? I can't help, but wonder. Each time he thought he was getting a picture of the person she was, she said or did something that proved him wrong. A riddle in a very pleasant disguise. That's what you are.
To be honest, I can see why your grand-mère would think that. Not only do you remind her of your mother, but I bet you've got some personality traits of hers as well which only solidify that thought . Nobody likes to have a rebel on their hands. The blond boy looked over at the raven haired girl. Well, except for me., he jokingly told her.
As not to come across as staring at the blue eyed girl he quickly looked the other way before looking back at her. It seemed she had graced him with a heartwarming smile once more. Santaria said he could certainly take a look whenever she had made some new pictures causing a grin to appear on his face from ear to ear. I'd like nothing more. Truly.

“Well marrying another pureblood was really the only thing that saved her with the de Clairmont side of the family. My aunt and uncle are both slightly of darker skin with hair like honey. My maman naturally looked quite different from the rest. She stuck out and did what she wanted. She refused to go to Beauxbatons and came here instead. She was headstrong, and nothing would stop her from getting what she wanted the moment she set her eyes on it. So really, my papa was a blessing.” Kind of anyway. She personally thought that she could do without the de Clairmont status, title, money, and political gains, but most would disagree, or she assumed someone like Erik would.
It was true though she and her mother shared a lot of traits. Both equally headstrong, stopping at nothing to claim what they wanted, and not taking no for an answer. She got her quiet nature and hyper-observation from her father. “My Irish grandparents while still pureblood and well off own a small bakery in their town. They live unassuming and humble lives, but their home is always full of warmth. Kind of like slipping into the comfort of a warm bath.” She conveniently left off the part on how they helped to hide muggleborns and their families during the last war. How would those venomous eyes look if he knew?
He grinned, proclaiming he would like nothing more than to see more of her work. “Anytime. Did you plan on heading back to the common room after you were done mailing your letter? I’m afraid I’ve quite derailed any plans you may have had.” She thought for a moment wondering if she had anything planned after this, but truth be told she couldn’t remember what they were if she had any. She didn’t think she forgot about a class or anything like that. Maybe she had just planned on studying.

Erik hung onto Santario's every word as she explained more about her family. This would reveal so much more about her. The way she spoke it seemed like her mother was quite the troublemaker and the one who had thrown all protocols and etiquette of a proper pureblood out of the window, just because she could. How admirable. How freeing it sometimes must be to just say: Screw it., he thought. It wasn't like Erik to break the proper etiquette at all as he knew the use of it in the first place, however, depending on the right circumstances he might do the very same as San's mother. He wasn't exactly a role model when it came to following the rules. One thing though he understood all too well. He would have to marry another pureblood. It wasn't a choice. That choice had been made the day he was born. Who the person would be was a different matter, but love wasn't probably in the cards for him. Not that he cared much for it anyhow. He still had a lot to make up for. Erik had already disappointed his parents too much. Now, he had to focus on making them proud and show them even though he was now a werewolf he still was the best man suited for the task. I'm glad she found another pureblood, if only to preserve the purity of it. It seems she stood out in more than one way. That's cool. She made her own way and left a mark. That is quite an accomplishment in itself. Looks like you inherited the stubbornness from her as well. Your Irish counterparts seem... Erik was looking for the right word. Admirable. He nodded as if only to convince himself of this.
When she asked where he was heading to or if he needed to mail another letter the werewolf shook his head. No, I posted a letter earlier. Just before you arrived actually. Yeah, I was going to head back to the common room, but nothing was set in stone. How about yourself?

Santario brushed off the comment of maintaining the purity of the bloodline. Something that never mattered to her and something she never understood. “I guess you could say that yeah.” She was very stubborn and fiery like her mother. A very much a do what she wanted person and she was evolving into a take no crap from anyone kind of person. She’d much rather be able to spend time with her Irish grandparents than her French, but you can’t always get what you want. Something that she would find out a few months down the road.
She ran a hand through her hair with a chuckle. “Honestly, I forgot what I was going to do after this probably study or something.” She shrugged a little as she packed her bag back up. “Care to walk with me? Nothing better to do right?” If he agreed to go with her she would happily walk next to him and probably provide some small talk on their long way back to the common room maybe even suggest grabbing whatever meal that came next which would probably have been lunch. If he declined to walk with her she would simply shrug it off and turn on her heel and go.

Erik nodded at her response to his remark about the purity of the bloodline. The werewolf smiled at San. The way she had spoken about her family reminded him a lot of his. Not that his mother was not completely accepted on his father's side. Oh, not at all. She was loved. They had been a perfect match. Just like San's parents. When San picked up her back Erik came back to the present. Yeah, exactly! I would love nothing more than to accompany you.
Erik was glad that they had run into each other in the Owlery of all places. He now had gotten more pieces of the puzzle that was Santario and what he had seen so far only confirmed to him that it was not fate that had brought them together. It had been destined to be so. They were quite similar in some ways, but had a lot more differences. If you had asked him, he would have said they were kindred spirits. They fit perfectly together and Erik enjoyed her company a lot. It was no wonder that when they were together the conversation happened naturally without effort and right now as they made their way towards the common room they were having some small talk and laughed with one another.
