That was the final straw.
Sherman’s words were disturbing, aggravating to the Captain’s senses, grating upon his patience in the most acute way and leaving him burning with a fresh sort of rage, nostrils flaring and lips pursed in anger. A growl shortly escaped his lips, much like an animal, a small sign alluding to his burning temper, crescendoing above the grunts and groans of the contesting teams. In the midst of the game, sufferings on both ends of the spectrum, the young Gryffindor couldn’t help but disappear into his own furious thoughts, his face slowly gaining color as the moments ticked on. Who did the midget think he was, poking about at Raf? Telling him he talked too much? As if the boy hadn’t figuratively spit in his face. It wasn’t like his pathetic noodle arms were doing all that much, were they? Such thoughts were deafening, and for a moment, the boy found himself lost in the possibilities of revenge. What should he subject the child to? A bloody nose? An Incendio to the back? The boy should have known. Rafael didn’t take people’s disgrace.
He certainly wouldn’t make an exception for Sherman.
With Alan around, the Captain certainly couldn’t risk subjecting the boy to bodily harm. However, perhaps there was a more subtle option of revenge, one that would cause the boy no physical strife but great emotional aggravation. With a sickening smile, the Captain jutted his chin out at the boy in front of him, a wicked glint dancing in his eye as he chewed his lip, contemplating his next words carefully. He would soon speak, words lilting and pointed, yet sugar sweet in nature, as if talking to a baby in a stroller. “Well, then, mate,” he jeered wryly. “If you’re so good at pulling a rope, yeah?” Then, looking down at his shoes, he bit his lip, shrugging in an innocent manner, before looking back up. “How about you do it without me?”
It was then, that he shortly let go of the rope, holding his hands before him in a sarcastic manner as he nodded at the redhead, stepping away from his ever-shrinking team. His actions, by some strange act of fate, brought a great deal of joy to his chest, satisfaction to his soul. Surely his team would learn soon enough what force they had so painfully lost, if not by being jolted forward like ragdolls, then by the struggling that would surely ensue in order to maintain their position. The Captain could feel little remorse, only set himself on the grass for a moment, about the area Aurelia had presided in before leaving. “You got it, Team!” he called, pumping his fist in the air. “Get ‘em, Sherman!”

The third year surely had a few struggles to give his team some strength. His lithe build just was not meant for games solely based on muscle power. But he had known that even before the game had started. While there was fun in winning, the most fun he had when he just had fun and that was the case here.
When he heard the words of a girl in his team, he would snort slightly in amusement. He shook his head to stop himself from getting distracted. "G-Got it, Cas-", he would snort, before once again giving his best to stem his feet into the ground and pull at the rope. Rafael who was still bickering with Zyk seemed to be getting fed up with his team mate for some reason and dropped the rope. It made it certainly easier for Alan's team, but it also worried Alan that perhaps the taller Gryffindor did not enjoy the game as much as it had seemed at first.
He glanced over to Rafael who sat down where Aurelia had been sitting earlier and for a few moments the third year tried to read his expression, before focusing back on the game. He did not want his team to get even angrier at him for getting distracted again. With that he pulled the rope with as much strength he had to offer.

So apparently, there wasn’t just one problematic boy on their team, but two. The boy in front still hadn’t let up on his remarks about the other Gryffindor boy, almost as if he was trying to cause a fight. Maria grit her teeth, her previous annoyance coming back with avengeance. “Ugh, boys and their egos.” She thought as she once again gave a harsh tug. So far the game was going their way, but with how the red head was running his mouth, this kid’s game could well turn into a fist fight.
True to her theory the Quidditch captain had let go of the rope. But instead of attacking the boy he referred to as “Sherman” (likely another one of his creative nicknames or so she assumed), their fearless leader let go of the rope, and sat somewhere where a Gryffindor girl was previously seated. Maria noticed her arrive but didn’t notice her leave. Apparently there’s only so much you can focus on with two prats rattling on at each other.
“You just had to provoke him.” She called out to the red head. Sure, he was definitely putting in a good effort, more than her or even the two students behind her, but there was only so much peacocking Maria could take. She had half a mind to release the rope and have him thrown into the other team, but quickly reminded herself that karma would come and eventually bite them both in the rear end soon enough. Instead, she thought of a different approach.
“Giving up so soon, Cap? Didn’t think you were the type to be intimidated by a boy with little sass.” She shouted at the seated boy.

Ana chuckled at Wren's trash talk."Wren, sweetness, no," Ana said brightly. Wren reminded her rather of herself, albeit a tad less violence inclined. She was about to continue mocking the other team when Rafa began some speech about crushing hope and strategy. She rolled her eyes at her friend. There was absolutely no strategy involved in Tug of War beyond yanking a rope. The longer the game dragged on, the more tired everyone's muscles would get. In her opinion, the best way to win this inane game just win out of the gate and be done.
She heard more bickering and was about to shout about both of them when she felt a strange tug in front of her. Glancing behind, she saw that Rafael had seemed to have decided that pulling on a rope was simply not for him. She completely understood the sentiment but was massively irritated. Quite frankly, the main reason she had stayed was to help Rafa out with his crush, who seemed like a decent enough fellow. However, Rafa was undermining everything by acting like a petulant toddler.
"Rafael, you little shit, get back here!" Ana snapped as he took a seat. Abandoning all pretenses of caring about the game, she let go and stalked over to the Quidditch Captain. "Get up, you're acting like a petty little baby."
If her tone and her words were not enough to convince her best friend to get his happy ass back into the game, Ana punctuated the words "petty", "little", and "baby", with smacks to the back of his head. Sure, it wasn't the best idea, but she doubted it would actually hurt him that much and she 1000% stood by what she had said.

Most of team blue seemed to be working hard to get back at the red team. Mainly @River Dewlight and Alan put all their strength and efforts into getting back to the lead; both seemed equally determined and competitive. Possibly it had been @Cassandra Ironwoods's comment that had made Alan pull the rope harder, whatever it had been it worked in the blue team's favor. @Cassandra Ironwoods however seemed to falter slightly, as her strength was not on par with her previous efforts. There was no way of telling why, but perhaps it was the distraction of what was going on in team red. @Adam Harringtom put in moderate efforts, while @Wren Caster seemed to have lost all focus on the game, which perhaps could have been worry for her friend on the other side of the rope.
On the other hand team red seemed to be doing even worse. @Zykeal Lane lost all bite when he could not keep his eyes off Aurelia as his gaze would slightly follow her when she got up to leave, making the pull he had on the rope worth nearly nothing. @Rafael D'Spacito's ego seemed to have been scratched one too many times and in a fit of childish temper he let go off the rope and went to sit in the grass. Seeing this @Anastasia Beckett would simply follow, not caring what this would mean for her team, but smacking Rafael upside the head did seem more important to her in the moment. Despite @Maria Dee's attempt to face the blue team nearly on her own, putting immense strength into this round, the force was just too strong. After all two of her team mates had let go and it caused her and Zykeal to loose footing as they were dragged right into the other team.
@Zykeal Lane pulled the shortest straw due to being in the front an fell right into Alan, who had already staggered. This caused their foreheads to bump together painfully, causing Alan to instantly flinch back. @Maria Dee would also be yanked forward, falling to the ground (up to you if her knees get scraped). @Wren Caster will fall back, @Cassandra Ironwoods "magically" regains her footing with seemingly zero issues as if the whole thing did not face her, @River Dewlight will also fall back however & @Adam Harringtom will fight to loose his footing and still fall, causing all of the students except of Cassandra to end up on the ground.

This whole round turned into a mess that Alan would have never been able to expect from all of this. With both Ana and Rafael letting go of the rope there was no way the red team could put up the strength to fight against his own team and that would proof itself within the next few seconds as team blue yanked at the rope. Alan watched the chaos unfold as the kid in the front of team red, Zykeal, was yeeted right into Alan which would cause their foreheads to meet painfully, as the whole team seemed to fall forward, whereas team blue fell backwards. Maria also seemed to fall forward painfully, which Alan had little mind for as pain exploded in his head as he scrambled backwards, gritting his teeth together as he raised his hands to his forehead.
The dull yet acute pain would temporarily make dark spots dance in front of his eyes, tears nearly welling up in his eyes, which he forced back. He would slowly let go to look around, the movement making the pain he was feeling worse, but he could not pay attention to that, could he? Not in front of the others at least, even though he was clearly feeling in pain which should be obvious for anyone looking at him. Alan was not doing well at masking his emotions as he let his gaze wander through the group of students on the ground, still in too much shock and pain to really notice much.
Alan forced himself to stand up, staggering slightly as he did so and turned to look down at Zykeal. "A-Are you a-alright?," he croaked out, the pain he was feeling audible in his own voice.

The chirps of their glorious leader once again piped up, another annoying string of words that Zykeal barely understood as his gaze was lingering on the 3rd year that was still leaving the field. It wasn't until the strength of the other team became more apparent that he turned his head over his shoulder and looked back at first Maria as she chided him, "What? I only said 5..." was all he got out before his eyes widened, first noticing that the boy had walked off and the girl was now following him.
It was like a full minute as Zyk turned his head back around as the strength of their 2 was now set against the 5 of the others, "Shi," was the only thing that Zykeal could mutter before he was yanked forward. Off-balance, he couldn't let go of the rope fast enough and he tumbled forward, head first in what seemed to be a full-frontal head dive towards Alan. There was a movement to try and lift his hand from the rope to protect his head, but, he had his arms wrapped in the rope and couldn't free them in time to prevent any of the impending doom.
A flash of white was the next thing that he saw after his forehead collided with Alans, the blow was more glancing though, it passed across his forehead and down across his left eyebrow. After the initial collision, he rolled to the side and tried to untangle his hand from the rope as he stayed staring towards the sky for the moment, trying to recover himself enough to get up. It took a moment for him to notice the red that started to cover his right eye then, the soft tissue of his brow seemed to split at that moment and a spurt of blood flowed down the side of his eye.
Shaking the rope with a little more vigor to untangle it, he heard Alan say something as the other boy had seemed to stand shakily, he couldn't really comprehend what he said though as Zyk finally managed to whip the rope off from around himself. Zykeal decided to flip over and sit up away from Alan and the others, a hand rising up from beside him and moving to cover the right side of his brow to apply pressure there. There was a quick moment of hesitation where he thought he might actually shed a tear from the initial shock of the situation, but, he had to compose himself in front of the others. Zykeals hand was soaked in red before long and he took a moment to wipe it on the side of his trousers before offering a reply to Alan, "Bloody brilliant," he said, a smirk playing across his face at his own joke.

Adam was still trying to keep his focus on the rope, sparing only as much as he needed to have a conversation with River and Cassie. It seemed like they were all in agreement -- there was no way that they should be losing the game. Cassie seemed to think that it was Alan's fault, and Adam winced a little bit as they shouted up at their team captain. He made a note to talk to Alan after the game ended and make sure that he hadn't been too hurt by the comment. It was easy to get carried away in the competition, especially since they were on the losing team.
Or were they? The tide seemed to turn in a flash as the tensions boiled over and split the Red Team apart. Adam felt himself gaining ground suddenly and looked up to see the other team's captain walk away, taking a seat on the nearby grass. Just as quickly, an angry-looking (and angry-sounding) Gryffindor girl chased him down, leaving the Red Team with even fewer people than they'd had before. Although the remaining participants put up a good fight, the sudden shift in strength was more than any of them had protected. The red-haired boy went flying into Alan, their foreheads collided with a chilling thud, and suddenly everyone was tumbling to the ground.
Adam tried to catch himself as he fell backwards, but at the awkward angle he ended up landing on his back anyway. He scrambled quickly out of River's way and nearly backed into Cassie, apologizing to them from the ground. He was surprised that his Slytherin teammate had managed to stay standing; then again, they had been at the back of the rope, so that was an advantage. Adam picked himself up and brushed the grass off of his back, surveying the damage as best as he could. It looked like most of the students had only bruised their dignity, like he had, but Alan and the red-haired boy had gotten the worst of the impact. Making sure not to step on any fingers or legs, Adam made his way up to Alan and put a hand lightly on his shoulder. "Are you okay? That looked terrible!"
A moment later, he followed the other third-year's gaze to the ground and tried not to swear in surprise. The Gryffindor from the other team had blood all over his hand and across one side of his face. Adam hadn't expected it to be that bad; though, didn't people always say head wounds looked worse than they actually were? Or maybe it was the other way around...
Either way, Adam didn't like the look of the injury. He wasn't sure exactly what to do or say, since he didn't know either of the boys very well, but he decided to extend an offer anyway. He hooked a thumb over his shoulder in the general direction of the hospital wing. "Do you want me to go get help? I'll try and be quick." Surely the nurse dealt with this kind of thing all the time -- it could be easily healed. Still, who knew that a friendly courtyard game could end in bloodshed?

The satisfaction of being the impassive member was amazing, enlightening, empowering. Until it wasn’t.
Ana’s hand was firm and unforgiving as it made harsh contact with his face, the sting of her force sending the boy reeling, the deafening smack resounding in the air silent in the midst of the blood now pounding through the child’s head. She was fucking strong, he learned in that moment, and just as unforgiving as his mother, the very thought of the vile woman sending a shiver down his spine. However, he could do nothing to focus on that, the pain too sudden, immense, fresh in his mind – he leaned forward subconsciously, his eyes screwed tightly shut as the curse shortly left his mouth, short and sweet. “Mother-fucker!” he growled. “What, what was that for?” Ana was on his side, was she not? Was that all in his imagination? “What… is your problem?” It was something he would say to a close friend, knowing that their relationship was stronger than a simple argument, but that didn’t make the words any less venomous. “Jesus fucking Christ…” call it shock, call it anger. He didn’t just get smacked without a word or two, not in the way he just did. And, though Anastasia was far from ‘paying’ for it, she would hopefully understand how he felt about such actions. Good thing she was hamburger-flipping hot.
He would have continued his rant, but it was then, that another action had caught his eye. It was like watching a scene in slow motion, Zyk’s revenge, the way he soared like a bird through the air, smashing faces with his crush friend. Stealthy, making it look like an accident. But Rafa could see right through it. The feeling was angering, enraging – the Captain’s eyes narrowed, jaw tightening as his nostrils visibly flared. His face grew a darker shade of red, shading the red handprint on his cheek with a wave of fiery rage, his hands closing into a tight fist as a growl emanated from his throat. Snappy one-liners were one thing, but Zyk wanted to mess with his love life and get away with it? Rafa was a ticking time bomb now, the clock on his outburst only seconds away from expiring. It was only a matter of time before –
He acted. The boy’s legs shortly extended, his fists opening once more as he pitched himself across the field. Sprinting at his new nemesis, he growled deeply, much like a wolf pouncing its prey, his body language much like a football player tackling an opponent. Proven that his advances were successful, the drawbacks would not be pretty. It was this thought, along with the images of Zyk’s mental attack, that spurred him, the child leaping in the air as he found himself the appropriate length away from the son of a bitch. There was no more room for thought. “TOM BRADY TACKLE!” he would growl, though the words may have been lost as he readied himself for contact –
