[quote]There was something about the words no one will catch us which tempted the forces of fate.

As fate would have it, that sunny Saturday morning had lured more than one prefect out onto the grounds. Surely, the Ravenclaw Pericles Dralt was not the first to spot something suspicious, but he was certainly among those who had a nose for mischief. His presence was initially innocuous, easily overlooked: he sat in the shade of a tree, back leaned into its bark, the lake sprawled out before him. Though his gaze lazily drifted along the lines of a book (The Flying Squad by Edgar Wallace), they lifted here and there towards signs of movement in his peripheral. The first odd sight was that of @Janet Jackson wandering into the treeline. He didn't suppose much of it, back to his book in seconds, presuming she was simply another student seeking a quiet place of her own. It was not all too long later when he witnessed @May Moonstar following the same path, drifting into the clump of trees along the water. His mind wandered after them. Was it safe, traveling out of view from the grounds in times like these? Was this paranoia on his part, or responsibility? Would it be wise to pester them? What if he followed, only to find the girls having a tea party or, some other sort of innocent get-together? Well, he wasn't in his robes, and his badge was in his pocket. Today's ensemble was particularly plain. If it was nothing, he would simply seem like a nosy student for following after....

The deal-breaker of his uncertainty was when a third student, @Ariana Walker, not only followed down the little hill into the trees. He saw her stumble, falling out of sight. Now that was reason for anyone- prefect or no- to pursue. Driven to ensure she hadn't broken an ankle, Pericles stowed his book into his trusty leather bag and crossed the grounds at a swift pace. He paused at the top of that short decline. The girl was nowhere in sight, yet beyond the trees, he was certain he heard a woody thunk. It sounded almost like someone was chopping trees (leading his mind down a morbid path involving wood axes and mad lumberjacks). Withdrawing his wand, the boy carefully proceeded down and onward, his steps light, cautiously avoiding any errant branches or particularly crunchy leaves. The scene he had stumbled upon was far less frightful than the one he had conjured in his head. That book had led his imagination on a wild chase, yet there were no creeping creatures, no villains. Granted, Janet would have trouble looking "perfectly innocent" to a prefect this time, being caught red-handed, weapon in her grasp. Silvery eyes followed her aim to the tree, arrows protruding from crude circles scratched into its bark. The boy took a moment to process what he was witnessing before he donned a mild smile.

"Hello."

Pericles' tone was plain, polite, almost casual. He directed his attention towards the one with the bow, nodding at it as he added, "That's quite the elegant weapon. Where did you get it from?"

She had a task and she needed to perform tests. Deep in her thinking about how it would be best to approach the task she was heading towards a quiet place near the lake she had found earlier. The area wasn't crowded but also it wasn't a barren desert with no life sign around. Fortunately, she didn't notice anyone while she was cruising through the grounds towards her destination. She hoped her sub-conscious would be tracking all the potential obstacles on her way, while her consciousness would be dealing with the task.

Her train of thought halted once her sub-consciousness stumbled over someone crossing her way a several metres in front of her. She had to enable her senses again and start to perceive the actual reality again. It was her fellow prefect and also a friend of her friend, whom she didn't know where to put yet in her relationship matrix. Pericles was crossing her way in quite a pursuing pace, which could only mean a single thing — adventure. Meenauh wasn't particularly fond of adventures, but if this Ravenclaw thought something required his attention, Meenauh wouldn't ever question it. Her inner Ravenclaw wouldn't forgive if she'd lose an opportunity to find out something worth finding out.

She temporarily postponed her plans and cut her direct movement into a curve and followed Pericles as he was moving. Once he dropped out of sight, she started to hear thunks, but she couldn't put it anywhere in her mind, because she couldn't accept someone could deliberately hurt a tree.
Interacting with @Pericles Dralt
As she came closer, she saw Pericles calmly greeting three girls, one of them drawing a weapon, and requested information about the sources that weapon was acquired from. Indeed, how a student could sneak in a weapon? She quietly levelled her position with Pericles, her own badge was unfortunately located visibly on her robe, and left a short comment: "That is, Pericles, indeed a very intriguing question."

"Ah relax Ariana it’s fine, no one will catch us."

Janet reassured her negligently with a brief wave of her hand and Ariana relaxed, laughing as she observed the shocked expression decorating her features. “C’mon, i'm not that bad at following rules myself am I?” She questioned jokingly, but it was plain from the expression on Janet's face, that this statement showed no sign of false proposition.

“Since when are you the perfect here?"
The comment was teasing, deriding, although quiet. If Ariana had not seen May form these words she wouldn't have known she'd said it. “Wh- I never sa-” Ariana spluttered in indignation, but was interrupted from the sound of footsteps behind her. She jumped violently at the presence of the person, the gryffindor had never been good with sudden jump-scares. Turning swiftly, to face the newcomer, she took in his appearance, he looked familiar. Was he a prefect? Maybe she had seen him before.

“Hello”

Whatever Ariana had been expecting was definitely not this. His tone was casual, well mannered, in fact he didn't seem disturbed by the scene he was witnessing at all. Ariana smiled a sheepish grin, as he directed his attention to Janet, who had frozen, holding the bow in position, shoulder height, looking admittedly foolish at the idea of being caught in the act.

"That's quite the elegant weapon. Where did you get it from?"

Ariana turned to face janet, eyeing the bow that was clutched in her grasp.
"That is, Pericles, indeed a very intriguing question." A different voice. Turning back around she was met by none other than a prefect of her own house, who, judging by her expression, seemed to be slightly disapproving at the idea of the weapon Janet was now bradishing. “Hello!” Ariana greeted, stepping to the side as she tugged her skirt free from the bramble it had caught on after her swift movements. “Ariana Walker. Nice to meet you”Her tone was confident, cheery and there was an air of cordiality about it as she addressed the newcomers, a smile etched across her dainty features. “Oh um, Janet here,” She gestured to her best friend, sending her a look as to say 'Put it down, you look stupid holding it in the air' “Usually practices archery here, she acquired the talent as a young girl and I mean, I suppose she's had the bow since she arrived here, she is quite good at it I must say.”

Ariana flashed Janet a grin and made a few teasing remarks, reassuring Janet that she had reassumed her normal care free attitude. She knew that whatever the case Ariana would never snitch anyway so she hadn’t been that worried to be truthful. As these thoughts were going through her head she was surprised with another unexpected guest (really how many people was she going to run into here!) and she realised with a glance at the Ravenclaw that he was a prefect she had seen around the castle. Janet’s heart skipped a beat.
“Hello,” he said with a smile.
Janet was slightly surprised at this, she had been expecting telling offs and detailed questions as to what she was doing here, definitely not this.
“Hey! My name is Janet you probably don’t know me,” she gestured to May and Ariana, “and these are my friends Ariana and May.”
The Ravenclaw nodded to the bow that Janet was clutching somewhat foolishly in midair as if she was about to shoot. Janet made a point of aiming it down, contrary to her reckless spirit she always made sure everyone else was safely our of the way whilst she was practicing archery, another reason why she hated it when people snuck up on her unexpectedly during her archery practice.
“That's quite the elegant weapon. Where did you get it from?"
Janet opened her mouth to answer but before she could get a word out a new voice cut in.
“That is, Pericles, indeed a very intriguing question“
Janet turned around swiftly to see another prefect, this time from her own house. This time Ariana introduced herself and Janet with the usual confident air she normally possessed. Janet wasn’t feeling so confident however, she felt that this prefect was a bit more of a stickler for the rules and she didn’t want to be reported.

May was glad that @Ariana Walker was embarrassed by May telling her she was a prefect. May was outstanding when it came to embarrass someone, and that demonstrated it.
Well, May was glad, she had to admit, that no one was there. After all, if they would've had seen the weapon, a prefect or professor, then, immediate detention would be given. And of course, what would've had happened if there was someone, like May, in the bushes, and @Janet Jackson would've had shooted her arrow at him? He of course, could've had been killed.

"Hello"

May was about to shriek of fright. Someone...a prefect was there, looking at them, with the air of a intellectual nerd. To be frank, May was about to laugh. But she had to shut up, because of course, she would've had been given detention twice by humiliating a prefect.

"That's quite a interesting weapon. Where did you get it from?"

May looked at Janet and then at the Prefect, twice. Really, what had Janet just done? That meant that now, May, Ariana and Janet herself would get expelled. Or at least, May knew she was going to be.

Then, worse even, another prefect came. This time, May knew, a Gryffindor. May was freezing, and of course, was more than frightened. She looked at the two prefects, and whispered..."Run."

Despite of her own thoughts, May was running to the river, trying to get out of sight. She was sure that @Pericles Dralt and @Mennauh Silmataurea weren't going to catch them.

'Oh, no! Don't eat me! Wait a little till the big Billy Goat Gruff comes. He's much bigger!' Said the second billy goat to the troll. What the second billy goat failed to tell the troll, was that the third goat was the scarier of the three goats- and that it could probably eat the troll if it tried hard enough. Enter, the third billy goat. Xailah was known to half of the student body, as the 'weird-looking, goth chick, with the cat'. And those that didn't know her as that, knew her as 'the scary prefect with the cat'. The other half of the student body were unaware of her existence. She wasn't a stickler for the rules, seeing that she often broke a lot of them- 16 of the 26 rules that were currently in place. And seemed to frequently break rule number 12. No stealing. Although that was something that she couldn't help. She was a hopeless Kleptomaniac- and a fledgling con-artist amongst the prefect body. It was something that few- if anyone knew about.

All unnecessary information aside, she had only given one detention during her time as prefect- which didn't say much considering she often liked to do things on a whim. Half the time she didn't have to issue detention, because people usually ran from her. She very rarely stopped violators of the law; in fact she would have ignored the child that was practicing her archery, over yonder- she would have ignored the girl; if not for the fact that, she saw two familiar faces, going to investigate the activity. Xailah slunk along, slowly; the parasol that she had stolen from Griffith, was doing its job and protecting her from the sun. Schrödinger was doing his job and protecting her... shoulder- he wasn't really doing much, just hanging there. She was in no hurry. But someone else was, apparently. A girl with white hair, would turn to flee the group. She would try, but she would come face to face with prefect that possessed the eyes of a demon.

Xailah snapped the parasol shut, the tip of it slammed into the moist earth in front of the escapee. As if that would stop them. It wouldn't- it was mostly just for effect. "Dare I even ask?" One unamused eyebrow shot up. What was the kid running from anyways? Pericles? Meenauh? The thought of running from either child, was well, funny to say the least. Neither one put off a threatening aura. Pericles didn't at least. Meenauh on the other hand, could have her scary moments. Xailah peered over the black frames of her glasses, and at the other two prefects. "Hallo. I was not informed that there was a meeting- is this a meeting? Or perhaps-" Her eyes wandered, her slitted pupils landing on the girl who was in possession of a bow. "A confrontation? Either way, I am intrigued."

Janet had of course been frightened of getting a detention or even worse (in her opinion anyway) getting her precious bow taken away, but May seemed absolutely terrified that she was about to be expelled or something, Janet sincerely doubted they would go that far in punishing them.
May turned to Janet and Ariana in a state of obvious panic and whispered the single word,
“Run.”
May then proceeded to sprint as fast as she could towards the river away from the prefects. Janet hesitated and thought of calling May back. Really what was she doing? Running away would make them look even more guilty and then when they were caught they would certainly be in even more trouble.
“May-”
What did she think she could run away from anyway? She would obviously have to go back to the castle anyway only to come back to an angry professor or something of the sort. Anyway running away was certainly not in this courageous Gryffindor’s nature, so Janet stood her ground.

May had not made it far however without being confronted by yet another prefect. This time Janet was certain she recognised the Gryffindor standing before her, although she couldn’t recall her name. Now that she thought about it though, she had certainly seen these other prefects around the castle, she didn’t know much about them apart from the fact that they were respected students most likely in their second year.
“Dare I even ask?"
The new prefect looked slightly amused at the thought of May running away and Janet couldn’t disagree with her.
”Hallo. I was not informed that there was a meeting- is this a meeting? Or perhaps-" Her eyes wandered around the large group of students and came to a rest on Janet who grinned sheepishly. "A confrontation? Either way, I am intrigued."
This has been a stupid idea, she should of known her presence in the forest with a bow wouldn’t go unnoticed. Oh she had only wanted to practice her beloved archery someplace in peace, she hadn’t meant to be a threat or anything. And now she would get detention (a punishment that didn’t trouble her greatly) and her bow would be taken from her (something that caused her great concern). Now she was surrounded by prefects and surely at least one of them would report her!

"Meenauh!" The tune with which the witch was greeted sounded pleasantly surprised. He hadn't anticipated backup, let alone a familiar face, though he was inwardly grateful for it. She was flashed a favorable look. It was tricky, being a prefect. Pericles had quickly come to anticipate any combination of reactions: contempt, evasion, even retaliation. So far, it seemed as if a peaceable conclusion could be met, but that didn't mean it was time to let his guard down. He kept a calm face and mild manner. A different surprise rippled across it once Ariana explained that Janet had managed to keep her weapon a secret for the full year, eyebrows arching high. He cast a questioning glance towards the archer, though it quickly smoothed back into neutrality as two took the time to introduce them. "Hullo Ariana, Janet, May. I'm pleased t'meet you. My name is Pericles Dralt, Ravenclaw prefect, and this is Meenauh, a Gryiffindor prefect." The explanation was a formality. He could tell from their expressions that they already understood.

Ariana's guilty grin was given an understanding smile. Peri might have been in the position of an enforcer, yet he knew how it felt to be caught going against the rules. He didn't derive joy from punishing people, or asserting some twisted illusion of power, instead choosing to enforce the rules as politely as possible. They weren't getting off scotch free; that didn't mean they'd given him reason to chide them or shout. The willingness to talk convinced him they could have a cordial exchange. But one among them took the coward's route. May, acting under the childish presumption that fleeing would free her from repercussion, bolted. Pericles' mask-like countenance faded for a gentle frown. His eyes lidded, stare flicked for her back, then he waved his hand in a dismissive gesture. "It's alright," he murmured to Meenauh as if the others were not present. "We know her name." That gaze slid to Janet, corners of his lips tugged up for a kindness just short of genuine this time, and he casuallly questioned: "'May' something, wasn't it?" To his fellow prefect he proposed, "Since she likes to run, we might consider incorporating running into her detention."

While the archer tried to call May back, Pericles continued quietly, speaking to the senior prefect. He motioned towards the tree, briefly carrying on in search of her confirmation. "I suppose this could fall under rule number seventeen- no damaging school property- I think we could reasonably waive it since they're being polite. It isn't as if it were a school wall being defaced. Far more serious is the breakage of rule number nineteen: no weapons, aside from wands, at any time." Although open to input, the matter of the bow was a done deal. His attention returned to Janet, tone swapping effortlessly back from one of professionalism to one of delicate coaxing. "I think archery is an incredible hobby," he insisted, "certainly a talent worthy of upkeep, and I believe you didn't mean to use it in any harmful way. But we can't pick favorites and make exceptions. We'll have to confiscate your bow and quiver. I promise no damage will come to them, we'll see them sent straight home to your family. You may want to consider making an appeal to your Head of House, or one of the other Professors, for an archery club. I can't say for certain if they'll be keen on the idea, though it couldn't hurt to ask. It may be a way to have your bow back on school grounds. Legitimately."

It was then that he heard it: the snap of a parasol, followed by an all too familiar voice. Those lazy lids widened, an involuntary curl at the corner of his lips indicating immediate approval. "Hello, Xailah!" Another surge which indicated this wasn't at all planned; he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised any longer. Meenauh and Xailah were something of a magnetized duo. He didn't often see one without the other, and as time went on, Pericles had started to sense the duo was becoming something of a trio. Their numbers were matched now. The girls were to toe off with three of the weirdest prefects at Hogwarts. Nose crinkled in amusement, he discarded the idea of this being a meeting or a confrontation, though it could have easily been both. "I like to think this is more of a, ah... cooperation."

The politeness of Pericles was expanding across the whole Great Lake and it was quite pleasant to just to listen to him. She loved formalities because they sounded organised and pretty. She didn't follow formalities much herself — all her detentions were because the students forgot to close the doors after them and were caught after curfew. So by that time she was too annoyed and tired to follow all the formalities. She greeted the gentleman with a slight bow-like inclining of her head as if they were going to dance on a ball in a few minutes. Pericles continued in the most polite way and introduced himself and herself.

The three girls that were caught clearly didn't expect the sudden inflow of the prefects to the scene, but more than a half of them at least spoke back nicely. That was a good move. The less than half of them considered the only option was to run. Run for survival. As if they really had anywhere to run.
Interacting with @Pericles Dralt
Meenauh nodded when rule seventeen was stated and nodded again when rule nineteen was mentioned but hurried to comment:

"I wouldn't call it property, of course, but thank god it was not a charmed tree, right?" she smiled, but then exclaimed, "Or, thank Merlin, not a very valuable, very violent sentient species of magical plants" she winked at Pericles subtly for the girls to not notice, "otherwise the girls could be really hurt," she formally pointed out at the girls with her palm as if she was making a presentation.
Interacting with @Pericles Dralt and @Xailah Alptraum
Meenauh almost giggled out loud when she heard the familiar voice jumping out of nowhere. That was the final touch on the whole scene to classify it as a genuine ambush. Considering the girls were basically surrounded. Despite the whole scene looked really bad for the girls — the offence was not harsh, but running away from the servants of justice could always increase the degree. But there were three prefects catching three girls, so the fate has already proven that was the rarest coincidence. She waved at Xailah with a smile and smirked at Pericles giving the whole situation a what seemed mocking to her title — cooperation. Anyway, Ms. May Something owed them a nice explanation at least.

[quote]When Janet called her back, May felt a rush of embarrassment in her face an whole body. What had she done? Anyways, she had fell in the trap. She had let herself go back to the prefects that were...sorrow ding them to give them a huge detention just because May runned away. And Janet had that stupid arrow and now and she had a small mind that made her break the rules fifteen or seventeen rule...Bah. That didn't even make sense. And so much that Miss Moonstar wanted to be one of the GREAT PREFECTS, she would never do it. A detention could ruin a life.

Still as red as a tomato (or anything) May looked up (o yes, she dared to) to the prefects and SHE, May Moonstar, was about to have the detention she was fearing all day. Well, since had met little Janet Jackson in the leacky cauldron.

"I wouldn't call it property, of course, but thank god it was not a charmed tree, right?" the Gryffindor @Meenauh Silmataurea said, "Or, thank Merlin, not a very valuable, very violent sentient species of magical plants". May saw the girl wink at the Ravenclaw, @Pericles Dralt, and May raised an eyebrow. She crossed her arms, and knew they were making up things. Right? "otherwise the girls could be really hurt."

May looked at her friends, @Janet Jackson and @Ariana Walker, waiting for their response to this. Then, she looked up at the other Gryffindor Prefect, @Xailah Alpatrum and listened to what she had to say. If she had something to say anyways.
