Charms Classroom

Charms, huh? Millie wondering how and what the class would be. It surely is magical knowledge since she never heard that lesson before back at her old school in hometown. So then, of course she need her wand, right? Checked, pocketed.
She checked her pocket watch. The time is still early. She pondered it for a moment. She's now idle. Too idle. She woke up early than usual because of her new place and surrounding. She has nothing to do at least until the lesson begin. It narrowed her choice to just going on now. To the charms classroom it is.
Once she arrived at the classroom, as she thought, there still aren't many people there. Just one and two students in one of the middle row table talking to each other. Besides that, surprisingly, the Professor is already there. Busy preparing something on her desk and not really mind us students that come too early here.
Millie leaned her back at the chair she was sat on, looking up mindlessly at the ceiling. She intentionally didn't read anything on the texbooks as she wanted know first what the lesson really is. Until then, when she had a grip of what will she do in this class for the next seven years here, she could totally grasp what she read in the books so she don't really helpless as it is now. So, no matter how curious she is now for this lesson, she hold herself, at least until the next ten minutes.
At that time, she caught another students coming in to the classroom from the corner of her eyes. Some alone, while another already gang up with two and more peers. Millie focusing her attention back at her own thought. Her fingers unconsciously tapping the thick textbook she put on her table, forming an upbeat tune her parents occasionally put on weekend-cleaning day.

WC: 215~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Hurry hurry hurry... can't be late to my first Charms class. What kind of a first impression would that be.", I thought, as I rushed all the way from my dorm to the Charms classroom. Hogwarts was huge, with twisting stairways, and many... many passages. To not get lost here itself was a miracle. So ideally, it was good to start early to class, especially on your first day- unlike me, who apparently spent too much time fixing my hair and robes. Not that I cared too much about my looks, but I wanted to look my best on my first day.
I was quite excited for charms, how fun it would be to give our wands a good spin. I finally reached the classroom after quite a handful of wrong turns, but I'd made it, with some time to spare. I pushed open the door thinking, "I hope I'm not the last one to arrive, that would be so embarrassing. But thankfully, some students were yet to arrive. I looked around for an empty seat. I spotted one next to a ravenclaw girl. I approached the girl with ash brown hair, who was drumming her fingers on her textbook. I spoke to her with a smile, "Hey there, I'm Avery. Is this seat taken?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Hey there, I'm Avery. Is this seat taken?"
With that voice came close enough from her, Millie snapped out of her own mind and found a red-robe girl standing beside her, patiently waiting for Millie's responds either she can sit at that vacant spot beside her or not. Remembering the most favorite sentence her Ma always told her, Millie quickly put on her polite and sincere smile and nod to the girl.
"No, no. You can sit if you like," Millie said as she stopped her drumming fingers, folding it up on her knee instead. She quietly followed the girl's movement as her smile getting brighter and happily sat beside Millie as that very seat is the lucky spot in this class. And then at the same time, she realized something she hasn't done yet. "It's Millicent. But you can simply go by Millie."
Slowly but surely, the classroom getting more cramped by students coming in. Only five minutes left before the lesson begin. The professor in her desk also almost ready with her preparation. Millie gulped down her saliva, clasping her sweaty hand to each other. The mix feeling of nervousness and excitement on her already over her.
With a crooked, awkward smile, Millie leaned her head to the side and whispers to Avery, "Uh, I know it'd sound weird to asked, but what kind of lesson Charms is?" She bit her inner-lip as she realized the way she asked that question is really weird. So she cleared her throat, "I'm sorry. I just never heard of this subjects ever taught in my old school on my hometown, that's I thought it is one of the magical subject, yeah?"

WC: 217~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~To my question, the girl answered in the affirmative, returning a smile. She introduced herself as Millie, as I took my seat next to her. I said, "It's nice to meet you Millie." My mind blanked as I wondered what to say next. I didn't want any awkwardness to linger. I hesitantly added, "Umm... It's a nice classroom isn't it?, hopefully that didn't sound weird. Even if it did, the feeling should vanish once class starts, afterall my mother did say that charms was quite lively.
I peered around the classroom as children started occupying the empty desks. Millie whispered, "Uh, I know it'd sound weird to asked, but what kind of lesson Charms is?" With her question I realised that she might be muggleborn. Before I could answer she quickly added, "I'm sorry. I just never heard of this subjects ever taught in my old school on my hometown, that's I thought it is one of the magical subject, yeah?"
I whispered back to her, "No need to apologise, and yeah, it is a magical subject. Charms is basically where we learn to cast spells, especially the ones that come in handy in everyday life as a wizard. Most of the subjects at hogwarts would be focusing on the ways of the wizarding world, except muggle studies ofcourse. I take it you're a muggleborn ? I hoped my question didn't come of as rude. Muggleborns were often considered to be lowly by orthodox purebloods. But I had no such mindset, I myself was a half-blood. "Well, yes, my parents no such wizards," Millie said as if she was being asked an obvious thing. She rise her lip and lowering her head, afraid if Professor suddenly had caught her not watching the class and instead chatting with a fellow student. "I hope you could see how shock they were when the owl came to my house out of nowhere."
Millie try her best not to laughed in the middle of the class once she got that memory back when the owl sent her the acceptance letter to her home. An owl. In the clear midday. Out of nowhere. Delivering a letter in the grip of its claws. Surprising but at the same time was such a funny sight too.
"So, this charms lesson is kind of for a daily activity used?" Millie flipped the book on top of her desk. "I can see if no modern technologies can be functioned in the wizarding world so this Lumos can be used as a replacement of flashlight. But what's with this umbrella charm? Why don't just buy one?"
The girl flipped another pages, ears still occasionally listened to the Professor who seems ready to tell the very first spell she had planned on this class. She then grab her 24 cm wooden stick — no, wand — as the Professor now started asking the students to practices the spell she just taught to them.

WC: 269~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I was right, her parents weren't wizards. She spoke about how shocked her parents were upon recieving her acceptance letter. "It must've been a wild ride learning about the existence of a whole new different world and lifestyle." To her question about Charms, I replied, "Yeah, that pretty much sums it up I guess."
I watched as she flipped through the pages of the Charms textbook. She then added, "I can see if no modern technologies can be functioned in the wizarding world so this Lumos can be used as a replacement of flashlight. But what's with this umbrella charm? Why don't just buy one?" She had quite a valid question. Wizards, much alike muggles could always use muggle technology, but we just don't, cause we have magic I guess. I chuckled slightly at the thought. Hmm.. but I've hardly ever seen the umbrella charm in use. What was it again.. pluvia... something? Uggh nevermind. My mind returned to her question. "Well, the umbrella charm does seem pretty useless. I've only seen my mum use it a couple of times. You could always buy an umbrella, but this will probably come in handy if you forget it, or if you don't have one on hand when it rains. There's literally sooo many spells and potions, there's bound to be some useless ones amongst them. I bet they'll be fun to try though.
I smiled in excitement, "I wonder what spell we'd learnt today." I picked up my trusty wand as Millie did the same. I had a really good feeling about the class, even the professor seemed quite promising. I peered into the book open on our desk, the Dancing Feet spell caught my eyes. This seems pretty interesting, sounds like the Tarantalla. I looked back up at the professor as she began our lesson.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

____Millie stiffen her laugh as she didn't want people, including Professor, in this very classroom knowing her just laughed at how she heard Avery told that she still found one of the spell is rather useless even if it has quite cool chant of spell. Well, right. She maybe could lower her expectation more as she then thought that maybe those useless spell had invented far ago before we reach this modernization era which we become smarter with far easily found materials compared to decades ago.
____Moving along to the spell she will learn today, Millie focused her mind back to the Professor and the textbook of how the chant spells.
____"No. It's, uh," Millie intended to correct Avery's error but when she wanted say the spell out of her mouth, she felt her tongue tied all over its place. She the paused while she squinted her eyes to carefully read the spell again through the book. "Tarantu, no, tarantall-egra. Ta-ran-tall-egra? Uh! Why it's so hard to even pronounced it ..."
____Scratching her temple, she practiced her tongue to become used of the difficult word first. Although feeling pressure as she saw her classmates here and there already success their attempted to makes the chairs dance like crazy, she tried it once more. Hopefully this time she not misspoke it again to even more ridiculous word.
