Laverne was just sitting on the bench. It was weekend. Finally! she thought. I can rest and talk with people and do some random stuff! Stupid ones too. Maybe I should just walk up to a few people and talk... Or prank someone! That'll be fun. She just glares around and sees a bunch of girls giggling. She shifts a bit closer. "..... did he actually say that? Yes! He did. And then... Laverne backed away. No way she wanted to hear some girls gossiping over someone!

Then she saw a group of boys talking, and she had a feeling one of them was "the boy", so she leaned in closer. ..... did you actually say that to her? Yeah dude I did and..... She backed away. I knew it! Wait why was she so happy? But why can I see any boys and girls together? As friends... She listened for some more time then got bored, so she went back to her bench. She's just observing everything. The grass is green, (everyone knows that), sky is blue (everyone knows that too), a girl from Slytherin sitting in the shade, a Ravenclaw boy sitting some where else. Whoa they looked sad... Bruh same like me. Wait she's seen that girl before. Her whole family were in Ravenclaw... Laverne felt sad for her. She wanted to go to her, so that they could talk and Laverne could try and make her feel better. Maybe she'll go.....

The courtyard was one of those rare spots where Mikey might have a chance of finding some peace. No absolute silence, perhaps. It was hard to believe such a thing existed somewhere in the castle. There were always students walking by, chatting or laughing. Nevertheless, it was quiet compared to many other spots. And today, quiet felt like it was enough. Mikey leaned on one of the benches and held his wand between his palms, not practicing any spell but rather giving his hands something to do as his mind wandered away without permission. It was the end of the academic year.

Usually, it meant summer, vacation, Liverpool, football, sleeping in his own bed, spending time with his dad. He had been dreaming of it for weeks already. But why did it seem so unusual now? His gaze traveled through the courtyard, although he was not really interested in anything there. Students walked in pairs or groups laughing or talking about their lessons or making plans for later. Some of them somewhere near stumbled upon a pile of books they had and a few seconds later somebody asked, "You alright?" and some laughed in sympathy.

Life at Hogwarts continued regardless of anything. Mikey smiled slightly to himself. How strange to think about how much had changed since the beginning of the year. Almost everybody had been unknown to him then. Now he could hardly go somewhere in the corridors without seeing somebody he knew. His teammates, his classmates, the people he had studied with, the people he had somehow shared a detention with, and those he had encountered in the weirdest situations imaginable, and of course Avery. All of them had become parts of his life. To leave all of this for the summer holiday seemed more difficult than he had thought.

Surely, he would see them all again in September, or so he was supposed to. Nevertheless, the idea of being apart for three months seemed much longer than it had only a week ago. His thumb stroked a scratch on the wooden seat beside him. Maybe, he was worrying too much. This would be nothing unusual, after all. Mikey sighed quietly and reclined backward, lifting his head upwards. Clouds floated in the blue sky over his head, absolutely indifferent to exams, holiday, and other worries of the students. He had allowed his thoughts to wander away again. It happened way too often. Mikey turned his gaze downwards and at last began to look at the people around him rather than through them. He tightened his grip on his wand and put it back in his pocket, where it belonged, as the courtyard lived its life around him.
