Emiline grins as she was finally successful with her trap, Hopefully it will be a defence that will be triggered. Somehow just making sure the trap was set and positioning it just right seemed to drain her, it must have been a more complex task than she initially realised.

Then her location of a jungle, decided to surprise her these river creatures. They surrounded everyone left in zone 4 and stole Avery and Diana's wands?! The cheek of these weird almost mer-creatures! "Its okay guys! Just keep looking you've got this!" She yelled over to them encouragingly, as loosing one's wand was a highly important tool to loose and could be the difference between winning or loosing, and Emiline was not having that!

As Emiline was standing fairly near Bree and Olivia, she overheard the playful banter and grinned. The banter definitely boosted her moral, and she learnt that Olivia was actually quite funny. Especially as this was Emiline's first proper time meeting her. The brunette also noticed something, maybe it was the humid jungle air or something else, but Olivia smelt a bit like wet dog? Maybe she had a pet half-crupp, who knows.

Emiline scanned the thick treeline, as if willing herself to see past the wooden barrier to see the opposing team. Aside from only being able to see the wall of thick jungle trees, that scan did make Emiline feel less paranoid and safer.

He could've been misreading her, but compared to their last meeting, she was... calm. Her initial scowl had melted away into an unfamiliar kind of peace, and it caught Jamie off guard.

Where was the anger? The insults? Her ways that, on that fateful day in spring, marked her as a nebulous force of nature? None of it was there.

He felt off. Relieved. Disappointed? Was he supposed to? He didn't know. But wait, no—he did. Jamie was meant to roll with the situation, to take the civility with grace and gratefulness in equal measure. To revel in the kindness Meiyu offered in response to his own.

He sighed before nodding along. "Right... of course." The boy let some competitive spirit shine through, adopting a smile that held more confidence than it reasonably should have. "Let's make them regret coming out today." The words sat awkwardly on his tongue—a half-decent attempt at being "casual."

But then Meiyu started mumbling expletives out of the blue, and Jamie couldn't help but follow her line of sight. However, there was nothing more than their teammates. Two other boys, to be specific. Questions fluttered across his mind, but he settled for regarding her curiously, all with a hint of amusement in his gaze. "Is there a problem?"

... Maybe he was pushing his luck. She did say to drop formalities, though.

A girl approached next, and this time, Jamie silently questioned if this person was even alive. In spite of her chilling beauty, her eyes—nigh unblinking yet all the same unnerving—nearly had him gripping his wand for security. And even worse—

"I find the the new hairstyle you've chosen to be quite pleasant. It suites your features well. I wish you luck in today's activities—may we emerge victorious."

He narrowed his eyes.

"Apologies, but we should probably get going," he cut in, mouth moving long before his brain could. Suddenly, he paused. That... He needed to recover—"The sooner we prepare, the better chance we have at winning, yes?"

He swallowed, gave the strange girl a nod of acknowledgement, and moved closer to the group. Not nearly enough to be out of earshot, but certainly enough to better sit with his thoughts. He sat with them as the team discussed strategy. He sat with them while moving across the terrain, crossing vines and waterfalls alike. He sat with them and let his eyes settle atop of Meiyu, then the girl from earlier, and then Meiyu all over again.

What... was he doing?

Livia remained quiet as the team began to amass and their plans began to come to fruition. The movements were simple, really. One odd slightly older boy was meant to lay a trap, while the rest of them advanced. Having never played Capture the Flag before, Livia was not altogether certain that the offensive was the best method of play, but she did have a certain proclivity for playing white in chess; thus, she could only apply the same principles here.

Moving through the wilderness did not prove problematic for the perhaps fragile youth. She was, after all, quite well versed in flora and fauna, although less so of that of the rainforest than, perhaps, that of the mountains of the Caucasus or the moors of England. Each plant she passed intrigued her, but under the guise of appearing far more normal (and to appease Evpraksyushka), Livia just kept moving, managing to keep pace with the others despite her lack of physical fitness. She would later be pleased to report that she did not lose her breath quite so much, although the sweat building upon her forehead was beginning to cross the threshold of comfortability.

She cast a quick glance at Evpraksyushka before eyeing the others on her team. They all seemed, for the most part, capable, although she did not know whether or not the laying of the trap behind them had gone well. She supposed she might find out later.

xxxxIn spite of her lacking of understanding towards his response to her greeting, she offered a solemn nod in exchange; in fact, the strange dialect only endeared the muggleborn [@Aodhan Shaw] to her further. Reaching out a long hand, she tugged at the bottom of garment that sat loosely on his figure, "Surely you're clothing will drip all over them. Our opponents will have no choice but to fall in anguish upon seeing your attire."

Hana watched the two boys bicker in amusement, finding an odd sense of comfort as they continued to insult one another. Reaching out towards the boy's [@Fire Davies] outstretched hand, she granted him a firm handshake. She eyed him curiously, scanning his facial features to recall where exactly she'd come across him before. "Let the image of you dangling beneath the traversing staircases serve as motivation to lead us to victory, boy," Hana replied eerily, "otherwise, you shall be at my mercy."

Hana bid the two a farewell as the group moved forward, languidly scanning the terrain in search of any formidable beasts in need of exterminating. She was quite displeased to find only vibrant floral arrangements seemed to infect their path ahead. How ugly. Her footsteps were swift, quiet, as to not detect any predators that held the upper hand in their home territory.

Of course of all things to happen to Avery it would be that a monkey stole her wand. A huff of frustration fell past her lips as she charged into the tangled mess of the jungle to find that wand. Without it, she would be useless against everyone else who were carrying wands. She had to find her wand again. And fast.

There was no time to waste as she listened to the jungle around her and struggled to listen to the sounds of her teammates. She may have may it into zone three, but that did not mean it was a successful attempt. If anything, it was a mess. A nasty cursed mess. What was she supposed to do? To expect? With how rough their first round had gone, how much worse could it really get?

Avery stood there for a moment and allowed herself a breath. She had to calm herself down otherwise she would go crazy with anticipation. What was wrong with her? She had never felt like this during any games she had played in the past. What made this Capture the Flag game different? Why did she feel like she was drowning? Avery did not know the answer to that question.

XXX
XXXXX𝑇he entire situation had been infuriating. Here she was, amidst the jungle, a group consisting of worthless randoms, the reincarnation of an elephant's snout, a ghoul kissed by death, hooligan number one, the terrorist of Gryffindor and a girl akin to a porcelain doll. Quite the concoction considering almost all besides Evpraksiya and herself being genuine imbeciles, but, she digresses — her experience with most within the group only served as fruitful in previous encounters, partially hopeful such success would extend into this expedition.

Awkwardness clung onto the air like an uncomfortable reminder of how things had transpired with Jamie. Her bottom lip nesting in between her teeth as she chewed at the skin to avoid further profanities spilling. Once Jamie had spoken up, pulling her out of the frustration that came with the presence of Fire and Aodhan bickering like two rats squeaking near the kitchens in Hogwarts, Meiyu turned back to Jamie and flashed a quick reassuring smile, "No, there is no proble-", she began, pausing a upon the arrival of @Hana Bakir, a face she had barely seen in months — the lioness far too engrossed in her academic development and prefect duties to spend the remainder of her year loitering in the owlery as she had done during her first year.

Somehow, Meiyu had successfully moved through the terrain and into the other zone, a waterfall almost stopping Meiyu dead in her tracks. For a moment, her gaze trailed behind onto Hana Bakir, noting the brief welcoming she had received from the girl with a ghastly allure, honing into the object of Meiyu's desires which had been indulging into true Victorian-esque attire. She had never delved into how she felt about the girl, but it was something she wanted to explore, even at the expense of doing so before Jamie — a consequence of his peculiar personality.

It felt as though he sought to fix her and protect her from all harm, the thought spiralling in her mind, frustrated by his past interventions and lack of forwardness when it came to obtaining whatever he desired. He was unreadable, whilst Hana, she intrigued Meiyu. Picking up her pace, Meiyu soon found her footing besides Hana, picking up where they left off. "It would be dire if your dress would suffer any harm, stay close to me and no harm will come our way." She began, gaze moving once more to observe the others who had followed before she inched closer to her ear.

"That way, we can torture whoever comes in our direction without these losers knowing about it."

POSTING AS NPC (SOPHIE)

I look around at the jungle the vast expanse of vegetation, it looks pretty. It makes me wonder about how long it took to grow, super long right? The temperature of the area seemed fine, well jungle fine. It seemed humid like London after a thunderstorm, just more wild. I take a deep breath and exhaled it. The air tasted like the earth and had that animal taste. There seemed to be a cacophony of animals around them. I mean, what did I expect? We are playing this game of Capture the Flag in a jungle, of course it wouldn't be quiet. I smile at my team mates who seem to be in the midst of activity people moving about most likely to the next zone, others scanning the area, it was a flurry of activity. I grin feeling my competitive spark flare. We've got to try to win this I think to myself. I try to make eye-contact with a few of the known older years I know, seeing what I'm suppose to do and how I can be helpful for the team. But I just can't seem to make eye-contact while everyone else is bustling around playing the game so I just scan the trees, attempting to be a watchdog if the other team come bursting through the trees, which is unlikely.... right?

POSTING AS NPC (HANNAH)

I had no idea where my team had gone. I had been too focused on the scenery to realize that the rest of my team had moved ahead. Well, great. Just great. I guess I had to do something useful, but then again maybe I could just enjoy the scenery for just a little longer? It was nice. Very nice.

If I had had the choice I would have chosen to go to this school above where I currently went. It seemed more exciting considering the jungle could be fun or it could be your worst nightmare. I shivered at that thought. Now was not the time for thoughts though. I had to be useful. For my team’s sake.

Taking a deep breath, I prepared for what was next. For whatever my team had planned. That was my job. Listen to the team and know what they want me to do. A smile spread across my face. I couldn’t wait to win this match. I couldn’t wait to see everyone’s faces when we won. It would be amazing.

For now, though, I had to do my best and help lead the team to victory. That was my only option and it was not optional.

Sacremento eyes crinkled at the edges as Evpraksiya softly laughed under her breath, dilated irises following her dear cousin's line of sight. The Bakir girl was intriguing; cicuta maculatum and cicuta maculata so often grow in the same field. What was that English saying again, "birds of a feather, flock together"? If her Meiyu could find some comfort in her than she was more than overjoyed for the brunette— it were, after all, so terribly long since she was... herself. What girl would be so heartless to not drink in the sight?

Now, Livochka on the other hand, seemed to be far from the easy confidence of Meiyu dear, instead, she seemed to find some interest in their surrounding foliage— Evpraksiya would never understand the interest people take in things that grow from the ground (unless it were the flowers that adorned her gardens) but the idea of hearing Livia speak or ask about them wasn't unpleasant and if it helped to put her cutest cousin at ease than that was the duty of Evpraksiya, wasn't it?

"Epiphytes are oftentimes home to poison dart frogs looking for a place to hide, should I worry about you hopping into one Livochka?" Evpraksiya teased lightly, looking at the aerial plant Livochka was previously looking at. A hand on her cheek as she playfully feigned concern and made a note to place a order for a Brazilian herbarium.

As soon as her team began to move, Lottie followed suit. The unfamiliar surroundings had Lottie's head spinning. It was certainly not like the expansive and open grounds of Hogwarts, nor the clean-cut paths that winded through the Forbidden Forests. There were no elevated candles bobbing wistfully in the open air. Only vines, and moss, and droplets of water that occasionally plopped down into Lottie's hair and made her smell as one with the forest.

There were very few real obstacles to face as Lottie followed her instincts in the direction of Zone 2. Her instincts, and also the rest of her team. Though her discomfort was quite visible, she used this opportunity to carefully examine the girl who had occupied so much of her interest for the past few months. Oddly, Evpraksiya seemed rather... docile. If Lottie didn't know any better, she'd almost say the girl appeared somewhat kind.

She shook away the thought, though it stuck like a spindly termite. Lottie prayed to any and all gods that some trick of fate would bring clarity to her rather dim circumstances. And, of course, perhaps the strength to use her summer more efficiently than the past two. Perhaps uncover the secrets she had long been unearthing.
