Shaking. Erika didn't think she had ever visibly shook as much before then as she did in her entire life. The Great Hall, in front of everyone, she sat with all eyes on her. A nightmare scenario to be sure. Even now, after the Sorting Ceremony, she still felt her heart pounding in her chest. Maybe the hospital win wouldn't be a bad idea. Pull the drapes closed, and hope that her ribs aren't cracking underneath the ferocity of her heartbeat.

"No that would mean..." she thought aloud, a realization coming to her. That would mean yet another stranger right away. She knew it'd be bad. Maybe not this bad. She didn't expect the sorting ceremony. Did anybody ever expect the sorting ceremony? Just what were the founders thinking. Erika felt almost as if it had been a personal assault by the 4 founders themselves, being placed in front of the entire student body like that.

Calm down, breathe. Think of something fun. Fun like ice cream in the privacy of a room at the Leaky Cauldron with just her father and absolutely no strangers. That was fun. No strangers there. That had been good ice cream, and if she hadn't still been in shock, perhaps that night's dessert would have been just as wonderful. At least she could stomach breakfast, but that had been yet another challenge.

Erika glanced towards the door of leading into the Great Hall, and thought of all the faces about her, ready to greet her every meal for the rest of the year. Perhaps, for a tad longer than she should have. Her breath caught in her throat, a little whimper escaping. She drew her robes about herself and closed her eyes as if to shut out the images of all their faces. Erika dashed from the entrance hall into the crisp air out into the expansive courtyard with no real destination in mind, just away from those doors. For the third time, she felt the sting of tears since she'd arrived at Hogwarts. For the third time, Erika cursed herself under her breath, as she ran blindly, by luck or grace of god, avoiding gopher holes.

It's just a class... right? Just how bad can it be. Relax, Erika.

Stomach Grumbling

The sound of quick footsteps would cause a leg twitch near the fountain. With it;s placement, it could be assumed someone was siting down and leaning against it, which was true. Emmanuel was that someone, having ditching immediately after the sorting ceremony to stretch his tired legs. Though his stretching turned into light self sparring to a full blown self workout. Thus led to him tiring himself out and using the fountain to take a quick nap. Now what did this really all amount to? The Shaking paranoid lass wouldn't meet a gopher no, instead would potentially meet the outstretched leg of the Slytherin boy, causing her to trip. Now if she fell flat on her face or was able to catch herself before falling was entirely up to her.

Either from the sudden force against his leg or increasing volume of the footsteps would achieve the goal to wake him up, in a slight stupor from a good nap. This act in itself was an act of aggression against him, sleep was one of his favorite things to do! Needless to say Emmanuel was immediately enraged and about to fire off in Spanish the incompetence and overall stupidity of whoever woke him up. But before the words could formulate, his body automatically moved, trying to stop the person from eating a mouth fool of dirt and rocks.

" Ha! Mi mal—!" Hopefully he could reach, the path to earth would be a harsh one — for her.

Erika with her eyes shut tight as means to repel the built up tears, had failed to see the boy in his own stupor of exhaustion. It seemed the feeling was quite mutual. Unfortunately for Emmanuel, he would feel a sharp kick right around his thigh, driven forward by her positive sprint from the entrance hall.

At least Emmanuel was a bit more perceptive than the blonde girl. "AhAH!" She screamed, her light voice echoing in the other otherwise empty courtyard. His quick arm shot out, and she collided into it. Quite heavily in fact, but for Erika's sake, it was quite a bit softer than the cobblestone surrounding the fountain. Her heart in her throat, Erika waited for the moment her head would inevitably bounce off the ground. And waited. And waited. What felt like ages to her from the rush of adrenaline, but was likely no more than a second at most, Erika peeked one eye open, seeing the ground inches from her nose.

With a heavy gasp of her breath returning to her, Erika scrambling and kicking away from whatever was holding her, tripping over herself and rolling over in case whatever it was pounced on her. Like a jackelope in the headlights, Erika gave him a wide eyed stare, her blue eyes entirely surrounded by white, waiting for him to attack her once again. The tears welled up in the corners of them both, no longer held back by her tightly shut lids.

"U-uh..." she let out a whimper, the heart that had leapt in her throat was all but still with how fast it was beating. Her voice, while normally light, was little more than a squeak. ""w-wa....tch.." she tried again, getting a little more out this time, not daring blink or look away from the boy.

Luckily the little lass didn't have to go in for false teeth at an young age, but unluckily now Emmanuel was rocking a nice sore on his upper thigh. Yes, it was mainly his fault for being out here sleeping and sprawled out making himself a hazard, but he wouldn't attempt to that. One — cause of his pride, two —because the with ample amount of space in the courtyard, why the heck she trip over him?! When Erika came to realization she wouldn't be kissing cobblestone and dashed away like a frightful deer, Emmanuel wouldn't resist her pull, taking in a breath of relief of his own before a furious fire sparked within his honey colored eye's.

Fist clutched tightly and jaw forcefully clenched, it took him a solid 30 seconds to have enough judgement not to immediately burst into a torrent of Spanish curses and insults. However it was when his eye's met Erika's blue and fearful eye's did he calm-down, pitting the anger in his stomach momentarily. " Oye, are you trying to hurt yourself? Heck maybe... You hurt me." His voice matched the words he spoke, harsh but there was obvious hints of concern within them. Turning towards the direction she came from, he could narrow down where she had originally ran from. ' Did she get sorted into a house she hates? Well what do I know, they all seemed alright to me.'He thought to himself.

Slowly he walked over to the frightened girl, crouching down into a squat and donning a smile that seemed a bit too sweet. Though later she'd understand this was the smile he had before attempting something funny, or stupid...Maybe a little both. Slowly he'd offer his right-hand to shake and help her up, taking the chance to introduce himself.

" Me llamo Emmanuel Min Requiza, y usted — My name is Emmanuel, and you? You didn't barrel out her like you seen a ghost due to the sorting hat did you?"

A few seconds passed as his question hung in the air, with only the reddening of her cheeks growing deeper to pass the time. Erika felt that humiliating warmth spread across her cheeks, unwanted tears forming in the corners of her eyes. She swiped, a scowl disguised beneath a trembling bottom lip.

Erika raised her arm when Emmanuel approached, holding it defensively between them, afraid of what more he might try and do to her, besides trying to make her eat gravel and concrete. Instead it was a question, instead of further assault. "I-I," she began, trying to answer his question, not even thinking about why. It had come to her quite unexpectedly.

Her eyes flicked back and forth, to everywhere but right at Emmanuel, who was quite a bit way too close for her tastes."My name is, E-Er." The trembling in her slowly came to a halt over her body. Erika realized something important. Emmanuel was alone, and so was she. A weight disappeared from her shoulders, something that had crushed her during the sorting ceremony.

"I, NO!" She answered his second question fully at least. No way was she going to admit that to some boy she'd just met. "I was not!" Frankly put, she thought she did quite well during the sorting. It was the first hurdle, and she'd passed it. Brilliantly, she might add.

Erika finally looked to the boy, seeing the offered hand. For a moment, she thought of accepting it. Then, slowly raised her hand to his, pausing at the last moment. Maybe he wasn't so bad. Just an idiot that got in her way, rather than just a malicious boy. Her wide eyed stare looked into the boy, unfortunately completely ignorant of his mischievous smile, and it's meaning. She offered him a hint of a smile before taking his hand, just as he was taking responsibility for knocking her down by helping her up.
