𝔗he library was silent, as expected of the room past curfew.
Good Emma thought. No librarian to rat us out, and no other students to try and shoo away.
Emma had the idea for the ‘Dead Wizards Society’ after a surprisingly lovely talk with her father over Christmas holiday (something with which she couldn’t recall with any certainty having before that moment) when they found his old poems hidden away in a book in their library.
He told her that in his days at Hogwarts, he had rallied a group of his friends, who were all very academic like him, to sneak out after curfew and read poems and books that their parents would forbid, such as ones of Muggle origin.
This suprised Emma throughly, as she didn’t expect her father of all people to stray from the rules like that.
He had always been more acccepting of Muggle culture than her mother was, but this was something she never thought he would tell her. She wondered if he had ever told her mother this.
It was a club that even hosted some Muggleborns (her father told her this in a whisper, as if it was some shocking secret) as its secret popularity grew.
To finalize his shocking talk with her, he handed her a book hidden behind some of the oldest books on the shelves, ones that were collecting dust from underuse (a very smart place to hide something), and handed her book titled ‘Collections from the Great Edgar Allen Poe’, and told her she could keep it.
Emma devoured the poems in two days, reading and rereading them over holiday with delicious satisfaction.
She kept thinking of what her father said to her, and the strange glint in his eye when he handed the poems to her. She thought about what he said, that the group brought people together in a way that his parents, in their Pureblood mania, would be scandalized with.
As she put the book in her trunk the night before she was to go back to Hogwarts, something strange shifted out of the space between the binding and the pages.
A letter, addressed to a group of men Emma had grown up knowing as some of her father’s closest friends, inviting them to the ‘First Dead Wizards Society meeting, the restricted section of the library (her father had acssess at the time), midnight, September 12, 2000. Don’t let anyone follow you.’
And it was in that moment that she knew what her father wanted. To revive the group.
So she sat and waited for everyone to arrive.
NOTE: I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE LIBRARIAN, AND THIS THREAD IS NOT IN THE RESTRICTED SECTION, SINCE I DO NOT HAVE ACSESS. I MADE A MISTAKE IN THE ORIGINAL DWS SIGN UP BECAUSE I HADN’T ASKED YET. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM LABELING THE LOCATION AS THE RESTRICTED SECTION. IT IS SIMPLY HELD IN A SECLUDED CORNER OF THE LIBRARY.

She wasn’t supposed to be there. Sia knew that. She could hardly believe herself, going to the restricted section of the library, after curfew no less. What would mum and dad say?
She could already imagine. Mum would give her a lecture on respecting the rules and thinking of her future and all the usual stuff. Dad wouldn’t be thrilled either, but he’d understand. He was the one who grew Sia’s love for literature, after all. He’d understand. She’d be forgiven.
This was just too good an opportunity to pass up. A chance to discuss poetry while sprinkling a bit of rebellion into her life, and maybe even make some new friends. It would be worth a detention if she got caught. She’d believe that if she repeated it to herself enough, surely.
So there she was, in black jeans and a pink blouse, with a poem in her pocket and a rose in her hand. The rose was a family tradition. Give your host a rose and make your family name known.
When Sia got there, she found a single blonde girl sitting, waiting. A soft smile came naturally to her face as she held the rose closer.
“Miss Emma van Elst, I presume.”

Aelis wasn’t sure if it was a prank or not… but she knew she had to go there. Her father only showed her philosophy, like Voltaire or John Locke. She liked them, her dad read their books as a night reading, before sleep.
The library was silent, no students. “Of course, it’s prohibited to be here at this hour. Are you dumb or something?” she whispered to herself. She didn’t plan to do something like that. Especially not now! She knew her mother would be angry and her father too… but she also knows… he will be secretly proud of her. His daughter? Doing something she wasn’t supposed to? To make new friends and meet people? He would be really happy and proud of her.
She was holding “A Letter Concerning Toleration” by John Locke, she knew it wasn’t poetry… but for her, philosophy was a type of poetry. It may not have fancy rimes and words… but it was as beautiful. She always loved ,because of her father, thinking about complicated subjects… like religions or political regimes, like socialism and communism, she loved learning what was good and what was only good on paper and not in practice.
She saw two shadows, she assumed one must be Emma Van Elst. She smiled and whispered to them: “Hi… is the dead wizards society meeting here?”

Wisteria walked to the library, quickening her steps. She didn't want to be late. This might be her only opportunity to discuss literature with like-minded people.
Wisteria was carrying a bag of some of her favorite books of all time, which consisted of No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai, Demons by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and a short story called Ward No. 6 by Anton Chekhov. These were her 4 most favorite books ever. She also brought a poetry book, it was called The Poems of Nakahara Chūya. She loved it because it provided a break from all the dark literature she had been reading. It was her favorite poetry book ever. Chūya's poems were about loss, grief, and the fleeting nature of life. They were more melancholic than dark, and Wisteria loved that.
Wisteria loved to read dark literature. Profound alienation, nihilism, the human condition... it all fascinated her. Her parents thought all these intense, dark themes impacted her mental health, but Wisteria didn't care. She saw dark literature as something that ripped away all delusion and exposed the raw truth. It forced people to confront the darkest depths of themselves.
Books like these are certainly not for the weak... Wisteria thought. She finally reached the library and looked around. trying to find the club members.
There.
She walked up to the three people standing in a secluded corner of the library. She didn't need to ask if they were the members of the Dead Wizards Society. She just knew. These people were like her. She tightened her grip on her bag, ready to discuss some of her favorite books and poems. She hadn't brought any of her own poetry, rather, she'd already memorized it.

dead wizards society meeting one

✶
Clark was wide awake in his dormitory, when he found the Letter, tugged between pages of one of the many books he was reading. It was wrapped in an envelope, of a rich ivory color, it‘s edges faintly rough, carrying the subtle scent of aged paper and candle wax. There was no crest pressed into the seal, no written name on the front, so no clue who had sent it. Inside there was only one single sheet, the ink flowing across the page in elegant, deliberate strokes. His eyes had traced the neatly written words on it, that were saying “Dead Wizards Society. Mett after curfew, Library.“
Normally Clark wouldn‘t listen to such a thing, because it wasn‘t like him to follow directions and instructions, but that had to mean something, so now he found himself, walking through the corridors of Hogwarts Castle, wearing blue jeans shorts, with a black belt, in combination with a white suit shirt, and over that a patterned knitted vest in neutral tones. His black polished shoes clicked with each contact to the ground, while his brown Crossbody Bag rested heavily on his shoulder, feeling heavy, with the book that it kept hidden from one‘s sneeky eyes.
His bag kept hidden poetries from his favourite writers such as Christian Rosseti, a muggle poet. His absolute favourite Poem from her would always be “The Goblin Market“, having inspired many of his own poems, that he also carried with him tonight. His free hand held his wand, the cherry wand was slightly tilted forward, white light emerging from the tip. He jad casted Lumos, to guide the way to the Library, the place he cherished the most, among the places he visited at hogwarts. It was a Place that had never judged him for his interests, for the books he had read, for all the ink he had used to fill those empty pieces of parchment. It was the Place that had seen him do everything. And it was the only place he felt safe in, after another rough werwolf transformation. Speaking off, he had just gone through one the past week, and he was still bandaged up, a visible bandage still rested on his cheek. A Cheek that carried a scar, that would probably be permanent. Another thing he had to explain to people.
Hopefully those poeple he would meet now, wouldn‘t ask any horrible questions.
While being lost in his thoughts, Clark had arrived in at the Library, he made the light that his wand casted, go out immediately. He pushed the doors open to the library, Clark lowered his footsteps immediately. The familiar scent of parchment and ink, e ahd thought about earlier embraced him. He let his eyes sweep across the room.
He heared dimmed voices, and followed them, to a rather secluded area of the library.
As he walked across the corner his eyes fell on the other students that were sitting there, and his eyes went wide.
Emma van Elst.
What was she doing here? Probably because of the same reason Clark was here.
She occupied one of the larger tables in the corner of the library, though unlike every other time he had seen her, this time she wasn‘t alone.
Three other girls sat alongside her, at the table.
Clark didn‘t recognise any of them.
He remained rooted just next to an aisle of books, probably longer than necessary, quietly taking in the scene while unconsciously turning one of the silver rings around his finger.

The letter Jay had got had been quite… interesting to say the least. It was incredibly fancy for something to be sent to a student, so why?
She slid open the envelope carefully, trying to keep all evidence intact. Inside in lovely handwriting that Jay swore she had seen before it read, “Dead Wizards Society. Mett after curfew, Library.“
The letter was vague and annoyingly it had an air of mystery to it, although that was probably what was meant to happen. Eventually after about an hour of pacing around, Jay decided to go.
She only took what she needed, her bag and her wand, along with her ferret of course. When she got down the stairs the common room was dark, the fire pit was out and so the only light came from the windows that only showed vast darkness with tiny pinpricks of green light trying to filter through the lake.
“Lumos” she whispered under her breath as her wand lit up the common room with a cool glow, reflecting off the polished tables and chess pieces as she made her way towards the exit.
On her way up to the library the castle was absolutely silent except for the occasional scuttling noise, most likely mice or someone’s pet. There was one point where Jay’s heart dropped to her stomach when she heard footsteps but luckily they were going in the opposite path.
Eventually she got to the library, the towering bookshelves looking slightly eerie in the light of her wand. Jay waved it again, this time calling out “Nox”
With her wand extinguished she could make her way into the library without alerting anyone of her presence, even these Dead Poets Society people. The library was usually a comforting place for Jay, but now it was a maze of parchment and wood that never seemed to end.
As she got further in she could hear voices whispering in low and hushed tones and Jay gripped her wand, ready for anything to jump out at her, but surprisingly when she turned the corner and pointed her wand out all there was were students. Normal students.
Jay recognised two of them, one being from her potions class, Emma while the other… Jay seethed as she saw the other girl. Wisteria. Completely ignoring her, Jay lowered her wand and looking around at the others.
In total there were six people including herself, four girls all sitting at the table and one boy standing alone fiddling with a ring on his finger. Not the group Jay had expected but she was sure there was more to come from this… Dead Wizards Society.

𝕴t was approaching midnight, a time Robin was usually asleep already. Recently maybe not "soundly" asleep due to multiple near-death experiences, but nonetheless laying in bed trying. Today is different though, the boy posed as a bookworm devouring pages of the Crime and Punishment copy Mikaela had lent him, despite having finished the novel already. He planed to return it when the students gather in the Great Hall tomorrow morning, since he didn't have another chance before that after the detention incident. Robin took his glasses off and rubbed his eyebrows at the memories of that event. He's still debating whether or not he should tell his parents about it . . . but that isn't his main concern tonight.
In short, the boy found a letter inviting him and presumably anyone else who saw it to a gathering in the library. Specifically a poetry one, as everyone needed to bring their favorite piece or something they composed themselves. Up to this point it would've been something Robin didn't hesitate to get there the earliest, but that wasn't all. The meeting time is supposed to be after curfew, midnight, even. Of course that doesn't align with the rules, but here's the thing—they're leaving tomorrow. There's no time for another detention (and boy does he never want to participate in another one), faculty and prefects are also probably more laid back compared to mid-semester. The risk was minimal, the gain was tremendous—not anything monetary of course, just the chance to discuss another form of literature he enjoys and collect another "unusual" experience.
Even though Robin dislikes danger, his previous misadventures seem to have loosened his reins. The two traumatic events shook his core, but that also meant they caused ripples in his disturbing indifference. Robin would do many things to push himself away from a hideous mind and towards the soft embrace of normalcy.
Robin arrived at the library without any trouble. As it was his first time sneaking out after curfew, the boy was unavoidably nervous. Still, he navigated the halls quite well, successfully approaching his destination. There were muffled noises, possibly speech coming from a secluded section of the library. They weren't loud, he had to listen very carefully to notice. Robin gripped his satchel, inside are his water bottle, his poetry notebook with Acquainted with the Night transcribed in it, and the Crime and Punishment copy from Mikaela. He didn't bring any of his fathers' collections to Hogwarts, but he did transcribe some of his favorite ones on a notebook to accompany him, American poet Robert Frost's Acquainted with the Night was one of them. As for Dostoevsky's novel, he only brought it in case Mikaela came to the gathering too. It was possible, as she also enjoyed poems and even hosted a small club dedicated to writing them. It would also be easier for him to return the book tonight as opposed to tomorrow morning, when he needs to shuffle through countless shoulders to get to a specific one.
Oh well, Robin picked up his pace once more, fingers still wrapped around the straps of his bag, there's no turning back.
Of course there is, he just isn't willing to at this point.
Turning around the corner of a shelf, Robin first sees a boy standing some distance away from the main group, cautious, perhaps. Robin followed the boy's gaze and quickly realized that the remaining participants, those who've arrived, at least, were all girls around the same age as him. Robin too, stood by a shelf. He also observed his fellow students quietly, but nodded to anyone who met his gaze whether purposefully or accidentally. He tried not to look nervous, but wasn't sure how effective that was.
Mikaela wasn't there, Robin concluded, but that didn't sadden him up too much. It was still a gathering where they'd discuss literature. Still exciting.

Coded by Melissa BlakeLast night at Hogwarts. Who would've thought I'd spend a whole year in the same school? It was a dream.
I sighed while I finished packing up my stuff, leaving out only the things I'd need tomorrow: The wand, the uniform, muggle clothes, a book, and...
Ah, yes. The letter. I really need to stop joining weird midnight clubs. If I had a galleon for each time I was convened to a club, first meeting at midnight, that sounded like a creepy version of the very famous Order of the Phoenix, I'd have two. Which isn't a lot, but it's fun that happened twice, right?
So here I am, slipping through the hallways once again, in complete silence. It's not the first time I do this. The last time I did it, though, my sister discovered me, we got detention, and...
I held my left arm, unconsciously. No. I swore I'd never think of that again. It never happened, period.
Hanging from my shoulder, a small bag swinged. Inside, a copy of Ariel, written by my Saint Sylvia Plath, and a few poems I wrote by hand.
Those ones were not meant to see the light of day. Honestly, I just brought them for... I don't even know why.
Once I got to the library, it surprised me to see a few familiar faces. What the hell was Jay doing here?
But more important, why was Robin here?
He was closer to me than Jay. It looked like the meeting hadn't started yet. So I'm not late. I stood up behind Robin in complete silence, just looking at the other faces, analyzing them from the shadows of the library.
I'd talk to Jay on my way out. By now, the boy in front of me was a great company.
"Robin." I greeted him, whispering his name behind his ear with a smirk.Stamina: 8 | Evasion: 7 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 8
