The girl sitting crossed-legged, leaning her back against her house. In her hand, there was a letter, came from an owl a few days back as if it was just like the ordinary day back then when the pigeon-mail era still popular. She already read that letter more than three times, or more, she didn't count. But, no matter how many times she repeats it again and again, the words inscribe there ... is still there.
Dear Student,
We pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy.
Please find enclose a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1.
"How?" That was the first word she said when she finished reading the letter for the first time. Baffled. "Am I a witch?"
She looked up at her parents, which unfortunately have the same confusion and question-looked just like their daughter. The father even need to took off his glasses, grabbed the letter close to his face and rereading it again more thoroughly.
There was no mistake indeed. The letter is authentic. He is aware he ever saw this school logo before, but when or where ... he couldn't really tell precisely.
The girl sighed, leaned her head to the wall, letting the cool breeze brushing her face with a little more power than any other days before. She still doesn't have any idea what to do with the letter. What necessary equipment? What owl? She rarely met one besides that one who delivered the letter to her house. And now, as if to make the matters more troublesome, August nearly come.
"Millicent."
She looked up, looking at her father who had just come out from the shed. He just stand there, giving her a brief smile. She stood up, slowly walking towards her father.
"I knew there's something I've realized when I saw that letter," he said, jerking his chin at the letter in his daughter's hand. He pulled out something from his trouser's pocket, then outstretched his other hand to his daughter, "Now, if we looked at it and compared it."
He brought the two pieces of paper in his hand close together, and there, he found that one thing in common. The logo. School logo. Hogwarts. The corner of his lip curled up, then he brought it closer to his daughter so she can see it too.
"Did you get the same letter too, Papa?"
"No. It is belong to your great-granpa. Remember that one time I told you one of your ancestor is a hunter?" he said, causing the girl nod. "Yes, it was him. I like his outgoing and free-will personality, so I'm pretty close to him. He liked to showing off whatever he does back then, so I thought he also liked to fooled me when he said he ever hunted a fairy or ... pixy, if I remember correctly from what he said its name."
"So, my great-granpa was a wizard?"
"He rarely talked about that. Bet my parents also skeptical about him, that's why he just like any other granpa to me and my siblings." He handed over the papers in his hand to his daughter, letting her inspected it by herself as he continued, "But then when that letter come to you, Millie, I hope I can asked and heard more about that too myself when he still alive."
He softly clicked his tongue as he brushed his daughter's hair who still seems occupied by the papers in her hands. As the bird's flock flew to the horizon and sky above getting reddish, he lead the girl to their house while saying, "Come on now. Let's see and prepare what we'll need for your new school."
