ReducioThe eye of the beholder onto which the right to the judgement of beauty had been bestowed had been unusually— and consistently— kind to Dahlia Lee. Newborn babies, despite what new parents may claim, were widely known to be ugly, wrinkled little creatures with faces red from tears and irritation. Granted, the Lee family did not receive Dahlia until months after her birth due to adoption proceedings between her birth mother, a Veela, and the mother who would come to raise her for the remainder of her childhood. The legal proceedings were done under the cover of secrecy. Meanwhile, a guise explaining Dahlia’s post-birth state was put forward to the public as to protect the Lee family from scandal. It was imperative, as her mother stated, that their young daughter be treated as a sensitive flower. She ought to remain sheltered from the public eye until her sensibilities were about her. Or, in reality, they could not introduce the baby to extended family members until legal processes had been completed.
Hence, after months, when Dahlia was in the custody of the Lee family and ready to be seen by the public, she looked less like a pink blob and more like a porcelain baby doll of centuries past. The daughter's appearance became a long-awaited topic of conversation for relatives. Her parents both possessed features that fit the cultural standards of beauty in Korea but not so much for either of them to be seen as remarkable or unusual in any way. Dahlia resembled them in some ways, one could argue. However, it was unquestionable that there was something else going on with the daughter. An enchanting aura, one might call it. Those with expert knowledge in the field of magical lineage would recognize it to be a Veela's allure. The Lee family, however, did not speak of such matters.
Her features were sculpted in such a way that one could not fault them. It felt incorrect to, as if she had been crafted by a particularly patient and temperamental artisan who ought not to be offended. Dahlia, in her current incarnation, held the rare capability of indifference toward her own face. The treatment of those who value beauty as a virtue and the lack thereof as an excuse for ill-mannered conduct flew, for the most part, over the young witch's head. She only knew her own perspective— the perspective of a girl whose relatives and strangers alike loaded her with compliments and self-confidence from a young age. No one made it known to her that they treated her differently because of her appearance.
Hence, the witch did not bother with her appearance. She took care of herself, yes. Hygiene, obviously, was a must. Fashion and makeup were for self-expression rather than beauty. However, Dahlia would rather be the sort of witch whose features intrigue rather than enchant— a metamorphmagus, a dhampir, or really anything other than a humanoid species whose physical form was that of an human but enhanced in some way. Beauty was truly boring.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Prodigal Flying Learner
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Angel was a second-year student at Hogwarts; she had already become a well-known young scholar at the school. She was as humble as ever, but so many students knew her as a person who was an incredible talent and a lifelong student. Frequently, she would be in the library with a pile of books next to her, studying beyond the scope of class assignments. Angel thought that there was always something new she could learn whether it was magical theory, mysterious witches and wizards, or forgotten wizarding history.
In retrospect, her first year was so successful, and having seen the incredible success story of her career, it was no wonder that people still look up to her. She did very well in practically all of her classes at the outset. She came to every class with a smile on her face and was always eager to learn and find out how and why things were the way they were. She had a good memory and a curious nature which enabled her to learn difficult things rapidly, usually picking up new spells and techniques after a couple of tries. She rather than displaying her skills, helped her classmates who needed additional practice, believing that learning should be fun for everyone.
Hearing of all her accomplishments, students from each of the houses throughout the castle started calling her a young prodigy. If she continued to hone her skills, some thought she could become one of the best witches of her time. Angel enjoyed the compliments but wouldn't let that get to her. She knew that talent is worth nothing unless it is combined with hard work, perseverance, and a desire for further knowledge.
There was one thing that she remembered from her first year that people still found surprising; her first flying lesson. Angel's first time on a broomstick was before adulthood, at Hogwarts. She had read all she could in books, but had no experience at flying. Still, she approached the training ground with quiet confidence and a desire to do something new.
As soon as she was told to bring her broom, on the first try it flew straight into her hand. When she flew off the ground it was clear that she had an unexpected natural talent. Angel was obviously familiar with the broom's ways and had no trouble keeping his balance or driving. She immediately got used to it and was able to make smooth circles around the practice area and perform all the movements with control. At the end of the lesson, even students who grew up around broomsticks were astonished that someone never having experienced them could learn them so rapidly.
As a second year student, Angel pushed herself further in her studies but was also keen to learn more about the magical world, exploring every corner. She did not consider herself to be all-knowing. Instead, she viewed each lesson, each book and each challenge as an opportunity to develop further. There was no doubt that Angel's story at Hogwarts was just unfolding, and many thought that her best yet lay before her, due to her intelligence, determination, and love for knowledge.

- You reference the Flying Professor as Madam Hooch. Madam Hooch is no longer a Professor at Hogwarts, and has not been for many years. The current Flying Professor is Ruckus Weems, please adjust it to be so.
- You directly god-mod Madam Hooch speaking to Angel, saying the following:
“Madam Hooch frequently credited her with being a natural flyer, and stated that Angel had the instincts of an experienced pilot, though she was still a very young one.”Assuming you are referencing Professor Weems, please ask them directly for god-modding permissions.- Many broad statements are made regarding how the Professors and student body perceive Angel. Although you can state that she excelled, please avoid making sweeping statements about how entire groups of people feel about your character—we want to avoid god-modding as much as possible.

- Please do not delete my moderation notes. I have restored them.
- Much of your application discusses Angel excelling in History of Magic, and her interests in not only reading about ancient civilizations, but also in sharing conversations about them with her friends. As nice as this is, this doesn’t reflect how she is a Prodigal Flying Learner. Does she practice outside of class? How does she practice? What does she like about flying? Please make sure that your application reflects what you’re applying for.

As said above, your application does not reflect the ability you're applying for. Thank you for adding mentions of flying, and for stating she's a natural at it, but we would also need you to precise she's trained again, and again in this particular subject! She could have read books, spent hours on the field perfecting her flying techniques, listen attentively in class, etc! Please add those details to your application and you'll be good to go!

Pericles had immersed himself in the arcane arts from a young age, interweaving these studies into the fabric of his very being. Since his first instance of magic, wherein he attacked a home intruder by pelting them with books, he cultivated an obsession over this innate force. Being a "pureblood" was incidental. He was fortunate enough to have been born during an era where modernized wix knew genealogy had little to do with one's propensity for casting, and didn't allow the delusion to sully his perspective. Yet as a mage- born to a lineage of proficient warlocks- he understood this power to be his birthright. Magic was as much a part of Pericles as the heart in his chest. Brick by brick, he built upon his ability to wield it. His spells never backfired [Perfectionist x2], but could in fact be multiplied [Spell Spread], and he trained to command them without a physical focus [Wandless]. Unbound by typical necessities, the wizard developed a relationship with mana as intimate as it was technical. His greatest assets were his valuation for the arcane and his knowledge of Magical Theory.
After a childhood spent dedicating himself to the nature of magic, Pericles had gained an understanding which bordered on spiritual. The fundamental laws were his holy writ, the works of Magical Theoreticians his scripture, and the use of mana was a devotional display. Spells were more than a word and wave of a wand: they were rituals. He absorbed the written work of elders such as Eleazar Fig, Adalbert Waffling, and Gareth Greengrass. He meditated with his mother and trained tirelessly alongside his grandmother. Even though his father hadn't wielded a wand since "the accident", Isaac oversaw his son's progression, passing along all he had once been capable of. Throughout his final year at Hogwarts, Pericles pointedly favored a lack of wand when casting. He perhaps utilized magic to a degree his compatriots might deem excessive. As far as the Ravenclaw was concerned, his arcane power could be exercised the same as any muscle. Repetition led to familiarity. Familiarity meant ease. He could simply gesture and whisper a word, not one to seize mana like a reined animal, but breathing his will into reality. Over time, he stopped speaking the incantations altogether. Magic wasn't in a word, wand movement, nor symbols or runes. Magic was in everything, and all he had to do was coax it to pass through him.

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
ReducioWhen Santiago had mastered the patronus charm in his fifth year, he hadn’t considered the possibilities beyond its immediate purpose. Its purpose had been simple: to repel Dementors. That the physical manifestation of his happiness could be used for anything else was something he’d never considered since. In all honesty, once the obsession over controlling something he’d be unlikely to encounter anyway had settled, Santi had moved on, sparing the charm and its enemy very little thought through his adult years. After all, very few situations, none in fact, required the jaguar that had once pounced from the tip of his wand to aid him in his day-to-day life. Beautiful as it was, he rarely saw the smoke of his patronus. Except for his immediate family who had been first to be reported of his success, he suspected no one knew that it existed at all.
Even when he’d graduated from Castelobruxo, travelled here and there while finishing his studies in magical law, and then finally returned home to begin climbing the professional ladder in the ministry of magic in Brazil, his tasks mostly consisted of paperwork and court cases. Nit-picking the fine print in contracts for clients and untangling legal disputes were a far cry from the reality Santi had once feared, when he’d seen, through the memory of another man, the consequences of the Dementor’s Kiss. Bizarre, really, how something that was inherently so inhumane had been given such a poetic name.
The possibility of using his patronus as a messenger only became a plausible idea when he discovered the existence of his daughter. As the universe would have it, a girl of his own flesh and blood—whom he had never once suspected existed—was attending the very school he now ran. The welcome and congratulations on his new position was certainly an unforgettable experience. His first instinct, once the acute shock had settled enough for him to speak a word, was that he wanted control. Logan was a stranger to him in every way that mattered socially, but absence, or lack of knowledge, did not erase responsibility. For twelve years, Santiago had not had anything to do with his daughter; and yet now, he could not simply remain untouched by the reality of her existence.
That need for control surfaced in subtler ways at first: the urge to speak to her, to understand her, to account for all the years he had not been part of. She, however, wanted nothing to do with him. Whenever he walked into a room, she excused herself. When he appeared in corridors, she turned away in the opposite direction, except for the rare occasions where she simply refused to acknowledge him at all. He hated to admit that the rejection hurt more than it should have. He understood her reasons completely, and still there was resentment—quiet, persistent—that he had never been given the opportunity to be there for her, and yet was now being treated as though it had been his decision.
Given no other choice, Santiago had to opt for more creative measures to reach out. If she didn’t want to talk to him, perhaps she could talk to someone else. With a new memory than what had originally conjured his patronus all those years ago, he’d cast the patronus charm in his office one evening.
“Long time no see, my friend,” Santiago murmured as the majestic feline unfurled itself into the room, pacing through the space as though it remembered him. The sight pulled something small and unguarded loose in his expression. He could not help but smile, faintly, at the familiarity of it.
“I need you to deliver a message for me,” he said, and the jaguar regarded him with a softness in its eyes that made it seem as though it understood him.
Corporeal Patronus Messenger — a jaguar may appear where he cannot reach.

Between her best friend, Briar's disappearance and her argument with another close friend, Rosalyn, Lauren gained the mistaken belief that she was hated by everyone in this world, and that no one would ever come to like her. Due to this and combined with the hatred of her family, she often isolated herself from others during the summer.
Briar's disappearance had shaken her in every way, and Lauren was no longer the ambivert who made her friends feel at ease. In her first year, everything was just... normal, if you didn't count her family relationships. She had no enemies in Hogwarts, yet things seemed to be a little... different this year. Her friends distanced themselves from her, and she could see disgust on their faces when she tried to speak to them. It might have been because she was... emotionless. She didn't seem to be interested in anything, and when she was being spoken to, she would always be lost in her own thoughts, trapped in her guilt and self-loathing. Sometimes, she would even snap at her own friends or attempt to attack them for no reason. So when her friends wanted her company, they would be turned away, every time.
They would grow tired of being rejected. They'd hate Lauren because she was an amazing person in her first year (to most of her friends, even though she had still been immensely selfish) but most certainly was the opposite of that in her second year. She would never tell anyone the source of the change in her personality because she didn't want others to think that she was, in any sense, weak. People would also naturally start to ignore and distance themselves from her.
Yet there was something else about Lauren Loratrix Vanes that seemed... wrong. Something about her appearance, or the way she normally did things. The girl was still as self-conscious as she ever was before, but everything just wasn't right. She used to overthink everything and manage to make people think what she wanted to think -- for most of the time, at least. But she didn't care anymore. People could tell her that they hated her to her face, and she wouldn't give a care.
Her billowing blonde hair had previously been... well, billowing. Free. Something that couldn't be restricted no matter what. But now, the hair that flailed around smoothly before cast shadows on the ground and chilled everyone's spines. There was just... something wrong about Lauren. She was no longer who she used to be.
She was starting to be something darker. An extreme version of what she had thought herself to be in her first year.
A monster. One that did more harm than good to the world.

The art of healing is a delicate one, one that requires a lot of practice and patience. Luckily Mylo has quite a few people in their life who have forced given them the opportunities to do so, making sure that they had had a variety of scenarios to practice not only magical healing, but non-magical healing as well.
Thanks to their friends and sisters sacrifices Mylo had practised their healing spells and talents so often that they could do most in their dreams, and without any active thought. Due to this they had started noticing that most of their spells seemed to have become better, that wounds healed slightly faster and that they could heal wounds that previously only would partially heal. It was very rewarding to see the fruits of their labour, even if it meant that once again someone had demonstrated their lack of self preservation.
It really was quite impressive to see how some people seemed to just be able to override their body's natural defence mechanisms, putting themselves in mortal danger that they seemed to classify as 'fun'.
They had found however that not just the practising of the spells themselves had helped, it was actually the experience of healing people. Something they had realised after spending a bit of time at home.
While at home Mylo had thought about attaching some kind of device to Andrea, one that would alert him when she got within about 50 meters of them. This way they would have time to grab their first aid kit before she got to them, because every single time she appeared in their eye line she had some kind of wound on her body.
Most not that serious, just a scratch or a sting, but enough that they didn't want to leave it untreated. Luckily she had never come round with a serious injury as Mylo couldn't use magic around her, being underage in a muggle household, so they didn't have access to the incredible healing they had been privy to on multiple occasions. Being at home really put into perspective how careless some of his fellow students could be, purely because they knew that whatever happened there was a high likelyhood that it would be easily treated with a flick of their wand or a gulp of a potion.
At home Mylo didn't have this luxury, so they had resorted to memorisation. They had spent countless hours pouring over basic medical information, with the intention that if they knew how everything worked they would be able to more effectively treat injuries and they would be able to notice the signs if something was more serious. This had also easily transferred over to their magical abilities, as they were all still human after all.
Thanks to their hours of practice and study Mylo now knew what spells or potions would work best under which circumstances, even if they didn't poses the ability to cast said spell or brew the necessary potions yet, giving them a sense of peace at the thought that the next time one of their friends tried to dare each other to do something stupid they would be better equipped to handle the situation.

“Incredibly beautiful”, those were words Persephone Grimsbane would never use to describe herself. Humility was the cover that was easiest to don. Growing up in an overly conservative home with parents who disparage such things as vanity and self-indulgence, her own inherent beauty had never been something the young girl focused. And why should she? With six siblings, and an upbringing that insisted one never look too closely inward, it was always easier to notice the beauty in others.
Isla had pretty eyes, Rowan had silky hair. Little Seraphine had a smile that could melt the heart of the Grinch himself if he ever stopped by the farm one Christmas. Poppy had them all but never dared look closely enough to realise.
It was easy to overlook the sparkle in eyes that changed colours too often for her parents liking, and difficult to see the sunshine hidden inside a smile that was always too timid to be seen. It didn’t mean they didn’t exist, but that they weren’t in the right environment to breathe.
Allistair and Celeste had done a fine job with their brood. The family, so highly regarded by the members of their church, always received compliments of how beautiful the family appeared each Sunday they arrived in their best and cleanest attire. The children were all so very darling, but over the years, people’s eyes began lingering a little longer on Poppy even in the crowd of blonde hair and eyes in varying shades of blue or green.
Over the years, she’d grown well into her features, the combination of genes fitting in just the right proportions that those who valued fairness could no longer say “she’s as pretty as the others”. All the Grimsbane children are lovely to look at, helped in no small part by the pride their mother takes in their appearance. But even covered in mud, knees full of cuts and scrapes, there was just something about Poppy.
Her mother began to notice in the later years but never thought to bring it up, fearing the seeds of pride and vanity might creep their way into an “already wayward child”. Celeste refused to call those defiant colour changing eyes beautiful. She refused to let her daughter know that when her hair changed textures until it resembled fine silk, it was the most satisfying thing to look at and touch.
To Persephone, she was simply one of many in a crowded home, where her differences weren’t celebrated but berated.
At Hogwarts, all that changed. It was subtle at first, a glance she could easily dismiss as her own imagination, a conversation that lingered long after it was clear the person no longer had anything to say. Students were starting to notice what others had been too polite or reluctant to say.
Poppy truly was a lovely creature.

Clark having to learn how to heal himself at a very young age, wasn‘t something Clark had planned out of free will, but it simply became part of his daily life.
With his parents presence having become less and less, after the incident occured, where his father had bit him on a full moon, turning Clark into a werwolf, left Clark with a paremant scar, that was not only physical but it also left him emotionally unstable.
The halls became quieter in the Stellan estate, leaving Clark alone with Finlay most of the time. Officially, Finlay was the family's butler. In Clark's eyes he was the one who stayed by his side, and was also the one, who awakened his interest in healing, because after each transformation into a werwolf, that left it's own collection of wounds, some were brusies that were blue and purple, while some were deeper, that needed more attention than just being covered by a bandage. Finlay was always assisting him after every painful night, explaining the the means and affects some herbs had, why one could soothe the pain, while the other could reduce someone's swelling, and how some leaves had to be crushed before they could be used.
All those matters, made Clark just watch and learn, till it just made click in his head. A click that fueled by the constant watching of Finlay's treatments regarding Clark's body. That motivated Clark to do it himself, just so he could lift the burden of Finlay's shoulders.
Not so long after, Finlay hardly needed to assist him anymore, because Clark started to prepare the herbs by himself, grinding the carefully selected dried plants with a mortar and pestle, before finally mixing them into thick green pastes, that he kept in small containers. Also he looked out on how thight he should wrap his bandages around the wounds that marked his body, and how to detect a bruise that would heal on it‘s own, while some others might need cooling herbs instead.
It seemed like he had a hand for such things, and that didn‘t go unnoticed by Finlay as well, but he clearly supported Clark in everything he did.
Good thing the Stellan estate had a library, that slowly, but truly became the friend to Clark's growing interest on human anatomy and biology. He was often found surrounded by books that showed diagrams of skeletons. He was also fascinated by the muscles, the organs, and how everything in a human body worked, but on the other side he also showed great interest in all the different races that existed in the Wizarding world. He was eager to get to know a Lot more about merpeople, cenaturs, goblins and every other magical race that was out there, because having the ability to even accomodate them, was something that fueled him, to keep going. Clark just wanted to fully understand every difference, every weakness, and all the ways a body could heal itself.
And all that encouraged Clark to be socially more active, being aware of those around him, it not only proved his quiet stubborn nature, to use his hands and talent to help those who needed it, but it also underlines from where this desire deeply came from.
It shows that Clark had found a talent where he never expected to find one.

Mikaela Hendricks is going to be a duellist. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but she's going to be a duellist. During her first year at Hogwarts, when she walked for the first time into the Duelling club after signing up for Ravenclaw and staying on the waitlist, she decided to practice some of the spells. Then, she evolved and began participating on unofficial duels.
What's curious about it is the way she adapted. She learned how to avoid the spells. She knew how to move, when to move and where to move. At first, she thought it was just beginner's luck. Then, maybe it was just her reflexes. But then the third duel came, and when a tarantallegra hit her, she felt like she was losing all her dignity. And while she hit some kind of Spanish move, she swore it would never happen to her again.
So, during summer, Mika trained herself. She learned how to sense the magic before it hit her. She used her room as a secret sanctuary and, behind the back of her muggle dad and new stepmother, she learned how to recognize the magic glowing through her veins and learned how to avoid it.
Since she couldn't practice magic freely outside the castle, Mikaela used her cat. Neko became her loyal friend. She trained him to help her. She would put a black blindfold over her eyes and predict where the cat was moving. She knew how he was sitting, when he would jump and where he could land. After days of practice, she could predict if he would jump over her head or behind her back. After all, she's a prodigy. Learning fast was her skill.
So, after that summer, when she went back to Hogwarts, she was almost an expert. She began using empty classrooms to practice with the magic. She got into duels just to test herself. Until she made it.
In just a matter of weeks with the magic, Mikaela Hendricks could predict almost exactly where a spell would hit. When and how to move to avoid it. She became untouchable. Maybe she wouldn't be a Ravenclaw duellist today, nor tomorrow. Maybe she'd stay on the waitlist until she graduated. But one thing was for sure: Nothing could escape Mikaela's senses. Nothing could outplan her. No stupid spell could make her legs dance against her will.
And what if a spell hit her once or twice? She learned from it. She calculated her next move. She evolved. She was better.

Many, many centuries ago, a lone wizard by the name of Edmund was known in southern England for two things: his healing abilities, and his rose garden.
Every member of the House of Rose knows the myth of their founder. It’s that story that inspired the Roses to produce many herbologists and healers. It’s what they became known for in England when the family first manifested. It’s in their name. They live to grow plants. They live to grow roses, and Roses.
It’s the story that Rowan Rose tells his only daughter a year before she leaves for Hogwarts.
Rowan holds Sia’s hand as they saunter through the seemingly endless rose garden of Rosemere Hall. He watches his daughter carelessly caressing the rose petals with her free hand.
“Princess.” He calls her. “Do you know why you can touch the roses without fearing their thorns?”
Little Sia’s eyes sparkle, already pleased with herself for knowing the correct response.
“Because we have Dittany to cure cuts.”
“Very good. And, what plant do I use in that potion that calms your mother?”
“Hmm. Hellebore?”
“Right again. One more. What plant saved your father from staying petrified?”
“Mandrakes!”
Sia cries it out to the sky, as if she wanted the aforementioned plant to hear her. To hear her gratitude for saving her father. Just thinking of the tale of what occurred three years ago leaves a bad taste on her tongue. She turns to embrace her father.
The man chuckles, patting the top of Sia’s head. “Hey, it’s alright now. No more Auror adventures for me, I can tell you that.”
Rowan kneels down before Sia, like a king before a princess.
“I’m a herbologist now. You know why I chose that? So I could help heal people. Now, I’m no healer; that’s for wizards smarter than me. But I do my part in healing by growing the plants. By caring for them and seeing them grow. Like our family grows our roses from seeds. You could be a herbologist yourself one day, Artie. You’re already pretty well versed in the subject, if I do say so myself.”
He leaves a soft peck on her forehead, and then he stands to continue walking. Sia watches him do so. It takes her a moment to follow. A herbologist. Herbology. It ran in her family. And it had saved her dad. It seemed like a truly wonderful thing.
She made herself a promise.
She’d study all her family had to study about herbology. She’d prove herself worthy as a Rose. She’d be outstanding in the subject.
