Would You Like To Read It? PV Noah Page

Noah was in a fairly good mood. It was one of the few days that he didn't have a lot of homework and it was one of his favourite things when he had free time so he could finally... do nothing. Regardless, it felt good to not have any task he had to finish left.

He had spent most of the day on his homework. It was a free day so he wanted to make sure he could cover everything off and then maybe he could have some time left for extra studies. By the time he was almost finished, another girl walked into the room. Noah didn't pay much attention to her, he focused on his work. Although as the time went by he noticed how she would occasionally giggle and it was starting to tick him off, not much but slowly and steadily, it was starting to bother him.

Finally, he finished it all put his homework materials back into his satchel, leaving only a textbook on his desk which he wanted to read just to revise everything. As he opened the textbook, the girl let out another giggle and his eyes momentarily flicked towards her with a slight hint of annoyance in his eyes and his brows slightly furrowed. He realised that would be rude and quickly looked back down at his book and started searching for the topic he had planned on studying for the day.

Although always immersed in doing her own things, Lindsey’s really sensitive when others looked at her or talked about her in a low voice.

As a result, while she was “adventuring”, she suddenly felt that an eye glanced at her. Who is it? She quickly came out from Narnia, that was, raised up her head.
The Slytherin.
She soon found out.
Despite the boy was concentrated on his work now, Lindsey knew it was him. She’s really sensitive——we’ve mentioned that before, and it nearly became her weakness.
Hmm…why? She thought.
Maybe he really liked my book.
Lindsey soon made up a “silly” reason.

Come on, it could be possible. This Slytherin looked like a wizardborn——or he’d not be that familiar with his homework.
In Lindsey’s opinion, every wizard from a magical family must be interested in muggle stories. Their imagination was fabulous and they were far more better than wizard ones.
I must recommend this book to him. Lindsey thought. I think more students should read it——maybe even discuss it?
She made up her mind.
Although, she was timid when talking to strangers first.

“Um, hello…” Poor girl, she could not explain her idea any further.
She decided to make things clear first.
“Would you like to read it?” Lindsey said rather awkwardly, handing out her book.

Lindsey’s pleased when seeing the Slytherin shrugged his shoulder, put his textbook away, and turned to her.
I’d say no one could resist such an amazing book! She smiled secretly.
“What book is that exactly?” The boy asked.
“The Chronicles of Narnia. It’s a book series and this is the second volume. I have the whole series in my dorm though.” she said. “You haven’t read it, have you?” She asked back.
He certainly hadn’t.

Lindsey was really confident now, when talking about one of her favorite books. She wouldn’t be that enthusiastic if they were chatting Quidditch or something——instead, she preferred to wait until the other spoke first.
“It’s about four children getting into a magical world called Narnia. They fought, well, an evil witch and finally became kings and queens. You may think the story a little naive but firstly, it’s really interesting and secondly, there’s sort of philosophy in it…” she explained passionately.
Lindsey stopped at last, cause she had already lost her breathe, and could not say anything anymore.
“You like it?” she asked with a little nervousness.

Lindsey’s not sure if her explanation sounded interesting. She’s not that good at explaining things. And, a story’s only charming when you actually read it.

She really hoped this Slytherin is interested in it after listened her explanation quietly.
But…

The Chronicles of Narnia... Yeah, he had no idea what that was. He shook his head when she asked, was the book just that obscure? But she said it had multiple volumes, it couldn't be that unpopular if they published that many...

He listened to her description of it carefully. It was rather short but she said it really quickly in a single breath and Noah was momentarily shocked as he tried to soak in what she had just said... Some children fighting a witch to become king and queen... Wait. Magical world?

His eyes widened as realisation struck him, of course, "It's a muggle book!" He exclaimed, soon after feeling a bit ashamed of having said it like that. But that did make sense, he never had read muggle books and his parents didn't have any back at their family library either.

He looked into the distance, talking more to himself than the girl sitting in front of him, "Well, it definitely is interesting. Fighting a witch to become king and queen... so maybe the main cast didn't have magic themselves? Muggles imagine magic despite not knowing of its existence...?" That last part particularly interested him. So they couldn't see magic, nor had any trace of it besides the few times in history the wizarding community made mistakes, but it still was fascinating to him that muggles made books of fiction based on magic...

He’s definitely a wizardborn, I’d say.

“Yeah they’re not, just normal muggle children. And, well, I think muggles’ imagination are all extremely fantastic, for example in this Narnia world animals could talk——but only the villain was a witch, she controlled snow and ice though…The true owner and founder of Narnia was a great magical lion.” She said.
“Muggles’ imagination run wild…I’ve read some books that children’s parent are Greek gods or goddesses——and some comics that people are superheroes, they regarded magic a super-strength too.” She laughed. “So, I think I could be a superhero in muggle’s world then!”

Lindsey didn’t discover that she had said lots of words. She could only be bubbly when she knew the person in front really well.
However, she didn’t even know the boy’s name.
Maybe Lindsey’s really confident when talking about things she loved.
Maybe.

“I guess that’s why we got muggle studies class when we turned 3rd years! It’s actually difficult to learn what and how muggles think, and their inventions. I think I’ll choose it then…I really want to know more!” Lindsey stopped, in order to wait for the boy’s reply.

The boy agreed on her point on muggle studies. Lindsey was glad, cause she didn’t think that a Slytherin would approve on these sort of things. She might be wrong, though, as she now found.
“What do you mean by you want to know more anyway? Are you not muggleborn or halfblood?” The boy suddenly asked.
“Um, yeah…pure blood, actually, but interested in muggle things.” She shrugged her shoulders. “In fact, all my family are interested in them, my two cousins are even named after characters in muggle novels——so, you know.” Lindsey smiled.
Interested in muggle things…you could say that. But maybe mostly loved books and music? Except these great authors, muggle musicians were also fantastic. They don’t play music like A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love. Well, Lindsey’s not really a fan of these sort of song. She prefer some more classical ones, some more peaceful or “normal” tunes. That’s her preference.
Lindsey suddenly realized she even didn’t know the name of her companion. It’s rude, as her parents had taught her.
“Sorry, what’s your name please by the way?” She questioned, giving the boy her hand. “I’m Lindsey, Hufflepuff first year——um, really sorry for using your time…” she murmured.

Noah had obviously paid attention to the entire talk that the girl had given so far but his head got stuck on naming people after characters from stories. He didn't care much about the muggle part, he just couldn't understand why anyone would name their kids after anyone else, especially a fictional person. He had been a bookworm up to some level himself but the thought had never occurred to him and it just a bit ridiculous to think of.

He sort of zoned out thinking about it and was bought back when she asked him for his name, he had forgotten about that, it wasn't every day that he ended up talking to people, after all. He grabbed her hand and shook it, "My name is Noah Page," he said with a slight head bow, "Slytherin, second year."

He pulled his hand back and wondered what he was supposed to say after that, the number of times he had just normally introduced himself like that without anything else to follow it with were rare... He only ever had talked to people when he needed to...

"That's alright, I'm done studying and I did not have much else to be doing anyway, learning something new is a much more productive than going over the same things again and again." He said, wondering if it even was that much of a coverup. He genuinely did enjoy discussing things he didn't have much knowledge on, now that he thought about it, getting her perspective on muggles actually had him genuinely interested and that was rare for Noah when it came to other people and him, he barely ever cared about what others said or did.
