What Harm Could it Do?
Backdated to: November 21, 2019
Callie clutched her back close to her chest as she entered the library. She couldn't le anybody see, not get detention again. She sighed as she walked over to the tables. She brushed off the dust with her robe sleeve, sneezing. "Ugh. Dusty," she rubbed her nose.
She looked around. Nobody seemed to be paying attention, all focused on their own business. Ravenclaws studying, Hufflepuffs chatting. She grinned. Perfect. She emptied out her bag. Out plopped a bag of jelly slugs, a packet of salt and some glue and tape. It was a genius plan. Her cousin Damien, a 2nd year fellow Slytherin, loved candy. He was excited to go to Hogsmeade, but couldn't wait. Callie agreed to give him some candy, but of course, it was rigged. She was still shocked he trusted her. Not after last summer when she put snakes in his bed pillow. She snickered at the thought.
She got to work with her creation. She tore open the bag of candy, which she might have bought secretly from a 4th year source. She looked into the bag. The bag was colorful, and smelled really good. She grinned, and popped one candy into her mouth. She hoped he wouldn't notice one candy was missing. She bit her lip excitedly, ready to cause some mischief.

What Harm Could it Do?
AJ smiled when she walked through the doors into the library. She took a deep breath, and let the familiar, comforting scent of musty books fill her lungs. She had a thought that she kept to herself, but truly believed. Every book smelled different, like its story. That meant that if you paid attention you could tell which area of the library you were in without even looking. Fantasy adventure stories smelled of damp caves and a sprinkling of magic. Science fiction was like purified air and welded metal, much like the inside of a spaceship may smell. Nonfiction smelled like various levels of dust and often made her sneeze. The older the subject, the more she sneezed.Interacting with @Calypso Aretez
As tempted as she was to pull out a fiction book and read a fantastical story, she knew that she needed to focus on her homework for History of Magic. Though she loved reading, she often found the writing of the books to be very dry and unable to hold her attention. She would not be able to pass the class by just skimming the books. No, alas, she must actually read them and take notes.
She walked around the library until she found a quiet area out of the main part of the room. Nearby, a table of students was studying silently. Just past them AJ could see a table with one single person at it. Most students did not seem to mind her presence, because she was always very quiet and polite, so she approached the girl from behind.
"Excuse me, mind if I share a table?"

What Harm Could it Do?
The voice almost gave Callie a heart attack.
"AH!" the chair tilted backwards, but she quickly caught herself. She sighed, thankful for her tallness. She turned to the girl, then down to the bag of candy in her hands. "Uhhh, heh heh," she shoved the candy quickly behind her back. "Can you sit here? Er.." she thought for a second she would really like some privacy, and plus she didn't want to be caught. Not get detention again. But she didn't want to come off as mean, or rude. She didn't want to be the mean kid who sat alone at dinner. She needed resources if she wanted to survive here for 7 years. Plus she wanted a friend. Maybe this could be an opportunity.
"Suuure..?" she smiled awkwardly. Although she was sure it looked more like the face she made when she ate a piece of broccoli, which she hated. "I mean, uh, sure. You can definitely sit here," she rubbed her mouth, trying to get rid of her disgusted face.
How would she pull of this prank now? She told Damien to meet her in the courtyard after dinner. Most kids studied until dinner, and even if the girl left, she would never have enough time. She bit her lip. She could've just said the seat was taken. But what if the girl sat nearby and saw that nobody ever came. She blinked hard trying to think of ideas.
This is why you aren't in Ravenclaw, she thought.Interacting with: @AnnieJade Halstead

AJ took a quick step, almost as surprised by the student's sudden outburst as the other student had been by AJ herself. The girl standing there was taller than AJ, and wore Slytherin robes. She hesitated i response to AJ's question.OOC: Sorry! Life happened this week and things got rather busy. Here you go![]()
"If you would prefer to study alone, it's not a problem," AJ offered in an attempt to dispel the quickly escalating awkwardness.
The Slytherin girl ultimately gave her approval for AJ to join her at the table. Her conflicting expression did not go unnoticed. AJ was growing used to the strange way others around the school seemed to act. It felt to her like everyone was either hiding things or too arrogant for her to care what they were like. Then there were the other first years who just seemed far too... mature for their age ,and she was far too intimidated to approach them. Still, though, she had met a couple of others who had ended up being nice and become kind of friends in the moment. If she thought about it, she would find herself wondering if the others even counted as friends, given that nearly each person she had only ever interacted with once. Would that make them just an acquaintance? It was too confusing for her to spend much time pondering.
"Thanks. M-my name is AnnieJade, by the way. You can just call me AJ." She shifted her books into her left arm and offered her right hand.

"No, no. You can sit, it's fine," she stuffed the bag into her book bag. "I'm Callie. Nice to meet you," she offered a hand. She wouldn't have time, so she'd just have to work on it another time. But her cousin was expecting candy at dinner. She bit her lip. She'd have to think quickly.
"Hey, er, you're in Ravenclaw, right?" she smiled. It was a stupid idea, and she was probably going to get into detention, but she had to try. "So you're the creative type, I assume. I know we just met, but I could use your help on something." She thought for a second. She needed a way for the situation to not seem suspicious. The girl didn't seem like the vengeful type, so explaining her and her cousin's age long prank war didn't seem like the best idea. Then, she remembered.
This was Hogwarts, they did all sorts of crazy things in class. She could totally pass sprinkling salt on a bunch of jelly slugs as a school project. However, it wasn't the most believable school project, and she doubted the girl would believe it, but she decided to go ahead and try. "You see, I got this school project for er, Defense Against the Dark Arts...? Yeah! I got this project for Defense Against the Dark Arts. The dorm is way to loud, and it would be crushed in less than a second. So you mind if I work on it here?"Interacting with: @AnnieJade Halstead

AJ smiled as Callie introduced herself. Once they shook hands, she placed her books on the table across from the other girl. As she walked, Callie explained that she needed to work on a project for Defense Against the Dark Arts. Worry began to fill AJ's head that she had forgotten to do the same project, since each year had virtually the same schedule.Interacting with @Calypso Aretez
"I don't mind at all, I know how that is. The Ravenclaw common room is usually pretty busy, too. That's why I prefer to study here. What is your project about?" She figured that if she asked for some details it could refresh her memory on the assignment she must have forgotten to write down.
As AJ took a seat, she opened her notebook and tried to seem casual, while internally panicking and trying to find any reference to a project for class. So far her homework just appeared to be essays and practice for her courses. What could the project possibly be? Had she nodded off in Defense Against the Dark Arts? It was not like her at all, but not outside of the realm of possibility. Her studies did keep her up rather late most nights, after all.
