Kenneth grew up surrounded by horses, so it's not surprising that his first instance of magic was linked to them. It was January 7, 2019, and wee Kenneth had celebrated his fifth birthday the day before. While walking with his mother, the boy passed by the stall where his father was grooming one of the horses. The animal suddenly became agitated and reared up, as if seized by a panic attack. His father covered his face, helpless, fearing a kick. Kenneth was terrified! As he watched the scene unfold, all of a sudden, with a single glance, he opened the stall door and his father flew through the air before landing heavily outside the stable. Fergus quickly closed the door... but Kenneth's parents never looked at him the same way again from that day on.

Kenneth Drummond comes from a very old family, farriers from father to son. Both his parents are muggles. His father, Fergus Drummond, 36, is a farrier. His mother, Rhona Drummond, 38, is a music teacher at a primary school in Perth. Kenneth is the eldest of four children: his sisters Erin and Moira are 8, and Mungo, the youngest, is 4. The family lives in a cottage on the outskirts of Perth. Kenneth thus grew up in a very rural environment, accustomed to the wild atmosphere of the Scottish countryside, but also received a rather noble upbringing thanks to the old feudal traditions to which his father is particularly attached. They also have a cat, William, and a beagle, Alba, who is very fond of Kenneth.
From a very early age, he was passionate about nature. He disliked studying, was something of a solitary dreamer, and exasperated his parents because he could not sit still. When the twins were born, his parents quarreled violently; Rhona, who was pregnant, took him with her to Ireland to stay with her best friend, Calum. There, he met Calum's son, Sean, who would become his own best friend. Kenneth was deeply affected by his eight-month stay in Ireland—eight months during which he neither saw his father nor attended school. Despite his parents' reconciliation, he remained deeply wary of his father, whom he held responsible for the trouble.
On his eleventh birthday, when Kenneth receives his letter from Hogwarts, he is immensely relieved; his parents had been planning to send him to a boarding school—St. Clare's, in the south of England—where many children from Perth go.

Rhona Claymoore was born on January 2, 1976, in Marseille, France. She grew up in the Roucas-Blanc neighborhood, the city's most prestigious area. The family villa, *Les Mouettes* ("The Seagulls"), commanded a panoramic view of the Mediterranean. The household staff included two cooks, three maids, a butler, a housekeeper, a tutor, and a piano teacher who visited three times a week. Rhona and her two older brothers, Charles and Louis, were educated at home. They rarely left the neighborhood; her father, a renowned archaeologist, spent his days shut away in his study when he wasn't traveling. Her mother, the head of a publishing house, was also extremely busy.

Fergus was born on May 12, 1978, in Perth, Scotland. His family has been a line of farriers for generations, and he grew up surrounded by horses. His father, Ronald, is a strong, strict, and authoritarian man. His mother, Marnie, is in frail health and spends her days confined to her room, painting. Nevertheless, the family is happy. Fergus is the youngest child, with three sisters who are much older than him (by ten, nine, and seven years). When he is 15, his mother falls seriously ill and is sent to a sanatorium in Switzerland. Fergus, who does not excel at school, decides to attend military school; he later returns to Perth to take over the family business.

Kenneth’s parents met at a young age: he was 19 and she was 21. During her studies in Scotland, Rhona was known for her quick wit. A student named Theodore Ashbridge, who was interested in her, invited her—along with other students—to a polo tournament at his holiday home in Perth one summer.

He hired Fergus, among others, to look after the horses, and that was where Rhona and Fergus met. They continued to write to each other long after that summer ended, but eventually drifted apart. Disappointed at no longer receiving letters, Rhona assumed Fergus had forgotten her and began dating Theodore.
At 24, she obtained her teaching qualification and married Theodore the following year. However, Theodore was very traditional, and their marriage turned sour; they separated after just three years. Rhona remained single for four years. One day, she traveled to Perth for a seminar and, by sheer coincidence, ran into Fergus again. They began seeing each other. She learned that Fergus’s last letter had never arrived and that he had stopped writing because he received no reply. They started dating, and three years later—at the ages of 35 and 33—they married. They traveled extensively, living for a year in Romania and a year in Greece, before deciding to settle permanently in Perth upon Kenneth’s birth.

Erin, born on June 21, 2017, is the more imaginative of the twins. Outwardly quite calm, she likes to retreat into her own thoughts and is always dreaming up wonderful stories. She is sweet as an angel and has the manners of a princess.	Her twin sister Moïra has a rather opposite personality: always restless, she loves animals and can sometimes be extremely impatient. Her mother started her in boxing when she was just six years old to help her burn off energy, and she later took up track and field as well. Moïra is constantly on the move and can sometimes be a bit exhausting, but she is also very protective, especially of her sister.	Mungo, the youngest, was born on April 1, 2021. His siblings love teasing him about his birthday, because Mungo is a walking joke. He is always up to some kind of mischief and, ever since he learned to speak, has possessed a rather sharp and witty sense of humor—perhaps a bit too sharp at times.
