The thankfulness that flooded Katrina's mind was enough that it actually showed on her face. She tended to keep a pretty calm demeanor, as being an expert with reading body language allowed her to master facial expressions too. However, her eyes seemed to light up and a crooked smile found itself tugging at her lips. He was probably one of the first pure-bloods she had met that was really cool about it all, that being said, the conversation didn't come up too much, but it was refreshing to see him so excited about her world.

The grin widened with his description of a skateboard, "I was always bad at anything with wheels so there wasn't much skateboarding I partook in. But my younger brother, used to skateboard all the time, he was pretty great at it." It was only after Katrina had said that that she realized she had used her brother in the past tense, hopefully Adonis would translate that as before Hogwarts instead of before her brother's death. Her tragic past hadn't been bothering her lately (besides her explosion yesterday) so the second-year was able to be calm about it.

Katrina bit her lip at the idea of being a healer. Despite how often she was helping other people, the thought had never truly crossed her mind, "I don't really know. Ever since I learned about dragons I have wanted to work with them. I was thinking more Magizoologist career. Animals have always been a fascination of mine, especially the dragons," Katrina had an expression of eagerness, "I can't wait to choose classes, I think that's next year? But, I want to do Care of Magical Creatures,"

The auburn haired girl nodded at his comment about studying, practically her entire first year she had met only three people. "I've been pretty busy of late. I go to Spells Wands and Games Club games. I went to the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin game a few weeks back. I'm usually at all of the Professors errand, I've been trying to collect all the chocolate frogs. But most of the time I'm studying here, my common room, or outside, there's a few trees that have perfect spots to sit in to be undisturbed,"

Katrina began to notice that she was opening up, stringing several sentences together at a time. There were only a few people that she could actually do that with. Maybe she was just opening up as a whole. With all of that writing she had done yesterday, perhaps it had actually payed off?

It made Adonis' face light up with joy upon seeing her smile at the reaction of him being accepting of her blood status despite the usual distaste between muggles and pure-bloods. Adonis was different from the rest of most pure-blood fanatics. He was accepting of muggles, just like he was of everyone in general and always being the type to include others. Deep down though he always wondered what it would be like if his dad were to have never strayed away from the Thorn's traditional way of living. Adonis certainly would've been the heir to the Thorn family after his father, since his grandfather was the current head of House Thorn and it made him think about the possibilities his life would have if he lived with them. Certainly his family couldn't be that bad, right? Yes, they were dark wizards and witches but there had to be some speck of light or humanity in them. Perhaps that would be for a journey sometime during the summer in exploring that side of the family.

"Oh your brother used to skateboard? That's wicked. I need to try out some more muggle related things during the summer once we're out of here." Adonis said, grinning at the thought of it. He only thought about before Hogwarts but either way, he wasn't going to press on with that and just focused on continuing the conversation for now.

Adonis raised a brow while waiting for her to answer it, noticing that she seemed to be biting her lip while thinking of it. Personally, Adonis would never have gone for being a healer in a million years so it was understandable. It seemed boring to him. That was just Adonis though. "Dragons, eh? They're pretty cool. Massive creatures they are for sure. It's crazy! A career in magizoology could be fun though, constantly on the move perhaps and studying different magical creatures. Depending on what exact path you go down for magizoology, of course. I've no idea what classes I'll choose when I'm able to but COMC seems like it could be fun and interesting."

A little excitement came to him when she mentioned the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin match. Quidditch. Oh, how he loved it and wished he could play it. "Sounds like loads of fun to me. I wanted to join S.W.A.G. since I heard it's like the closest thing to Duelling Club as of right now. Did you enjoy the Quidditch match though? I love it!" Adonis fished his Montrose Magpies badge out of one of his pockets to show her. He had bought it at Quality Quidditch Supplies a while back. "Hopefully I can join the Quidditch team next year. I missed tryouts earlier this year and I've been itching to play ever since, mainly cause it's the thought of knowing we have Quiddich teams here with the opportunity to play. It gets me all excited." He placed his badge back into his pocket after showing her and let out a sigh before smiling again. "Outside, eh? You should try the Great Lake sometime. It's pretty nice to just relax at and stare across the lake and at the ranges of forestry and whatnot. Real nice. In my opinion at least." Adonis shrugged with a slight smile.

Katrina smiled at his mention of trying out skateboarding this summer. Yet, inside, she was struggling with the realization that she was going to be stuck at the school. There was no chance that she would be able to escape to the Leaky Cauldron let alone pay for it like she had done last winter break. The walls of the castle were only so big and she was sure she had seen and scrutinized every brick on every wall by now. Thankfully, Adonis was able to shift the topic away.

Now that he was talking about dragons and animals, Katrina seemed right at home. She couldn't help the side smile that worked its way onto her face. Honestly, she couldn't imagine not working with animals. But there was still the fact that she also enjoyed Healing and was pretty good at it too. She would have plenty of time this summer to debate it, so instead she just enjoyed the prospect of the animals.

Katrina silently noted his change of demeanor when she mentioned the Quidditch match. He did seem like he had the love of adrenaline to fly around on an almost toothpick hundreds of feet in the air. Katrina couldn't stand heights, not that she would ever admit that to herself. "The game was pretty cool. But I have to admit that I had absolutely no clue what was going on. I was honestly just surprised that I knew so many people from both teams," Katrina couldn't help the sheepish laugh that followed the confession.

Adonis drew out a pin and Katrina took a look at it. He seemed to have a genuine joy for the game, "I'm sure you would be great on a broom. I really hope you make it on the team," Just because she had no interest in flying didn't mean that she couldn't be happy for someone who had a love of it. She would probably go to more of that games if someone would simply invite her.

"Yeah, I plan on spending more time outside, being cooped up in the castle has its downfalls after all. I've been a couple times to the lake, but I think it's high time I say hello to the critters down below," It was kind of nice just to chat about whatever came to mind. Katrina honestly couldn't remember the last time she had the opportunity to do so.
@Adonis Thorn Sorry for the late reply!
