This event is part of the Castelobruxo International Capture the Flag event
26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA
After breakfast on the twenty-sixth of June, excited Castelobruxo students and their visitors gathered by the Jungle arena. The guests displayed a varied compote of nerves: some were excited, some would boast about their prospects of winning, while others, who had heard about the potentially dangerous terrain, would wish that they had never signed up. Nevertheless, it was too late to back out now, as Headmaster Santiago paved the way through green overgrowth that got progressively thicker the further they ventured from the school grounds, for the first teams to claim their bases and hide their flags. Since South America was experiencing its calendar winter, their guests would find the outside temperature pleasant. Meanwhile, the Castelobruxo students and islanders were used to considerably warmer weather.

Reaching the thickest part of the rainforest you could get without taking a trip to the nearby jungle village, they came to a halt. Santiago lifted his head and squinted towards the overhead canopy. The sky was clear. For now. The people accustomed to living in these conditions knew that the rainforest had a tendency to be unpredictable. Rain might begin to fall without warning, but for now, they seemed to have a dry game day ahead of them. After taking a glance around the groups, he thought it was for the best; it would have been a shame to scare them away before the games had begun.

The teams had been named after different Amazonian animals, which the groups were more or less satisfied with. Predictably, Santiago didn't care if they were satisfied about their assigned animal or not.

Before he sent the teams off in the opposite directions, he clarified some of the rules, hands resting on his hips in a casual stance. “This is it, Toucans and Macaws." Glancing over the first to third years, he couldn't help but smirk. "Once you’re in there, you’re on your own. If you see something that looks dangerous, my advice is to not stick around long enough to find out. Me and the judges will keep eyes on the bases.”

“What about fouls?” A student asked, to which Santi only shrugged with an indifferent expression.

“That’s up to the rainforests’ discretion.” A twinkle of mischief briefly broke through his otherwise stoic expression as he added, “Remember, there are eyes everywhere.” Not just human eyes.

Uncertain glances were shared by some of the students, causing the more experienced players to chuckle lightly. Even the Headmaster’s lips tugged into an amused smirk, having seen this happen many times before; each instance was just as interesting as the last. It never got old.

“Well, what are we waiting for? To base!” He clapped his hands, sending them off.

HOW TO PLAY

The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Toucan will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Scarlet Macaw will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.

During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.

Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.

At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.

If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.

Rules regarding roll resolution, action priority, and other game mechanics can be found HERE.

At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to @Santiago Peralta before the posting deadline.

A game such as Capture the Flag was not exactly what most people considered a usual activity in which Livia might partake. Ignoring the risks that came with interfacing with other students, such as bodily harm, therein also lay the fact that the game was occurring in a rainforest. If one had observed Livia at Hogwarts – often clad in long coats and skirts or trousers, sporting boots of a Victorian style – they might think she was not fit to endure such heat and humidity.

However equatorial the weather, Livia knew quite well that she would enjoy, at the very least, the great outdoors. Having spent summers in the sweltering heat of Imereti, she relished the warmth of the sun and the comfort of humidity against her skin. Though she valued her homely England, she much preferred the summers of Georgia, and the weather here was not unlike it there.

The greater reason for her attendance at the Castelobruxo event, though, was that Evpraksiya had decided to go. Livia was functional enough to endure a few days of school, sans her cherubic, exalted cousin. However, simply being able to do something did not always mean that one should. Livia did not outwardly reveal her mirth as she packed her belongings, but that did not mean it did not thrum within her veins, a welcome accompaniment to the blood beating in her veins.

Yet here she was. The spindly Slytherin stood tall, a desaturated coral shirt tucked into long, beige canvas trousers, which covered her usual boots. One could not go wrong with boots. Her hair, as always, was tied into its usual chignon; however, a beige driver cap covered her head. A small pair of sunglasses shielded her green eyes from the sun's rays. While glamorous, the outfit was quite practical, and the trousers had been altered to have the largest pockets one could imagine.

She did not know how this game would go. However, it was like any other game. There were rules to be followed and twisted to create some facet of victory. That, at least, would be Livia's specialty.

She did her best to stay near Evpraksiya before the game's official beginning. She did not truly know any of the other individuals on the team, although she would recognise Charlotte's name from her short stint at Slytherin Quidditch.

Though she listened to the directions given by the headmaster, her thoughts were scattered. Perhaps the more important thing was that Livia had neglected to employ the use of sunblock this morning...

When the opportunity presented itself, Jamie had, of course, gone on the trip to Castelobruxo. The reasoning was similar to his yearly appearances at other institutions—establishing "connections." Or at least making it seem like he was, considering his asocial nature often worked against him. But his family could know none of his difficulties; they just needed to hear of his attendance. See that he was trying. Believe he was doing what was expected of him.

... A tiring endeavor, but one he'd always undergo.

At the very least, the South American school reminded him of his own. After all, the surrounding greenery was as vast as it was dense, paired with a respite from the heat courtesy of wintertime. He nearly felt like he was at a home away from home.

It made getting assimilated fairly simple, so he was at ease when he and some others were escorted to the jungle arena for... "Capture the Flag." Jamie guessed it was a wizarding sport specific to the region, or something along those lines, and joined as a way of forcing himself to mingle.

Once the debriefing ended, the boy approached his team with pleasantries on his tongue. He faltered the minute he noticed who he'd be working with.

Through a sea of unfamiliarity stood a soul he recognized, their chance meetings constantly leaving an impression he couldn't shake. Jamie stared at Meiyu for a second, for two, for three, before he gathered himself. There was no reason to treat her different, despite memories full of anger and confusion and abashment alike. They could be normal. He could be like his—

He walked and forced himself to ignore the heat crawling up his neck. Once he was next to her, he cleared the invisible lump in his throat.

"It's nice to see you, Meiyu. You look well." The words came out a bit stiff, as if rehearsed. Regardless, Jamie pushed a warm smile onto his face. "I'm excited to learn how we work together."

He let the words hang there—short and safe. But he'd linger at her side for the rest of their trek to the zone as well, finding anything else to be... wrong. Incorrect, even if he had every right to go back to his own devices.

Another year, another international event at an international school. This time, Castelobruxo. Avery was eager to visit yet another one of the schools. It was shocking honestly how many she had visited in the past nearly two years of her time at Hogwarts. She couldn’t wait to see what was to come.

That day marked the day of capture the flag. An exciting event where she would be competing against her fellow peers. It was invigorating to think of a high risk game full of adrenaline alongside her closest friends and a couple new friends.

Avery knew her tent mates were joining her. She blushed for a moment. That meant her boyfriend, Mikey, would be competing alongside her again. She couldn’t wait to hopefully spend some more time with him. If they got time away from the violence. It seemed every time they got together for a hangout something bad happened.

Avery shook that feeling away. She had to focus on what was ahead of her. She had to help lead her team to victory. That was what mattered.

Avery let out a sigh as she watched people gather around and prepare for what was ahead. She nodded to the competitors from the other team before turning her attention to wait for her fellow mates.

Samuel J. 'Fire' Davies . First Year . Hufflepuff ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

SNAP ! POP ! Fire's shoulders cracked as he stretched them above his head, groaning like an old man with brittle bones, before falling into a side lounge, one of his maroon eyes peering up to take in the filtering sunlight through the canopy of harsh vines and thick evergreen leaves. The thick smell of wet wood, thick mud, and spores stinging his nostrils, he stood up bringing his arms before him, clasping his hands together and pushing his palms forward, doing a mid-back stretch. It wasn't a bad base set-up, the boy thought to himself before turning his head to look at his team.

He had signed up for capture the flag a few weeks ago, now here he was standing in middle of a jungle terrain half-way across the world. It was quite surreal, Fire was never one to back down from a challenge, especially a competition where he could show-off, kick a few butts! Maybe even make a couple bets if he could, but the other reason wasn't as ego feeding, as being able to travel and see new things was never a bad thing in his eyes. No matter how intimidating he may seem.

The boy was actually surprised to see a good amount of people he knew, may be it really had been a small world, considering he saw students from his own school when it was a Hodge podge stir with sprinkles of people all around the globe. First was @Meiyu Xiang, they hadn't run into each other for a while her hair was now a dark raven black. He knew her from his short-lived time as prefect, having hosted a Halloween birthday mix with her. Plus, it helped to be friend's with her kid brother, she was cool, but somethin' was off with that one. He would've said hi, but she she pre-occupied with some big nose guy.

He turned then to see a face he didn't think he'd see again at all, @Hana Bakir, he couldn't quite remember that vampire kid's name, it was hard NOT to recognize her, she was definitely extremely unique in a haunting elegant way. They had met some time ago on the Hogwart's express, and interesting interaction in the very least.

Everyone he didn't recognize quite as much, until... WHY THE HELL IS HE HERE?! Fire's expression immediately soured, his shoulders dropping and his eyebrow's knitting together. He sighed to himself, out of EVERYONE in the school of course the one kid he couldn't stand was here. @Aodhan Shaw. It was a one-sided enemy, fremeni, friendee-nename, frienmenanai, frien- WHAT EVER one-sided enemy/friend relationship. Today must have been full of surprises, because Fire decided to be hopeful, maybe the demon-child hit puberty or something. Maybe his voice wouldn't be like chicken scratch?

Fire walked over to the vampire kid (still can't remember her name) and Annoy-han. Well time to lock-in-

"Hey Punks," Fire then sucked in his cheeks, quirking an eyebrow up as he approached. Before standing awkwardly for a moment scratching his neck, then shrugging. "Didn't think this far, hmm.... I guess, wanna place some bets?"

XXXXX𝘈n opportunity had presented itself upon Meiyu's arrival to Castelobruxo to serve as an announcer for other matches — only thing is, she had to participate in a match of her own first. Following a delicious breakfast which included whisking away her usual yoghurt fruit combination and sneaking off in a secluded area, admiring the views, Meiyu soon made her way towards the jungle area where the match would be held. She had been aware that her beloved Evpraksiya would be in her team, assuring any anxieties that had risen in the short periods where she had not fixated on diminishing her opponents. A young unregistered girl had loitered near Evpraksiya as they all loitered in their zone, Meiyu's eyes instinctively rolling behind the sunglasses she supported to shield her eyes from burning sun.

Her wand remained nested in the hem of the shorts she had packed with her, a homage to her aunt whom she had stolen the clothing from — far too bright and floral to be from Meiyu's own collection but would suffice amidst the heat of South America. With her arms folded and expression blank, Meiyu's eyes wandered behind the sunglasses which framed her features, giving her a much more youthful look even at the age of thirteen.

Until, a familiar, foreign voice interrupted her.

Head turning too quickly to meet the boy with a protruding nose, whom she wasted her first kiss on, Meiyu couldn't help but scowl at the sight of him. It had been months since they had seen each other last or even shared correspondence, a sign she had taken that he was done with her, though, she never paid it much thought until such thoughts creeped up on her during the nights she could not succumb to a much desired slumber. Her year had been spent fixated on healing, minus the momentarily relapse during the winter — to be expected of her condition.

Instead, she did what he did best — mimicking his pleasantries. Her lips pursing into a tight smile, a light nod tossed his way as she returned greetings out of something she could only describe as her being genuine for once. "Nice to see you again, Jamie," her breath hitched at the mention of his name, something she wanted to forget but also wanted to call out over and over again. "You don't need to be so formal, we have a game to win." Meiyu boldly added, returning her gaze back to the trees along the terrain, concealing whatever were to come their way.

All was interrupted by a loud aggravating voice, one she had recognised too well as Jiamu's hooligan friend, Fire Davies. What had been worse was in the corner of Meiyu's vision, she saw Aodhan begin to emerge from the pits of hell, somehow escaping Scotland for the summer and terrorising her even on this trip.

"Fuck my life." She sighed, a deep exhale parting her lips as she her mind began to mentally prepare for dealing with the terrible twos.

After all the chaos that had happened during the end of the term, it felt good to just get away from it all. Olivia didn’t know how she had convinced herself to go to Castelobruxo, it was the first time she had been abroad since moving to London. The climate here was very different from home.

After the headmaster's rather mysterious and cryptic speech, team Scarlet Macaw gathered in zone 4. Olivia couldn't describe how relieved she was when she saw some of her teammates. Mikey was there with Avery, Bree and another guy who she thought she remembered being in Hufflepuff in the same year as her.

"Hi," Olivia said and waved cautiously. "For those of you who don't know, my name is Olivia." She looked between everyone in the group, maybe they could win this anyway. "I suggest we maybe split up into smaller groups?" she suggested cautiously, thinking that it would be more efficient to find a flag if they spread out over a larger area. “But no one should go alone, you never know what kind of animals or traps there might be in this environment.

Olivia hoped she sounded more clever than scared. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing and if she were to be attacked by an animal, she wouldn’t stand a chance. Sure, she was brilliant at the theory part of school, but when it came to actually casting a spell… let’s just say Olivia was definitely never going to make the Gryffindor duelling team. She looked around at her team, fingering the sleeve of her flannel shirt that she wore over a tank top and a pair of shorts. This was going to work out, right?

Diana had never imagined that, only months after receiving her Hogwarts letter, she would find herself halfway across the world. It was nearing the end of the school year, but still, Diana, who was used to Hogwarts, was now in South America. Before signing up, she'd thought about it for a few days. But she couldn't pass up an opportunity to visit another magical school. This way, Diana was able to meet new people to see other cultures and activities that maybe she could appreciate back home at Hogwarts.

The journey from Scotland to Brazil had been filled with quiet wonders. Diana had read up about Brazil and Castelobruxo before she left Hogwarts, so she made sure she was well packed. Of course, she was going into a rain forest, so while she shouldn't need to wear winter clothes, she should at least wear something that has a hood on in case she needs to use her wand to attack.

Diana listened carefully as Headmaster Santiago led them deeper into the jungle and explained the rules of the game. But as she listened, she also found herself glancing around every chance she got, trying to take in every detail without falling behind the rest of the group. His warning that there were "eyes everywhere" lingered in her thoughts, prompting her to glance up into the thick canopy overhead. Whether he meant professors, magical creatures, or something else entirely, she wasn't certain. Somehow, she had a feeling she didn't really want to find out. Anything could be in the Amazon rainforest, just like how anything could be in the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts.

By the time she and Team Scarlet Macaw reached their base, Diana's nerves were outweighed by her excitement. She was familiar with Capture the Flag since she had also read up on the game before coming here, but she was excited to play and see how she and her teammates would do. As she looked at her teammates, she noticed that almost all of them were in second year with one being in third year and two being in first year, including herself. Everyone had come from Hogwarts, so she's seen everyone around, especially the ones in Ravenclaw.

As one of the girls introduced herself as Olivia, she also suggested splitting into smaller groups which Diana nodded in agreement. "I think that's a good idea," she said with a small smile. "We'll be able to cover more ground that way, and no one has to wander through the rainforest alone." Her gaze then drifted over to the dense trees before returning to her teammates. "I've never been anywhere like this before," she admitted with a quiet laugh. "I'd rather not get lost on my first visit." Diana offered the rest of her teammates an encouraging smile before she remembered to introduce herself. "I'm Diana, by the way. It's nice to meet all of you."

Emiline was excited for this game of Capture the Flag. However, considering most challenges and events go wrong in and around Hogwarts and other magical school, she was vigilant of her surroundings. She made sure to be wearing an outfit which would be easy to put out if it caught fire and dries quickly. She also made sure it was easy to move in with dark colours as of to blend on with the environment.

She knew there would be a high chance that she would be the eldest in the group, especially as she was a third year going into forth. But she didn't really mind, she got on well with many younger years, sort of acting like a big sister to them in a similar way to her big sister.

Emiline tied her hair up into a high ponytail while walking towards the clump she assumed was her team. As she approached she saw Avery Gray, a girl she had talked to thos year and had done som sketching with her. Emiline beamed and rushed over to give the girl a hug. "AVVVV! Nice to see ya here"

She then also noticed a girl who she shared a sleeping area with *twice* "Is that Bree?!" She grins more. Looking around at the resr of her team she didn't recognise a few but then saw Joeseph Sims. "Oh... you must have a habit of finding yourself in a woods or jungle then?" The brunette said in a jokey sarcastic tone.

Placing her hands on her hips, she looked at the rest of the team. "We've got this team! Those tucan's don't stand a chance!"

Once again, Lottie had found herself in a predicament.

This had become a much lesson common occurrence. The predicaments, that is. Trouble and all that, the works that made her mind so stuffed with various obligations she could hardly focus on what matters: her studies. It was natural, at least for her current line of habits, to be sent off on little adventures such as this.

Lottie did not know what capture the flag was, not formally, and she certainly didn't know what had dragged her all the way out to Castelobruxo to play it. Her team was also a mystery. A few of them she knew in passing, a fellow prefect, a former captain, the rest a scattered mismatch of fellow classmates. Then there was Evpraksiya. The enigma of a girl, both a mystery and a slowly opening book. Only because Lottie had been reading up on her. There was a depth to the girl, to her roots, that went beyond what the rest of Hogwarts may have believed. Lottie knew there was something more, though the exact details were muddled.

She wouldn't admit it, but her mind was quite occupied with these thoughts as she silently tied her hair up and prepared for the game to begin. Warily, she eyed Evpraksiya, before attempting to shake away her worries in favor of securing at least one win that year.
