Ducking Fantastic!
Alan had no idea what he was doing. To be fair it simply happened. He just heard about the chance about some extra practice while pranking a professor and had to take it. He actually did not even know the professor that well and had only seen him from afar, but he knew there was something not normal about @Alaric Equinox; he had red eyes! But well the prank seemed like fun and was harmless enough. But the most important thing was, that Alan would get to cuddle a lot of little ducklings!
Luckily @Cypresse Lian did not go on to talk too much about science and Alan was quite glad about that. He would not want any of this to end up with him just wanting to hide in a hole so he would not have to listen to all that science nonsense. Alan could do fine without that. One hour? No problem! Hopefully a few other students would jump in and help as well, because it would speed up the process of turning this corridor into a quacking mess. He cast a glance to his side where Tiger had curled into a ball of fluff and Alan already knew that the tomcat would have some fun chasing the small birds up and down the corridor.
"Okay, let's do this-", he murmured seemingly to no one in particular even though his words were actually directed towards his cat. His eyes caught sight off the floating candle closest to him and the third year readied his wand. After drawing the required sign into the air, he would speak the incantation and... lose all focus when Tiger meowed. So while the candle did indeed start to look like a duck, it never actually became a duck [crit fail]. But this fail was harmless enough so the third year would just cast it once again on the still candle and soon enough a quirky little duckling fluttered to the ground, quacking away [crit success]. "Y-yes!", he cheered, gaining the courage to try transforming some of the other candles as well.

Ducking Fantastic!
After his first fail that he was quick to fix, the third year wandered further down the hall towards the next candle. He was confident this time, after all he made a successful save with the last try and now only had to focus on doing it correctly. He now knew what he would have to do, how he would have to pronounce the spell and what wand movement would lead to a success, The only thing questionable was his concentration but he was willing to make it work, which in a way was already a spell halfway cast.
So now he was pausing and looked up to see the floating candles that lit the castle's corridors and a small smile appeared on his face as he would utter the incantation and pair it with the wand movement for what would hopefully turn out to be a success. He would picture it in his head, how the wax would transform in shape, getting rounder and a bit longer in length rather than height. The fire would extinguish as the wick of the candle would turn into a bit of fluffy downy feathers. A tiny beak would grow as the wax would would turn into the same kind of downy feathers of the young duckling with little legs and wings. This all would happen within a second, as the once candle would begin to move, embracing its new life as a little duckling fluttering to the ground.
Satisfied with this result he would watch Tiger from the corner of his eyes who began to chase the ducklings down the corridor without actually harming either of them. Alan would move on to transfigure more of the candles into small little ducklings before lastly transfiguring one into a little swan baby and another one into a small chick just to cause some variety. Even the little ducklings would all have different feather markings. One would be nearly completely black whereas the other was yellow with a few splotches of dark color on its feathers. He would even make one of them into an albino, which seemed like a fun little task as he had never actually seen an albino duckling. It certainly stood out of the little crowd of quacking creatures and Tiger was in his little chasing paradise as he tracked the little creatures down the hallways. Alan would turn to grin at @Cypresse Lian and wondered how @Alaric Equinox would react to this.

Ducking Fantastic!
@Alan Vanes
It had been a really long day for Alaric; he was on double patrol duty today, meaning he had been up very early, and he was bound to be up very late trying to keep the students safe. While the man should have been doing paperwork, he had been taking a nap on his desk, his faithful great white owl Zurie to be his alarm clock. He was confident the sassy owl enjoy the task far more than she should.
Zurie’s head perked up towards his door, and she flew over to it, looking at the crack at the bottom with intense intrigue. She hopped back and forth across the door's expanse, her talons clicking on the floor as she did so. This woke Alaric from his slumber, which for the moment was far better than what she usually did to him.
Then, however, her alertness had him striding across the room swiftly. Was she trying to tell him there was danger? Unlikely she would have been louder, but someone or something was outside of his door. “Zurie, to your perch.” He whispered to the owl, and after a moment, she obeyed. Alaric straightened his clothes and opened the door. “Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep!” Alaric startled for a moment before looking down and seeing a barrage of ducklings at his feet.
Alaric laughed a hearty laugh as he sat down on the cold stone floor and let some of the ducklings pile into his lap. He would pet them and play with them for a little while, chuckling at the very idea of this happening outside of his office.

If there are to be no more posts to this Alaric would eventually put the ducklings back to how they were supposed to be and go out upon his patrol.
