| --- | ---In any case, studying for OWLs, (also known as Obviously the Worst tests in any student's Life) was grueling work, but it became especially horrid when it came to the fact that Potions was Guinevere’s worst subject. Yet, here she was confined, in the damp classroom, stirring up hell in a rusty cauldron. ---The fumes invaded her desperately sweating face, forcing her arm to swat away the perspiration every now and then. At some point, the textbook had been cast to the side; perhaps it was overwhelming overconfidence in her underwhelming skill set, perhaps it was the bubbling pot of purple muck clouding her judgement. And, at some point, Guinevere had stirred exactly two seconds too long, and- ---“Oh EUGHH!” the disgruntled Slytherin yelped in disgust, along with some language as colorful as her failed potion. She leapt out of her stool and away from the spillage. The brunt of the potion had found its way onto her robes (a new set, she might add) but in the next moment, she scrunched her nose in confusion, feeling a sting on her forearm... Guinevere glanced down, the sight almost making her cry out again. There was a dark splat of potion right in the center, practically hissing at her like a cat. "Shit! Guys, can someone hand me a rag?" She groaned, wiping purple soup off her scalded skin. She racked her brain for a spell that could de-escalate her situation, but the only thing coming to mind was Ventus, of all things. A Burn Healing Paste would do nicely, but the last thing she wanted to do now was make a potion. ---Quickly, she excused herself from the classroom ("Yes professor, I'm just going to the Hospital Wing."). Clutching her arm, she hurried up the staircases, wishing there was some sort of convenience here like the muggle escavators or such. It was a long hike from the dungeons to the third floor, thus a new wave of sweat began to form upon her forehead. At last she pushed open the double doors and entered the sterile Hospital Wing. ---She had not been here too often as of late, and her memories of the place were mostly negative due to injuries sustained during her unsuccessful tenure as part of the Viridian Vipers. In second year, she had achieved an 100% get-knocked-out rate; in third year, she'd been a bit more lucky and was only rendered unconscious two times out of her three duels. Guinevere quickly learned her lesson and stepped away at the beginning of fourth year. Failing so miserably at something, in addition to being heavily scrutinized by her older peers, was not a pleasant feeling at all. She was at least grateful that her concerns dealt primarily with spell-induced injuries, unlike Quidditch players and broom racers, who faced being beat up or falling from a broom. ---The room was fairly occupied, and nurse seemed busy at the moment, and Guinevere didn't feel the need to disturb her over her measly burn (it was, in reality, beginning to visibly redden and swell). "Hey, you," she called to a girl who seemed to be an student helper. "I got myself a burn here, do you have something to treat this?" |

Coded by Melissa BlakeSo, this is not how I planned to spend my afternoon.
But I guess that's what you're getting when you're an intern: Your free afternoons just disappear.
Until now, all I had to do was help the nurse, take care of sleeping patients, help the nurse (again) and, occasionally, help with a potion or two. That's why I was so calm today: I was convinced that today was going to be just another boring day.
Wrong. The nurse today seemed to be really busy cause apparently, the quidditch teams were a bit moody with the brooms. Fortunately, my role in the last hour had been handle her the things she needed and keep an eye on the unconscious ones. Nothing hard.
So when I heard that voice coming from the door, I knew she couldn't be talking to the nurse. She was talking to me. And, as much as I tried to avoid it, I had to help her.
I turned around and approached her. Slytherin, way older than me, probably fifth or sixth year. And a nasty-looking burn in her arm. Amazing.
"Hi! Uh, sure, come here." I led her to an empty bed near us, where I waited for her to sit as I looked for some burn-healing potion. I'm sure the nurse had left some of it over here this morning...Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

| --- | ---The girl turned to address Guinevere, who was relieved that she was indeed an intern, rather than another patient. The girl, a member of the bird faction - clad in blue as Guinevere could see now - looked annoyed. Even more annoyed than Guinevere at herself, perchance. She supposed that was what working in healthcare could do to a person, though she still had a large amount of respect for the medical profession. She was led to a cot, flanked by an unconscious Quidditch player on her right and on her left, a young girl whose ailment she could not clearly identify. ---"Thanks," she said as she sat at the edge. It was awkward to Guinevere, for some reason, to fully lay on a hospital bed when one was not severely ill or injured. There was simply a lack of need; either that or an unnecessary show of weakness. "It was beginning to tingle." ---The healer girl had hurried away already, looking for the medicine. With her situation settled, Guinevere was already beginning to develop an itch to return to her work station and attempt the potion again. She couldn’t afford to do poorly on a single OWL, unless she wanted to feel stupid for the rest of her life. Or maybe it was just the burn mildly festering on her arm, developing a personality of its own. Seeing as unconscious people usually didn't have the capacity for small talk, she turned to the left. ---"So, what're you in here for?" she asked. "Sports, or something else?" |

Another one!? Not even the quidditch teams hurt themselves that way! Saints, even the duellists were more careful, and I say it as an (almost) duellist.
I turned arond, slowly, with the burn healing potion already in my hand. There was now another Slytherin next to the first one. This one, at least, seemed to be my same age.
With a deep sigh, I began inspecting the first girl's arm.
"This looks nasty, did you spill the potion over yourself or what?" I muttered under my breath as my eyes narrowed at the sight. Well, if there was something I was known for, my discreetness was definitely not it.
Now, my hands were clean already, but honestly, I didn't truly... trust water in Hogwarts. So, just for safety, I had the weird habit of wearing some latex gloves. A silly muggle thing mom used to do each time I ended with my knee scraped and, somehow, the habit sticked with me. Besides, the nurse had never said anything to me about it, so it's not like it wasn't allowed...
Anyway, who cares if these girls didn't know what I was doing? It was safer this way. As I ended up putting my gloves on, I finally decided to address the other Slytherin girl.
"Oh, that also looks bad. What on earth did you girls do to end up like this?"
Now, scolding was definitely not my intention. But seriously, there was a line between being careful and being clumsy. And these girls seemed to use that line as a jumping rope.
As you may have noticed, I was not in the mood for anything.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

| --- | ---It could be said that Guinevere was not great at hiding her feelings, especially on her face. A quizzical expression quickly fought its way to the surface at the younger Slytherin's dry comment. Besides the delivery, it wasn't like she hadn't seen the eye roll just moments earlier. Was this... judgement... from an underclassmen? Realizing her mistake in attitude, she adjusted her tone slightly. ---"Well, it was a potion burn, and it doesn't look like you're that much better off..." she trailed off, glancing at the blood on her hand. "Good job cutting your arm open, or was it someone else who did it?" She figured her best bet was simply to joke herself, albeit unfunnily, out of her awkward situation. How she wished the younger Slytherins knew they didn't have an obligation to act so snarky... ---At this moment the medicine girl had come back over. She had the potion in tow, but she also had a pair of black gloves on. Guinevere interpreted this as her not wanting to touch anybody's bodily fluids, which she agreed with wholeheartedly. And then, the girl had reprimanded the two of them both, asking what had caused these injuries. ---"Potion burn... and I believe she wishes to have three arms," she replied with a wry smile that seemed more like a grimace. |

Coded by Melissa Blake... So I shouldn't have asked that. This clearly seems to be some kind of Slytherin-pride-war. I'm out.
I kept wrapping the old girl's arm as the younger one replied. What was her problem? She wasn't perfect. No one was. Getting your arm burned in an accident was something that happened even to the most experienced ones.
The corner of my lip twitched a bit as I subtly looked around, looking for help from another intern or the Nurse herself. Nope. The other interns seemed to be as busy as the nurse with the players. I rolled my eyes, regretting every single choice in my life that led me here today.
"Yeah... you girls should be more careful." I muttered as I finished wrapping her arm and began looking for something to help the other one. "Uh... try not to move it in the next twenty minutes. It will itch a bit, but that's normal. Come back in two days to see how it's going." The words came out in an almost robotic way to the older Slytherin, as my hands kept gathering the usual things to close the other girl's wound and help her.
The cherry of the cake? It looked like there was no bruise removal paste left. Apparently, the only one that we had was being used on the players, and I didn't want to bother the nurse by asking her more when it was clear that those guys needed it deseperately.
So I improvised. This was a medical place. There should be something to help clean a wound, right? It's impossible that this happened the only day I decided not to bring my disinfectant gel with me.
I just needed something with alcohol...
As the girl kept doing that disgusted face, I stood up and looked for a cloth and... Eureka! I thanked the Saints for the intern or patient with enough muggle knowledge to leave a small bottle of alcohol in a drawer. This was an emergency. I'm sure the nurse will understand.
I came back to the bed with the two girls and took the young one's arm.
"We're gonna have to do this the muggle way." And, without waiting for her reaction, I spilled just a bit of the content of the bottle in the wound.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

| --- | ---Oh Merlin, what had she gotten herself into? Surely she was hallucinating it all? To first physically injure herself, then to have a feisty basically-child berating her... why was the nurse not doing anything, or even that monkey-in-the-middle intern? She sighed loudly, maybe even condescendingly, to say something back. Children these days (she is aware that she, too, is a child) had no respect for authority... there was probably an all-time high in detentions with this new class. "At least I was doing something that involves effort and brain activity," Guinevere offered, still in the same mildly entertained voice, watching as the Ravenclaw girl wrapped up her arm. Following her instructions, she set it on the bedframe and watched as she left again to get something. She turned back to the feisty snakelet in front of her. "Your situation is like getting injured from walking around, which is just being clumsy. Shows how you couldn't even pick up a bottle without emptying out your arteries." She wanted to slap herself, because that sentence didn't even make sense. She tried again. ---"Why do you even care? You're out here blowing your lid off over something stupid I did to myself." She raised an eyebrow. At this point, Guinevere was just exasperated and on edge, leading her to say things she usually wouldn't. This was all very out of character, but very amusingly so. She almost smiled whilst saying, "Your potioneering skills probably don't even come close to the worst in my class. You could come try, or-" ---She didn't have to say anything else. The healer had come back with a bottle of alcohol, and Guinevere fought to suppress a smirk as soon as she saw the contents in her hand. This should be funny, she thought, covering her mouth and nose with her good hand in the fashion that said, "Oh, I am simply too dainty to let you know that I'm laughing right now." |
