Times were truly dire. For the first time in her life, Cecilia entered the great hall with her hung head low. Not even she could think of a light hearted remark to soften the blow of their crushing defeat. As such, she took to having her meal at a different hour to avoid the matter. Even her favourite pancakes tasted particularly bland on this quiet morning. Sure, losing a game was not the end of the world, but it totally sucked and she was going to spend the majority of breakfast time sulking over it.

While jabbing her silver fork into another buttery stack, her gaze lazily drifted over the crowd in the great hall until she appeared — Aly Salinger, a glimmer of hope. Her eyes lit up as she recalled the fond memory of the first Quidditch match she attended at Hogwarts. As the final moments drew near, the hum of the crowd briefly died down. Gasps could be heard all around her as the Ravenclaw seeker spiralled down sharply in pursuit of the golden snitch. Although that had led to the defeat of Slytherin, Cecilia could not help but admire her determination.

Unbeknownst to her, that day would mark the beginning of a successful year for Ravenclaw. A few days ago, they had just claimed another win, thanks to their seeker-captain no doubt. With two wins under their belt, Cecilia naturally assumed Ravenclaw would claim a third. When that thought came to mind, another quickly followed.

As a seventh year, Aly would be graduating soon. It wasn’t every day one got to meet their hero. A nagging feeling told her that if she did not act now, the opportunity would likely never arise again.

Rising from her seat with a newfound sense of urgency, Cecilia lifted her plate of half-nibbled pancakes and quickly scrambled over. Had she not been nimble enough, she would have likely fallen flat onto her face with how often she stepped onto her robes.

“Excuse me, Miss Salinger?” Cecilia said softly, somehow recalling her manners. If her grandmother saw her now, she would remark that behaving as a proper child was clearly not as difficult as Cecilia made it out to be.

“Sorry for disturbing you,” she apologised meekly. Cecilia was far from shy, but the last thing she wanted was to be a bother to someone she held in high regard.

“I wanted to say congratulations on another Quidditch win!” A bright grin stretched across her face. “And if it’s not too much trouble, could you spare some time for a brief chat? I’m… a fan of yours.”
