Alexa blushed at Mystery Anne’s exclamation about blowing stuff up. She hadn’t meant to, certainly. She only knew that she had done it, because she felt the connection between her emotions and the reaction of the turkey. She hadn’t meant to…

“That’s really cool!” Alexa said, when the other girl mentioned cracking a TV screen, especially when she was so young. Alexa wasn’t sure, but all the other stories she had heard from students had told of magic done in their later ages, somewhere between seven and 10. So this seemed impressive to her, that Mystery Anne had done magic so early.

“I don’t think it was lame,” Alexa said in response to the other girl. “I’ve never heard of anyone doing magic so early, so I think that’s neat!” She smiled at the other girl.

Alexa looked thoughtful at the other girl’s first question. “They didn’t realize I had done it, so they were shocked of course, but they didn’t connect it to me at all. I was so shocked I just sat there and stared. We all had turkey all over us,” she chuckled lightly. When she heard the rest of the girl’s comments, Alexa raised her eyebrows in surprise. “Oh, I’d never meant to do it on purpose! So it didn’t even occur to me about it happening again. I couldn’t have done it again if I had tried. I had just gotten so upset with their fighting, you know?”

“How did your parents take it when you first in magic?”

Mystery Anne shrugged, "they were certainly happy. But it was expected, I guess. All the excitement really was when magic manifested early for me. But that was it. The second time was just me getting over excited and my parents were definitely worried that time because we had muggle guests. Luckily, they didn't see anything because they were outside." She giggled now at the thought of what her parents might have done then. Then she stopped because that meant, if muggles saw they'd be in trouble with the Ministry.

"Anyhow, how is your lessons going?" she said changing the subject. "I was so sure this was going to be so much fun. But reading all those things just makes my eyes hurt. My mom would probably scold me if she heard it. She'd say I was just making up excuses again not to study. Have you found a favorite subject yet?" She remembered with a frown the books all laid out on her bedroom at the moment. She hoped she remembered to tuck the papers under the books otherwise, they'll be flying everywhere. And her dorm mates won't probably like it if they found the room in a mess. One girl was definitely a little obsessed about neatness. She worried a little about the thought, but then decided she'll just apologize if it happened.

Mystery Anne giggled after telling Alexa about her second instance of accidental magic, and Alexa couldn’t help but smile in response. “What did you do the second time?” She asked, privately thinking that the other girl was lucky that the Muggles (it was still weird for her to say that word in her mind or out loud; foreign sounding) had not seen.

“My lessons are going well, thank you!” She said in response to the question as the subject was changed. “It is a lot of reading,” Alexa agreed, “but I’ve been enjoying it so far.” She smiled, thinking about her lessons. She was really enjoying learning magic; she even enjoyed the homework! “My favorite subject is Charms! How do you like your lessons, and which is your favorite?” She had found that she seemed to have an aptitude for Charms, and enjoyed it as well as Defense Against the Dark Arts. History of Magic was also interesting. There was so much to learn, and it seems like not nearly enough time to learn it!
