Word count: 411-------☆-------Claudia liked the quill and the ink she used. They flowed smoothly, kind of like how fabric folds when you're wearing it. She wondered why her classes never had smooth quills like these. The ink was lumpy, dull, and partly dry. She guessed it was because if they could write smooth, they wouldn't pause or think of the lesson. They would just think of the words.
Claudia wondered why she wrote that particular letter to her mother. The words just flew out, I guess she thought. It was so easy to write with the ink or quill, so, so easy. She decided that she probably wouldn't send the letter. Emmelynne would want something happy and upbeat. Claudia picked up her quill and thought of how to fake happiness to her father.Claudia sighed. Now that was more like it. She still only talked about something other than her and didn't ask about the family, but it was better than nothing. At least this letter made it seem as if she had lots of friends and nothing to worry about. The only thing that needed fixing was that it didn't sound quite like her. "We'll all be in a pickle?" she would never say that! Claudia folded up her letter to Mack and set it to the side. She somehow felt worse after writing his than she did with writing Emmelynne's. She licked her lips and wondered who to write the next letter to.Mack Gears,
Thanks for the chemistry books, dad! Those potions were very interesting to read. I wonder, could you get me a book with the Pepperup potion? You know, the one that cures Covid- 19? I'm interested about how it works. Maybe we could slip the potion into one of their labs and - scratch that. If we do that the muggles will find strange ingredients and then we'll all be in a pickle.
Have any new donations been added to the library? The potions muggles make are primitive, but I want to compare our magical potions to theirs which they made with no magic. I wonder what makes ours so different from theirs. Is it the ingredients? The added bit of magic? Or is it just simply our... creativity?
I would absolutely love anything you send my way, so I'll be waiting to learn even more!
Ever curious,
Claudia Gears
P.S. I want to hear one of your theories.-------☆-------

Word count: 423-------☆-------Claudia licked her lips and wondered who to write to next. She had her mom and her dad, so who was next? She listed her family and then remembered the obvious. She hadn't written to Dante or Antonio yet! Since neither of them could read, she decided to group them together. It would be easier, anyways. All she had to do was talk about the sorting ceremony. They were younger than she was, and bound to end up in Hogwarts some day. The twins would probably be curious about the different houses and what happened to her during the ceremony. Since they were both likely to go to Ravenclaw, Claudia decided that she would probably talk about the Ravenclaw dorm room. Although... they were both boys. The library maybe? No, they were too young to even care. Her friends? Wait, she had none. Claudia finally gave in. I'll probably just talk about the sorting ceremony. I doubt I'll need more than that she thought. Anyways, it's not like they'll remember this for the rest of their lives, anyways. I could talk about dragons even though I know nothing about them for all they care! Claudia decided just to write.
Claudia decided that the twins would like her letter. Her parents probably would like it too. She stretched and then folded the letter up to send later. The Twins,
Although you can't read yet, I'm writing to both of you. Call me a good sister if you must. No, seriously, just call me a good sister. Anyways, mom or dad will be reading this to you so you better be on your absolute best behavior! Be silent, don't move, and don't even think.
The sorting ceremony at Hogwarts is very.. official. You have to sit in front of everyone wearing a big hat on your head. Not very good if you have stage fright I'd imagine. They call your name in alphabetical order, so we're lucky because we get to go early. The sorting hat is rather rude, and he talks about you with no hesitation. Like I expected, I got sorted into Ravenclaw. You guys will probably be sorted there too.
When you're done, you sit down at your house table. Everyone welcomes you in and are so nice! You'll love it here, both of you will. When the sorting ends, you can eat. They have the most magnificent food here at Hogwarts. I honestly can't wait until you come!

Word count: 405-------☆-------Claudia felt tired from her letters. Pretending to be super exited about Hogwarts and the castle had taken a lot out of her. She wondered if the twins would like it. They probably would until their patience ended. She bet that a little after the first paragraph, their mind would wander. Emmelynne would probably scold them saying that they should be proud to have a letter from their sister at Hogwarts. Claudia wondered why that was. Didn't every with or wizard go to Hogwarts?
She stretched a little before she started writing her next letter. Claudia's immediate family was crossed off, so who would she write to next? She decided to write to her aunt, Estelle Burrows. While her aunt was a good person, Claudia thought she liked to talk way too much. She wouldn't have to say a lot other than ask about her travels. Anyways, she was pretty much guaranteed a response. Not that Claudia wanted one, but still. Her aunt loved to talk, and Claudia figured she needed an excuse. Claudia wondered if her aunt would gather up some potion recipes for her. It was worth a try.
Claudia smiled. One more left to go!Estelle Burrows,
How was your trip to France? Was is romantic? You should write back to me in French just to see if I can understand it (spoiler alert: I can't). Was the tower pretty? Probably scary, right? I mean, you'd be standing so high up! You should write a letter to my parents about the food you had there. Was it good? Was it bad? I hear that French pastries are super good. I wish I traveled with you.
Just because why not, I want to ask you about the wizarding world there. I want to know how advanced their potions are. Are there any famous potion makers over there? Hey, why don't you send me some potion recipes from your travels? That would seriously mean a lot to me.
Tell me where you're going next. Rome? Italy? Venice? Oooh, you should definitely go to Venice. It would be so unique and different from everywhere else! All that water and stuff. Hmm, I wonder if they owl their own boats there. Probably do. Are they kind of like our cars? Wait... are they more expensive than cars? Or are they the same price? Less than?
Curiously,

Word count: 459-------☆-------Claudia paused as she thought of who to write to next. No one else but her aunt really sent letters to her family. She glanced at her letters and realized that the letter she wrote to her mother was neveeer going to be sent. She'll probably wonder why I didn't write to her, Claudia remembered, I should probably make a new one to give to her. I don't want her to worry. But Claudia felt like she had dug herself into a deep, dark hole. Unlike her letter to her father, Claudia had no idea what to talk about. She had nothing in common with her mother really. She supposed that she could talk about random things.
Claudia put her quill to paper for the last time for this errand. She could already smell the aroma of chocolate in the air and feel the sensation of it melting on her tongue. She would claim those chocolate frogs soon, and nobody was stopping her.
Ready... I'm going to make sure this shines!
Set... Those chocolate frogs will all be mine!
Go! Claudia smoothed the wrinkles on her parchment, dipped her quill with fresh ink, and got ready to write.
Claudia yawned and folded up her letters, putting them in her pocket to send later. As she stood up, she felt a sense of accomplishment. She had just finished her first errand.Emmelynne Gears,
I can't believe that I almost forgot to write to you! This is my last letter for today, so I hope to make this one count!
I got sorted into Ravenclaw like we all thought I would. No surprise there, but I'm still giddy from excitement. The dorm is surprisingly big and there are a lot of interesting and fun people. I participate in the games and I'm talking to people, so you'll be glad.
The library is super big! I walk in and I'm instantly amazed even though I've been there so many times. It never grows old to me. The farther back I go, the older books get. I love when I read an old, dusty book that no one has read in a long time. It makes me feel as if I'm discovering something new even though I'm not. Still, roaming the shelves feels like my own kind of adventure.
I miss home, but I feel as if I already belong in Hogwarts. It feels like the place I was meant to be. I know it's just a silly school, but it feels like more than that to me. I bet everyone else here feels the same way. Did you feel the same way when you were here?
Your loving daughter,

Three letters done but maybe she could write two more... She hadn't been this dedicated to writing in forever. Pondering, the feather of her quill flicked gently against her chin. Who else could she write? Oh! One person she hadn't seen in a little while was @Serena Towers . The last time they ran into each other was probably when they sat together at the lake, their pets with them. Pizza and Pip. Ha. Pretty cute names now she thought of them again...
But sure! Why not? Except, there was the other problem. What to write her about? Maybe it would... come when she starts scribbling on the paper. Sure. Let's go with that.
Dear Serena,
Hi! Here comes a letter from a thankful Slytherin who would probably not be where she was right now if she hadn't met you at the time she did. I probably thanked you before but I'll thank you again: Thank you for supporting me on that Halloween Party when I needed it the most. I didn't know alot of people. You were probably the second person who was ever nice to me and showed me the hospitality that the Hufflepuff House is known for. Rightfully so.
However, I did run in a few Badger students who... proved that even in the warmest Houses, there will be bullies. Or... rude people, at least.
This school is scary and has many questionable events. Makes one wonder why the Professors keep on organising these. Either way. I hope you're doing okey and school is going fine. Maybe we can grab lunch together sometime and have a little chat? Just to catch up on things and... I miss you too.
I'm usually never this open or fluent towards others. Even in a letter... I suppose it means I feel very comfortable around you.
I hope you are safe and sound when you receive this.
Warm hugs
-Nico
With slightly gloomy eyes, Nico slid the next letter in an envelope and drew a small badger in the corner. It looked abit dumb, but Serena would surely appreciate it.
Who would be the next and last victim of her writing spree...? Her parents. They hadn't received anything from her in a while. Might be best to keep them up to date. With her pale fingers, the dhampir picked up a last piece of parchment and quietly let the quill slide across the surface.
With a deep sigh, the redhead slid the last letter into an envelope before putting it on the pile next to her. Four more she needed to send with an owl. Carefully tidying her spot. Chair back in place. The dhampir gave a final nod at the Professor before quietly leaving the Library. A quick visit to the Owlery and then some food would be the plan.Dear Mom and Dad,
It's me. Nico. You already figured that out, I'm sure. School has been pretty fine. This school is a living nightmare. Or this one event at my Common Room was. There were spiders, mom. Big spiders that crawled from behind the door and started attacking the Slytherin students. I tried to be strong. But you know how I hate those things. They have too many legs and they move in a weird way. They terrify me and make me freeze up. If they had just... run around and minded their own business, I might've been able to do something. But.. they bit me. They bit nearly everyone. I have some scars on my leg, back and shoulder now.
No need to worry though, the Nurse had us covered. I will have to return soon to get my weekly dose of antidote. I'm not sure what it is... Neither do they, apparantly.
I try to stay positive. I try to smile but... Recently I see no use for that. Only the people who truly make me happy and who I can trust, see that smile that you love. With this happening, I need to be more... vigilant and stern. Alot of students don't seem to... Listen to me. And I honestly tried to convince them but they just see a powerhungry child. Not someone who has their best interest. And I'm so tired of them hating me for it. But not anymore. If I have to be harsh, I will be harsh. There will be no inbetween and they'll have to take it....
Or something like that. E-Either way. I'll be fine. I have some friends who I can depend on and talk with about this stuff. I'll write again soon.
Lots of love,
Your chompers
-Nico
P.S. I have a really tall boyfriend now.

Translation for the Finnish portion at the bottom under reducioAirlia was feeling gloomy as she wandered around the castle. She hadn't gotten a letter from her brother in two months and worried. She wondered if he had finally settled down and thus didn't have any stories of wild adventures and his struggles from around the world. Or maybe... Maybe he was hurt or just didn't have money to buy parchment.
While Airlia had tried to send her brother money he had always refused her. Since Airlia's brother Gael had run off from home to travel the world with his boyfriend he hadn't taken any charity. He wished to meet the real world and struggle as any other would. He wanted to work for twelve hours in the hot sun and feel hunger and thirst. He wanted to make his own money and work for every penny for he would rather go hungry than to go back to his perfect life of money and propriety.
In a way, Airlia understood that. Or well she understood as well as any other twelve years old could which is not very well. But she still worried about her brother as he was so utterly dear to her.
When she stumbled into the library and spotted people writing letters with their heads down, some smiling and others not.
Airlia got settled by a private desk and took some parchment, ink, and a quill. With a long unhappy sigh, she began to write.

My dearest brother,
With words, I can not describe how much I miss you.
Not a day goes by that I do not think of you and your silence worries me so.
Where are you? Are you safe?
I shan't ask you to come home, but I pray you are safe.
Forget me not.
You shall be in my heart eternally.

Dee's gaze roamed off towards the windows through which blue sky was visible. This letter-writing thing was fun, but it had been only a matter of time until her attention wandered off. There was nothing to be gained, no goals to be reached, no competition to be won, no new knowledge, no adventure, or new friends. She itched to leave and go explore the grounds with one of her friends.
Looking back down on the remaining sheets of parchment on her clipboard, she hesitated. She did want to write one more - just to make it five - but she'd also kind of run out of people she wanted to send a letter to.
Dealla resumed the absentminded chewing on her glitter pen, before suddenly, her eyes lit up with realization. Maybe there was a way to make new friends with letters!
Eyes bright and expression focused, she started scribbling.
She'd have to figure out where to leave this, and probably nothing would come of it, but maybe, something would, and alone for that, writing it would have been worth it.Hi to whoever finds this!
So, I've been sitting here in the library for a while, writing letters, and this is my last one. For today, I mean, not my last one ever! I just thought it would be fun to try to meet someone like this? Without the pressure of making a good impression. Like, you can just be yourself, with no fear of judgement, because what would the other person do? I don't know who you are, you don't know who I am - you could tell me all your secrets and I would never guess they're yours. that they're yours You know what I mean, I wouldn't know who you are, so it doesn't matter.
Do you have deep dark secrets? I'd love to hear them
Anyway, we're supposed to spread positivity with this, right? So, I'm sure, whoever you are, you're amazing, and if you want to tell me something about yourself, just leave a letter where you found this! At least I hope you're amazing.
Also, don't worry, I don't usually write in pink glitter pen. Today's an exception.
- D.
Two minutes later, she was leaving the library, five small, folded pieces of parchment in her hands.

Translation for the Finnish portion at the bottom under reducioAfter writing a letter to her brother Airlia sat silently at one of the private desks. For some reason, she was hesitating. Her brother was all she could see and not the sheets of parchment and books in front of her. But her brother looked so much like her father.
His nearly white hair and chiseled face. His tall structure and fair skin. For some reason, her fingers were aching to pick up the quill again and write to her father.
The man was not easy to reach and she most likely would not get a letter back. But she wanted her father to know she'd thought of him too. They had gotten slightly closer after she came back from the first year and yet writing a letter to her own father felt... Foreign.
She twirled a quill between her fingers and before she knew it she placed her quill against the parchment and began writing in old Finish lettering to her father. The old alphabet came to her like breathing and watching the ink to spread into words that felt unfamiliar when written to her father was nearly mesmerizing. Most of her focus was on how easy it seemed to be to write that one simple letter and yet she didn't seem to mind.
The ink twirled along the page and soon she found herself sealing the letter and looking down at it like she had created a masterpiece. Maybe... Just maybe her father would notice her now.𝔄𝔢𝔰𝔬𝔫 ℑ𝔰ä𝔫𝔦,

Aeson My father,
I wish you good health and blessings.
May is nearing its end and vappu⁎ is over.
I was not able to celebrate our sanctimonious day at Hogwarts,
so I wish you have left a sacrifice for Tapio⁑ in my stead.
I shall come home soon and I plead you to come greet me at King's Cross.

The dictionary for Finnish words that lack an English translation
⁎ "Vappu" ~ An old Finnish holy day that stems from ancient Finnish religions and is celebrated by many Finns as it marks the beginning of sunny days and asks for blessings to keep livestock safe from predators. It also has roots in witchcraft and magic and it's a holy celebration.
⁑ "Tapio" is an ancient Finnish God of forests and was celebrated with sacrifices in the old days. There once was a time when Tapio was so intertwined with the essence and life of Finland that the entire country was called: 'Tapiola' which means: "Land of Tapio." Tapio is also a word meaning 'bear' in Finnish.

If the whole idea of the letters was to spread love in the castle then that is what she would do.
Once again dipping her quill in ink she began to write. But who to? She had made many friends at the castle yet none of them outshone the others. They were all so fun and exciting to spend time with so how could she choose?
Out of all the friends she had made she thought back to the girl she had met in the owlery. The poor girl had hurt herself on an owl talon after someone played a mean prank on her and Airlia ended up taking care of her in the healing wing when they couldn't find a mediwitch.

Love Note Leavers
Letter to her mother & her sister𝓐madea quite enjoyed writing letters. She sometimes struggled to form the right words to express herself during a normal conversation and having the time to sit and just think about what she wanted to say before writing it down helped her a lot. That was why she found herself in the library, participating in the Love Notes errand. Of course, Amadea didn't have anyone to write a romantic love note to, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to write a letter. She had so many people she could express her gratitude toward, so she decided to start with the two obvious choices: her mother and her sister. Taking out her quill and quickly dipping it into the ink, Amadea began to write.
Satisfied with her first letter, Amadea set it aside to send to her mother later. She then picked up another piece of paper, ready to write her second letter. This one was going to be a little bit longer, she thought to herself. Kat was her sister and her best friend; there was nothing that Amadea would hide from her sister, which was why she was planning on writing a long and candid message to her.April 26, 2020
Dear Mum,
I miss you so much. I know that I haven't been gone for that long and that I will see you very soon, but it feels like a lifetime. I hope you and Kat are doing well! Hogwarts hasn't really changed since I've gotten back, but everything feels so different. Maybe I just have a new perspective on life now, but everything just seems different for some reason. Everything is different.
Anyway. I hope you are doing well. Please give my best to Aunt Emma and Jake! Let me know what you and Kat have been up to. I miss hearing your voices.
Sending all my love,
Amadea
Writing letters wasn't supposed to be this depressing, was it? Amadea wondered to herself. She sighed, sealing up the second letter and placing it on top of the first, ready to be shipped off. She tried to muster up a little more happiness; she would soon get to see her owl when she sent the letters. Trying to brighten her spirits, Amadea decided her next letter would be a much happier one.April 26, 2020
Kat,
How are you? I miss you so much. I hope school is going well; I can understand the difficulty of the transition. Have you made any new friends? How are your old friends? What have you and Mum been up to? I wrote to her as well, and I hope she is doing well. Please tell me the truth, though, because I have a feeling she's going to make sure to gloss over anything that's bothering her because she doesn't want me to worry. I do worry about her, though. I worry about you too. Did I leave too soon? Should I have not gone back to finish third year at all? I could always have just repeated third year next year...
I'm trying not to dwell on all of the "what-ifs" too much. Dr. Sherman says it's unhealthy, but that's its part of the grieving process. I spend a lot of nights just thinking about all of the different scenarios, you know? How are you doing with all of this? Has Dr. Sherman given you any different advice that's helped you?
I miss you and Mum so much. I wish you could be here with me. I wish a lot of things were different. I love you.
Dea
