Ileen watched the argument between the two girls slightly amused. From her experience, calling Dee by her full name when it was this obvious that the intent was to provoke her might end up badly for both sides involved in the discussion. That was also the reason why she decided to stay out of it.
However, that turned out to be not as easy as she had thought. Her amusement turned into disbelief when Ersa accused them of not being up to the challenge. Ileen flushed immediately for two reasons: Even if she was still denying it, the small part who had been embarrassed about setting bets on other children was still there. And Ersas harsh words dug that feeling up again.
The second and way more important reason was that although the provocation was so obvious, it still worked on Ileen - even though she realized it! She felt her face get hot and her fists clenched. Did Ersa really think that they would not be able to manage the obstacles? It had been clear that they had simply had no desire to participate!
Without giving them a chance to react, the other Slytherin turned around and headed across the field towards the obstacles. While Ileen was still figuring out the right way to tell Ersa how wrong she was about her, Dee obviously didn't bother to think about it much and just volunteered both of them to prove the Slytherin wrong.

Ileen’s mouth dropped open as the other two girls headed towards the parkour and just left her standing here.
“Oh no, not with me!” she growled with clenched teeth, put both hands on the barrier and swung herself over it. Her heart raced when she started sprinting to catch up with Dee and Ersa. “I’ve been climbing my whole childhood. I’ll take the monkey bars!” she declared grimly, answering Ersas questions about her climbing skills. “Meet you at the finish line! You'll see that we can do this ridiculous parkour with ease!
She determinedly fixed the selected obstacle. No one ever tells me what I can do and what I can not do! She asked for it. I will be finished the fastest with the monkey bars, and totally beat that short guy! Just wait for it!
Also she was a bit concerned. It really had been a while since she last climbed.

Ersa flinched back, not in fear of Dealla's reciprocation but the force of it. She hadn't really expected her to react that way, knowing she had only meant to be funny, but the girls reacting angrily. She had to admit that it was a little daunting because she hadn't expected it but she was glad that her words had sparked them into action rather than stand on the sidelines like dweebs.

"Do you see a practice course anywhere?" Dealla cried in irritation. Ersa pursed her lips into a tight frown. She hated being yelled at, especially in front of others. Some people had glanced over. "I only see teams, competing in the race and getting timed. What was I supposed to think when you said you were going to try it alone?"

Ersa parted her lips to say something else but the girl continued. "Also, why would you practice for something like this anyway?" The Slytherin's eyes scrunched up on genuine confusion. "It's not important, and watching you go over the same small obstacle five times is boring and steals time from everyone waiting to do the race."

She was starting to think the girl wasn't that clever, and she wasn't afraid to say it, either. "Blimey," she said calmly, trying to hide her own rising anger. "You must being missing a few up there." Ersa tapped her head, giving the girl a smile of mock pity. "Have you never heard of a warm-up? That's what all athletes do before they go at it, you eejit. Less you pull a muscle or worse."

But the girls seemed to hardly be listening. They had followed Ersa to the obstacle course, determined to prove the Slytherin that they weren't just bystanders in the wake of victory.

"And of course we can do the race if we want to! Who do you take us for? You'll see!" Dealla said.

Ileen ran in from behind them. “I’ve been climbing my whole childhood. I’ll take the monkey bars!” Ersa heard a hint of austerity in the girl as she made her way over to her chosen obstacle course. “Meet you at the finish line! You'll see that we can do this ridiculous parkour with ease!”

"Then why didn't you just do it the first place...," muttered Ersa as she headed for the hurdles. She was kind of feeling uneasy. Not because she thought she would bomb the running—she was sure that it would be a breeze—but the closeness between the Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Ersa felt a hint of...betrayal. Or was it jealousy? She shook her head; she hardly knew Ileen.

"And of course we can do the race if we want to! Who do you take us for? You'll see!" Dealla went over to the rope net. "I'll take the rope net. Have fun breaking your legs while you stumble over the dumb hurdles."

Ersa's eyes flashed at her in anger. "You better watch yer mouth, you dumb b—"

A whistle blew nearby. One of the professors was coming over to time their race.

They were supposed to get ready. Ersa wrung out her arms and legs, running in place for a moment, before she took her stance. She wished that she could've practiced beforehand, or at least have done some stretches. Dealla was kind of right, now that she could see. The obstacles wasn't meant to be difficult. The hurdles were small and easy to leap over but still, Ersa believed that it wouldn't hurt to at least do one practice run, just to get the blood moving first. That's why runners did it before they did marathons. She's just a dumb Ravenclaw, ironically.

The whistled blew. Ersa grabbed the color rag on the floor and shot off. There were about ten hurdles, less than she was accustomed too but that only made it better. She leapt over the first, second, and third one with ease but almost faltered on the fourth. She cursed under her breath but went on, determined not to look stupid. She flew over the fifth and six, already breaking into a sweat. Ersa hated being watched in competition z especially by wizards. Muggles were okay, she had been raised thinking they were weak. Even though she didn't truly believe that anymore, since she felt like they had their own ways of showing strength, especially by the sheer number of them, wizards made her feel dumb for making even a tiny mistake. She was urging her body not to stop.

Eventually she made it to the tenth one and crossed over it. She slapped the rag into Ileen's hand with a glare. "Go'on, show us how to do it, then." Her brows were furrowed in menace but a speck of affection lied their for her fellow Slytherin. She hoped the girl would do well on the monkey bars. Dealla, on the other hand?

Well, she hoped the Ravenclaw would fall off and truly break something.

OOC: Dealla and Ileen changed post order to continue with Ersa’s post who handed the rag over to Ileen.
Ileen watched Ersa with arched eyebrows while she joined the short line waiting for the monkey bars. Now it was on a personal level for Dee and that other girl. Well - that escalated quickly. She wondered if something had already happened between them - but no. In that case, Dee would have told me.
Of course, Ileen was also angry. Angry enough that she had let Dee volunteer her for this race, even though she had made it clear that she didn’t want to join. But the same had applied to Dee. And right now, Ileen was determined to show that she was capable of mastering those stupid monkey bars.
But somewhere along the road it had become nasty. And Ileen could not judge the new girl at all. From her point of view Ersa had already reacted unexpectedly earlier and that was completely incomprehensible to Ileen. Ersa seemed to hate Dee.

While Ileen stretched her arm, as she really did not want to hurt herself, she watched the hurdle run of the other Slytherin. Although it was close once or twice, Ersa managed it without falling down or knocking over a hurdle.
When Ersa arrived at her and hit her the rag into her free hand, Ileen bit her teeth together. Did she think Ileen would back down now? After Ersa had completed her obstacle course without any mistakes, Ileen would give more than everything to be at least as successful.
You bet!” she shouted while she was already running towards her own obstacle. She had placed the rag in her pocket.
She now demanded everything from her body. To reach the first bar, she had to jump a bit, but easily managed to close both of her hands around the cool metal. A strong but not unpleasant pull went through her shoulder muscles. A rare, triumphant smile spread across her face as she released one hand to grasp the next pole. She could still do it!
But soon the smile on her face disappeared and was replaced by a strained frown. In the middle of the parkour the bars were a little higher, which is why Ileen had to pull herself up a bit to reach them. Additionally, her hands slowly became slippery.
Nevertheless, she forced herself not to slow down. She knew she had to use the swing of her body out of the movement to make it easier.
And so she managed to swing through the next bars like a little monkey and came to the floor with a relieved sigh. Her palms and shoulders burned, but she didn't let it show. When she reached Dee, she pulled the rag out of her pocket and gave it to her. “Please make sure you complete the obstacle or I'll have to kill you afterwards. My hands and shoulders are dying.” Her words were only meant for Dee, so she whispered them hastily before she took a step back.

Somehow, Dee felt like she had missed something. What was happening? One second, they were arguing, and then suddenly, Ersa was running - after spewing a bunch of nonsense, of course.
Dealla could not remember saying that the other girl wasn't allowed to warm up, and when had she ever implied that Ersa needed to straight up run at the hurdles immediately? They had probably cut line in front of a bunch of other teams waiting to do the relay (not that Dee had paid enough attention to the other teams to know this for sure. It was just a guess.)
Granted, Dee had been aiming to rile Ersa up, but she hadn't expected it to work this well. She had just pointed out that it would be boring to watch her practice on the hurdles while other people were waiting. She was not an expert by any means, but... wasn't a warm up usually something like stretching? Maybe jogging a bit to get your muscles warm and loose? She also couldn't see how the danger of pulling a muscle was lower if you did them without being timed but still not having warmed up beforehand.

Dealla used the time while Ersa was running to tie back her hair. All of this was a stupid idea - she wasn't dressed to participate in a race! Thankfully this was free time so she wasn't wearing her school robes - wouldn't that have been fun - but she was still in jeans and a knit jumper that suited the warm but not overly hot spring weather. She shouldn't have let herself be goaded into this, but there was just no way she could back down now.

The Ravenclaw had to admit she was a little disappointed when Ersa completed the hurdle run without stumbling. Not that she had actually wanted Ersa to break something - but a little stumble to get her off her high horse, yep, that would have been nice. Now she didn't have a choice but to do her best as well, because no way she was going to let that stuck-up, holier-than-thou Snake beat her.
She looked down at her feet for a second. Even her shoes were unsuitable for this. While they were sneakers, she knew from experience that they offered very little grip. She contemplated taking them off - surely, climbing barefoot would work better - but then Ileen swung herself past the last few bars with admirable dexterity, and Dee was out of time.

Dealla gave Ileen a tight smile while she stuffed the rag into the pocket of her incredibly non-stretchable trousers, then put her hands on the rope net, a bit above head level.
It wasn't pulled taut, so when she stepped into the lower ropes, the net swung forward, bringing her into a weird, overhanging position, that immediately pulled on her shoulders.
Gritting her teeth, Dee started climbing, and quickly noticed that she had underestimated the difficulty of this. Being constantly tilted backwards required a lot more core strength than this skinny eleven year old had, but she forced herself upwards, always keeping three contact points with the net while she moved a hand or a foot.

She made reasonably fast progress, all things considered, and was inwardly already celebrating as she neared the top of the net - Take that, Ersa! - when of course, the worst happened.
The tip of her foot caught on the rope when she tried to raise it, shaking the net unexpectedly. She didn't place it properly in her haste to have four safe contact points again. Her heel slipped, her shoe lost grip, and, with a very loud, very undignified squawk, Dee fell.
Thankfully, her foot had slipped through the net instead of just off it, so she didn't fall very far, but the sudden impact on her arms had caused one of her hands to slip, and now... she was hanging there. Her left leg was caught in the rope net up to her thigh, her right arm stretched above her head, holding on for dear life, her right foot had somehow managed to get tangled between the ropes as well, and all in all, she made for a rather pitiful picture.

Dee could already imagine Ersa laughing at her. Blood rushed up to her cheeks as the humiliation of the situation flooded her.
This sucked.

Rosalind was standing at the sidelines, watching the girls' progress - she had to admit, she was impressed. The professor had been ready to jeer at the girls' attempt after she had spotted them watching from the sidelines, laughing at the others' mistakes. But the girls had a pretty perfect run going, and Professor Kibitzer had even put her whistle into her mouth, ready to blow it and stop the time when Dealla made it over the top.

But karma cut her off in the nick of time. The girl went red as a tomato as she upturned, her leg stuck through the net. Ouch, that looked like it hurt. Beating the other girls to the punch, Professor Kibitzer laughed at Dealla's plight, smiling as she watched the girl stuck in the net. She glanced back over her shoulder, looking at @Hjørdis Jensen. "Look, Jensen - we caught a live one!" she teased, looking over the length of the net. "You can still beat the slowpokes, just look at what you're doing and get your legs out of there."

The professor looked up the line, where the girl's partners were standing, and gestured to the struggling Dealla. "Well, go on!" she said, lifting a hand up to block her eyes. "It's not breakin' the rules if I can't see it. Get that girl out of that net."

A little worried, Ileen watched as Dee stormed off to climb the rope net. She didn't bother to look around to see if Ersa was watching them. Ileen just didn’t care. Now, after the adrenalin had left her body, she was even more annoyed that she had let herself be provoked so easily.
She was convinced that the only thing that had made her manage the obstacle was her anger towards the other Slytherin girl. Not that she would ever admit that!
Now she just hoped that Dee would be able to master the rope net. It actually looked pretty good. Her friend climbed up the netting determined and safe, even though her clothes were very impractical.
And then, when she was almost at the top, Dee slipped. Ileen's heart leaped and she gasped in horror as the Ravenclaw fell and caught her leg in the net. That must have hurt pretty bad. But at least she hadn't fallen to the floor.

In contrast to Professor Kibitzer, who stopped her time, Ileen found it difficult to take the situation with humour. Probably a sarcastic comment would have escaped her in other circumstances, but she was much too scared for that. She was relieved, however, when she was allowed to help Dee. Even though she wasn't quite sure how much support she could give. Probably moral support was the best she could do.
She ignored Ersa and ran to the rope net. With her teeth clenched, she grabbed the net and tried to stabilize it from the ground so Dee could free herself. "Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"

Well - that was that, there was no way Dee was going to take Divination in her third year now. Every time she would have to sit in that classroom and look at Professor Kibitzer, she would be reminded of the Professor laughing at her, of the humiliation of the situation. She was sure this was going to haunt her forever.

Her heart was still beating out of her chest from the shock of the fall, but Dealla was not going to keep hanging here and wait for someone to save her! And the fact that Professor Kibitzer apparently thought she needed the help made her even more determined to prove her wrong. Dee was not some useless damsel needing to be saved, she was a Ravenclaw, she could think under pressure!
"I'm good," she called back down to Ileen, moved by her friend's worry despite it all, before she started helping herself.

First, she gripped the rope net again with her left hand, the one that had lost hold during the short fall. Tensing her muscles so she wouldn't slip even further, she then moved her right hand that had been carrying most of her weight for the past few seconds a bit down so her arm wasn't completely stretched out. That already felt better.
Next, Dee carefully freed her tangled right foot from the net, and placed it on the net next to where her thigh was still stuck in one of the holes, and used that leverage to carefully push herself upwards, pulling her leg from the ropes. There.

Finally free again, Dee resolutely refused to look at any of the bystanders, and pushed herself to finish the last of the obstacle in record time. Damn her if she was going to let this little mishap make her the slowest one to complete this obstacle.
It was easier higher up, the net had less give, so she didn't have any more troubles either, and it only took a few seconds until she finally swung her leg over the top of the obstacle.
Breathing hard, she took a moment to inspect the damage the net had done to her. There were some scrapes on her right arm where it had rubbed against the net, and she was almost sure there would be some bruising on her left thigh tomorrow, but that seemed to be the worst of it.

Gritting her teeth and bracing herself for the confrontation, Dee set off downwards.

Rosalind politely averted her eyes from the non-traditional relay race techniques occurring ahead of her, instead choosing to count the blades of grass and smirk to herself about the display of athletic prowess she had just witnessed. When Miss Prince called out that hse was good, Rosalind returned to observing, the clock ticking away in her hand as she watched the struggling Ravenclaw free herself and start pushing up the net again. She lifted her eyebrows. Impressive work. "Well done," she said, with an approving nod.

Scrapes and bruises were no cause for concern to Rosalind Kibitzer. Kids were durable - you could throw worse than this at 'em and they'd come out of it just fine. The young lady made it over the obstacle just fine anyhow - if she were really hurt, they'd be on their way to the hospital wing right now, she hoped. Either that, or the kid pulled something out of line, and this was the last bit of adrenaline she has before she falls unconscious. Rosalind hoped she would finish the task before doing that, so that she'd have a time to write down and less paperwork to take care of.

"She's fine," the professor informed Ileen, brushing off her concern for her companion with a piece of terse reassurance. She could see as much for herself as Dealla descended the net, the professor waiting for the girl to get both feet on the ground so she could stop the timer. "Almost there, c'mon!"

As soon as Ileen realized Dee were not in danger, a soft giggle escaped her in a mixture of amusement and relieve – even though she was still a bit concerned that her friend had hurt herself.
It didn't look like it, though. Impressed, the young Slytherin watched as her friend freed herself from the net on her own and continued her way up. She was so proud of Dee! Ambitious she was for sure. Really, a great loss for Slytherin, she thought a bit wistfully. In this case, it probably was better like that. Otherwise Ersa and Dee would murder each other sooner or later. Like this, there were at two to three doors between them.

When Dee reached the top and made her way down, Ileen carefully moved her fingers. Gradually the adrenaline disappeared from her body and she felt her muscles complaining about the unusual effort - now, after most of her anger had fizzled out, she thought back to her performance at the monkey bars and couldn't help but be proud of herself. She had almost forgotten how much fun it could be to climb. She was itching to try the net rope as well.
But now wasn’t a good time. She focused back on the little Ravenclaw girl and frowned. Hopefully, she wasn’t hurt. And pushing herself too much.
When Professor Kibitzer assured her that Dee was fine, Ileen straightened up, put her hands on her hips and grinned confidently at the adult. “Sure she is! She’s doing great!” Her eyes sparkled and she was sure that the relief could easily be read from them. “Come on Dee! You are almost there!” She cheered at her friend and bounced up and down on the ball of her foot. Ha! They had shown what they were capable of.

The rest of the climb downwards went without a hitch, and Dee let herself drop down the last meter to the ground to save some time, absorbing the impact by bending her knees.
The embarrassment was still burning in her cheeks, but she straightened up, smoothed the stray strands of hair that had come loose from her ponytail out of her face, and lifted her chin. The scrapes on her arm were burning slightly, and her thigh was throbbing, but she could ignore that for now.
Despite everything, Dealla would do her best to leave this place with the sad remains of her dignity intact.

Taking care to not even throw the slightest glance into Ersa's direction - she could just imagine the joy the girl must be feeling at Dealla's humiliation - she gave a tense smile to Ileen before doing her very best to meet the eyes of the professor who had taken their time.
She managed about half a second before she chose to focus on her chin instead. It was easier that way.

"I'm sorry about barging into the race like that, Professor Kibitzer," Dee said, proud that her voice didn't waver, but very stiffly in comparison to her usual exuberance. "We weren't actually planning to join, it was... a spontaneous decision. I hope we didn't do too badly." She hoped no one would mention this incident again. Ever. "Have a good day!"

And with that, she rather abruptly turned around, took Ileen by the elbow to drag her along if she had to, and stalked off, chin held high and ponytail swinging.
