Getting closer to her ambitions to know her family. Why wouldn't they want to tell her? It was important was it? For someone to know their heritage and background? Now she was short on that, unfortunately what seemed like commonplace for people to know was not natural for her. Of course she was aware being told she was Dhampir with vampire roots, but yet something was missing she had questions to be answered still, that would not rest. Can she not know more about her other family? Or maybe her entire family? Not knowing her relatives was very strange to her too. She'd envy those who were confident on their own family, those who were just muggle, or pure. But half? Having two worlds to turn your own head around is exhausting, bonus if you've only known one side for your whole life. Now maybe not envy but proud was the better word. They know and don't hesitate to answer any questions about themselves. "Where are you from?" "Do you have relatives?" "Do you visit them often?" those questions stumped her all the time. She never met her relatives from both sides.
Did her parents want to shield her from something she'd have to hear from them in the years to come? Putting her mind aside she strolled along the bathroom stalls. When she found one open she decided to retouch on her makeup, only applying lip gloss to make her lips shine. Fixing her hair so it would not become untamed. Straightening her uniform so it'd look decent and adding a gold pin to hold her side bangs in place. One day she might meet her own family, knowing the Dayes name, just as she was about to be lost in her own head however, a presence entered the space.

Though inherently a social being, Livia much preferred entering the lavatory in solitude, even if it was only to ready herself for her day. That individuals other than her beloved cousin might see her hair matted from sleep or her face puffy with remnants of dreams irked her. She understood that such things were symptoms of her humanity, but that, unfortunately, hardly bettered the situation. Today, she did not intend to ready herself for anything in particular; no, she had already dressed herself to perfection during the hours of the morning. Since well before breakfast, Livia's long, dark hair had been pulled back into an elegant, but practical, chignon. She was nothing if not a creature of routine, after all.
Thus, her entry into the space now, of all times, was unusual. During the recent spring ball, she had felt... uneasy. She lacked the true words with which to describe the sentiment that had ailed her, but she did understand the cause of it. So many of the other girls in attendance had sported colourful eye shadow, blush, lipstick or lip gloss, all things with which Livia had no experience. She had not deigned to write a letter to her mother asking for advice, as she feared it would be met with no response, or, worse, a response holding an undertone of contempt. No, if she meant to understand how girls were to make themselves over, she would have to partake in the endeavour alone.
Wordlessly, Livia hefted open the door to the lavatory. She entered with pristine posture and a blank gaze, the only thing betraying her intentions being a small bag in her hand. It was nondescript – black leather, no charms or embellishments to speak of. The bottoms of her boots clicked gently against the solid floors of the room as she swiftly swept towards the mirrors.
She would do her best to stifle her irritation at the appearance of another girl. Given the girl's height and appearance, she appeared around Livia's age, which did not bode well, as Livia had found that numerous first-years were incredibly boisterous. At first, then, she merely observed the girl, who would likely feel a distinct sense of being watched. Should she turn to eye Livia, she would be met by a tall, willowy figure with an intense, though largely blank, green stare.
Unfortunately, it took Livia a moment to realise the girl was applying makeup. She did her best not to portray interest, which, given her generally-empty gaze and neutral expression, was not difficult. However, as staring was impolite, she slowly averted her gaze and found her own spot at a sink at the mirror. Only then did she recall that, truly, she lacked instruction on what to do, and her supplies, though expensive and brand-new, were largely natural in appearance. No, she did not know how to be stunning.
Perhaps she did not wish to be.
She set the bag to her side and went about washing her hands. The movements were compulsive, as if her brain were a puppeteer to the marionette of her body. Sink. Water. Warm. Soap. Lather. Scrub. Scrub. Scrub. Scrub. Scrub. Scrub –
She halted the excessive scrubbing, noting that the backs of her knuckles had become red. This intrigued her, but she rinsed off the lather and set her jaw, finally returning her gaze to the other girl. Her voice – low, warm, with a hint of a rasp – would echo about the chamber as she finally spoke. 'Your lip gloss – I must admit, it is quite lovely. From where did you acquire it?'

The girl with a big presence did caught her off guard, but she was unfazed it was to be said that Angel was not so scared of people no matter how scary although one does not know when the line will cross if she will be scared of someone one day. Quiet and yes a striking one. The girl reminded her of a puppet. Did that say something or perhaps piqued her intuition? No, not even her knows. It was chilly in the lavatory but Angel did not mind she love the cold.
Oh but the shade did well! Checking the rest of her face it seemed well put now. Knowing how to present one's self is always her own note. Angel however desired to be natural so pretty much only her lips was covered. It added a more deep shade of red then what her lips were already. Gracefully wrapping her neck with the Dayes family heirloom, a locket neckless. Gold and quite ornate. Resembling of the heart it would appear to be swirled in pattern. It did show what the Dayes uphold. Heart.
The girl seemed to be scrubbing motionless, trying to bypass time and consequently did leave a mark. Angel intrigued by the way the girl acted. Paying no mind she probably just scrubbed too hard. But again all eyes were on her once the willow girl had her gaze to her lipgloss.
"Your lip gloss – I must admit, it is quite lovely. From where did you acquire it?" the girl asked or pheraps marionette it did fit her quite well.
Angel turning her own head towards her, she smiled warmly but reserved she placed her hands together slightly not rushed. Poised she spoke eloquently and it resonated through the halls much like a melody.
"Ah, this? This is from the Philippines, Lacet is the brand, or in English I would say it would be just Lace." holding the item from her hands which was shown to be delicate.
Angel speaking of looks was described to be pretty or so she'd seen and heard. Her coated deep auburn eyes reflected smoothly with one dreamy like hers. The hair dark and refined like a raven and obsidian. Her most prominent features were her lips painted with blood maple and her own skin was pale or maybe to the others paper white. Natural light rose blush complimented her entire face but the silhouette in which she carried gave people a frightening look in their own eyes.
Not admiring or admitting on how well she carried herself despite being from a countryside in Caerphilly. Being from the Valleys which one would not consider high status or profile. Angel however did not mind the way she carried herself after all she was her own person and wanted her best to be standing out from the rest. High status? If that was the fitting word for her demeanour.
“Angel, Angel Colette Dayes. Charmed.” she said with a smile cool and soft
One should know, Angel spoke with clarity always, no filler words nothing of the like. Her voice transcend from the light waters of the spring. With words always neatly placed and in line. With the way her tone carried it with meaning. Poised and yet casual. The Slytherin carried herself with grace. What a beautiful swan.
"I don't belong to anyone, but everybody knows my name"

It was rare that Livia actually articulated a question that had an answer about which she was truly curious, but this was a special day, it appeared. There were times when she asked questions to feign interest – it appeared that such behaviour and 'small talk' were considered polite – but times like this, where, upon receiving a response, Livia nodded and remained somewhat interested, did not occur every day. The green-eyed girl did not respond immediately; instead, she let her piercing gaze slowly rake over the other child's features. The lip gloss gave her an almost ethereal appearance, and her features suggested imposition over a more public, neutral space. Her paper-white skin provided a lovely chiaroscuro to her dark hair, and Livia could not tell if she simply appreciated the other girl's aesthetic appearance — or, perhaps, if she wished to be like this strange being.
Of course, she could not voice her thoughts aloud. That would have been quite frivolous. 'Lace for a shade of red. It's not quite what one might expect, no?' The words were light, warm – Livia's voice often did not reflect her neutrality, as it warmth naturally seeped into it. It would sound as if she were simply stating a fact, not alluding to irony. This, she did not mind.
The girl introduced herself before Livia could ask her name. Angel Colette Dayes. She could not entirely place the girl's accent. She would have supposed Welsh, if only vaguely, but peppered with something else. Livia herself had wrought her words into fine received pronunciation; only the slightest hints of Russian- or Georgian-accented words could be heard when she referenced place names or her family. Livia's lips slowly stretched into a smile, though it did not meet her eyes. She did not reveal teeth between rosy lips. 'Livia Cassia Victoria Machavariani.' If they were to divulge full names, so would it be. 'Truly, it is a pleasure.'
Given that they both stood in the lavatory, she did not necessarily wish to linger. Toilets were hardly sanitary, and the sinks were not much better. However, if Angel were to continue with her makeup routine, Livia would continue to watch, intrigued. 'Who taught you the art of makeup?'

Pinning her own hair in a unadorned sleek bun. It was her own stylistic choice for her to prefer a chic and minimalistic style. The girl who was rather reserved, had commented on the brand, a Lace for a shade of red, quite unsought for. She overheard her voice whilst she was dousing her hands. When she dried them swiftly she turned her head quietly as her head slant slightly to the right. This girl was looking more curious by the second. However, this did not startle Angel, not one bit.
"Yes, I do agree that it is quite unusual, don't you think?" she says her voice dropped an octave that was grave and elegant
The other Slytherin, was herself classy and cool like. Just like the others in their house. That was a adversity she found herself. The girl had something more to her, robotic. No it didn't creeped her out but rather it confused her greatly. Was the girl herself really classy? Now she can't speak for herself yet, she knows when someone makes a faux persona or a identity that was not theirs. That was a dilemma for another time. Introductions were taking place and she had lost that thought just a minute ago. She could go back and stop being aloof. It would help her tremendously.
When she finished her piece, the marionette was taken aback by her words. Was it her tone or voice? Perchance it was her pronunciations. No, it was her accent. Suave and cadence. A mix of welsh, filipino and french all mixed together. It was common for people to wonder how well she spoke, she's a spokesperson and a eloquent speaker. Some even claim romanian.
The girl, she calls herself Livia.
"I'm impressed by your name, in my family long names are quite once in a blue moon." she remarked
"Charmed to meet you, Livia." she said calmly
"Do you fancy nicknames? Livié sounds quite elegant." it sounded more like a question that perked up slowly
Yes, in her family names were staccato or pungent. It reflected on how the Dayes preferred their names to be. With high class. Prosody, the Dayes were also renowned for their voice and how pleasing their tone is. Like a melody unsound from anywhere.
Angel approved when she transferred her words in the air. The appellations were airy yet cool. Like the spring waters. Her words carried itself with a incisive way it was almost harsh though sometimes her voice might sound caustic at best. Her parents frowned at the way her voice was, people saw her as a ice queen. Someone who is cold and brash. Angel only laughed and found it amusing, people keep themselves busy in other ways that was unexpected. Now, she checked her sharp nails, yet the nails were already sharp from birth. Claws. The interviewer had said something about the qualities she possessed at her age. Claws, fangs, aversion to sunlight, and a magical menace.
She painted them dark red. Nail polish was her only attempt at nail art. She fancied arts and always had been. Mother had said to her she can't have fake nails, and with her makeshift sharp claws she can make it work by making it seem like it is. But would that scare the people even more? A natural feature. Almost too good to be true. That was what she thought. But she can still shorten them, but cutting them will only make them dull. Filing them was a much safer choice. Her father is a vampire, correction a Dhampir himself, he posses all abilities up to date. Heightened smell and can make a blood thrall. Now that was quite uncanny isn't it? Who knows if her own blood can bring someone alive, she preferred the muggle life instead of the "pureblood" life he was raised in.
To be dismayed she overheard from her mother that his parents are not that intrigued about his choice. Fearing that she might have her senses dulled. She can still smell blood anytime, but she can not smell a presence or sniff someone out through an invisibility cloak. Much more inefficient than her father's. She looked over at the girl. She almost could pass as a Dhampir herself, yet the keen detail was their eyes and skin. Her's was much more nougat, less eerie or usually pale like hers. Now her eyes were forest green, viridescent or viriscent, emerald oh it hardly matters. Most people from Vampire descent had red scarlet eyes, or for Angel auburn, maybe onyx like. Their eyes were sharp and harsh. Unfortunately for her she inherit that trait of her father's side. Now that begs the question, did Livia herself have a fancy history for a family?A question came up from Livia's choice of dialogue.
"Who taught you the art of makeup?" Livia asked which ranged through the echoed stalls
"Self taught. However my cousin Vasya gave me suggestions and she much prefered if my features stood out rather than making it softer." she remarked
She never visits her cousins but rather they visited her. They all were traditional in a sense of presenting themselves like they were a person of Vampire lineage, all her cousins were confident. The Dayes were. They acted like purebloods. Who can say the same for her? Only then did she pierced her eyes at the very thought.

Slowly, Livia lifted an eyebrow. Surely, 'not what one would expect' meant something was unusual. The 'don't you think' was almost redundant, but, not wanting to discontent the other girl, Livia bobbed her chin upwards in a halfhearted nod, allowing her expression to neutralise. She similarly nodded when the girl stated that long names were rare in her family. That did not divulge much of Angel's background, but that the girl said she was 'impressed' amused Livia. The edges of her lips curved upwards just slightly as an acknowledgement of the sentiment. 'Yes, it truly is a pleasure.,' she said in response to the word charmed, though Livia's words would sound much like a recitation rather than something independently produced.
Then, her irises travelled to the mirror, where her reflection rolled its shoulders back. The gentle tug of a necessary stretch pulled between her neck and shoulder blades, and Livia lifted her hands, lacing her fingers together and pushing her palms forward. The same feeling tugged at her forearms. Finally, she returned to giving Angel her attention – a good thing, as the raven-haired girl had spoken once again.
Diminutives were not things with which Livia was unfamiliar. From Lisichka, 'Little Fox', from her grandfather, to the more neutral Livushka, Livenka and Livochka from other members of her family, she had taken to collecting the affectionate forms of names as little trinkets made of letters and phonological approximations. That a nickname – as Angel had dubbed it – came from someone she did not know well brought with it two possibilities. She was reminded somewhat of her opponent Marie and how an offered nickname had become a form of derision; however, Angel carried herself with far more class than Marie, and Livia did not anticipate such poor behaviour from her. That did not mean she would not carry herself with caution, but she would meet the other girl's gaze and nod. 'I suppose it is nice. Thank you.'
The words, which were flat although imbued with natural warmth, were genuine, although it was unlikely that Angel would be able to the difference between that and inauthenticity. She considered offering a diminutive of her own, pursing her lips in slight hesitation before putting forth her proposition: 'If you do not mind it, I could call you Zhelya.' The zh would sound like the G in Angel's name, though just a bit harsher, as if she had taken the second half of the name and added a small flourish at the end. In truth, she had considered what might be an acceptable diminutive in Russian. Angie was what had come to mind first, but she had not truly liked it.
When Angel stated she was self-taught, Livia's eyebrows raised, a visual admission of satisfaction. 'I see,' Livia said slowly, taking note of how Angel's words held true – the additions to her face did not dull her features, but they made her eyes and lips more noticeable. Livia did not know how normal that was in terms of fashion, but she would have to be lying if she had said it did not look lovely. 'Your Vasya was correct.'
The last words Angel said were quite lost to Livia. At first, the girl thought she had missed something by virtue of not listening enough, but after a few seconds of processing, she realised it had been said in another language. 'Ah, my apologies. I am afraid I do not speak...' She paused, half ready to name the language, before she hesitated. No, she could not recognise it, not with any degree of useful specificity. '...that language. Would you mind translating?'

"Forgive my way of speaking. It has become a mannerism!" she laughed with her eyes squinting becoming akin to a feline.
The maiden had her gaze locked with Livia's proposition as if it took on a physical form. It had a nice ring to it certainly, the accent coated with it also added to the effect which was pleasant. Russian was it not? Most likely but that guess was only educated, she could be entirely wrong, plethora of families had a hot pot of cultures, including her own to list: Filipino, Romanian, and Russian as well but not to her closest, they were distant relatives, Romanian and Filipino were the most prominent to her immediate family. The emerald eyed lass would know the Russian origins due to her cousin's name. Vasya Knyazeva.
"I do not mind at all." she offered with a tint of a fair smile
Her comment or rather compliment towards Livia's class and decorum, had not registered quite right but she was rather perplexed. Nodding to show assertiveness and advertency she would be rubbing her temples once she heard her confusion. The habit of speaking Tagalog to those who have no knowledge was something she tried to prevent frequently. Angel turned her body and pivoted her shoes so as to approach and have clarity.
"Oh, that would mean "You're quite classy" in Tagalog. It's an austronesian language." she informed her softly
Angel could not help stop her own thought of whether she had seen the girl or perhaps have stumbled upon her name once or twice in the common room. Perchance, but again she would have to confess she had not even heard or have seen her in passing. But her name remained resonant. It would've been sound if her best bet was definitely the Sorting Ceremony from before. Putting the pieces together, yes that would have made much more sense.
"I have seen you around the common room no?" she asked her not wanting to make immediate judgement, for they could have only seen each other in passing after all.
A sense of ice was sliced between them. Angel was somewhat cautious, it would be too foolish to ask any personal questions, much about family as far as she's concerned. Though it was not necessarily important or something notable she knew much to know, not everybody will be open arms towards your presence, this would be befitting in this particular case. Dancing in circles how sublime really, how very sublime. Sure that the sentiment was shared with Livia just the same.
