Waiting to Meet You PV Ruka Tân Closed

Dear Ruka,

How are you doing, dear? If you've been busy with school and school events, I'm sorry to bother you with this letter, but I can't help worrying. Jack doesn't tell us as much about himself as I would like, but at least his father and I know him well enough to glean what we need to from what little he says so we can get a good sense of when he's hiding something that's bothering him. What I worry about more is the fact that he might be hiding things about you from us. His father thinks he would only do so for your best interests, but since when does a boy like him know what's best for another boy about his age, especially one who's been through so much worse than he has?

One of the reasons I became especially worried was because Jack told us he didn't want to come home for Easter break, but he didn't say much about your opinion on it. I thought that maybe it might be cruel to introduce you to your new house and family for only two short weeks before sending you back to school, so I didn't argue with him, but I have to say I'm sorry we missed the chance to meet you. Todd - Jack's father - and I are still working very hard to get everything ready for your coming to live with us this summer, so maybe it's for the best that you don't see the house as messy as it is at the moment. Jack's father and I are also similarly in disarray, but we'll be sure to have everything in order and ready for you by the time school lets out!

Speaking of disarray, Jack had been sending us frantic notes asking us to help mail him a great deal of flowers in time for a proposal to invite a girl to a 'Blossom Ball'? He hasn't yet told us how that turned out, so I wondered if you knew. I sent him a corsage and boutonniere for him and his date, but we were so busy getting sunflowers and purple flowers of all kinds together that I forgot to ask you if you were going to the same ball and might have had a date as well! I also thought it might be prying into your business a little too much, especially for someone who hasn't even had the honor to meet you yet.

Regardless, Ruka, I'm really sorry I didn't send a letter about all this to you sooner. I'm so swamped with e-mails and text messages from clients that hand-written letters, charming as they are, are still a novelty that I forget are an option to communicate with you boys from time to time. I still have your sweet letter asking about Jack's birthday and I hope that went well, too. In any case, it doesn't matter when your own birthday is, since Jack mentioned you might not know it. We'll make sure to have the best birthday ever once you come over during the summer, so please have a list of what you'd like for it and who you want to invite! Don't ever hesitate to letter Todd or I. We really can't wait to meet you and it's always a pleasure to hear from you.

Lots of Love,

Ffion Burnett

P.S. - I know it's probably a bit too soon to ask this of you, but whenever you feel comfortable, please feel free to call me mum, mom, mother, ma, or any varient you feel most comfortable with! The same goes for Todd. ;) Though...perhaps you might feel more comfortable referring to him as dad, da, father, or something similar. Whatever you choose, I'm sure we'll be happy to respond to it.

Dear Mu Mrs Burnett,

Thank you so much for your letter, I can't express how happy it makes me to hear from you. I don't usually receive any letters so when this one was delivered to me at breakfast it made my day! I'm very sorry you needed to wait a few days for my response; With the school year slowly coming to an end classes feel busier than ever. All of us can feel the pressure of exam season right ahead of us, I believe.

I genuinely regret not having gotten the chance to meet both of you during Easter Holidays, but I don't believe Jack's reasons for wanting to stay at Hogwarts had anything to do with him hiding something. I must admit we have not been talking as much this month as we have both been quite busy, so there is a chance, of course, that I missed something, but I don't think there is any reason for you to worry. I believe Jack is fully capable of taking care of himself. Mostly at least.
Personally, I have genuinely forgotten about the possibility of doing anything but staying at the castle over the holidays. It's what I did last year so I didn't question doing the same this year as well.

As you said, though, maybe it was for the best. I wouldn't have wanted to put any pressure on you to get things in order for my sake. I am grateful enough already to be allowed to stay with your family during the summer, it's more than I could possibly ask for!

As for the Ball, I did attend as well but I only went there with a school mate so I would not have needed anything anyway. I still really appreciate the thought!
Jack's date, as far as I'm aware, went relatively well in comparison to the rest of the Ball. You probably know what school events can be like sometimes; It seems almost surprising when everyone comes out alive. People did have fun throughout most of it though, I think. Things did turn a little straining towards the end so I believe everyone was just happy to get back into bed by the end of the night.
I know I was, at least.

I really appreciate the thought about my birthday, but please do not worry too much about it. Both of you, and Jack, already do more for me than I could ever ask for. I am still so grateful for all the clothes, and the fire retardant outfits you sent Jack and I for the Talent Show! It has been feeling like my birthday every day since I met Jack. There's nothing else I could possibly ask for for my birthday, I promise.
Admittedly, I still - or maybe even more so the closer it gets - feel very nervous to be staying with you. Jack has assured me I won't be any trouble but I am worried I might be a burden somehow. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you and your family out with anything in any way; with everything you are doing for me I just want to at least be able to do something for you in return to really express my gratitude.

Thank you so much again for taking the time out of your surely busy day to write to me!

I hope both you and Mr Burnett are well and I am really looking forward to meeting you both very soon. Please never feel like you are prying or overstepping boundaries when sending me a letter, I am always so excited to hear from you, whether through Jack or personally.

Much Love,
Wishing you all the best,

Ruka
