Sound of the Water

"Awesome! Let's go and eat" Hex agreed, following Haeli into the castle. As she turned to look back at the lake, she was mesmerised by the water, the still inky black didn't seem to reflect any light from it, instead seeming to suck it in and hold it captive.

"Good choices!" she responded to Haeli's favourite Hunger Games character with a laugh, "I always liked Finnick myself." she enjoyed seeing how excited her friend got at the mention of the series and silently reminded herself to introduce her to Damaris, the two would get on very well. She was so excited to be able to get to know Haeli a bit more, all after a chance meeting by the lake! Her brother had said it took time to make friends but Hex couldn't disagree more. She thought it was easy.

She pulled the sleeves of her jumper further down, covering her hands, and followed her new friend into the castle, the lights of students and staff shining through windows and crevices. She might not have been able to go for a swim, but she had made a new friend and for Hex, that was a successful weekend complete. She was excited to see what would come next.
