Career Day Adults Sign-up

Premise

Hogwarts has invited graduates and members of the wider magical community to spend an afternoon speaking with current students about life after graduation.

• Some demonstrations are educational.
• Some are entertaining.
• Some are downright dangerous.

Students are encouraged to wander the castle and grounds, ask questions, and observe professions they may one day pursue themselves.

How to Participate

For Adult Characters

Create a thread on Hogwarts grounds or within the castle in which your character showcases their profession to one or more students. This would take place on June 20 in-character, the protective wards around the school would be briefly lowered to allow entry. Many of the adults who participate in this activity stay at Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade for the weekend if they are only visiting the area.

Showcase Examples include:

• A Healer demonstrating basic triage or explaining magical medicine.
• A Cursebreaker displaying recovered artifacts and discussing expedition safety.
• A Wandmaker explaining wand construction.
• A Ministry employee describing their department's responsibilities.
• A Dragonologist presenting photographs, scales, or stories from a preserve.
• A Shopkeeper demonstrating enchanted merchandise.
• A Performer giving an impromptu concert or acting lesson.
• An Auror discussing investigative work or defensive magic.
• A Potioneer showing harmless brewing techniques.
• A Quidditch player signing autographs and discussing professional sports.

Creativity is encouraged, but demonstrations should remain appropriate for a school environment.

For Student Characters

Attend one or more demonstrations and interact with the presenter.

Students might:

• Ask questions about the career.
• Volunteer for a demonstration.
• Try a supervised activity.
• Be inspired toward a future profession.
• Leave deciding that career is definitely not for you.

Rewards

Adults who complete an approved Career Day thread may count it towards their job-related roleplay for their annual advancement requirement, provided the interaction meaningfully reflects their profession and responsibilities. Further, they receive 1 galleon for creating a thread and 1 more if they actually answer or interface with players

Students receive 10 sickles per Career Day thread they join and post at least 200 words in and may use the experience to shape their character's future aspirations.
