It was a breezy Spring afternoon at Hogwarts. Josh had just left Charms, with no homework assignments to complete. He always checked his timetable after a class, as he had never found the time or interest to remember his weekly timetable. As he walked down the corridor that lead away from the Charms classroom, he realized that he now had a free period. Free periods were not that rare as a first year, and he usually spent them reviewing topics he had already learned in class, or reading advanced books in the library as he had already read all his textbooks at least twice over the summer before Hogwarts. Earlier in the week however, he had received a bad grade on his Herbology homework assignment (He always scraped a pass without really trying) and one thing Josh did not like was failing. He enjoyed Herbology as he found magical plants very interesting (He found anything that was magical interesting), but he tended to neglect it along with Astronomy unintentionally. So he decided to spend his free period in the greenhouse, to study the plants more in depth. After a long walk, he arrived in the greenhouse, which was empty and much warmer than outside. The greenhouse was perhaps the most enchanting place in the castle; plants grew in every direction, some plants had fangs, some plants could move around all on their own, and some plants could change color. He settled at a workbench, and spent maybe five minutes looking around at all the plants in admiration, and identified as many as he could with his workbook. He was inspecting a bush-like plant he identified as Flutterby, when a girl walked into the Greenhouse.

Walking into the greenhouse brought back memories of when she was in kindergarten and there was a greenhouse she would always go to. It was always humid and sticky in the air. On a cold winter’s day, it would be wonderful, but today a hot day when school was almost out, it was sticky and annoying.
Thing is, earlier grace thought she saw a bowtruckle, and she had heard the second years were working with mandrakes in herbology right now. But on the way to there, her pet ferret bandit had been in her robes pocket sitting comfortably and enjoying the view.
When Bandit saw the bowtruckle, she went off chasing it. Grace urgently needed to find her pet, but she knew that if she chased bandit, she would only run away.
Stealth was Grace’s friend. So, she walked calmly into the greenhouse, her eyes darting around looking for clues as to Bandit’s whereabouts. She walked past the rows of planting boxes, filled with all sorts of col and interesting magical plants.
The deeper in the greenhouse she went, the sweatier she got. In the fall and winter, she often wore her hogwarts jumper, but in the spring, she wore her plain white shirt and her uniform robes. Her long hair acted like built in head insulation. In the winter, it’s a good way of staying warm and keeping snow off your skin. But in the spring, it made your neck eel sticky and humid.
When she looked up from trying to find bandit, she saw a boy, who looked to be about her age, and was wearing ravenclaw robes.
“Hello, I’m Grace. Have you seen my ferret?”

[quote]Josh was always cautious about interacting with people he did not know properly, but the atmosphere of the greenhouse gave off a calming aura that placed his mind in a serene state. He noticed that this effect was not working the same way on her, as she seemed troubled and a bit sweaty."Hello, I'm Grace. Have you seen my ferret?" she spoke, sounding more composed than she looked. He looked underneath his workbench to see if her ferret was not hiding there, and then spoke,"Sorry, but I haven't" The greenhouses at Hogwarts were not like regular greenhouses, they were very big and expansive, and had a dozen plants for animals as small as ferrets to hide in. Josh knew this, and he also knew it could take a while to search the entire place."I can help you look if you'd like. I'm Josh by the way." He got up and began feeling around the Flutterby bush he was just inspecting, listening closely for movements in the plants around him. He didn't mind helping her look, as he would be able to study more plants from up close. He made sure to put on his protective gloves as he searched the other plants, as magical plants had many unique properties, some of which were considered dangerous to humans."What does your ferret look like?" he asked as he finished looking inside an empty flowerpot.

Grace was relived when this new boy decided to help her look for bandit. She knew that bandit would turn up eventually, though it was better sooner than later. Then, Grace was start,ed when she looked up, and had to contain her laughter.
“I think I found her. Don’t move.” Grace said. She had found her ferret, and it was crucial that the boy Grace was with DID NOT MOVE.
“It's helpful for you to tell me your name. Just be as still as possible” She said to the boy. “My ferret is a standard European ferret called Bandit. She also happens to sitting on top of your head.” Grace had found, very the years, that the pets that she had often loved to position themselves in unusual ways. She always took note of this in her “field journal” for Grace wanted to become a magizoologist just like newt Scamander one day. She wanted to help creatures, keep them safe, and help humans, -Wizards and muggles alike-understand creatures. Grace knew that many creatures feared for no reason. She also knew that the more you know, the harder it is to be afraid. Grace often got distracted in her own thoughts, and was even curious as to weather internal adhd is a thing. She had had chicken that perch on the top of the coop, dogs who sit with their butt on the ground and their paws on the sofa, and even a cat who curled up in their Christmas tree. But bandit was her first ferret, and she liked this choppy brown mattress.

"I think I found her, don't move." Josh was confused about why he shouldn't move, and turned around as slow as he could to look at her. "My ferret is a standard European ferret called Bandit. She also happens to be sitting on your head." For a second he thought it was a joke, but then he felt something scratch him on his head, and he remained very still. "Hang on, I have an idea." He slowly reached for the empty flower pot he was searching in from behind his back, not daring to turn around to grab it because movement would just cause her ferret to become scared and run. Once he felt the flowerpot, he firmly gripped it and pulled it in front of him, all his movements in slow motion. Once the pot was in both of his hands, he took a deep breath, and quickly put it over his head. He was sure that Bandit was still on his head when he felt something small rolling and kicking trapped under the pot. He removed the flowerpot from his head in a way that her ferret remained inside, and then handed her ferret back to her. "That's a clever ferret you have, and very sneaky." He neatened his now slightly messy hair and brushed off some soil that he got on himself from the flowerpot. "Nice to meet you Grace. You're in Hufflepuff aren't you?" He took notice of the hufflepuff uniform that she was wearing.

Grace is a total hugger, she hugs people to how her gratitude, she hugs to make people feel better, she hugs so people know she cares. It’s scientifically proven that you need at least 14 hugs a day. So, it’s obvious that grace really wanted to hug this new boy whom she didn’t even know the name of.
“Two things. One, what is your name? Two, can we be friends? And, -oh wait thats three-can i hug you? I’m really glad you could help me, I just so happen to hug in gratitude, but we’re complete strangers, aren’t we?” Another fact about Grace, she yaps. She doesn’t just insesintly talk, she yaps. Sh honestly thought her parents were going to make her do speech therapy because she talks so fast that she slurs her words together and cant pronounce thing very well, even when she tries multiple times. While she waited for the boy to reply, Grace looked down into her pocket and pulled out a ferret treat that her dad had bought for her and enchanted to taste like crazy things, like socks, pizza, chips, and apples. Nothing but the best for bandit! Grace reached into her pocket and pulled out a treat. She handed it off to the boy.
“Give this to Bandit”

It was a known fact by people close to Josh that he loves to help people, even people he does not know. It's in his nature to provide a helping hand to whomever in need. It is the right thing to do after all - lend help to those who need it. He expected that after he helped this girl named Grace, they would go on with whatever they were doing, probably not speaking to each other again unless they needed to. He could not have been more wrong after what she said next. "Two things. One, what is your name? Two, can we be friends? And, -oh wait that's three-can I hug you? I’m really glad you could help me, I just so happen to hug in gratitude, but we’re complete strangers, aren’t we?" She was very energetic, and strange - in a good way of course. Josh didn't expect such gratitude and thanks for helping her, he couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed. "Oh, uh, well like I said, my name is Josh. And sure, we can be friends." Josh was not so good with bonds and friendships despite being kind, he becomes very shy around people he hasn't met, and the amount of times he switched muggle primary schools before Hogwarts meant he couldn't fully open up to his classmates and make friends properly, so of course he was happy to have made a new friend so easily. "I'm happy I could help you, oh and your ferret is adorable." Josh wanted his very own pet every since he started attending Hogwarts. Seeing everyone else's pets made him realize that pets are lifelong friends that leave a mark, and the bonds they have with their owners are very special. He hoped that one day he would have his own pet - if his parents ever allowed him to get one. Grace then pulled a ferret treat out of her pocket, and handed it to him. “Give this to Bandit.” The treat smelled oddly like pizza, and Bandit ate it up as if it really did taste like a pizza. "I was just studying a few plants before you walked in. I used to think they were boring, but once you get into learning about them, they are very fascinating" He took his wand out of his pocket, and pointed it at the empty flowerpot. "Orchideous." A bouquet of flowers blossomed from the tip of his wand, and he placed them neatly inside the empty flowerpot he used to catch Bandit on his head."Do you like plants too?" He asked her, as he plucked a flower from the bouquet he conjured and took in it's lovely smelling aroma.

Grace felt kind of bad that she had asked so many questions but Josh seemed chill.
“You seem like a cat guy” she said. And then added, “yes, I find plants fascinating and I especially love flowers, they just embody the simple peace of nature”
Grace blushed. she hadn’t learned any plant spells yet, but she had gotten Os in herbology. Grace was especiallly excited for when she could take care of magical creatures. Back home, she could ride her horse Bonnie every day. Her family also had a big garden and about 20 chickens, with new additions to the flock with every fertilized egg.
The Hodgkins-Quinn family used everything that came from their animals and garden. Sometimes they used the chickens for meat, and they always ate used eggs for something. When she was only 5 years old, Grace’s parents showed her how they used a flashlight to see if there was any development in the eggs. They used muggle technology to incubate fertilized eggs and ate all others. For a girl so used to having animals and plants alsways around her, Grace’s parents showed felt kind of homesick. She wished first years were allowed to take care of magical creatures class. At least she had herbology.
