"But you did," Alina smiled in response to her friend, looking up from her notebook. She wouldn't go as far to actually say out loud that Rose had given her friendship because how Hufflepuff did that sound? "It's really not much. I'm still learning how to perfect my skill at the whole business but it's somewhat cute. Makes me think of both the keychain you had when we first got paired up in Charms and how you said you like knealzes."
That sort of gave away a large clue on what the package was before Rose even opened it but she couldn't help it. Alina was a talkative girl and had a way at blabbing things. Plus she wasn't so great at keeping surprises.
"So after you open it I want you to tell me something you think you might regret that you haven't done this school year yet, and guess what? We're going to do it. Or...at least attempt it," she thought about how her and Meredith Ready spent much of their first year trying to get into the Forbidden Forest but how that never actually happened. Still, there was fun in the journey of an adventure, even if one didn't reach their final destination.

Rose inwardly shook her head at the very large clue of what the present was. She delicately took the package from her friend and pulled on the ribbon, opening the package. She pulled out the kneazle, a look of joy and realization spreading over her face. "So that's why you asked me about my favorite magical thing," she said. "Thank you so much, that was so thoughtful of you." she turned the kneazle over in her hands, looking at it with a smile.
When Alina asked her what she regretted not doing, Rose tilted her head and thought for a moment. "I don't know..." She thought it over for a moment. Then, she said, "I would... I would have liked to be outside at night, see the stars, like you said you did." a little bit of a dreamy look came over her face as she thought about it. "But I don't know how we would do that. We would probably break a whole bunch of rules to do that, and I don't want to get you in trouble." Rose knew Alina probably didn't care if they did, but Rose would feel horrible if Alina got in trouble for Rose.

"We would break a whole bunch of rules," she affirmed, "but you wouldn't be getting me in trouble. I mean, if I went it would be of my own free will so I'd have gotten myself into trouble," she watched Rose, wondering if she'd really want to do it. Maybe. She was a Gryffindor. Gryffndors were the brave sort and often in classes were the ones getting in trouble.
"But that's all part of the adventure...possibly getting in trouble. If it's something you're really wanting to do, I'm up for it. Besides, Cliff and I didn't get in trouble when we did and the stars...." she didn't even know what to say about them at first.
"Rose, the Astronomy Tower is located just above the Entrance Hall...but up a ways, of course. It's such a central location that you wouldn't BELIEVE the view of the stars. And so many stars. I know they say space goes on forever but there, you really feel it. It's like the whole world is in front of you and you're so large and majestic, yet so small all the same time. I can't really explain it. You have to FEEL it."
"So what do you say?" she asked her curiously. "We can tonight. You in or don't think you want to just yet?"

Excitement and adrenaline bubbled up inside Rose as she realized this could actually be happening. "It sounds amazing," she remarked in awe after Alina had described what it was like up there on the tower. Alina could describe it all she wanted, but it would be so much more amazing to see it with her own eyes. After that, Alina had asked her carefully and respectfully, but basically, she said, "So are we gonna do this or you got cold feet?"
Rose is not the person to get cold feet.
Well, she is, but she won't show it. You'd never know.
Half of her told her to have an adventure: everyone needed one sometime. The other half told her to not do it. Not break the rules because you'd get detention. Or worse.
All of this flew through her mind in a second of thoughtful hesitation.
Rose nodded, her emerald eyes determined, and responded, "I'm in. Let's do it tonight." As she said it, she knew she might regret it. But it was worth the risk if she was going to see the stars here. Still, she had a sinking feeling in her gut that things wouldn't work out as Rose planned. I hoped.

Reducio
I think you accidentally tagged me in your broom/quidditch post. Might want to check that.
"Okay, so..." she moved to sit closer to Rose so they could talk without anyone hearing them, although everyone else out and about on the school grounds were busy doing their own thing anyway and she probably could have stayed where she was. Still, Alina Rosier was a girl for details.
"You'll want to wear dark clothing and bring a bag with you. Your wand, a snack, anything you think might be useful. There's the set of tables right outside the The Great Hall, just near the Entrance? Go towards them and then just to the left is a shadowy area. Meet me there."
"I find it works best to head to the Study Rooms and stay there until just about ten minutes until curfew. The rush will leave then and then after a few minutes, trail behind. The prefects won't start patrolling corridors until after curfew at which we will already be on our way to the more unused parts of the castle. Some other Hufflepuffs and I even discovered one of the hidden passageways!"
Okay, so she might have done this once or twice. Or often. Still, the thought of heading back up to the Astronomy Tower for a friend that wanted to see it was a mission she certainly wanted to take. "You're going to love the sight. I just know it!"

As Alina scooched closer and lowered her voice to give her the details, Rose leaned in toward her friend and listened as she explain in detail how, when, and where they would do this. Every few words, Rose would nod and say something like, "Mm-hm..." or "Okay..." Rose felt excitement crack and fizzle inside her and reached up to mess with the end of her braid. "Dark clothing, bag with stuff, Study Rooms, shadowy area near tables outside of the Great Hall- got it," she whispered to herself. "I can't wait!" she said softly.
A little voice inside her started to doubt this adventure. Rose, seriously? You're going to get in trouble and have detention and then mom will be disappointed and won't trust you anymore and-
She shook her head, burying those unsure thoughts of hesitation. She was doing this. There was always the threat and fear that she was going to get in trouble when she broke the rules, and this time, Rose told herself to be cautious but not overly obsessive over it. Alina had done this before and hadn't gotten in trouble. This time wouldn't be any different. She was a Gryffindor, supposed to be brave! This was her chance to prove it.

Not wanting to draw attention to possibly two girls going the same route, Alina avoided the Study Room near curfew and instead waited where she said by the Entrance Hall. It didn't even occur to her that Rose might decide not to come because she had been so excited for an adventure earlier that day.
Alina tugged at the side of her little black hat a little more and waited for sight or sound of her...or anyone. She was pretty sure though that most head of houses and prefects were ready to make sure that the Common Rooms and Dormitories were tidy first before they started roaming the corridors of the castle, which meant this was their window of opportunity.
She wondered what Rose would want to do...go around the castle itself or leave out to the grounds. She'd let her friend decide because she was up for any kind of adventure.
It was very quiet and there wasn't a person in sight. Alina started rifling through her bag for a lemon drop while she waited and after placing one in her mouth, she closed up her bag and thats when she heard a noise and froze. "...That you, Rose?" she whispered, knowing it would give away her cover if it wasn't.

Rose's heart raced, her breathing three times faster than usual. She was breaking the rules. Like, a lot of them. She took a deep breath to calm herself down and started on her way to her and Alina's agreed meeting place. She was wearing black leggings under a longer dark grey shirt and a dark denim jacket, a small dark bag hanging on her shoulder.
She crept silently through the deserted castle, every muscle in her lanky body achingly tensed, ready, and she was intently listening and watching for any movement or sound. She made no noise as she walked, which was a skill she developed when she was little, maybe seven or eight, from learning to eavesdrop on her parents and grandparents. She had learned a lot of things she didn't need to know, most of them involving how they didn't have enough money for stuff and her grandparents wanted to help. When she did eavesdrop, though, she and had only gotten caught once.
She arrived at the meeting place, not sure whether to call out or not. She decided not to, in case Alina wasn't there or had tried to get her in trouble. Instead, she slipped into the meeting place. Her shirt snagged on a splinter in one of the tables as she made her way into the dark space. Alina's voice called out and, after unsnagging herself, Rose went over and squatted next to her friend. "Yeah, it's me," she answered, her voice even sifter than usual. "What's the plan? I thought maybe we could go to the astronomy tower, since you said the view up there was beautiful. But if you have another better place, that's okay."

She was glad to hear Rose's voice. She had made it this far! No, no no. You want Astronomy Tower, we'll go to the Astronomy Tower! That meant going up, as the Astronomy Tower sat almost above them there at the Entrance Hall but much higher up and of course, being Hogwarts, there was no direct way of getting there.
"Okay, basics of sneaking around that I've found work so far..." she smiled thinking of some of her near encounters. "The darkened corridors are your friend, use the shadows. Stay low, stay quiet. When you need to, duck into an abandoned classroom or the like....and if all else fails, run." The last one reminded her of when Clifton Troublefield and herself replaced some of the trophies in the Trophy Room with some rather odd looking ones. It was a harmless prank, they made sure nothing was harmed and had put all the other trophies in a corner. Still, a prefect had to go spoil their fun and tell a professor. At one point they had the prefect and two professors at them, but a moving staircase saved them from detention. It was lots of fun!
She gave Rose a glance up and down and smiled, liking that she wore the dark clothing. That was going to help. "Just make sure to keep that beautiful red hair under the hood. That could potentially limit their search." But Hogwarts did have their fair share of redheads, but still it was far less common than Alina and her brunette self.
Checking the watch on her hand she felt it was safe to start their adventure and she gave a smile before motioning Rose to follow and they began to venture out into the corridor.

Rose knew about being sneaky. It was one of her specialties. But she hung on every word Alina said because any advice Alina could give her about this stuff would be good advice. Alina knew more than she did when it came to breaking rules and sneaking around the gigantic castle. A lot more. She had done this before. Rose knew Alina would know better than Rose did about a lot of things, and it was always better to get advice from an expert. Alina snuck a compliment about Rose's hair into one last reminder to keep her red hair in her hood. Rose had put her amber hair up in a messy, low ponytail earlier, which would keep any rebellious strands from escaping. She tugged on the edges of her hood, pulling it tighter over her head. "Mkay," she murmured. Rose followed Alina silently, sticking to the walls and looking over her shoulder frequently, just to make sure there wasn't any prefects or teachers there. She set her feet down gradually so she could make no noise as she walked. She pinpointed exit points and classrooms that would work for quick escapes. She made up different excuses for if they got caught, each more ridiculous as the one before. She was enjoying this- this sense of adrenaline and adventure. She had been needing this.
