A "Quiet" Place

One book stacked upon another, and another, and another. A multitude of books and yet not one seemed to help her with the basic understanding of Tranfigurations. There was absolutely no helpfuness in them unless she could take one of the books and toss them at her professor's head.
"UGH!" she shoved the books further away from her and tore off the piece of parchment she was writing on and crumbled it into a ball, tossing it over onto the tabletop beside her with a few other attempts at her assignment that had been rejected prior.
A few Ravenclaws looked at her for her outburst, some shushed her. "The library is a QUIET place," one even spoke up. Alina glared. "Then BE QUIET, yourself" she spat back. These Ravenclaws. THEY didn't know what it was like to not grasp the stupid mathematical concepts behind Transfigurations. Why couldn't they just say incantations and focus and all that jazz like Charms. She could do Charms. No, the Transfigurations professor wanted to punish her students and make their lives a living hell. Congratulations, Professor. It was working.
Alina got up and put the books away, giving up on Transfigurations for the day. It was only putting her in a bad mood and she wasn't getting anywhere anyway. Since she was already in the library, she grabbed a book in the Healing section and went back to her bag, popping a lemon drop in her mouth as she began to leaf through the pages.

A "Quiet" Place
Charles loved the library, well he loved any library. He felt safe in them. Surrounded by knowledge that can help you learn many things. Even how to defend yourself. And he loved being surrounded by people that would spend hours in the library. Kids like him that love the collection of knowledge. That can help them in so many ways. In a peaceful and quiet environment.
Most people say you should feel safe in a hospital. But people die in hospitals every day. Its a mix of both death and life. Balanced like Yin and Yang. But Charles only had bad memories in hospitals. Magic ones though. But still his worst memory happened in a hospital.
Charles was looking through the shelves. Not looking for a book to help him study. No he did that already. He was looking for something else. But he had no idea what section he would find it in. He just hoped it was available to read. If it was in the restricted section then his search would come to a halt. Then he hear sushing, he wondered who wold disrespect this quiet place by talking too loudly.
So he started to walk over. Then he saw her it was Olivia. That was her name right? Did he forget what her name was? Wait maybe her name was Ally? Charles groaned her name was on the tip of his tongue. He just couldn't rember. He grabbed a few books at random as he approached her. He waved when in her line of eyesight.
"Hi Alina." He said quietly. As he sat down on the opposite side of the table. Wait a minute he just said her name. Her name was Alina, he got it right!

She was turning another page when she heard her name and looked up to see the Slytherin boy who she met when trying to draw that impossible map of hers. "Charlie," she greeted him with a smile. She knew he had introduced himself as Charles but Charles was stuffy and formal...and the name of her father which she didn't particularly like.
It reminded her that she still needed to work on that map, that there was still a long way to go and much to be perfected on. She thought about some of her trips and how corridors completely seemed to change. That building, that castle - it confused her but she loved it as well.
"Good to see you again. Didn't think I'd see anyone in here I knew today. The place is particularly overrun by Ravenclaws today. PUSHY Ravenclaws," she raised her voice just slightly on the one word to annoy them. Them and their precious silence.
"So what've you got?" she looked down to the books in his hands. "What brings you here?" She got up and took the books from his hands and placed them on the table where she was, a nonverbal sort of invitation to join her. No one liked to be at the library alone. That was for losers.

Charles could not help but smile, when she made her comment about the Ravenclaws. Then he thought about what to say as he got up and sat down next to her.
"Well I don't really know what books I have. Im just grabbing every book I can find that talks about different races. Cause there a specific race I want to read about." Charles sighed. "But so far I have had no luck. I'm hoping that I can find it in one of these books." Charles shrugged.
"So thats why im here. And it's nice to see a familiar face in the library." Charles smiled. Then he realized he was talking too much. "What brings you here?" He picked up one of the books he took from the shelf and started to look through its TOC.

He sighed as he realized it wasn't in this book either. So he put it down and looked through the second book. He had grabbed from the shelves of the library. He looked through it TOC but it wasn't here either. Charles groaned in disappointment. Now he had to go put these books back and grab some more.
But before he did he looked through the third and final book he grabbed. He made sure to read its TOC very carefully but it wasn't there. He sighed and looked at Alina. He really did wonder why she was here.

"I like the library now and again. I've got my favorite place by my favorite window," she looked around the place. "I used to read up on some of the books of Potions and Herbology but now I've found myself reading up on Healing." They were far different than the books she had back home in her home library, full of classic literature. Those were nice too but they didn't bring about the wealth of knowledge that the Hogwarts Library provided its students.Interacting with @Charles Simmons and @Leonard Oaksworth
"What race are you looking for? Mine's just casual reading," she said of her Healing books before her. "I don't mind helping. You know us Hufflepuffs...great helpers and all," she flashed a smile to the boy. She tried to skim over what she could of the titles of the books. It was obvious he was on a dedicated search, skimming page over page in the Table of Contents and she felt sad when he grew frustrated at not finding his search.
"Really, I haven't anything else to do. It'll be a literary adventure!" She wasn't doing that great of a job talking it up, but she was trying to say that not only did she not mind helping him but that she really wasn't doing anything important anyway.

Charles sat in the seat as he listened to her. "Well if you actually want to help me. I guess I should tell you." Charles sighed. "I'm just so mad I can't find it by myself. When I was little the only friend I had. Was are huge library at home. I was able to always find what I was looking for." Charles frowned.
"But here I don't even know which section I am in." Charles shrugged. " Im getting off track. Im looking for a book that talks about Dhampirs." Charles made a face. That showed he did not want to talk about why, he wanted to read about Dhampirs.
If you looked closely his eyes were red. Like he has been crying a lot. And he was, Charles fiddled with his wand. It helped him think and relax. But it was clear he was not going to relax. Not until he got more information. " And I know you would like to help. You remind me so much of my dad. But you have a sense of humor." Charles laughed weakly.
"I should put these books back. And get some more books to look through." Charles grabbed the three books he took. And got up, and walked away. He went behind some bookshelves. He made sure that he was far away from everyone. Then he sunk o the floor and started to cry. He wiped the tears of blood off of his face. He needed to stop crying.

She hadn't any idea what these dhampirs were that he was trying to research. She was able to find the Ministry of Magic's Guidelines for the Treatment of Non-Wizard Part-Humans but she was only met with confusion. It seemed, if her understanding was correct, that perhaps the information Charlie sought out would be found in The Restricted Section.
Feeling like she was letting him down, she wandered the library in search of him but soon found behind a shelve of books, sitting on the floor. He wasn't crying at the moment but it looked very well like maybe he had been. "Charlie..." she paused.
She was going to ask him and she worried. She worried because she felt she already knew the answer and well, she was afraid at what she felt about it because it made her a little uneasy. Still, it seemed that he needed someone.
"Charlie," she began again, stepping closer. She came to him until she reached just before him and came to sit down next to him behind the shelves of books. "Charlie, why are you trying to look up that subject? Does it have something to do with your mum and your dad?" What little she read said that a dhampir was offspring of a male vampire and a human female.
