Even with the prospect of victory, Frederick didn’t let himself get distracted from the match. And that proved his instincts had been right. Somehow, the Slytherin Seeker had gained possession of the Quaffle and was coming straight at him, but Buckley was ready. Keeping a close eye on his opponent’s movements, the boy shifted his weight in the same direction the red leather ball was being guided and protected his hoop.

Another save to my tally, Fred thought with satisfaction. After a few more Gryffindor goals, he watched yet another Snake plummet from the skies. Now only Charlotte, the opposing Keeper, remained at the far end of the pitch, on the opposite side from where Frederick stood.

This round was rather intense. So many things happened while she was guarding the Quaffle. Harlan had won them 50 points again! What a great number. And a first-year Slytherin got hit by the Bludger, falling to the ground. Rosaline grimaced seeing that. It must be hurtful. She had been in the same situation before many times, and she hoped the snake would be fine after the match.

There were no words to express the excitement Avery felt beneath her schooled demeanor. She couldn’t believe what had happened the past round. With only one player left on the pitch for Slytherin, things were looking up for Gryffindor. This was the time to shine as she allowed her loud cheers to rise above and beyond.

The lions’ lead continued to stretch on and on against the formerly unbeatable Cloud Cobras, and in the moment, Alphonse couldn’t have been happier.

Whilst the boisterous Haitian wished he had more opportunity to score, it was what it was. They were winning. That was enough to keep him sated—for now.

The beater gets into his position. He rubs his hands together with a relieved sigh. Finally! That stupid lap took forever. Ethan squints at the scoreboard, eyes widening. HOLY- 180-100?! WE'RE CRUSHING IT! He grins from ear to ear, ecstatic about their team's performance. Ethan hopes that the team keeps this momentum going, as he's ready to get back out there and help his team secure their win.

Wait, why is the Slytherin's seeker touching the quaffle, it's not allowed, right? I swear I read it somewhere yesterday. She let out a sound of fury and confusion. Then her eyes sweept to the scoreboard - 180 to 100. Well, at least we're winning

Oonagh spent the game on the bench thus far, which, well, was less than ideal if she was being honest. She wanted to fly and do things and normally she was able to do so but apparently not during this game. Not during the game that had shown the most carnage towards their opponents. Quite disappointing that she was unable to swing her bat and add to the damage done on the playing field.

Chaewon really missed the time she was sitting on the bench and not really caring about the game. But now she needed to fly on the broom and help her team to win this Quidditch match. Everyone was here to win and Chaewon had lost the hope she came with when the game started and she was only watching the Quidditch game sitting on the bench. However she needed to at least try.

Second-String Actions

The moderator didn't even bother to comment on the fact that the second-strings on the two teams' respective benches had continued to cheer, on and on and on. If the audience hadn't heard them yelling positive reinforcement by now, no amount of announcing was going to change that.

Debuff Fouls

Unsatisfied that the Slytherin Keeper seemed to have returned to a more normal state of being after having been the victim of various elbows a few rounds ago, Ethan dove to shove his arm into Charlotte's stomach again. Though his elbow landed solidly, throwing the part-Veela off balance, he was unlucky enough to do this directly in front of the commentator's box, and a whistle sounded. "Hey! Smith! Clearly you didn't think hard enough on that penalty lap, because you're going to need to take another one!"

Luckily for Charlotte, the announcer was too busy yelling at the Gryffindor Beater to pay much attention for her, and she retaliated with an ear-splitting scream that caused intense ringing and deafness in the ears of five Gryffindors flying nearby. The announcer's head whipped around, trying to find the source of the scream, but it was already over and thus impossible to find the culprit.

The Quaffle

Whilst Frederick dangled uselessly from his broom over by the lions' hoops, the snakes' were unblocked and ripe for the taking. Harlan and Rosaline had clearly done a lot of practice on this whole guard-and-flick strategy, because it had been going strong for them for what was it now? Three rounds? Four? Still, they went through it again, this well-rehearsed game: Rosaline snatching the Quaffle from the air without so much as a contested grab, then passing quickly to Harlan, who bonked it into the golden hoops with the bushy back of his broom.

"Fifty points to Gryffindor," droned the commentator, who was fantasising about Harlan accidentally fumbling the Quaffle against empty hoops. Alas, they weren't a Seer.

The Snitch

The commentator was up and out of their seat, pointing frantically at one of the Gryffindor Beaters. "And Zhang grabs Shaw by the arm! They're whirling him around! I know that strategy all too well; these cubs are trying an Alley-Oop!"

Sure enough, Pax let Aodhan go at what seemed like just the correct angle, and for a moment, the whole crowd gasped. Aodhan sailed directly at the tiny golden ball, right where it was fluttering, almost directly in the centre of the pitch. The audience held their breath as he collided with it, fingers fumbling... but even though the catch seemed like a gimme, the Snitch was too nimble, darting out from Aodhan's fingers just as they closed into a fist in the middle of empty air.

"Oh, so close! It's a no for Shaw this time. Maybe next time..."

The Bludgers

Two rogue Bludgers were out and about, annoyed that no one on either team was allowing them to do their jobs. Instead, they took matters into their own hands (do Bludgers have hands?), one diving towards Charlotte as the only remaining player on the pitch in green, and the other choosing to target Rosaline.

"Winfield does another dodge, and thank goodness for that - I think she'd have gone down if she hadn't looped that Bludger," the commentator explained. "But that's a Bludger to the arm for Everhart! Luckily, she seems to be able to shake it off."

KOB Fouls/End of Game

Though no one was knocking anyone else off of their respective brooms, it seemed that the Slytherins had finally had enough. A wave of Charlotte's hand explained that she was done wit this, and as not only one of the captains but also the sole Slytherin player left in the air, that was all they needed.

A whistle blew again, strong and loud and long. "That looks like the end of it to me. Winfield's throwing in the towel before she joins her teammates in the Hospital Wing. Great job, Slytherin - I don't think I've ever seen a team fight that hard for that long! But everyone give it up for your winners today, Gryffindor!"

Outcome
