After curfew

He slowly calmed down. Breaths evened out, and he no longer felt like he was choking on air itself. He could still feel a bit of sweat down his back that was quickly becoming chilly. Carefully he stretched out his legs that he had gathered up to his chest. There wasn’t much space to do so but if he twisted it just a little, a foot could fit under the stall wall.

What they were to do, that was indeed the question of the hour. Leaning his elbows on his knees, he looked around the stall for what felt like the hundredth time. «We could always try screaking for help or something, but I bet no one is around anymore.» He pulled a bit on his collar and readjusted his sitting position to see Ophelia better. «Staying here isn’t something I want, but I don’t wanna get in trouble either, you know?» He had been in far more trouble than Ophelia, at least to his knowledge. That didn’t stop him from feeling extremely guilty every time he was caught doing something he shouldn’t have. The dread of knowing they were out after curfew was already building up, despite it being part of his original plan.

They both had gone silent for a mere moment, Max considering their options. He had just about given up on the whole idea of thinking when they heard it. It wasn’t particularly loud, and so for a millisecond Max was convinced he’d imagined it. That was until the fellow Gryffindor stood and yelled out. Blinking up at her, it took him a moment to catch up. Ophelia began knocking on the door and he jumped to his feet. It wasn’t exactly easy, and he stumbled a bit before catching his balance. Once properly on his feet, he was not late in joining her.

Balling his hands into fists, he hammered on the closest wall. All thoughts of getting in trouble, and feeling guilty about it were forgotten as he opened his mouth. «Hello? We’re in here! Please, HELP!» He had always had a good set of lungs. Mostly used for laughs and telling jokes, but he wasn’t bad at yelling either. He uttered his plea at an ear-piercing volume. Banging on the wall so hard he could almost feel it shake, he looked over at Ophelia again. No matter who had just entered, and how much trouble they could possibly be in, it was way better than spending the night in here.
