Access opportunity gap is just a term that can describe how children from communities that are not as dominant or are in a marginalized community often face some form of barriers or restrictions to participating in STEM learning whether the barriers include limited resources, fewer programs and systematic inequities to make STEM education harder for them to access. In regards to the identity gap, the children might not see themselves represented in STEM spaces even when access is provided. It feels like the culture and structure of STEM itself is just exclusionary. But the general bridge between the two is that the access gap is all about the entry, which is to get into STEM spaces, while the identity gap is in regards to belonging, which specifies the recognition and value the child might feel once they are a part of the STEM space.
The maker movements are utilizing hands on creative approaches using physical and digital tools to help children connect STEM learning between their experiences and communities. Essentially by making things, they are breaking down barriers by helping them combine and emphasize their skills and experiences they have from home and community. Using the football project with Samuel as an example, it is taking into consideration a dangerous area and the darkness that he goes about, the football being made has a way of being soft, weighed like an NFL football, and has battery powered lights on top of being waterproof. This can make playtime fun for him and not hurt him as bad as a normal football would, on top of that, he'd be less likely to lose the football due to it lighting up!

I have 2 of the 3 discussion questions asked for, but I'm gonna have to somehow shorten this :( below 300 words once I finish the 3rd question to answer

sobs the problem is all of the parts are answering each subquestion the question holds- so like one question has like 4 more questions within it, and so on for the other 2 main questions.
