Nancy had dealt with student arguments before, had separated students on more than one occasion when a fight was about to break out, but this did not seem like one of those situations. Instead, it felt like the two students needed to calmly talk to each other. The woman needed to do her job first though, then she could help them make up.

“The headache is expected, especially after having been knocked out. I should have something that will help with that. It may help you regain your strength, but it will help with the pain more than anything else.” The Pepperup Potion was probably the potion she went through the most, especially during cold and flu season, but it had its benefits.

Pulling the small labeled vial out of her pocket, she held it up for them both to see. “This is the Pepperup Potion, it should help with the headache and may help you regain your strength a bit faster. After you drink it, it will cause steam to come out of your ears. That is perfectly normal.” Carefully, she pulled the cap off of the vial and handed it to the girl to take. Once the vial was out of her hand and drank by the girl, she would inform the duo that she was stepping away to her desk for a bit and to call her over if they needed anything else. This would give the pair time to talk, while Nancy was still close enough to supervise.

Olivia glanced at what Max had offered her, some tissue and a half drank juice box. She scoffed simply ignoring his kindness. Was this even real? She couldn't know, she didn't know what Max truly felt anymore.

Just then Nurse McLoughlin came back with a vial. She explained that the headache was normal and advised her to drink some Peppercup potion which she had handed to her. It was reassuring to hear the words normal and regain your strenght faster.

She glanced over at Max once more, he was still a mess, more of a mess then she remembered. She hadn't noticed how ridiculous he looked making her lips twitch upwards ever so slighty. She wanted to tease him, she was mad, but she couldn't find the strength. She slowly sat up ready to drink the potion in her hand, steam coming out of her ears? How strange, she thought as she quickly downed the whole thing and handed it back to Nurse McLoughlin. "Thank you," she said appreciative of all her help. As soon as the words left her mouth she felt pressure build up in her ears and relaese. It felt quite satisfying and seemed to instantly ease her headache ever so slightly, making her sigh in relif.

And just like that Nurse McLoughlin headed back to her desk leaving her alone with Max. "Oh great," she muttered, she must have looked halirious with steam coming out her ears, and Max got a front row seat. "I don't want to hear whatever sorry excuse you have for doing this to me," she stated a little harshly, as she flopped back on her pillow."To be quite honest I don't know what you're still doing here," she added a little confused to find him still by her side.

He figured he would be turned down on his offers, so he didn’t push. He shouldn’t have opened the juice box anyway. He should have thought like a friend and saved it. But of course he didn’t. He was such a jerk. At least in his own opinion just now.

He stayed silent as Nurse McLoughlin made her assessment. Not daring to get in the way of all of that, as well as not wanting to overwhelm Olivia. He had done more than enough harm after all. «Thank you!» He echoed the Hufflepuffs words. He had so much he wanted to say, but it was hardly the moment to do so. And so he got an outlet the only way he could think of. Paying attention to Olivia to such a degree it would be strange if one didn’t find it uncomfortable. Watching as she drank the potion, as well as the release of steam. So occupied was he in fact, that not even a smile crossed his lips.

The matron retreating once more, he didn’t know wether to feel relieved or horrified. He knew this was the time he was meant to speak. Talking about anything and everything was not a problem he ever faced. Why was it then that his words got stuck in his throat? Olivia spoke, talking about not wanting to hear what he had to say and wanting him gone. He could only stare at her in return. That calming draught was truly going above and beyond. He felt like breaking down in tears once more, just anything to relieve a bit of the guilt he felt. But he found himself remarkably calm, only a couple of tears escaping down his cheeks.

«Olivia…» His voice was groggy with emotion once he found it. «I won’t say sorry if you don’t want to hear it but…» He hesitated a mere moment before blurting the rest. «Please know I didn’t mean for this to happen. Any of it! I just got so mad, and I said the first thing that crossed my mind before swinging.» He wiped at his nose with the back of his hand and shrugged a little. Clearly feeling a bit sorry for himself, but feeling even worse for her. «I knew you needed help after you blacked out, and so I brought you here…» He had so much more he wanted to get off his chest, needed to air. But how to even begin formulating it? Not really knowing how, he just ended up sitting there. Wiping tears and snot, not really daring to take his eyes off of her in the fear that she’d disappear, or worse.

Olivia closed her eyes as Max began to ramble, he seemed worried she could sense the guilt in his voice. "What do you want me to say Max? thank you for hurting me and bringing me to the hospital wing?" She asked. She didn't know if she could forgive him, he had taken their playful banter a little too far.

She opend her eyes to give Max her full attention as she waitied for a reply. His tear stained face made her feel a little sorry for him but she quickly pushed that aside, she was not going to allow herself to feel sorry for him, not one bit. He had hurt her, someone she somewhat cared for, she classed him as an annoynace but someone she would stick up for if he was in any serious trouble.

Max was staring intensely at her, he seemed fixated unable to look away, "Have you got a crush or something stop staring at me," she spat, "Now your being creepy," she added. Seriously what was wrong with him, she never took him for a weirdo, was there a nasty side to him she didn't know?

She looked away before her eyes landed back on him, the events of the day kept on replaying through her mind whenever she looked his way, that and the words that came out of his mouth. That was now what was associated with his face. She was unsure if their relationship would ever go back to the way it was. She was always taught to stay away from boys that would harm a girl. Max had to truly do or say something that would completely throw her off guard and she was not sure how long that would take or if it would ever happen.

He hadn’t expected a pat on the back. Far from it! Growing up as isolated as he had, he didn’t think much over how fighting with others varied from him trading kicks and punches with his sister. He was durable, and could barely remember the last time he got actually hurt in a fight. His sister Drew was very much the same way. So they pulled each others hair, threw objects at each others faces, and tackled one another to the ground. Sure, tempers could flair up. Probably more than an outsider would consider normal. But they got their antics out, and eventually forgave each other before sunset.

He hadn’t thought about how others would be different. His parents had departed words of wisdom before he left for school, but none of them had been about fighting. Sure, his mum often said that fights were better solved by words, but he was convinced that was only something she said because she was a journalist. So he came to Hogwarts and he brawled like normal. But this wasn’t normal. He knew Olivia could fight, they had brawled before. But she had gotten hurt, and now she refused to listen. He already felt bad enough, but he couldn’t blame her for rubbing it in.

What was he then supposed to say and do? «Noo…» He dragged out the word a little. A thank you wasn’t what he wanted, it wouldn’t help either of them. «I guess I just… I don’t really know what to do here.» He shrugged slightly, moving his gaze to his hands upon her comment. The thought of having a crush was almost laughable, it was so far from his mind.

«We fought, and that was my fault. I know that. You were being a bit mean, but that’s not an excuse…» His voice died as his mind drifted off for a moment. If this had been Drew, they would have been back to being friends again already. He didn’t quite get why this was different, only that it clearly was. «I guess I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to make it better.»

Olivia looked at him, his guilt was clearly visable through his posture and voice. A small smirk slwoly appeared on her face, "Well for one you could owe me one," she said, "And admit I am the better one between the pair of us," she added, "And maybe actually apologise like properly apologise and promise to never hit a woman ever, it's extremely frowned upon," she finished as her tone got a little serious at the end.

Olivia never intended to ever let him forget this, but she was being mean, a brawl was bound to happen but not this violently, maybe next time the roles may be reversed and she would want Max to forgive her. Accidents are bound to happen.

She reached over to the half drank juice box picking it up and taking a sip to reassure Max that she was not as mad as before, she had seen how he was acting and she didn't want to over do it while he was in such an emotional state."You're an idiot Max, and quite useless when it comes to magic but your not a jerk," she stated, "I know we aren't friends like that but I can see your a good guy," she added, "But I can't shake off the harsh words you uttered, not until you've proven that's definitely not what you believe," she said as she looked away. She wasn't sure where she was going with this, but it was the right thing to do, holding grudges was not healthy. She was more mature then that and definitely more mature then Max.

Did he hear that right? Owing her one was no problem, she deserved at least that much. An apology too, was no problem. As was the promise she asked for. What made him frown a bit was the part about him admitting that she was better than him. She was in a lot of ways, but he would rather get locked in a trunk or somewhere equally tight, than admit it, even to himself. He scratched the back of his head as he thought it over. He could just say it without meaning it, right? No one would know. But once the words were uttered, there was no way back. He would have said them, and Olivia would have every right to hold it over him for eternity.

It was her second speech, about the hurtful things he said, that made the decision for him. «I will owe you one…» He admitted, before grinding his teeth slightly. It took him more than a moment to get the words out before he spoke again. «And you are better than me. At magic at least…» He forced the words out, and the second sentence was not much above a murmur.

He had refused to look at her while he said it, but now he met her eye and drew a deep breath. «And I am so sorry that I hurt you, and that you got hurt. Also for the things I said, I swear I didn’t mean a single word of it. I promise I won’t do it again! I know we aren’t friends, not really, but I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. You’re sort of alright, at least on a good day, and I will do whatever I can for us to still speak to each other.» He started out very serious, a lot more so than he usually was. Apologies were important, and he needed to do it right. By the end, he couldn’t help himself from quipping just a tiny bit though. It was the way they normally interacted with each other, and he felt the need to test the waters.

Now he had sort of ran out of things to say, and Olivia seemed alright enough. So he sent a look about the hospital wing before looking back at her. «I guess I should leave you to rest or something.» It was spoken in a tone halfway between a statement and a question. He could understand her needing a moment to herself, but he also didn’t want to just storm off in case they weren’t yet good. Slowly, as if waiting to be told to sit right back down, he stood from his seat.
