Ileen smiled as she looked at her two finished letters. She felt good and also somehow lighter. I wish I could also write to someone else. Although she felt comfortable at Hogwarts, she rather stayed out of groups or conversations - just as it suited her nature. So actually, there was noone to write to.
But she was also aware that there was one thing that she had learned from Dee: Sometimes someone was worth leaving her comfort zone.
It was important to make new connections and sometimes she felt the need to talk to someone in her house - even if she would deny it. If she hadn't written the two letters before, she would never have done what she was about to do.
There was this boy in her class. Leonard. Also a Slytherin. They’ve never talked to each other before, but she had seen him many times in the common room. Normally, he was stealing her best spots to watch the conversations or to read a book. So she had noticed him. His behavior was so similar to hers.
At first it was very irritating for her. But now, after dealing with her own feelings and writing her parents and her best friend, she wondered what kind of person he was. And why he was acting the way he did. Maybe he felt the same way she did? And if they were so similar, one of them had to act atypical and start a conversation.
Damn it Dee, that one I owe to you.
And so, she bit her lower lip, scraped together her courage and started writing.
She stopped. Could anyone even follow her in this letter? Or did it sound as confused as she was feeling right now? A thousands questions popped up in her head. What kind of books do you like? What are your parents like? Do you already have some friends? Why do I have the feeling that you are a lot like me?!
But for her standards she already showed Leonard to much of her thoughts. She wasn’t even able to ask the one question, she wanted - no, needed - an answer to. Was he someone she could be friends with? Someone, who would understand her and accept her for who she was? Someone in Slytherin to share her thoughts with? No, she couldn’t ask something like this. She would have ignored the letter by herself if she was him.
Ileen folded the letter. Her hands were shaking and her heart was beating fast. She was nervouse. And she really wished for two things in this moment: First, she hoped he would understand her questions without reading them - because she didn’t write them. Second, she really hoped she wouldn’t regret this.

Hi Leonard,
This is Ileen, also a first year Slytherin - the other silent and watching kid in the Slytherin area. I know we never talked to each other before - and this is a huge step out of my comfort zone - but lately, you are stealing my favorite spots in the Common Room to do things I also like to do.
And no I wonder if my impression is right and we have a lot in common? Normally, I wouldn’t care and absolutely wouldn’t write a letter to a stranger. But today is not normal. And since I’m not a brave Gryffindor it’s really awkward to do something I’m not used to. And I hope, you’ll appreciate that, because I most likely will never do that again.
And I hate to admit it, but now I’m curious about what you could be like.

Looking forward hearing/reading from you.
Ileen
P.S.: Don’t get used to read or hear about me feelings and thoughts. Normally, that’s something you have to figure out by yourself.

By now Callie knew she couldn't keep putting off delving into her schoolwork and found herself at odds with her own brain. On one hand she desperately needed to put in some extra work for transfiguration as she'd been finding some difficulty understanding the class. However on the other hand the idea of writing another letter was an infinitely more exciting prospect especially when the idea to write one to her cousin popped into her head. Callie hadn't managed to see much of Nora lately as she'd primarily had her nose stuck into a book or pestering one of her friends in some form. Writing a letter seemed like the perfect opportunity to distract herself from a growing list of responsibilities and give her cousin something to smile about. Everyone needed something to smile about after all and especially now! But she couldn't procrastinate doing some actual schoolwork off much longer so she resolved that this was to be her final letter before retreating back to the common room. Duty called but for now duty could wait a little while longer. So Callie once again delved into another literary masterpiece, with her tongue extended outward slightly in concentration. and her glasses slowly slipping from her nose.
Greetings and Salutations Nora!
It's been a while since I had the chance to speak to you and I know you must be missing seeing my face. After all who wouldn't! Maybe Adrian but that's beyond the point here, clearly you love your adoring cousin. Even if you don't you love me now, I'm making an executive decision here. How is Jeger? I bet he isn't so tiny anymore! Or maybe he's an immortal being incapable of ageing? I'm not sure but either way I still love that kitty cat. Hogwarts is so much...weirder than you made it out to be..I'm still not used to all the moving paintings! It's like dad's old TV shows dialled up to 1000...or maybe 1000000? Maybe even 20000000! So far the Ravenclaw door has thwarted me more times that I'm willing to admit but me and Phel have decided to name it Arnold! Arnold is an evil trickster but I'm slowly getting better at seeing past his tricks. Well at least for now! Until he poses another super tricky riddle again and I have to be bailed out by someone else. I'm still not used to even having a wand either..all this talk of wand cores still confuses me a little..I actually forgot wands had different cores! I'm not sure how you keep up with all this, maybe you're a lot smarter than I am. Regardless of my questionable intellect and things I don't know I am certain of two things. Firstly that I need to talk to you and pet Jeger again very soon and secondly that I love you. However in spite of my love the hell that is transfiguration awaits me....so I bid you farewell!
Much Love,
Callie J.
While the ink dried Callie piled up her stack of letters and tucked them in between the pages of one of her books. Overall her literary adventures had been a success but before she could delve into some actual schoolwork, they needed sent! After all nobody could read her masterworks if she kept them all to herself! So Callie wasted no time in picking up the newly inked letter as soon as it was dry and ducked out of the library to accomplish such a goal. At least this time her procrastination of doing some homework was somewhat productive for a change!

Could stuffed animals even read? This was the question that was weighing down Mildred- she knew that Chicken could read, well she had no proof and it was more of a gut instinct than anything. She chose to believe that Chicken could read, however, he just didn't want her to know. it was like how she knew that Chicken would explore and become alive at night- once again, she had no proof but she relied on her stuffed animal instincts.
She only hoped that Freddie and Gerald could read, if anything she could read the letter to Gerald, however, Freddie was a lost cause. She supposed she could borrow Freddie for a few seconds if she needed to, the young Hufflepuff girl was set on stealing Freddie if she needed to, just so she could read the letter to it.
She set the letter to Gerald right next to her previous letter to dry. Reaching out, she grabbed another piece of paper and was ready to write. If she was going to write to Gerald, it was only reasonable she'd write to Freddie.
She smiled while looking at it, remembering the memories she made when she met Jake and Freddie at the Hufflepuff common rooms. This time she would not freak out about sending it since stuffed animal friendships were no joke and were something she didn't need to think about, of course, her and Freddie were friends. She once again grabbed the pen and signed it off.Dear Freddie,
DO NOT LET JAKE SEE THIS!!! (although please tell him hello from me)
Hello! I don’t know if you remember me but I met you in the Hufflepuff common rooms sometime last month! It was a pleasure to meet you, I hope you’re doing well and staying safe from the dreaded washing machines!
Oh- I just remembered that electricity is not allowed… I wonder how jake is cleaning you? I hope you’re clean and warm, I wonder if there’s a spell for cleaning stuffed animals… there should be! Maybe we could invent one or something I don’t know, We could be famous though!! And our names will be known forever. Hope to see you soon!!

After she had finally gotten started, the words just seemed to flow out of her. It was not a replacement for talking to her parents directly, of course, but she was sure that the sentiment was coming across. A bright smile on her face, Dee folded the letter for her father into something vaguely heart-shaped although somewhat lopsided, and then continued onto writing her mother's letter.
Her mother was pretty much the only person in the world who called her Dealla, and also the only person where she didn't mind - sort of. Every time Dee had tried to convince her to call her by her nickname, Alexandra had deflected so deftly that Dee hadn't even really noticed, and at some point she had just given up. She did like how her name sounded in her mother's voice. It was something that no one else managed.Dear mum,
So since I wrote a letter for dad, I thought I'd have to write one for you, too... Just kidding, I was planning to do that from the start. It's funny, I realized that I have a much easier time writing to you separately instead of together. Mum, I really love Potions! I understand why you liked it so much, it's so fascinating. Preparing the ingredients, and stirring them together just right, and I swear, only half of it is really following the recipe, a lot of it is just feeling. You get that, right? Sometimes it just feels like it needs a tad more of that last ingredient, or an extra half-stir, you know? That's what I love the most.
Herbology is a lot of fun, too! I love learning about all of the plants, whether I need them for potions or not! My friend Blake and I discovered a weird fungus in Hogwarts, I think the caretaker should maybe clean more thoroughly, although that would make things more boring maybe.I'll tell you all about that when I'm home in the summer!
Please tell dad not to worry too much about me, I told him that too, but I know he still does. I'm fine, here, I'm happy. I'll see you soon!
I love you,
Dealla
Thoughtfully, Dee tapped her chin with the end of her glitter pen. Should she write one more letter?

One last one, just for good measure, Mars figured. And so they wouldn't have to return this last piece of parchment to the supply table. Something about it just didn't seem right. But who to write it to, that was the question. Mars didn't really know anyone else well enough to write them a letter. Maybe Cassie or Lizzie, but then, they saw those two practically every day. There was no sense in writing a letter when they could just go up to the people and say whatever they wanted to say.
Absentmindley, they scratch the tip of the quill over the parchment. A bit of residue ink leaked out onto paper. Mars swore. They ripped a strip of parchment off the bottom of the large piece to try and blot it away. Sometimes, muggle technology kind of surpassed wizard tech. What they wouldn't give for some white-out or maybe even a pencil.
They sighed. Well, that hadn't been particularly successful. There was now a large blob of faint ink in the middle of the paper. Great. What a waste. Mars sat back, glaring at it. Now what? They shift the page from side to side, turning it around a couple of times. Huh. If they turned the page upside down, the blotch looked kind of like a heart.
Mars looked up at the red ink sitting on the table above them. Hmm. The Ravenclaw dipped their quill into the ink, letting the excess fluid drip off the tip before setting it against the blotch. The line that came out was a mixture between black and red—quite pretty, honestly. They traced part of the blotch, letting some parts speak for themselves. Mars had never been any good at drawing, but hearts were child's play, even for someone who could barely make a straight line.
Well, now there was a small heart in the center of the parchment. Wonderful. It was still a big distraction. Suddenly, Mars fought the urge to facepalm. Swearing at themselves for being dumb, they flipped the parchment over.
There, a clean slate. That still didn't solve the problem of who to write this letter too. Mars ran a finger over the spines of the feather, staring at the heart. It reminded them of—something. What was it? They wrinkled a brow, trying to remember. Uh.... wait. Right! It was May. May was Mental Health Awareness Month in the muggle world. Mars had remembered because their school had actually been fairly progressive about it, advocating for good mental health strategies, even at the elementary level.
Well, that was nice. They hadn't thought much of muggle holidays up until now. They'd been too occupied with school work and tasks like this one. The blank piece of parchment still lay in front of them, swirling together with the thoughts of Mental Health Awareness, home, and muggle holidays. Hmm. Mars stopped running the feather against their finger. Professor Jensen never said it had to be addressed to someone, right?
Dipping the quill, they began to write.
Mars stared down at the letter, blushing a little. They hadn't meant to get so preachy, but they also meant everything they had written. Pushing away any feeling of doubt, they folded up the letter just like the ones from before. But instead of sliding it into their back pocket, they left it neatly folded in the middle of the table. To whoever may read this,
Greetings! I hope this found you in good health. I didn't have much of an objective when starting this, just thought I'd say hello. I'm Mars, Mars T'ien, but that's beside the point. I suppose I just wanted to say that I hope you're doing okay. I know school can be stressful (it certainly is for me) and certain events happening in the muggle world right now are also difficult to deal with. I don't know if you needed to hear this, but you should know, it's always okay to take a break. There's nothing wrong with slowing down and enjoying life where you are at the moment. You are not the sum or the measure of your successes, your abilities, or your accomplishments. The world will still turn if you need a moment.
Beyond that, I know Hogwarts is an extremely competitive school. Hell, I'm a competitive person and sometimes it goes beyond me. I suppose I write this for myself too when I say that it's okay to fail sometimes. It's okay to not be perfect. As cliché as it is, learning happens through failure (as long as there isn't too much disaster along the way). It's okay to not be okay. It's okay to feel certain things and let yourself feel them. Don't beat yourself up for the way you react to something. It's not something you can control. On the flip side, it's also alright to be alright. You don't need to make yourself worse in any manner to please someone. You don't have to suffer to be alive. God, I'm not making much sense, am I?
All I'm really trying to say is that you are good enough. Hell, you've made it this far and—presumably—haven't blown anything up. And you haven't died! That's an accomplishment in itself, no? I feel like everything is trying to kill you in the wizarding world (and the muggle one for that matter). I, as a random stranger, wish you the greatest luck in life. Whatever it is that you're pursuing, I promise, if you put your heart into it, there's no reason you won't be able to succeed. It is worth the attention you're giving it. Take care of yourself. Eat healthy (though who am I to say anything about that, I never eat breakfast), get good exercise, shower (for the love of God, if you're not going to do personal hygiene for yourself, at least do it for the rest of us), sleep! Cut out the people and things in your life that make you feel awful. Do everything it takes to make yourself the best you can be.
And if you don't think you can do that on your own, never hesitate to ask for help. You have my owl information, so if you want a stranger to talk to, I'm all ears. But there are also so many people around you that I'm sure would give their world for you. Remember that. Help is never further than a spell away. Anyway, that was long and nearing philosophical so I'll end it here. Just remember that you're amazing. That's all I'm asking for.
Magically yours, Mars
Gathering their supplies, they returned all the inkpots and the quill to the supplies table. Then, they headed out the door. After all, they had to get up to the Owlery and mail these all out.
As they walked out the library doors, the folded letter remained, sitting softly on the surface of the desk. Light from one of the library windows cast itself over the table, reflecting off the glassy varnish coating it. The only spot that was unlit was the letter itself. Instead, a swirly red and black heart surrounding a messy inkblot smiled up at the ceiling. It seemed to thrum with a little heartbeat. Magic maybe. Or maybe just the anticipation of someone coming along to read it. A letter left by a Love Note Leaver.

Letter to Grandmother
Alexis stepped lightly into the library with her eyes focus on finding a quiet and isolated spot for her to write her letter. She walked up to the table where the professor has set all the tools needed. She picked up a quill, a bottle of Black ink and a fresh parchment.
She placed her tools on the table and lowered herself down to the empty seat isolated from others people. Her thoughts went back to the last time she saw her grandmother, it was at the new year party. It’s been longer than she remembered.
Dear grandmother,
This is a letter that I promised you. I’m sorry it took me a while to send it to you. It’s been a while since I last saw you grandmother, how are you? Are you still in England? Or have you gone back to France already? I don’t know if mother has told you yet, but I was sorted into Ravenclaw. I’m not sure if I was disappointed or not that I’m not in the same house as Arthur and Anthony.
Everything has been great so far. I absolutely love Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. It was really really fun. The professors are friendly and their classes are interesting.
Please, do not worry much about me. I can assure you that my time here will be fantastic. I will keep you updated, I promise.
With love and respect,
Alexandria Astrid Asterion
Alexis reread the letter and scribbled one little heart before her name with a smile before she folded the letter up nicely and put it in a clean white envelope, ready to deliver it to her grandmother.

Love Note Leavers
Elspeth entered the library and made her way over to the letter writing table. She'd been feeling more anxious than usual, given everything that was going on in the world, and when she'd seen something posted on the bulletin board advertising a chance to write encouraging notes to folks she cares about the idea felt right to her. Although her family was safe thanks to wizarding cures, she knew a lot of people in her hometown were muggles and weren't as safe. Everything seemed really big and scary and beyond her scope to understand, but she knew how to help her friends feel better and right now doing something she knew how to do felt good.
There was a wide variety of materials made available at the table, beautiful quills and inks and envelopes. Elspeth chose a fairly simple quill and some green ink. Green was her favorite color, which was oddly difficult to talk about at school given that everyone seemed to think the sorting hat also determined your color choices forever too. She sighed. This activity was about working to relax herself, not find unimportant things to get worked up over.
There was a large window overlooking the forest just behind a batch of desks. A few students were walking through, but the library seemed hardly crowded. Elspeth thought it seemed like an okay time to spread out on the floor with her materials. She laid down on her stomach and made five small piles of paper with Dear and the recipient on the top of each. The first few letters were easy. Her parents, her closest friend Carolyn, a girl from her Hogwarts Express ride who'd helped her feel comfortable on that first day Calypso. After that, the choices became less clear. Professor Jensen had said that they could earn chocolate frogs for up to five letters. And Elspeth believed in the beauty of sending the notes out for the sake of getting in touch with people. But she also really wanted those frogs. Katrina Walker came to mind, maybe she would appreciate a kind word. For her last letter she decided she'd set herself a challenge. She'd write to Cassandra Ironwoods, a Slytherin who scared her more than most. Maybe writing a kind letter would get her on the slythie's better side? Her mother had always told her that bullies were just kids who were hurting too. And she had no reason to distrust her mom so.
The patch of sunlight was warm, and she could see the trees swaying in a light breeze. Some sunlight caught in the glass ink bottle as she dipped her quill in. Easiest letter first.
She'd be needing some of that can do spirit for her next letter. Despite spending a vulnerable moment with Katrina in the bathrooms, Elspeth didn't know much about her. But she thought if anyone might benefit from being reached out to and told they were cared about, it was Katrina. (Then again, Katrina could also think that Elspeth was just pitying her and get frustrated... but at least she would be frustrated at the letter and not at Elspeth?).
And, lastly, came her biggest challenge. Maybe this was a terrible idea... Cassie had only ever been unpleasant to Elspeth at best. But the thing was, Elspeth didn't really know her at all. She didn't know what would drive Cassie to be so mean to her upon first meeting her. Anyone who would greet someone that way was someone who must want someone to reach out to them, yeah? At least, Elspeth felt so.
She dipped her quill and began, hoping she'd find a thread along the way.
With the last letter finished, Elspeth looked over at Katrina's letter, sitting off to the side by itself. After a beat, she picked it up and put it in the stack with all of the other letters. Everyone deserves to be reached out to.
She gathered the materials she'd borrowed and brought them back to the table smiling at Professor Jensen but leaving quickly enough that she couldn't accidentally find herself in a conversation she wasn't ready to have yet. As nervous as she was about talking to students she didn't know, talking to authority figures outside of a classroom was a guaranteed way for her to go into shock.
Elspeth stopped at the front desk of the library and tucked the letters into a book in her backpack so they wouldn't get crumpled on her walk up to the Owlery to send them. It looked like she'd wittled away a whole afternoon working on them, and still had plenty of time to go outside in the evening if she wanted to. Elation overtook her at the realization that she'd managed to maybe make people feel better, possibly earned some candy, and could still do what she wanted outside. Time management was such a trip.

She folded the letter in half and placed it in an envelope, before pulling over the next sheet of paper.Dear mom and dad,
Hi! I hope you guys are well. I've been thinking about you two so much lately. I really miss you both and wish we could be together. How's Aberystwyth? It's hard to stay connected so I haven't heard much save for what you've written to me. School's been going well. My classes are starting to feel more manageable. And all this nice weather means I can spend more time outside looking for beetles and nifflers.
I just wanted to say... I know that we're going to be okay, but with so much scary stuff happening, I just wanted to let you guys know that I love you both very much. Some students here seem to really dislike their parents. And it makes me feel so lucky to have you guys. I'm really looking forward to seeing you during summer break. Dad, can we bake a tart together? Hogwarts has some delicious food, but their tarts don't compare to yours. And mom, I want to show you my journal - I've got so many sketches of animals I've seen this year!
And, can you make sure that Mrs. Crispin is okay? I know she's a muggle, so she can't know about us. I'm not saying you should break the rules and give her a potion or anything. But, can you keep an eye on her? She was a really nice piano teacher. I don't want her to be in danger just because she's a muggle.
Love you, and see you so soon,
Elspeth
Again, she folded the piece of paper in half, placed it in an envelope and moved on to the next sheet. This is going along easier than I expected. The nice weather must be helping power her through.Dear @Carolyn Hunt,
It feels a bit silly writing you a letter when our beds are in the same room! But I was in the library working on this love letter challenge professor Jensen set, and when I sat down to think of people I care about at Hogwarts, yours was the first name that popped into my head. I don't know if you know this, but I was so incredibly nervous on my first day at school. I know you thought I was more confident, because I'd spent more time around wizards. But I was working so hard to seem cool and not scared. You were so nice to me, though. I wasn't sure I would ever make a friend here, but having you on that first day and knowing that I can come to you when I need to makes me feel so happy.
I know we're still really new friends. I don't mean to sound clingy. But I thought it was important for you to know that there's someone at the school who's happy that you're here and who wants to spend more time with you. We should get together for a snack some time and you can tell me all that you know about Greek Mythology! I loved hearing you talk about it that one time, and I don't know much of anything about Zeus and Company.
I hope you're doing well and I'll see you when I go to bed tonight,
Elspeth
Fold, envelope, push, next piece of paper. It was like a factory at this point. She was feeling so excited about getting things done after such a long dry spell of feeling like her homework was completely out of reach to her. Elspeth might not be very good at writing essays or dueling, but she was great at telling people why she cared about them.Dear @Calypso Aretez
Hi Callie! I'm not sure if you remember me. It's Elspeth! We sat together on the Hogwarts Express on the ride to Hogwarts. I'm sitting in the library right now working on a challenge for Professor Jensen, and I remembered how kind you were to me on the train that first day. I'd just said goodbye to my parents and I was feeling really scared. It was so nice of you to offer an open spot in your train compartment. I don't know if that sounds weird, ha. I guess what I mean to say is, you didn't have to open a spot to me and I think it was nice of you to go out of your way to help a kid you didn't know feel a little safer.
I think when I've seen you around, that you're in Slytherin, yeah? How is it living under the lake? Can you hear the Giant Squid at night? I've heard rumors that if you press your ears to the stones down in the dungeon you can her merpeople speaking at certain parts of the day. I haven't spent much time down there so I haven't been able to check. Maybe we could meet up some time and search for them? Let me know, I'd love to catch up with you and ask how your school year has been.
Sincerely,
Elspeth
She'd be needing some of that can do spirit for her next letter. Despite spending a vulnerable moment with Katrina in the bathrooms, Elspeth didn't know much about her. But she thought if anyone might benefit from being reached out to and told they were cared about, it was Katrina. (Then again, Katrina could also think that Elspeth was just pitying her and get frustrated... but at least she would be frustrated at the letter and not at Elspeth?).
She hesitated for a moment before putting this letter into an envelope. Maybe this was none of her business and she was just going to make the situation worse by sending it. All of the other letters were in a small pile, but Elspeth set this one to the side so she could decide at the end whether to send it or not.Dear @Katrina Walker
Hi, it's Elspeth Gollens. I don't know that we've formally met. I'm the one who had a panic attack after peeing in a broken toilet (I really hope you can't confuse me with someone else you've seen having a panic attack after peeing in a broken toilet... I'm a Ravenclaw if you need to narrow it down more). I don't mean for this to feel awkward, I know it doesn't always feel good for practical strangers to know a lot about a person... But I'm sitting in the library working on Professor Jensen's letter writing challenge. And I thought about you. At first I couldn't tell why. You and I have only seen each other the once, maybe it was a weird idea.
I just wanted you to know that I care about you. Which... maybe that sounds creepy. Sorry, I don't think I'm doing my best writing. It's just, when you mentioned that your family had passed away, I felt this pang inside of me. My family is still here, so it's not like it was a pang I'd felt before. But for a tiny moment I felt a small piece of what I imagine you must be feeling all the time. I wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you, and I hope you find what you're looking for. If you ever want someone to talk to and you don't want to have to share your secret with anyone else, I'm here for you.
Elspeth
And, lastly, came her biggest challenge. Maybe this was a terrible idea... Cassie had only ever been unpleasant to Elspeth at best. But the thing was, Elspeth didn't really know her at all. She didn't know what would drive Cassie to be so mean to her upon first meeting her. Anyone who would greet someone that way was someone who must want someone to reach out to them, yeah? At least, Elspeth felt so.
She dipped her quill and began, hoping she'd find a thread along the way.
She looked at the letter and crumpled it up. It turns out writing out your petty feelings didn't always work to make you feel any better. Maybe her second attempt would land.Dear @Cassandra Ironwoods
You.... didn't need to take my books away from me. Meanie.
She grumbled in frustration, wadding this piece of paper up into a ball and throwing it behind her. If she couldn't think of a way to be nice to someone, then how could she expect everyone to always be nice all the time? Before getting out her last sheet of paper she stopped and thought for a moment. How could she send a nice letter without possibly putting herself up to get more crap in return? On her back the rug feel soft and plus on her back, and the ceiling seemed to stretch up forever. Elspeth wondered how old this library was. And that's when it hit her. Quickly she turned back around and pulled a piece of paper out.Dear Cassandra Ironwoods,
I hope that it always feels like a little bit of sand is in your shoe.
Elspeth looked at her letter. She'd left it anonymous. No way for Cassie to trace it back to her, and nothing incriminating in the letter that would immediately signal that it had been Elspeth who'd wrote it. But some kindness and thoughts that were from the heart. Everyone was in this together, including people Elspeth didn't like. Just because she didn't like them didn't mean they didn't deserve to feel safe too.Dear Cassie,
Professor Jensen has come up with a challenge for students to write kind letters to each other, what with all of the scary events going on in the world. I thought I'd write one to you. We don't know each other, but I've seen you around school. Sometimes I feel invisible, like no one would notice if I stopped coming to school entirely. But then I think about students like you, students I don't know that well. I'd notice if you stopped coming. I'd be worried that maybe something bad had happened to you.
Wait... this might be coming off stalker-y. That's not how I mean it! I mean to say, that, even if it doesn't always feel like it, you're noticed and people would notice if you were hurt or gone. You're part of our Hogwarts family and you're cared for. Don't feel nervous to reach out if you need anything during this weird time. We're all in this together and we're going to help each other get through.
You're cared for and we're here to help and... and it's okay if you don't always feel so confident and brave. I almost never feel confident and brave. If you're feeling nervous or alone or anything, just know there's lots of other students who are feeling the same way.

Love Note Leavers
They stared down the last blank parchment that laid on the wooden table, tapping gently the said table with their close bottle ink. They still need to write another letter but they do not know who is it will be send to. Gnawing their bottom lip, they are thinking. Some names came across their mind.
First, they want to send it to Professor Jensen but then they did know the authoritative figure that much even though the white hair woman is their Head of their House. Cassie only met Professor Jensen in the passing time. Then it come to Professor Bercegeay, Cassie met the woman once in the Flying class. Although reaching out to her seems a bit unnerving for Cassie since the former Beater player for the Holyhead Harpies is someone Cassie idolize, Cassie did not want to sound stalker-ish or even fangirling too much.
Then their mind went to AnnieJade Halstead, the girl they met during the train ride and some days ago they met on the Owlery. Cassie chuckles at how bad AJ interacts with people. "This is pointless"Cassie grumble when they reached a dead end or so it seems. Then crazy idea popped into their mind. Professor Jensen never limited who they can send the letter to.
Cassie smirks when they unscrewed their ink bottle and dipped their quill into the ink. It seems conceited but they will thank themselves when they found the letter again in the foreseeable future.
They leaned back on the wooden chair and re read their note for themselves. Their cursive handwriting looking back at them. Once Cassie satisfied with what they wrote. They blow it so the ink will dry faster. Once the ink dried, Cassie fold the parchment and slipped it into the black envelop. On the front face of the letter, they wrote 'Open this when you remember that you wrote this years ago' in gold lettering.
With the last letter done, Cassie gathers their belonging and walk out from the library.

[font=Monotype Corsiva]Dear Future Me,
When you found this letter, a lot have had happened in your life. Whether it is a bad or good thing, you must be grateful for it. It build you as a person. I hope whatever you wish to become (whether it is be an Auror like Father or be a Healer like Mother or something else, will come true as long as you have ambition and drive for it).
Up until this day, you owe me (your past young selves) that when you attend Hogwarts, you found your people. The people that always by your side no matter what. The people that you care (shocker, I know) and who cares for you. That kind of people that you need to hold on to and you will cherish them.
Your pride often times will get in the way but if you wrong then you wrong. There is nothing wrong to say sorry first. You need to forgive your Father, Cash. Albeit whatever he done to you, he only want what best for you. Be the bigger person. Remember always be the bigger person. Sometimes it is not an easy thing to do but I believe you can do it.
Never lost your true self, no matter what. Being you is the amazing and best thing you can be.
From your younger self,
Phoenix Cassandra

Love Note Leavers
Word count: 473-------☆-------When Claudia walked into the library she immediately blushed. She was there for the “Love Note Leavers” errand and was ashamed that she would participate in something so flowery. Despite the name, Claudia was interested. She hadn’t written to her parents in forever and they were probably worried sick about her. As she looked around, she saw - interestingly enough - that there were many students sitting at tables writing for the errand. Boys and girls alike paused and wrote as the young students put their quills to parchment.
As she walked by, Claudia spotted a group desks that were there for privacy. Her shoulders suddenly sunk down as she relaxed. At least no one would know that it was her writing. She plopped down at one of the private desks. Her eye skimmed the various writing supplies. Should Claudia use the glitter sprinkled all over the surface? No, too... glittery. She settled on a simple quill and deep, dark purple ink.
Claudia sighed and put her head in her hands. The last sentence of the letter shook her. The words Is that how everyone sees me? echoed in her head. Her head feeling heavy, she folded up the letter and pushed it off to the side.Emmelynne Gears,
I don’t know exactly where to start. At the beginning I guess? Well, that’s where everyone starts I figure. I guess I could just start at me. Simple, awkward me. The Claudia you gave birth to.
However rude this may seem, I don’t miss home. I don’t miss you or my annoying brothers. It’s weird I guess. I just don’t feel it. It seems as if i don’t feel anything. Love, I guess, is a simple equation. Yet, I cannot solve that one equation. It’s been there all my life, all the time. The answer should be clear. Easy. But it’s not. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Emmelynne, what’s wrong with my mind? I can’t even bring myself to call you mother. I feel no love for you or Mack.
Home isn’t my home. Left isn’t right. It’s simple, a fact. My brain thinks the library is my home. A book, a simple book is my parent. Not you. My brain says it isn’t you. It’s like I don’t even live on the earth. Am I in a different universe? Is that how you see me?
Is that how everyone sees me?
I mean, I’m only writing this as an errand anyway. This desire that you think is going on - the desire to write, speak to you - isn’t real. I can’t apologize enough. Even though I write, I feel no emotion. For you. For me. I feel like a robot.
Is that how everyone sees me?
Your daughter, don’t forget,
Claudia-------☆-------

Love Note Leavers
Alaska found herself in the library, staring at the little section that had been converted into a letter writing area. Chewing on the corner of her lip she decided to grab some parchment and pull her quill out, sitting down in a more cozy part of the library- more secluded and private. Setting her books aside and setting up her quill and ink, she stared down at the blank parchment in front of her. Who should she write too? Sighing she decided her brain would decide quicker for her if she just set the quill on the piece of paper.
Just as she had suspected, once the quill hit the paper the words started to flow. She looked over the words once more and smiled. Her parents would be happy to hear from her and honestly, Alaska felt a lot better having written as well. She quickly peaked her head up and noted Professor Jensen. Was this her idea? It was a rather lovely idea. She hadn't actually spoken a lot to any of the professors. Her eyes went back down toward the paper in front of her. She had extra parchment, so perhaps she would write another letter to somebody?Dear Mum & Dad,How are you two? I'm fine. I know you both aren't fully aware of what happens in the wizarding world, but I also know you'll both still be excited to hear that I was placed in Gryffindor! We're lions, and our colors are a deep red with golden accents! So far its been, well, magical! (Pun definitely intended!) My classes have been just as great as they were before, well no, they're better! Wow there's so much I wish I could show you guys!
I plan to bring home lots of gear to decorate my room with my house colors when I get back! Perhaps an extra scarf for Lucky? How's he doing by the way? Has Aaliyah come over and asked anything about me yet? Wow, I'm bombarding you with a lot of questions aren't I?
Well, regardless I love you both and I hope everything is going great! Please remember to take care of my cactus plant, I don't want Snowflake to be dead when I get back. It's really hard to kill a cactus so I'll be surprised if Mother manages to do that.
Love & Miss you,
Alaska Hawke
P.S Just hand your letter to the owl, they'll know where to bring it.
