1) At this point in the school year, Dido is not thinking at all clearly about people (especially Ravenclaws) and while everything said is true in her own belief, she is often very wrong/skewed.
2) Apologies for the poor writing - sleep is getting the better of me!
At long last, Dido finally felt the ground shift beneath her feet for the last time as she made it across the path and onto the other side. She was, of course, utterly drenched by the previous couple of falls but, in the warmth of the evening glow, it was relatively pleasant, especially given her position of not in the water. Squeezing the water from her hair for what felt like the millionth time, Dido glanced around at her group, cheerfully saying, “Wasn’t too bad, was it?” She then smiled at her room-mate, the fittingly angelic Angel, and added, “It was actually quite fun, to be honest,” in a low voice.

This joviality, which was such a contrast to Dido’s earlier ire, did not last long as, soon enough, they were met by the next obstacle and, impacting Dido more, Tina’s reaction to the next obstacle. It was wonderfully, teeth-grindingly, brain-meltingly perfect.

Guys, we’re at Queen Red’s Palace,” the Ravenclaw announced first. Dido felt her happiness shift into one of annoyance almost as soon as the words left Tina’s mouth. “I’m not oblivious,” she whispered inaudibly, a bitter edge creeping back into her tone. It’s odd how quickly someone’s thoughts can shift. Though, in Dido’s case, it was perhaps more likely that these thoughts hadn’t truly left earlier from earlier in the evening.

While Dido was self-aware enough to register the utter wrong-ness of her statement, Tina’s next observation, or helpful observation, left her no room to make allowances for Tina (even if they were deserved).

Now I may or may not be the only person who’s read the entire series but…

Dido spun on her heel, shock evident on her face. Tina wasn’t the only smart one there! How dare she- she… how? Dido hadn’t actually read the books, her hatred towards reading having prevented her from even considering the classic children’s novel when she was younger, but that fact was conveniently forgotten in her silent outrage.

Gritting her teeth, Dido managed to force herself to turn away from the Ravenclaw, and towards the others, seeing what they were doing. She considered taking her wand out again but, recalling the mortification that had come with learning any spells in DADA or Charms, she hastily shoved it back into her pocket. Ignoring the cries of spells around her, Dido picked up a large enough looking rock from the ground and, aiming it right at the top of the gate to hopefully knock it down, she hurled it, entirely ungracefully, towards the wood.

The moment my feet hit solid ground on the other side, I didn't celebrate.
Didn’t react. Didn’t care. But hoped that people would be too absorbed with the rest of the tasks.

The only thing I noticed was that the axe had stopped. Great. I glanced up briefly: Angel and Jada holding it in place like it was nothing., “Took long enough” I muttered under my breath, not enough for anyone to hear, wringing the last bit of water from my sleeve, “Ugh. I'm all wet” I complained
Then we moved on.

The path led us forward, between trimmed hedges and marble arches until we heard... voices
Quite loud may I add, “Intruders!”
I stopped walking, unphased. Slowly, my gaze lifted to the walls.
Wow. Cards. Very Wonderland of Hogwarts. I wonder what the budget was for this, “…Right. So anyway” I said unimpressed about to intrude forward before I got interrupted, “LOWER THE GATE!”

The door slammed down in front of us with a heavy metallic ending. I didn’t flinch but they sure wanted to be performative.
For a moment, I just stared at it.
The 5 glowing targets, “So we break it.” I said simply, it was pretty obvious.
It didn't require overthinking like I bet the birbs here would do.
And I was right, Tina started talking again, "Guys, we’re at Queen Red’s Palace. Now I may or may not be the only person who’s read the entire series but um....If we’re found our heads will be chopped off so isn’t that fun!" well no shit Sherlock.
Useless contribution
I rolled my eyes
Jada already moved, wand out, casting, “Flipendo!” I smirked with a nod of approval
It seemed like a clean hit. Tina followed with the same spell, I wonder why. Seemed less clean to me.
Then Angel hit another spell, a different one, "Jaculor!", promising, maybe.

I watched the impacts carefully, watching where the spell landed on the targets.

My eyes flicked to the glowing hearts again, getting my wand out of my bun, "Incendio" I casted

The Red Queen's Labyrinth Group 8
ROUND 6 MOD POST
(Group EIGHT)

Image posted by the member

At last, the energetic Group 8 has finally arrived at the final obstacle! However, with the gate standing in their way, a daunting final challenge stood between them and their victory over the Red Queen's formidable security system.

Remaining calm and recalling her knowledge of effective duelling techniques, Jada Blake confidently cast the Knockback Jinx. It was a success, landing the spell right on the gate! Unfortunately, despite the successful spell, the wall was left unscathed without damage due to its inanimate nature! Tina Carille, inspired by her teammate's action, also cast a Knockback Jinx of her own. The spell was successful, but it received a similar result to Jada's spell.

Angel Dayes, a little drained from the adventure that the Red Queen took the poor group on, decided to fish out her wand and cast the Shooting Spell to help the group's endeavour. However, perhaps due to her weariness, her wand remained unresponsive to her incantation, and no effects came of the spell.

Dido Bleaklane decided to take an alternative action to her teammates, opting for a sturdy rock instead of her wand. Hurling it with all of her might, the rock made for a decent projectile, landing a hit on the wall and making it jiggle from the impact! The jiggling was accompanied by the flickering of a red heart into dull grey.

Tes Cadell decided against following the example of Jada and Tina, and whipped out her wand to cast the Fire-making Spell instead! Despite her clear incantation, flames surged backwards instead of forward at her target. Fire immediately swallowed Tes's casting hand and down her arm, setting her robes ablaze. The fire was intense, seemingly difficult to extinguish. Could it be that the Slytherin had lost focus during her spell?

It made me mad. That everyone thought that I was trying to show EVERYONE that I was smarter than them. Because that's not true. I was honestly just hoping I could be some help. Because I wasn’t helping very much. I looked over at Dido who was throwing a rock. I looked at her with a questioning look. As if to say, “You’ve got a wand dummy! USE IT!” But she was the only one who did real damage. She seemed like such a nice girl, smart too! Just...She didn’t really use her brains much. I looked over at Angel who was casting Jaculor. That was smart. Using the shooting spell. Maybe Flipendo wouldn’t cut it? I was right, Jada and I had done Flipendo and it didn’t do anything. They were both good spells that actually worked though and that disappointed me. OF COURSE! The gate wasn’t really a person or an inmate object! The third year didn’t do anything (typical for him but WHY? He knew the most!) And Angel’s Jaculor and Tes’s Incendio failed. I probably created stress and I wanted to shrink back into the rose bushes. I took some inspo from Angel. Jaculor. I wasn’t about to pick a measly rock off the floor of course. Jack-u-lore. I thought, desperate to help the group. So with a lot of false confidence I said, ”Jaculor!” I did the spell and heard someone open their mouth to speak...

What disdain. Just great, the spell didn't work. Tes didn't seem to listen now she was ablaze. Outright outlandish and very hard headed. Now she needed to clean her mess. Extinguished.

"Extinguo." she said clearly pointing her wand at the Snake's robe.

"Ms.Cadell, I suggest using your head or you will burn." she says with disdain

As she pointed her hope was the spell would work or else she will suffer from burns. Which would not be good and will take down the whole group out. If the spell wouldn't work then Cadell would have to go do it herself. She would still have the patience to assist but helping yourself would be more effective and efficient. Angel stepped back a bit to see if her own wand will work on her favour. Being tired is not a option especially when their so close to finishing this labyrinth. She was beginning to feel a different wind, one that for her was a breath of fresh air.

"I also suggest using your wand. I thought you would know that yourself. Your independent aren't you?" she remarked

Tina did something and it worked that was fine.

"The rest of you who don't need assistance please continue to take down this wall." she said critically

Angel was scavaging anything that could help. She could only use one spell right now. No one was being left to the labyrinth. If people think acting smart and doing things themselves will be effective then they would find themselves wrong. This activity is where everyone should take their place and do in their part.

Unfortunately, her first spell hadn’t worked. It didn’t matter why, all she knew was that it didn’t do anything to the wall in front of them. Angel and Tina’s spells hadn’t done anything to help either, leaving only Dido’s spell to have had any effect at all.

Tes had attempted to set the wall on fire, casting incendio at it. The wall didn’t seem too enthusiastic about this idea and sent the spell right back at her. As a result Tes had been set alight in a great blaze of orange flames.

She pointed her wand at Tes, attempting to put out the fire but Angel was faster. She send a stream of silver mist towards the flames. Of course, Angel couldn’t keep her mouth shut for a moment and had to make a completely unhelpful comment.

”Yeah no shit Sherlock,” she added bitterly in response to Angels words “And if you were burning I don’t think your wand would be your first priority.”

Determined to still make herself useful, she turned her attention back towards the wall. Not wanting to burn herself like Tes, she refrained from using incendio and, for lack of originality, sent another small rock hurtling out of her wand

1) At this point in the school year, Dido is not thinking at all clearly about people (especially Ravenclaws) and while everything said is true in her own belief, she is often very wrong/skewed.
2) I don't know why Dido is getting so melodramatic
Dido’s rock hit the wall and, with a small smile, she noticed one of the wall’s hearts disappear. She turned to the others and-

What was that look? What was that stupid Ravenclaw trying to say?

Dido’s grin fell as she tightened her fists and clenched her jaw, eyes narrowing in defiance at Tina’s strange, challenging look. It had worked. Unlike any of their pointless spells. She took a couple steps back, a new, triumphant smirk beginning to appear on her face, almost expecting the others to turn back to her and beg for her forgiveness for their judgement towards her method of attack. Unsurprisingly, no one obliged with her vision and she was left standing somewhat awkwardly behind them. It was only then that she realised Tes, the cold snake, was not so chilly anymore, as the girl seemed to be on fire. Luckily, the Slytherin’s prior dip in the water seemed like it was stopping the flames well enough, especially when combined with Angel’s attempts to douse the flames.

She lifted another stone, ready to throw it back at the wall.

I also suggest using your wand. I thought you would know that yourself. You’re independent aren't you?

Dido couldn’t tell whether Angel’s comment was directed at her or not but, either way, her blood boiled in response to this blatantly unfair statement from Angel, of all people. The girl she saw as one of her few allies in this mis-matched team had practically betrayed her with those words alone, critiscing her efforts.

Dido almost turned her wrist to face the girl, considering tossing the rock at Angel instead of the gate, reminded of how that seventh year beater had instantly knocked the Hufflepuff chaser off her broom in the most recent Quidditch game. She almost released it. Almost.

Thankfully, Jada’s well-timed sarcasm prevented Dido from an early end to the evening through a detention. Dido again looked away from the other girls and instead hurled a slightly larger rock at the gate, acting as though she somehow hadn’t even noticed their spells, words or how Tes had somehow caught aflame.

ROUND 7 MOD POST
(Group EIGHT)

Image posted by the member

Perhaps if the girls had realised what this troublesome Labyrinth would have in store for them, they would have reconsidered joining, because one thing was certain: The Red Queen (and the puppeteers pulling her strings) must pay for this stress, and there was only one weakened barrier remaining before they could take her down for good!

Determined to utilise her magic effectively, Tina Carille steeled her resolve and decided to cast Jaculor. With added emphasis on her words and a great deal of paper confidence, her spell sent a medium-sized rock colliding into the portcullis. BANG! Quivering as a dent formed in the rubbery barrier, a glowing heart flickered into dull grey.

In the face of the wall with 3 more red, glowing hearts remaining, Group 8 was left with varying levels of shaken confidence after the previous round's chaos. Angel Dayes, quick on her feet, swiftly fished out her wand and calmly cast the Extinguishing Charm on Tes before the fire could cause further injury. Fortunately, fate was sympathetic towards the poor Slytherin set ablaze, and Angel's charm whisked the fire away into wisps of thin smoke.

Jada Blake, reassured by Angel's successful Extinguo, decided to cast Jaculor herself to aid in the group's effort. The spell was a success, successfully punching a crack in the gate!

Dido Bleaklane, irked and undeterred by her fellow teammates' doubt of her daring strategy, remained resolved in her approach. With thinning patience and simmering bitterness, Angel Dayes and the other girls were barely spared from a stone to the head as Dido hurled her next rock back at the gate. With her strength, another heart was forced to fade to grey, and the crack deepened on the gate.

The end was in reach-- Go forth and charge, players!

The gate wasn’t down yet. Still. Despite Dido having thrown that stupid rock with all the force she could muster and the others seeming to have eventually gotten their acts together and successfully casted a few spells at the gate, the infuriating blockade was still up. Ignoring the others and the urge to just pull out her wand, Dido threw herself down to the ground, furiously hunting for a rock of sufficient size with which she could knock down the gate. The first was too small, the next three too smooth, the next far too flat to be worth throwing.

“Come on,” Dido hissed, hastily picking up rock after rock, judging each to be insufficient for her aims. At last, she found the perfect one: a heavy, round rock with jagged edges. “Yes!” Dido leapt up, a mad grin stretched across her face. Raising the rock, she pulled her arm back and hurled it with all her strength, right into the centre of the gate.

As the rock hit (assuming because no acc v evasion rolls made), she glanced around at the others, triumph etched onto her features. Triumph over them.

However, instead of meeting the gaze of awe-struck students, Dido was faced with an almost shocked expression belonging to that Ravenclaw, Tina. The look hit Dido, hurting her with its apparent pure cruelty. Dido frowned, the joy fading from her face as quickly as it had appeared.

“What? Not good enough for you?”

With Dido's final sturdy throw of a rock, the once-steady and strong portcullis quivered as if it were a dried leaf in a whirlwind. With one final grunt of steel bending, it collapsed in a heap of dust backwards, creating an entrance into the palace at last!

“No, NOOOO! Curse you all, I’ll be back!”

A shrill voice hollered out as it faded into the distant, leaving sweet bird song and the relieved chitters of woodland creatures in its wake.

Upon entry, past the gatehouse, players would be greeted by a ray of gentle, welcoming light from the sun, enveloping their entire surroundings. Upon opening their eyes, they would find themselves in the grand interior of a throne room. Walking deeper into the room, players would see a now-vacant golden throne sitting atop the elevated platform. Then, sizzling– SQUEAK! Like a balloon animal at a party, the throne squeaked and squirmed before splitting itself into 6 thrones! (Unfortunately, you cannot take this home...

A giant painted banner decorated with each card suit rolled down from the ceiling, displaying itself behind the throne. On it, written in bold red letters, is: 'CONGRATULATIONS! Vermilion rose petals rained from above. Amazing work, players!
