Sighting a mythical creature Closed

The piercing cry shot through Kaegen's body like a metaphorical knife. His body was screaming at him to run deeper into the forest, he was light, quick and knew that he could probably make it out alright. But that girl, her movement was too crisp, too sharp. She made noise, would probably stumble, Or worse. But then again, she hadn't looked worried, maybe she would be fine.
In the instant it took Kaegen to think that through, he also made up his mind. It was the principle of the thing. Even if she would be just fine without him, if he ran away he didn't think he could let himself be forgiven. He had made up his mind, and would be betraying himself more than anyone else if he didn't do something.
He had help, please let them help. Turning, he seemed to shoot across the ground, moving as fast as his legs would go. And his legs moved fast. This was the one thing he was good at, really good at. His arms slipped inside of his robe, empty sleeves flapping behind him as he found what he was looking for. His arms came out of his sleeves, holding a salamander in his hand. Please, please let vortigern know what to do. Please, please let him help...
If vortigern could identify the threat, and decide he wanted to help, the acidum salamandra imperium could spit acid. It was far better than any spell Kaegen had. He still didn't even know what made the sound, but it was so close to the girl, the girl who probably didn't know what to do.
He reached out his arms to grab the girl and run back out of this place. He was strong enough, she didn't seem too heavy.
Almost there.

Sky had felt the cry deep in her bones she was certain it wasn’t a cry of anger or even fear but one of pain. She stood frozen her mind racing a bit more than she wanted it to do in that moment she caught a small glimpse of what made the sound it was not what she had seen earlier no it was bigger but not too big to not have a predator that would hunt it down. Predator Sky had wished she didn’t think of that word in that moment the fear of something could be hunting these beautiful creatures made Sky’s heart squeeze with sadness. Finally shaking her mind out of the terror she was in she noticed her cards had fallen from her hands onto the ground, she had not meant to make a squeaking noise when she noticed them there. But it wasn’t just them being on the ground, but the card that had shown up that she knew what the deck had wanted to tell her. The Moon it did have its good meanings in reversed, but sadly the card had not been in reversed it was smack dab in the middle upright completely. The Moon is the unknown, the scary things that go bump in the night that Sky cannot see, and the projection of fear. She had heard the thing coming closer to her. Just as Sky scrabbled to gather her cards quickly off the ground, she had spotted the boy running, reaching into his sleeves to which he produced a Salamander. But the rest was a bit of a blur, she felt the boy grab her and in a rush they were almost out of the forest.

Right in front of him, on the path was a bright light. The shining single eye of something waiting, waiting for Kaegen to come out of the forest holding that other girl. He wasn't worried much. He knew how to deal with this. Don't turn, or slow down. If you do, it will get you. Guaranteed. This may or may not work, depending on what one-eyed creature it was, but Kaegen closed his eyes, desperately trying to preserve his precious night vision before he was completely blinded. He had to be able to see later, he was not going to let this creature stop him. Putting, if possible, and extra burst of speed into his run, he headed straight for the light. At the very, very last second, Kaegen jumped up into the air, sticking his feet in front of him. The combined weight of the two students came barreling in to the form, two feet making solid impact. Going past the eye and hitting the form behind it. Odd, it's eye was on a stalk, a stalk that looked a lot like a wand. But no matter. As soon as he hit ground, he would run some more. Keep running until he made it back to hogwarts. It was odd that there was a one eyed creature outside of the forest itself. The professors should be keeping this area safe, shouldn't they? He looked briefly at the girl he was still carrying. How was she doing?

The blur of movement continued to approach and Clary took a tentative step back, hearing a continuous rustling in the forest. The sound of heavy footsteps pounding against the forest floor was soon accompanied by the sound of heavy panting from what sounded like a student, clearly in a state of panic. The blur continued to approach, faster now, and unfortunately, for herself, did not see the small Ravenclaw girl that was Clary north, standing at the edge of the forest. Before she knew it, she felt solid impact as the student barreled into her. Clary went tumbling to the ground, accidentally tripping Kaegan, and thus, Skye, as well as he attempted to make his escape.

Stars swimming in her vision, Claryssa struggled to breathe, feeling a bruise already begin to form from the rough impact. What had just happened? She felt the itchy grass beneath her back and the cool, biting wind from the wintery air. Up above her, a few clouds floated by lazily. The day looked so beautiful, yet she did not feel very beautiful at the moment. The Ravenclaw girl managed to roll herself over to her stomach, using her forearms to push herself up into a sitting position. She blinked back the spots that accumulated in her vision and tried to keep her head on straight, grasping blindly for her wand as she assessed the situation at hand.

Sky had certainly thought the time had fast forward or maybe it stopped all together. She was being carried pretty hastily out of the forest in which she and the boy were just in after she had some small recollection of everything but what she did remember vividly was the boy looking at her as soon as both of them made it out of the forest. She felt a sense of relief to be fair that they both made it out, but was mostly concerned with what stood in front of them as they continued their path which seemed to be a girl.

Before Sky could manage to cry out for the boy to stop the two of them smashed right into the girl. With a sickening thud and then all three of them was airborne hitting the ground with thankfully not much of a solid impact Sky managed to roll out from the boy grip and smack into a nearby stump. Sky felt dazed of course, but her main concern was the two before her sitting up quickly which proved to be a mistake.

She tried her hardest to focus on them the girl looked to be a Ravenclaw and she was with Sky probably in much more pain from having the two barrels into her. Sky wanted to get up, but felt sitting would have to do for now she was feeling the words surge up into her throat and before she could stop herself, she blurted out the words that should have come out after she checked on everyone.
“I’m sorry” Sky knew it was pointless at this point in time to say “sorry” but she genuinely felt sorry for all problems she caused within the last few minutes that happened. She felt sorry she had caused the creature to stir in the forest and finally for smacking into the girl.

Clary's head spun painfully, and she had to bite her tongue for a moment in an attempt to re-orient herself. Growing up, she'd had her fair share of bumps and bruises between her clumsiness and play-fighting with James and Mari, but there was a difference between accidentally getting elbowed in your side by your sister and getting mauled down by a pick-up truck. She tried to stay still, focusing on her breathing, and slowly batted her eyes open, turning her head ever-so-slightly to gaze over at the girl with a head full of bushy, flaming orange hair. She offered what she thought may look like a smile as an apology, probably appearing to be more in pain than anything else.

"It's fine... I just need a moment." She forced a laugh and immediately regretted it, the action sending sharp stabs of pain up her side. Clary may be bumped and bruised, but she knew she'd live to tell the tale; she was more curious about what the two were running from, and if whatever it was could end up catching up with them if they didn't move quickly. "What was the panicked running about? I came to investigate but I guess that backfired..." 

Yes, it really had backfired. Not only had she failed at helping the fleeing students- one of which was apparently Kaegan, as she glanced over in his direction!- but she'd also successfully knocked them all down onto the hard-packed ground and gotten herself injured. Way to go, Clary.

Kaegen had hit the ground really hard. It hurt, a lot. But he managed to roll over, and look at where the creature should have been. A slingshot, gleaming black whipped into his hand, as well as a single smooth stone. With astonishing fluidity, the kind that only comes with years of practice, Kaegen pulled back the rubber and aimed into the inky night.
But all he saw was that nice girl he knew, claryssa. She was still on the ground and looked really hurt. This was completely his fault. He didn't even know what they had found in the forest back there. He had been expecting the worst, his nerves had been worn down having to listen to that other girl walk so crisply and sharply across the sticks and leaves of the barely visible path.
He stood up. Hurt, but not badly enough to hinder him standing. Claryssa probably got a lot more damaged than he did. He had been trying to hurt her, after all. "Sorry about that, I couldn't see through your bright spell." He hoped that would count as a decent apology. It was all he could think of, a simple apology and a basic explanation. It felt kind of half-baked, considering he just ran her over. "I can carry you to the hospital wing?" There, an offer to help. That was better.
On the bright side, the girl he had gone to the forest with didn't seem that hurt. Silver linings and all that.

Clary's head still spun, but the world managed to re-align itself at least half-way. Instead of everything spinning, it just looked tilted at this point! She let out a soft gasp, trying to sit up in a normal position once again, and winced at the bruises. She wasn't exactly in that great of a position to walk, but she also didn't want to make Kaegan do anything for her. Clary was still a bit hurt after their time in the study room the other day when he and Kendra had rambled on about the superiority of purebloods, only James' calm and collective words and convenient distracting her preventing the situation, or Clary's emotions, from escalating out of control. Kaegan seemed nice enough at times, but he could just be so oblivious-

Speaking of oblivious, he technically was the one who ran right into her, and she wasn't so sure if she should trust him to help her get anywhere. Declining the offer, Clary attempted to stand and immediately fell back down, her head spinning once again as she regretted the decision. She was fine... she'd just need to wait a bit and try again. "I'm fine," she replied, a sorry excuse for a lie. He'd just seen her stand up and fall straight back down on the ground. Clary closed her eyes, at least halfway in a sitting position, as she supported herself by leaning against her arms, and tried to prepare herself to walk again. The infirmary wasn't too far away. Only a few floors. Only a few meters to reach the building. She was fine.

He stared hard. This was weird. Like, really weird. He quickly reviewed what facts he had.
1. He had been going really, really fast
2. He had hit claryssa really, really hard.
3. She was not able to stand up
4. She said she was alright
1-3 would make him believe that she needed help. All the evidence pointed to it. But 4 discounted all of them. Was she wrong? Kaegen thought to his grandfather, he would know more about this than, oh yeah! Kaegen smiled a bit, he had left out fact number 5 and 6!
5. concussions would make people loopy
6. There was another girl here too, she probably needed help as well.
He was feeling pretty good about it all, actually. Standing up, he bolted back into the woods, a swift arrow with a trailing scarf. Grabbing two longish sticks from the woods, he slipped out of his robes. He was wearing a leather shirt and pants underneath. The leather shirt seemed almost entirely consisting of belts, straps, strips and containers that hung from him, were strapped to him and seemed to make up his clothing. He stuck the two sticks through his robe, making two sticks, with cloth in the middle. Picking up sky, he put her on the fabric in between the two sticks, then strapped the two ends to one of the many leather strips going around his thigh like so many belts. With sky sitting on the makeshift travois, Kaegen walked over and picked up claryssa. With any luck sky would decide to stay on, she didn't seem as hurt and could probably hang on. Little blinking eyes could be seen in the vials containers and boxes strapped to Kaegen. Potions, odd plants, rocks and everything else you could think of that someone might find in nature. A shining knife was strapped to one arm, a black slingshot to another. It looked like some child had taken his collection of neat things and creatures off of his shelf and simply strapped it to himself. It was a feat in itself, carrying all that without spilling it all everywhere.
Pulling one girl on a travois and carrying the other one was certainly not easy. But it could be done, if he just focused on taking one step in front of the other. Concussions had to be treated soon, he knew that.
