After weeks of planning, it was finally time to lift the cover and show off the wooden stand that had taken up all of the two Slytherins’ time. With the help of some magic and teamwork, a proper and functional love booth was now set up against the brick wall of the workshop building on the campgrounds. The air was chilly, as was expected during the last weekend before winter break, but Milica came well prepared. Her outfit consisted of a white button-up covered by a soft, woolen sweater. The sweater was of a burgundy color: the color of love, in her signature dark style. Her legs were covered by multiple layers of thick thighs and a black skirt that fell right above her knees. Around her neck, a thick Slytherin scarf could be found. Lastly, Milica wore a long, black woolen coat that covered her outfit only partly. If anyone were to get cold, it wouldn’t be her.

The booth radiated new chances and warmth in the snowy campgrounds. Multiple torches were lit for interested students to easily find their way over to the booth, which also provided warmth. The comfort of her clients to be didn’t really matter to Milica, but students freezing on their way over would be bad for business. The booth itself was painted in a Dark Chestnut-like color, with red letters painted on the top plank spelling out LOVE BOOTH. Hanging from the top plank, a little sign could be seen reading out the tariffs. One minute of consultation cost 1 galleon. Additionally, students could rent comfy and warm quilts to keep them warm during the session for only 20 galleons. It was clear the two Slytherins were unwilling to undersell themselves. This pricing seemed to be just perfect: not too much, not too little.

The rest of the stand looked like a typical booth with a little counter-like opening which could be closed with a curtain, the color of which matched the letters painted on the plank above. The curtain would provide the clients with a limited amount of privacy when needed. One of the sides of the booth had an opening which the person who was first in line could enter for a personal two on one session of love advisory. This opening was once again covered with a curtain, this one matching the color of the rest of the booth. Milica looked the booth over one last time before looking at the front curtain and nodding towards the older Slytherin. “I'm all ready. You can open the curtain if you want to.” she told him with determination evident in her voice.

If her assumptions were correct, word of the booth opening today was already spread around the students of Hogwarts. She didn’t do this herself: no, she asked her poor roommate to enthuse other students to come to the campgrounds starting 10 AM to receive certified love advice. If words spread as fast through the castle as she thought they would, the two love advisors would have their hands full today. No students had gathered in line yet, but it was only a matter of time. In only one hour, Milica expected the campgrounds would be filled with little students eagerly awaiting their personalized love advice. Whether one needed help with a specific issue, required general dating tips or wanted to find their perfect match, one visit to the Love Booth would surely fix all of their problems.

No matter how great the idea of opening the Love Booth may have been, Milica wasn't exactly looking forward to interacting with people. She expected Prat would do most of the actual advising. Her role would be to portray the bad cop who strikes fear into the clients in order to convince them to stay longer and spend more of their money. This would prove to be a magnificent plan: the two students would be rich in no time. All that was left to do now was to wait for students to get in line. As clients reached the front of the line, they would be invited into the booth and prompted to state their queries. Well, she didn’t know about Prat, but she was all done with her mental preparation. Here’s to hoping this goes well.

The grand day had finally arrived and for perhaps in a while longer than he'd remember, Prat was indulging dangerously close to excitement. Weeks of planning, structuring and refining the idea; yet none of it rushed. Every inch of the booth, the decisions that came with it and the small adjustments along the way had been made with intent; And now it stood.

Prat had teamed up with a fellow Slytherin—Milica Vranekova, a first year with a mind far more attuned to entrepreneurship than most would expect at her age. Together, the snakes had constructed something that was farm more than a mere booth. It was an opportunity, a controlled experiment and a system built to capitalize on one of the most volatile and poorly managed aspects of a student's life; their relationships.

Love, as most knew, was messy. Prat fully intended to fix that, if not, he could at the very least profit from it.

The cold winds that morning were sharp, biting at exposed skin, but Prat had anticipated worse. Overpreparation was never a flaw, only insurance. His white button-up was an expensive enchanted article of fashion that retained it's warmth and kept him comfortable. A small brooch, shaped like a heart rested near his chest, an intentional detail for the sake of optics, for presentation.

His dress pants were neatly pressed, paired with dark chelsea boots that made soft sounds against the ground as he approached the booth. A pair of glasses rested on his face, concealing his eyes just enough to hide the lack of sleep. Slung over his shoulder was a bag filled with snacks, parchment and a few other essentials. All for sale of course.

As he arrived, his gaze immediately assessed the setup in all it's glory.

Milica was already in position, her burgundy sweater did not go unnoticed. Intentional, thematic and effective all the same. The Slytherin scarf was just enough for the house spirit, Prat loved signs of slytherin house. Good. Prat appreciated the competence she brought with herself. The booth stood exactly as they'd envisioned it. Polished enough to catch the torchlight and provide a sense of comfort, luxury, a welcoming grace in such harsh winds. The lettering above, "LOVE BOOTH" was bold without being excessive.

The torches lining the path were a particularly strong touch, not for the comfort they'd provide, if they provided any to begin with. But they'd been placed for direction. Humans followed light instinctively, especially in cold conditions. It was all about guiding them. Their comfort, ultimately, was a secondary thought. But if they could see the booth would offer warmth, physical or otherwise, they were sure to pay a visit. and once they came, they'd stay.

And once they stayed, they would be deep enough to pay.

Prat's eyes flicked briefly to the tariff sign. A galleon for a minute of their time, Twenty for the quilts.
Reasonable, just expensive enough to establish value, but not so much that it would discourage participation. A balance many failed to achieve. The curtains were placed with purpose as well. Privacy, or the illusion of it. People were more willing to expose their problems if they believed they weren't being watched. And in matters of the heart, perception mattered far more than reality.

As he fully stepped into position, Prat allowed himself a moment to take it all in, this was going to work. Not because there were executing a novel idea, but because their execution was proper. His attention shifted as Milica spoke, "I'm all ready and you can open the curtain if you want to." Of course she was.

Prat gave her a small not, more to himself than her, before he stepped forward. Hand reaching for the curtain, his fingers brushed against the fabric only for a moment before he pulled it aside in one clean motion. The outside came into view, and with it— A line.

It wasn't massive or overwhelming, but it was present, forming and looking to grow bigger soon. His lip's curved into satisfaction. His gaze moved across the students, observing them rather than acknowledging. Different houses, expressions. Nervous, curious, expectant. Some whispered things among themselves with other stood in awkward silence.

Demand would increase exponentially.

"We're open." he said, enough weight in voice to reach the front and back of the queue. "Please maintain your decorum. You'll be attended to eventually."

They were already here, now the rest was about control. He's play his role, she'd play her role and with that, together, they'd make a lot of money. Love, for all its unpredictability, followed patterns. Behaviour, reactions and such, if you understood those, you could certainly map them, guide them even. Worse, you could influence the outcome.

Prat exhaled slowly, A long day ahead, a profitable one.

xxxxxxxxx𝕿he month of October had overturned Violence Bloodthorn’s life once again, and not for the better. She had barely gotten her old self back, the one yet to be tainted by Azzure Solace, but she had made the grave mistake of forgetting that this was Azzure. How the beautiful night of the ball had turned into something disastrous, Violence did not know. Pretty pearls and shimmering moonlight deformed into blackouts and deep cuts. Violence could still feel the sting on her finger, even though the wound had long healed. However, there was no escaping the situation and once again, she found herself wondering if Azzure would ever come back. Nothing about this felt right to Violence, but then again, it did not feel new either. Bailing was Azzure’s thing. There was nothing she could do and she had decided that she would not let it ruin her mental peace again.

Yet, it took her some time to regain her composure. She was, after all, only almost twelve and was still unexposed to the harshness of emotions. By the month of December, she felt much better and Avina was surprised at the lack of dark circles under Violence’s eyes this time. The biting cold winds of the campus seemed to match the frost in her heart, and for once, she felt like she belonged. To what exactly, she did not understand, but she was happy. Every so often, she would see someone running down the corridor wearing a white hoodie and Violence’s neck would snap to see who it was. Each time she would be disappointed, but somewhere, relief washed through her body. She was not ready to face the Gryffindor again, and she had no empathy left in her to understand why Azzure had disappeared again, in the first place.

And as always, just when everything appeared to be perfectly fine, another storm would present itself, ready to ruin everything in its wake. So when after a long conversation, it was decided that Azzure would be spending Christmas with Violence in Paris, she was beyond surprised. What was even more surprising was that the albino seemed to be… happy? Dare she say excited, to be spending time with Violence. She knew Avina and Damon would be against this – only they had seen Violence break down during the summer holidays, but how was she to refuse the pretty girl standing in front of her. And Azzure seemed different this time, like maybe her life was starting to be better. Violence was not entirely sure of what had been happening in Azzure’s life but seeing her in the hospital had scared her. Seeing her happy, seeing her alive felt amazing.

This was, she decided, the perfect time to tell Azzure how she felt. No more beating around the bush, she would just tell her how she felt and then the ball would be in Azz’s court. Violence hoped Azzure felt the same way but there was always the lingering sense of fear of rejection. She could not let anything go haywire. This would have to be perfect. There had to be absolutely no scope of failure. And how did it matter that Violence was the one confessing first, right? If, by any chance, Azzure decided to leave her, at least she would not regret never articulating her sentiments.

The universe seemed to be aligned with her thoughts and Violence was thrilled when word of a ‘Love Booth’ got to her. She decided that it was worth a try, especially when it seemed to line up perfectly. She could almost say that the booth had opened just for her. Little did she know who was hosting said booth. From what she’d heard, the booth was set to open at 10 a.m. and Violence skipped down to Grounds exactly 10 minutes before opening time. She was relieved to see the booth standing there, partly afraid that this might have been merely a prank. She also was the first one there, and so she went and stood near the opening, looking down at her watch.

Violence was hesitant, she did not know what to expect. This still might be a scam after all, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Violence looked around and saw people finally gathering near the booth, lining up behind her. A voice called out to tell everybody that the booth was finally open and she was just about to look who it was but a girl with whitish blonde hair caught her eye. It was not Azzure but by the time she turned around, the person had retreated to the warmth of the booth. She sucked in a deep breath, and instantly breathed out, it really was chilly out here.

Regret washed over her, and she now questioned her choice of outfit. There was no reason to wear a tank top in this weather and she sighed. Thankfully, she had a sweater, which albeit did little to block the cold, was still better than being directly exposed to the weather. She also had her pockets full of Galleons and she definitely decided to take a quilt inside. It was quite overpriced but Violence had no intention of falling sick just two days before holidays started.

Shaking any doubt out of her mind, she walked to the entrance and pulled the curtain aside to enter and was met with a warm environment. Much better than the harsh winter outside. But as her eyes landed on the two people waiting, she stopped in her tracks. She was left dumbfounded for almost ten whole seconds. These were two people she never had imagined to be here together, first of all. But then again, she hadn’t really been keeping up with gossip around the mighty castle and was not aware if they were friends or not. She first noticed the boy, Prat Pass. A scoff left her mouth and she couldn’t stop herself from mumbling, This guy is giving love advice? Merlin, I’m doomed!”

There was nothing uneventful about the first duel she had ever moderated. As the events of said duel crossed her mind, she had half a mind to turn around. And as her gaze fell upon the younger Slytherin standing beside Prat, her resolution was almost set in stone. There was no way the Miller whatever-her-name-was girl was helping with love advice. From what she’d seen at the last ball, in the escape room, the only thing she was good at was brooding. She parted her lips to say she was probably in the wrong place but then she remembered why she was here in the first place. She rolled her eyes, groaning internally before going forward, plastering a fake smile on her face. “This is quite… surprising. Well, I’d like a quilt please, thanks,” She settled down and was about to just be straightforward about what she needed help with, but then realised who she was sitting in front of.

Violence would have to be very, very careful with how she phrased her query. There was no way she was letting her personal life become gossip for kids who had no other purpose than to joke around. She thought for a second and then spoke finally, “There is a friend… of mine who has been quite interested in this girl. She was too shy to be here herself hence why I’m here.” She let out a dry chuckle. If Prat and Miley girl had any brain cells, they would figure out in a minute that this was about herself. Still, Violence had no intention of making it clear for them. Clearing her throat, she continued, “So things had been going really well but the girl disappeared for a little- for quite some time actually. She showed up some time ago and now is actually spending Christmas with my friend.”

Violence paused for a second, scanning their faces for any sort of judgement. Knowing there was little she could do about it, she continued. “My friend has decided that she wants to just tell the girl what she feels and it is either a yes, or a no. She wanted to know the best way she could put forth her affection without it turning… awkward?” Violence hoped that people were not already aware of herself and Azzure, at least not Prat and Millie. If they did, there was no escaping being the talk of almost every table by breakfast the next morning. There was little chance of getting out of this unscathed, and all she could do was hope for the best.

XXXXXXUnsurprisingly, ever so graceful Prat Pass opened the curtain in one clean, fluid motion. The older Slytherin was still relatively unknown to her. During the short time they had worked together to set this plan in motion, she had learned that he at least wasn't as obnoxious as most other students at Hogwarts. The 'effortly elegant' aura he tried to radiate was ridiculous though, but it would only work in their favor. At least one of them had to come across friendly to their customers.

Milica couldn't help but roll her eyes upon hearing Prat addressing the growing queue. Maintain your decorum, really? A nervous chuckle escaped her mouth, silent enough that it could only be heard by people standing close to her. She took a deep breath as she heard a familiar rustle, telling her that the curtain on the side of the booth was about to open. All the time they spent preparing had led her to this moment, and she truly was ready. The dhampir managed to do a last quick outfit fix before a girl walked in.

At first, she didn't recognize the girl who walked in. She was undoubtedly beautiful: her chocolate brown hair and sharp features made Milica wonder why she even needed love advice. She didn't have to ponder for long as Milica saw the girl's mouth move, but she couldn't hear what was said. This must be the reason, she decided. The girl probably mumbles too much.

Once the girl actually spoke up, Milica finally recognized her. She's the girl from the ball. The beautiful girl not only mumbled, but from what she could remember, she was also incredibly rude. This would be an easy customer. Her flaws were already obvious, and she hadn't spoken one word yet.

Rather than inviting the girl in, the dhampir stared straight at her. She tried not to show her confusion upon seeing her first roll her eyes, and then smile. The mixed signals were not a problem to her. Even insane girls deserve help, well, as long as they pay of course. In one, sharp movement, Milica handed her a quilt, the quilt almost hitting her face. Perhaps she had to work on her.. quilt giving skills. Or not. It's not like she cared if she hit her customers. Most would probably be too nervous to call her out on it anyway.

Her intense staring continued as the customer finally stated her query. Horror showed on her face as Milica realized she was there for her friend rather than herself. There goes her master plan of pointing out all the girl's flaws. When the customer finished her question, Milica's mind started rattling.

"The best way to put forth her affection without it turning awkward..", she repeated, deep in thought. This situation could go many ways. If the girl's friend admitted her feelings to the person they like, they could be rejected, or not. This led to a 50/50 chance of heartbreak or love. Of course, Milica didn't know the friend in question. The chances could change depending on aspects like their looks or their personality. If the friend was anything like this girl, they would have to do a lot of work on their personality to increase their chances. They would be lucky if the love interest was shallow though, since their looks would work in their favor.

A 50% chance of heartbreak was high. Thinking of the best advice she could muster, she was finally able to reply confidently. "There's only one way, clearly. Your friend needs to cut all ties with them. Awkward situation avoided." Feeling incredibly proud of her amazing suggestion, a smug look spread across her face.

She wasn't the only person running the love booth however, so she looked over to Prat. Honestly, her advice seemed perfect, but the boy probably had something to add either way. Even if he didn't, it was good to have the customers stay for longer. She had to ask. "Right, Prat?"
