A Curious Encounter Abandoned

@Helle Wynne & @Lexi Rose || Private Roleplay
Was the Potions classroom always this damp? The air felt too sickening to breath in, like mold into the lungs that gasped for air that they beg so helplessly for. Or maybe it was that Helle had to push away her social malfunctioning behavior due to the ever looming issue of now associating with another wizard or witch in Potions class.

It's not world ending, at least that is what the adults, specifically Helle's father, would tell her when it was time to meet other people, or at the very worse, even speak to them. There was no tutor in little Helle's life that taught her how to be social. Helle wasn't foolish; she knew she had to learn how to simply act human when the time comes, but she never felt entirely prepared for it.

Her first interaction with anyone at Hogwarts would be a young girl by the name of Lexi Rose, according to later instructions given by the professor. At the very least to Helle's worries, she was to be paired with another girl rather than a boy. With a deep breath that overcame the damp feeling air that she mentally asserted onto herself, Helle spoke.
"Hello Lexi, I hope that we can make solid work together."
That was good, right? Helle sure hoped so because her mind was racing by the tenfold over the idea that she was going to end up the first year laughingstock for many days to come if it wasn't. Young adults tend to not be as forgiving in comparison to adults, at least in Helle's experience back home.
"Let's begin making that Boil Cure, shall we?"
At least politeness gotten one so far, right? With nervous fingers, Helle went to putting the equipment together at their designated station. She already read the textbook in almost completeness before she arrived to the school to ensure her competence in the subject. Surely the memory of the rules of the potion will subdue for now.

Lexi look around the potions classroom, excited to be there. She stares at the weird instruments and ingrediants. Then she starts paying attention to the teacher. She listens intenively to the instructions given to them. She fidgets in her lap, with her hands, watching and focusing on the teacher.

When the teacher finishes giving the instructions, she turns to Helle. "Hi It's nice to meet you Helle. I hope so too. I cant help but notice how grown up your speech is." Lexi internally cringes, thinking about how wrong and childish that sounded. Lexi realises most of what she says is very childish compared to Helle, and starts to feel a bit uncomfortable. "Sorry, that sounded rude. I did not mean it to be. I meant it like it was a good thing, something to be proud of."

"Oh yes, lets begin! I cant wait to be able to make my first successful potion!" Lexi starts to help Helle set up the equipment. "you seem to know what you are doing. I think ywe are going to be great partners. We can learn a lot from each other, and not just potions. You can teach me how to be less childish, and if you would like, i can tell you how to talk more like a child. After all we are still 11."

Lexi's voice drops to a whisper. "some of the kids here are not as nice. They may tease you for speaking like an adult. I won't though, because that is just mean. but kids can be cruel. This is just a heads up. I think you speak amazingly though! Just dont let them get to you. I am sorry if i sounded rude again." Lexi stares at her hands.

Excuse her? What made this girl think that Helle wishes to act childish? Doesn't she know that the adults would be displeased with Helle if she decides to become goofy and improper like the rest of the students around her? Helle had to bite back her tongue quickly to disregard any impolite speech in the middle of a classroom, especially that of Potions class. She couldn't afford losing any possible points for her house. The poor girl already had to suffer at the hands of older students, she didn't need the whole house of Ravenclaw to shame her as well. Instead, Helle took a more polite way of refusing the girl's offer.
"That is very kind of you, Lexi. But-"
Helle stopped her refusal when she listened further onto Lexi's discussion. Helle wouldn't admit it out loud, but shockingly, the girl was right. Most of the mocks toward Helle's character were because of her more advanced way of communicating. She should blame her English tutor for that, that bloody devil of a woman who would smack her hands with a ruler every time she spoke in a less formal tone growing up.
Helle's mouth pressed together in the midst of her thought. Learning how to blend in with the rest of the students would be beneficial to her own health and even her own father who would have to read her petty rants each letter given to him.
"You'll...teach me? Very well, this would be greatly beneficial for the both of us."
She looked down to Lexi's hands, taking obvious note that Lexi was just as nervous as her about this conversation. At least there was something beneficial from her English tutor growing up; she had to learn some social cues. She slowly made a smile towards her female partner, hoping it would die out the awkwardness that was between them.
"Thank you, Lexi. Shall we...I mean, we should get to work on this potion before we get into trouble now."
