Way Past Curfew
Nell snuck to where the brooms were kept. It was dark out and way past her curfew, but she wanted to fly.
She grabbed a broom which looked like a good fit, and proceeded o sit on it to test it. “Good,” she mumbled under her breath.
Nell walked out to an empty space were she could take off. The grass beneath her feet was wet, and the lake a good bit away reflected the dark night sky.
To be completely honest, Nell knew that she shouldn’t be outside, not alone flying. She was quite nervous that she would get caught.
Nell finally reached the spot she would take off at. She mounted her broom quietly and began to fly.
She soared high in the night sky. She swerved up and down, left and right. Her brown hair flew behind her, whipping through the wind.
Then Nell saw another flying figure. She was going to fast and she couldn’t stop in time. Crack.
Nell collided with the other figure and fell down. She must’ve been high because she felt like she was falling for several minutes.
Don’t look down. Don’t look down. Finally she hit the ground. Nell stood up and was face to face with another person.

Way Past Curfew
Wyatt couldn’t sleep. He had another nightmare, the details? None of your business.
After trying, and failing, to fall asleep multiple times, he gave up. He pushed his covers off delicately and crept out of bed. He knew it was against the rules to leave your common room past curfew, but surprisingly, the damp dungeons didn’t supply good air quality, and he needed a breather. He pulled on a dark green hoodie, quietly as to not wake any of his dormmates, and started to leave the room.
On his way out, he almost tripped on the Tone boy, who was sleeping on the floor. Again. That made him all too aware of his surroundings. Someone was snoring quite loudly, but Wyatt couldn’t tell who. As he looked around the room to find the snorer, he noticed the Faust boy, who didn’t really seem to be sleeping at all, just lying down, eyes open, looking up at nothing. Wyatt hoped he wouldn’t tell anyone, or make a fuss about it, but it didn’t seem like Selim to be obnoxious like that- something Wyatt respected- so he turned back and continued out.
“Lumos.”
He made his way through the hall, which was now illuminated by the light his wand was producing. When he heard a noise, he quickly said, “nox,” if that had been a professor, he would have been in big trouble. He noticed something about the footsteps, though. They were quick, worried- just as worried as his.
It must be another student, he thought.
He followed the noise, and it let him to the flying area, where all the brooms were. He understood why. If any normal child who cared about having fun snuck out, they’d want to fly. He was careful not to get to close and relaxed, leaning on the brick wall in the dark. He didn’t want to bring any attention to himself.
The other student- who seemed to be a girl- took a broom, kicked off, and began flying around. She was a pretty good flyer, talented, not at all like Wyatt. Though his mum was a gifted quidditch player, Wyatt wanted nothing to do with it. He was raised a muggle, knowing nothing about things like quidditch for a start. His mom had only explained quidditch weeks before he went to Hogwarts. She said she was going to be on one of the professional teams before she had met Wyatt’s dad. He felt really bad about that. His mother gave up her passion to have a family- a family that caused her loads of trouble.
Soon enough, a big bird (Wyatt didn't know what kind, he wasn't an avid birdwatcher) was flying straight towards the girl, and all Wyatt could do was watch. He stood up straight, no longer relying on the brick wall to support him, ready to help her if she fell. And she fell. Though she was up very high, it looked like it took half a second for her to hit the ground, in Wyatt’s point of view at least. He ran over, shocked, worried, frustrated. He stopped a few feet away and inched closer, slowly. “Uhm… are you okay,” he said, as quietly as he could.
