Dancing in the Moonlight
Percival stood in the center of the large open space of the Ballroom. The dancefloor that would usually be lit by the candelabras was now lit by the moonlight. The dim yet radiant light filtered through the window panes. Causing the shape of the window to be imprinted onto the floor in a blue glow.
Percival was wearing a simple black turtle neck and a pair of pants. He hoped that he hadn't dressed up too much. In all honesty, he felt like his plain black turtleneck was fairly casual. The material was still fairly thin which would hopefully keep him from getting too hot.
Things had started off pretty simply. Percival's ballroom dancing was in the best of terms rusty. It had been a good while since he had practiced. Not to mention how long it had been since he had danced with a partner. The fact of the matter was a little embarrassing, and a fact he hoped to remedy.
The evening was a pretty normal one. Percival had gone to dinner, as usual, sitting beside his roommate Hanako. Throughout the whole dinner, the boy could not get the girl he had met at the Library out of his mind. He thought she was pretty kind and she was a good teacher.
It was at that moment that Percival decided to ask if Opeila would be willing to help him. Seeing how they were in the same house it was fairly easy for him to locate her. He had waited for dinner to be over before he had gone up to ask her.
To his surprise and luck, she had agreed to come along. Percival was glad that she did agree, he didn't know if he could have dealt with the awkwardness of the situation. The boy's gaze flicked to a clock on the wall. The time read 8:30 pm, which meant that Opeila would be showing up any minute now.
Percival leaned against one of the many white-clothed tables that lined the walls as he waited for her to show.

Dancing in the Moonlight
Opeila had been positively surprised when Percival had walke up to her in the great hall and asked her to practice dancing with him. She had first been a little scared if he wanted to ask her out for the ball, she would have been forced to say no. The ball would not be an event for her to have fun.
Opeila had reacted calmly to his question. Smiled at him and agreed to meet him in the ballroom.
As soon as she had gone back to her common room, the excitement set in and the little girl had wrecked her trunk to find something to wear. What did this evening mean to him? Should she just stay in her school uniform or... put on a dress or something?
In the end she had chosen the school uniform. She would have felt silly to go through the castle in a dress, somehow. At 8.30pm she left the common room. Meaning that she was late, she was supposed to meet him by then, so she hurried through the castle, hoping that she hadn't made him wait for too long.
At 8.37 she would enter the ballroom. And immediately saw that she was underdressed. Percival had actually dressed up for this occasion. "I- I am so sorry for being late. Uhm... you look good."
Opeila would rarely ever stutter, not to mention blush, but if Percival looked close enough, he would see that her cheeks had now a brighter colour...

Dancing in the Moonlight
Percival frowned to himself as he debated on what he should do. He had checked the clock no stop for the past five minutes wondering when she would show up.
'She's late...what if you decided not to come?' he thought to himself a little stressed. Percival had never been stood up before. Especially not by a pretty girl like Opeila. The boy froze a second at the thought before. It kind of surprised him, he had never really called a girl pretty before.
Percival shook his head looking at the wall across from him. It would do him little to no good to sit around and mope.
The boy slowly stood up straight and walked towards the center of the room. He debated on just leaving but before he could think any further he looked up to see Opeila walk in.
One of the first things he noticed was that she was wearing her normal school clothes. Percival could not help the small blush of embarrassment as he realized he may have overdressed.
"You're fine. You are not that late." he said in a reassuring manner.
Percival wondered what he should say to the compliment that sounded more awkward than anything. "Thanks. I was hoping that it would help me from not getting too hot." he lied in hopes of decreasing the awkward situation.
"You look nice as well." he said with a grin.
Percival decided it might be a good idea to start their dance lesson before he embarrassed himself any further. "So I couldn't find anything that I could play music on, but I could hum the beat instead." he said giving the girl a genuine smile.

Opeila was even more ashamed when she saw how insecure Percival seemed as well. This had been not okay, she should have seen to it that she didn't let him wait.
Then her clothes. He seemed just as uncomfortable as her that they both were dressed for different occasions. Opeila had simply not thought that he had actually planned to make this a more uh... serious thing. Maybe she should have asked him, when he had approached her in the great hall. But how should she have asked him? Hey uh, Percival, what should I wear? It sounded weird in her head.
Also she had read somewhere that it was a rather suggestive thing to ask. Whatever that was supposed to mean, it sounded negative.
She smiled at him, when he said that she was not that late. And then... he almost seemed to try to find an excuse for his outfit. "I- I really like it." Awkward. With that insecure feeling she was making it all worse, this didn't have to be so weird...
Opeila now finally decided to step away from the entrance, close the door and walking more towards the center of the room.
Percival grinned and said that she looked good as well. Surprised Opeila looked down herself. "Thank you... That is my school uniform." Opeila looked up again and turned even more red. What sort of a dumb comment was that? That is my school uniform. He goes to the same school you idiot, he knows what the uniform looks like. "Right uh... You... know that.", she tried to make it less awkward. Opeila felt so embarassed, she was almost ready to run away and hide.
She was more than glad when he changed the topic. "Right! Music... How about we take turns? Maybe we can still have a conversation or something then..." What about though? Opeila's face still felt really hot, she thought that she must look like a traffic light. Of course she did not, she was red, but not as bad as she thought.

Dancing in the Moonlight
Percival honestly wished he had just decided to dress casually.
The boy had wanted to start with a good step forward. It would have been completely awkward if the girl had shown up in more formal attire.
Though that did not seem to matter as the boy was now embarrassed at the completely opposite thing.
Percival gave her a small smile as she complimented his outfit. In a way, that seemed to help a little with the burning embarrassment.
The boy's grin faltered as she brought up her outfit. "I...I knew that." he said trying to keep himself from just leaving right then and there.
The boy swallowed before nodding to the girl in front of him.
"Yeah, I'm not the best at singing, but I like to think I'm ok." he joked trying to lighten the mood.
The boy walked closer to Opeila before bowing slightly. It was a fairly formal thing to do to bow to one's partner.
Though it seemed right at that moment.
Opeila would bow back before Percival would get into a standard position for ballroom dancing.
The boy cleared his throat before starting to hum a fairly simple melody. One that the two could dance to fairly easily with little problems.
Percival led the pair to the left and then right slowly swinging them around the ball.
The tensions of the earlier interaction melted away like morning frost being met with sunlight.
The shadows of the moon played across their faces as they passed beneath the windows as they moved around the room.
Percival could not help but give the girl a small grin as he started to actually enjoy himself.
All the while they danced, Percival hummed the soft melody. He would take breaks here and there to catch his breath, but he did his best to stay consistent.
Though like all good things, it must come to an end. The boy broke away from the other in the name of a break.
Yet a quick glance at his watch told him the undeniable truth. It was exactly 20 minutes before curfew.
"Oh! We should get going." he said in a surprised voice.
Percival went straight towards the door not exactly wanting to get in trouble tonight.
Though something caused the boy to pause.
"Hey Opeila..." he said before turning to look back at the girl. The boy held the door cracked open with one hand.
"Thank you." he said simply before turning and leaving the Ballroom.
A smile stuck on his face and his face felt just a little too warm.

Thread ends with Percival leaving the Ballroom.
