Time: An hour before the Halloween feast.
Lillian was very upset in the last stall of the girls' bathroom. She had been looking forward to attending the feast, and then this had to happen. Lillian had come in to the girls' bathroom for a quick pop-in before joining the those leisurely making their way to the beginnings of the feast. She peed and wiped. It was red.
She was briefly scared, before she remembered her mother saying that periods are the ends of nests for babies. I'm a real woman now, Lillian realized. That was all fine and dandy, but how was she going to deal with it? A twelve-year-old doesn't keep lady products on her. And, even if she did how was she to know how to use them? She decided to stand in front of the toilet and wipe herself until her period was done.
It was never going to be done! Fifteen minutes, two flushes, and a half of a roll later, Lillian had begun to sniffle. She was crying into her robes softly. She wanted to cry long and loud, but she would be more embarrassed than she already was, should someone hear her. She wanted her mother. Mother would hug her and teach her how to use a pad or a tampon. Mother would beam and cry of Lillian growing up. Lillian shook out a louder sob at that. All she wanted was to attend the Halloween feast, eat, and then read while digesting the meal off. That wasn't too much to ask, was it?

Emiline loved halloween, lots of 'scary' decorations and theme of candy. She often loved these sort of events. She decided to wear a different outfit than on a normal weekend and was wearing a subtle costume of a ghost. All it involved was Emiline wearing a cream dress with her wizard cloak over the top. Subtle but not too subtle. Perfect for halloween spirit without embarrassing herself by being too much with her costume. However, as she was reading her book before the big feast, she thought she was late, so she rushed towards the Great Hall where the feast was being held. However, she slips into the bathroom beforehand and she needed to fix her hair.
She always carried around a bag with her for these sort of events. Hogwarts events weren't always the safest and often had fire, runaway animals or other types of danger. So she had started taking this bag everywhere. It had typical older girl products like make-up, toiletries and of course a hair brush. Just as she was about to brush her hair through, she heard a sniffle. Pausing her movements, she listened again and the sniffle came again.
She followed the sound to the last stall of the bathroom. Then she knocks softly. "Is everything okay in there?" She knew some people wouldn't like to share while others vented whenever the opportunity. She fell into the latter group often telling anyone she knew anything that was going on with her life.
As she waited for the girl to respond she started thinking of why a girl would be crying in the bathroom. Friendship troubles? Bad day? Bad news? It could be anything, so Emiline kept her voice calm and kind, "I'm Emiline, 3rd year, I might be able to help if you come out?" The brunette says tentatively, hoping that the other girl will come out and that she can try her best to aid her through whatever her hardships are.

Someone had heard her! Lillian gave a couple deep rattling breaths to quickly calm down, because she was trying to listen to the person behind the door. She stopped crying except for a deep breath now and then that she couldn't help. She listened to the girl--Emiline-- introduce herself and offer help, but if she came out!
Lillian couldn't do that! There was a bloody mess that she was currently wiping away, and it would go everywhere if she pulled her underwear back up and left the bathroom stall. She took another uncontrollable rattling breath just thinking of it. But, if Lillian could explain without feeling embarrassed, Emiline might have some female products on her and would be willing to let her have one.
Lillian wiped herself again but stared at the top of the toilet, trying to temporary forget her situation, so she could have less squeak and whine in her voice, when she finally did speak. "I can't..." she shakily began, but it was hardly louder than a whisper. She took a deep breath to gather her Gryffindor courage, which she was really starting to doubt, since further learning about the houses, she seemed more like a Ravenclaw.
"I can't," she said more audibly this time, "come out, because... because... I, well... I'm an official woman now and I don't know how to deal with it!" The news just forced its' way out of her mouth and now she started crying all over again, and she couldn't control how loud it was very much, anymore.

Emiline listened as more tears flooded out the other girl. Clearly she was upset, and not wanting to come out from the toilet cubicle. "Hey, its okay we can work through this" She said in the hopes to calm down the girl. Emiline listens as the girl mentions 'becoming an official woman' and for a moment the older girl didn't know what was being referenced, but then it hit her, the menstrual cycle. The badger girl, went back to her bag and grabbed the small bag within it which was full of sanitary products. She pulled out a two-dot flow and a three-dot flow packet and slipped it under the door. "These will help, you put them on your pants and you have to change them regularly. You first unwrap the pad then put it on, then you peel off the sticky bit and fold over the flaps so it doesn't move about" She pauses to either listen for a rustle of the unwrapping or for the girl to call out saying she didn't understand. It also made the brunette question the education of female health people were getting as if this girl was scared about a natural process, how many others would be in the exact position. If she kept hearing about girls not knowing she would march into Lears office and demand a better female and male health section.

"T-t-thank you," Lillian said with relief as she took a last rattling breath to calm down. She wiped herself again and put the toilet paper in the toilet noticing that she was going to have to flush again soon. She got another piece to dry her eyes with. Lillian could feel that bits of the toilet paper had rolled off and were on her face, but she didn't care. She was just relieved that she got help.
Lillian then bent down and retrieved the pads. They looked similar to what her mother had at home. The wrappings were just a different color. She sat the smaller-looking one on the toilet paper dispenser and began to use the bigger-looking one. She peeled off the colored bit and the small bit and put them in the garbage area.
Lillian was a bit unsure what was next and then remembered that Emiline had said to "fold over the flaps so it doesn't move about." She knew that the flaps must be the thin and really sticky area. She reached down and grabbed her underwear up and sat it on her underwear. It was on backwards, but she didn't notice. She folded them as she had been told.
Then Lillian put her underwear up. That was it? The solution was surprisingly simple. She felt like she could collapse with relief. She grabbed the other pad and rolled it up and put it in her wand pocket. Now, but not for the first time, she wondered why robes only had a wand pocket. "Thank you," she said, with almost no tears in her voice, to Emiline, "That really helped a lot." Lillian flushed the toilet about to leave.
