Avis kicked absentmindedly at a pebble in her path as she passed through a gap in the crumbling stone walls of the training pitch. The net bag of Quaffles she was toting along bumped rhythmically against the side of her leg as she strode onto the unkempt grass. Dumping the bag, the Ravenclaw surveyed the area, hoping to find a goal post free to practice a few of her shots on. A few other students were at the far end messing around on some school brooms, but other than that, the pitch seemed to be free game.

After donning her flight gloves, Avis fished a Quaffle out of the borrowed bag from the locker room and launched it a few times against one of the old walls, making an attempt at a half-hearted warm up. Good enough. She thought after some lazy underhand passes. Moments later, the girl was in the air, soaring up to the three old goal posts with the Quaffle bag looped onto her Silver Arrow's handle. The girl cocked her head, trying to figure out a good course of action for drills.

It'd been a week since the last game of the season and Avis had found herself itching to get back on a broom already. Of course, team practices were over until the fall but getting in solo reps was always encouraged. Plus as a starter with just one season of experience, the Ravenclaw was still watching her tail for competitors waiting to edge her out of the spot.

Unfortunately for her, solo training as a Chaser was difficult, if not a bit boring. Making a few shots meant gathering up one's own Quaffles afterward with no one to block or catch them and it got tedious quickly. Avis sighed, gazing forlornly at the empty posts. She'd asked Maisie to come knowing she had some Keeper experience but her friend had seemed rather busy with her most recent sewing project and the teammates she'd seen in the common room were busy with last minute Sunday afternoon homework so much to her chagrin, Avis decided to go at it alone.

Quaffle in hand, the Ravenclaw flew out a few meters and zipped back in at an angle. A gradual turn put her in a parallel position to the left post and Avis cocked back her arm, throwing hard as she soared past. She watched with satisfied eyes as the Quaffle was blasted through the circular opening and landed with a thump in the grass. Only 20 more reps to go. A pass-by shot was always fun to execute but proved tricky when coming in from the left as a right handed Chaser. Definitely a good move to perfect for next season.

After using all the Quaffles in the bag, Avis found herself back on the grassy pitch, gathering up her balls for another round. She sighed. This was going to be a long session alone.
