Dahlia's muscles were at the point of giving out as she felt the tap on her shoulder. "Hi! I'm Dahlia." The girl's response came before she even turned her head, hands dropping from the boat. "No, actually. The boat has developed a mind of its own." She snorted. Her pride would suffer if she accepted assistance but, then again, Dahlia's dancer build was not meant for heavy lifting. She could try to cast the Levitating Charm but, embarrassingly, she was still not confident in that spell.
Public feats of failure in consideration, Dahlia turned back to Jay, eyes immediately landing on the rainbow hair. Was that the coolest thing she had ever seen? Absolutely. "I love your hair! Did you dye it yourself?" The witch's grip on the canoe loosened fully, distracted. She absolutely had to dye her hair now. Rainbow streaks would be perfect or red, perhaps... Purple was also a viable option. She had already committed to a hair change that had a high likelihood of parental displeasure. What was one more?
The presence of two others returned her mind to the task at hand. "Yes," she admitted, "Help would be amazing." It functioned as a response to Jay, an answer to Ophelia's question, and an affirmation of Denisse's suggestion in a way that delighted the girl internally.
With a hum, her gaze flicked to an empty space on the floor approximately two meters from the stack of boat bases. There seemed to be sufficient space to work without needing to move the boat so far. Dahlia did not have great confidence in the group's ability to carry heavy objects for extended periods of time. Her fingers gripped the edge of the canoe tightly, already slipping. "Let's go there?" She lifted a hand to point towards the spot.
Out of the three who had surrounded her, Dahlia only recognized Ophelia from having met her in the common room. Dahlia had a good impression of the witch: collaborative, amicable, and smart enough not to take what Dahlia says as fact. She would make a skilled boat building teammate, or so the witch thought. "Let's go!" The Gryffindor offered both her and Denisse a small smile in invitation. Her gaze lingered on the other groups to see if they had begun. "I don't know about you but, personally, I think we'll win." The comment slipped from her lips without second thought.

When Dahlia asked if her hair was dyed Jay snorted and turned her hair neon green as a response, she loved being able to do that now.
When they got to desired spot Jay lowered the canoe down, there were two other girls with them now, Jay knew one of them, Ophelia. She had met her in the library once. Jay had been yelling at someone.
The other girl she didn’t know but has seen her around, if she had introduced herself Jay hadn’t heard. How could anyone expect her to focus surrounded by this much sparkle and colour?
”Although my original hair is dyed” Jay turned her hair back to its normal pink and brown “I did the bleach and the dye myself” She laughed at the memory.
Three in the morning, bathroom sink had become pink and Jay knew she would be scolded but when had that ever stopped her? Her hair faded back to the rainbow colours as she started looking at the supplies to transform the boat.
“I can dye and bleach hair, my friend asks me too sometimes” she turned to Dahlia and thought about what colour she would look good with.
Her hair already looks really good, I wonder if she did it herself… a dark coloured peekaboo or a tint would look good on her
“A darkish tint or a peekaboo would look good on you” Jay had a habit of becoming a hair critic whenever someone said anything relating to hair “darker colours would look good with your tone and your hair colour is already really dark so you don’t wanna fry it with bleach since it looks so healthy”
her hair is so pretty I just wanna style it!
When Jay bleached her hair she had done it quite badly, she had killed it and it had gone all frizzy and knotty so she had made it her mission to fix it.
She had. When she grew her hair out she used a different method to apply and use the bleach. In the end wasn’t as bad, her hair still had some damage as expected but it was so much better than last time.
Not gonna use chemical bleach ever again
Yes, hardcore chemical bleach. Not the best choice of hair product but being a seven year old gave you an excuse.
“I am pretty good at dyeing hair and not completely killing it” it has been a hobby of hers for ages and now that she was here, she knew how to dye her own hair “It’s a good skill to have, I can dye my own hair once it fades, not that I really need to”
Since Jay was a Metamorphmagus she could change her appearance at will so she didn’t have to dye hair but the dye was seventy percent of the fun.
“Anyways, how are we gonna decorate this bitch?” Jay tapped the boat with her boot, Jay liked the idea of having it multiple colours, pride flag colours mainly “any ideas?” she prompted.

There were banners of all shapes and colours scattered throughout the castle. While Fawkes herself wasn't part of the community yet, she was no stranger to it. Multiple of her cousins were part of the community and growing up around them meant she had gone to various parades as well with them. She would happily consider herself a straight ally and support anyone who was part of the community.
About a week earlier, posters for the float building were posted everywhere. Forget just on the notice boards, they were in every corridor and room. It was hard to miss it. She went to sign ups and wrote her name alongside a few other first years. She went down on the afternoon of June 13th to the boathouse to start to build the floats. She looked around looking at everything that was set up for today. The tables with tons of food spread out in all colours of the rainbow, the colourful boats all scattered around either waiting to be decorated or in the process of being decorated, and the decorations everywhere. They had gone all out with this and she was excited to start working on her float. But first? Food.
She made her way over the large spread of food having a look over what all was there. She began to take one of each item to taste, finding a under a tree to enjoy the food. The flavours were amazing and well suited for the summer month. The fresh fruit was refreshing and the deserts were just the thing she needed for energy. Feeling a fresh wave of excitement hit her, she quickly ate the rest of her snacks before making her way to the float assigned to her group.
As she went over she made sure to grab a bunch of things to decorate the float with. She first looked around for the straight ally flag, grabbing it from the tons of flags there. Up next were feathers. She picked a bunch of them in various colours. She grabbed a bunch of glitter, streamers, balloons, paint and whatever else she could carry in her arms. Finally she walked over to where the boat was.
She reached the boat and began to set down all the stuff she had carried over. Carefully, she placed the things down one by one, making sure it wasn't in the way of their work. One of her group members was already here. He appeared to be painting the boat with some sort of white? She tried to think if she could recall the names. Ehhh pri-prime...primer? Yeah it was primer. It was used before painting if she wasn't wrong. Though she couldn't recall ever using it for painting wood since they usually changed it with magic. Her own room back home had been painted using magic a few years back. Had the added bonus of not needing it to dry and there wasn't any of that paint smell either. Oh well. She wasn't the most sure of how to paint wood so she decided to wait.

Blue in English, Red in KoreanEun-ji hadn’t expected to attend any more social gatherings this year. While she wholeheartedly supported the cause, she was not particularly fond of mingling and pretending to be interested in making new friends. And yet, here she was. She even recolored one of her ballet practice outfits to match the theme too. Why? The reason was embarrassingly simple. Because a certain Slytherin asked her to.
The start of their last school year at Hogwarts was rocky to say the least. The two of them felt somewhat distant then, as if Hana was always just out of reach…and she let him. Fortunately, things were looking much less bleak now. Hana was actually proactively asking to leave her stubborn solitude and to join him in things he wanted to do. First the internship, then the promise of a special flower at the ball, and now this. The young Ravenclaw was too cowardly to repay in kind, no matter how much her heart longed to, but her answer to his inquires, was always a yes. Whether he noticed it or not, she wasn't sure, but Eun-ji found it progressively harder to say no to him. She even let a few personal things slip out here and there. Fragments that she swore to always keep guarded behind her cold stone walls. It was scary how much power Hana unknowingly held over her and she was not about to tell him.
That being said, Eun-ji still made sure to remain somewhat level headed. She allowed herself the comfort of knowing the rogue enjoyed her company but she refused to mistake it for anything greater. She made it her daily goal to keep reminding herself that she was not special. At least not in a way, her treacherous heart sometimes yearned to be. Well, in theory that is. In reality, the mere idea of being in a real relationship with him, or anyone else, terrified her. How could she possibly drag someone into the wreckage her life's become? She was not selfish enough to do so. Her grandparents tolerated very little. They approved of even less and people, who earned their disapproval, had a habit of having a rather tragic fates. Well…I can at least celebrate love from the distance. The witch thought to herself as she arrived at the lake, finally taking in the scene.
Somehow, she wasn’t surprised when she found out this particular event was Aly’s idea. It suited her well and the young ballerina genuinely hoped she had fun organizing it. Hopefully, there would be no troublemakers for this one. The thought came to her instinctively, even more so since she was waiting for one such troublemaker herself. Then again, Eun-ji didn’t think Hana would actually intentionally do anything to ruin the event even if he decided to cause a little mischief. He could come across as careless at times, but she knew better. The rogue was handful but not cruel. Sometimes, rarely, his words came in with a stinging bite but even then, the witch knew he did so unintentionally. The same couldn’t be argued for her. While not proud of the fact, and most people didn’t know, she was well aware that when she started spitting poison, she was going in for a kill. Luckily, this was no place nor time for that particular quality to make appearance. This was a celebration after all.

Henry was in his own little world as he focused on the task at hand - the muggleborn clearly had no concept that one could have simply asked one of the older students to change the color of the boat with magic. Occasionally he paused to eat a grape between brush strokes and quietly sang Put Your Records On to himself while he worked, being careful not to splatter paint on his clothes. "Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song, you go ahead, let your hair down..." He mumbled, too shy to sing very loudly at all. Merlin forbid anyone actually heard him.
You know the feeling, when you suddenly realize you're not as alone as you thought you were?
Yeah, well, when he felt like the boat was adequately covered, he stepped backwards to wipe the beads of sweat from his brow and take a breath while admiring his work. That's when the looming sense of dread hit him, that sudden realization that he was being silently perceived. The boy whipped around so fast he nearly upended the bucket of primer all over his pants and shoes, and he stared at the girl who had come up to his boat. Initially, he looked incredibly startled, like a mouse that had stumbled across a cat, but after a second or two he forced a sheepish smile to try and avoid hurting her feelings and help her feel welcome.
"Oh! Hi! Um..." He looked down to double check he didn't have any paint on his hands. He frowned to himself and pulled out his wand, muttering a quiet Scourgify to remove the tiniest speckles of primer on his wrist and wiped lingering forehead sweat from his palm onto his trousers, before holding his hand out to Fawkes. "I'm Henry. You brought stuff to help! That's great! I wasn't sure what all to grab. Didn't want to make any big decisions before we all were here. Uh... so yeah."
He glanced at the flag and his smile turned much more genuine, his blue eyes crinkling at the corners, finally letting out a breath, "Oh, nice! You're an ally? That's awesome! I well... I think I'm gay... still kinda in the process of figuring that out. Must've missed the flags while I was grabbing supplies. Anyway, it's nice to meet you."

In what universe did anyone ever see him, and think ' wow that is a straight guy'? Growing up muggle, he was aware enough of Pride month and it's importance. Though growing up in Borehamwood, you didn't get many massive parades compared to the ones nearest to the main city. Regardless, he truthfully hadn't participated in much of the activities that followed pride month. Having little interest in celebrating with others just because their dating pool is larger- or comfortably nonexistent. There was just one primary reason why he was here when he saw the errand being promoted to make boats. Because of a certain Ravenclaw girl he had a soft spot for - and not just because she often lets him drag her to places.
He had also invited Jack, but after talking with him, Hanako managed to convince him to come at a later time. That way, Hanako could spent some time with Eun-ji. Burnetts sudden intrusion in Hanakos life years ago had evidently cut the time Hanako usually spent with Eun-ji. Claiming his relationship with Eun-ji was dangerous or whatever. Ridiculous - at the time. Now Hanako had to admit to himself Jack was right. Which is why Hanako had been making attempsts to get to know the Ravenclaw in a manner that would blur lines between what they agreed to be. Even if he couldn't define exactly what that meant.
The memory of their talk resurfaced as he passed by the food table first, reaching out for a single celery stick with indifference and giving it a few bites. Scanning the food table, he ends up picking what looked like an ube muffin though not taking a bite of it. He scanned around the event area briefly, landing his eyes on a familiar face that brought a grin to his face. If Eun-ji directed her attention towards his walking form, he would wave, speeding up to catch up to where she was.
" So .... was breaking off the mission a solo sort of mission? Was the poor guy in on it too? Did he..." Hanako attempted his best to keep a smile on his face despite feeling the drop of his stomach. " Knew about .. us?"
"Well...let's just say he had no choice but to cooperate?" Eun-ji answered hesitantly ""Umm...we didn't really talk about my life at Hogwarts."
" Hey hey hey! You came! Never doubted it for a second" he joked with a smile. " And my, don't you clean up well. Well - always do, don't you? Is this from your own closet or is it a recommendation from the hag?" he asked, with a smirk. " That's quite a lot of white though. You're not worried about getting paint on you?"

Denisse remained quiet but listened to every word with great attention. This girl was not familiar with being in the middle of the group because Denisse usually stayed at the corner parts of the room to watch the others. Surprising feelings of belonging entered the heart of Denisse when Denisse placed her hands on the canoe alongside the hands of the other girls.
Materials for the decoration were spread across the grounds near the wooden canoe. Jars of glitter and rolls of long paper ribbons were sitting near the colorful paintbrushes. The sight of the decorations felt overwhelming but also brought excitement. Denisse reached out for the small pot of dark blue paint. "Maybe we could start with the base," she said softly, the noise of the boathouse almost overpowered her voice. "Before we add other colors to the boat,"
Denisse smiled a little while cleaning the glitter from her fingers.
"Let's put every kind of pride flag in our boat and maybe a unicorn or a mermaid with rainbow hair as our figure-head,"

Blue in English, Red in KoreanIt was embarrassingly easy to spot Hana in the crowd. Granted, she was actively searching for him, but Eun-ji had a sneaking suspicion she would notice him just as quick even if that wasn’t the case…As though an invisible thread kept constantly pulling her in his direction.
“Hey,” the young ballerina welcomed the boy with a smile… soft and exactly appropriate amount where Hana’s always seemed bright enough to light up the room. People often mistook her restraint as indifference but the rogue should know better than that by now. In reality, she was just as happy to see him, if not more. “Oh, I wouldn’t dare stand you up. I would never hear the end of it.” She quickly adapted to his playful attitude, trying to hide the slight blush creeping up her cheeks at his compliment.
“Well thank you. You don’t look half bad yourself.” If he wanted to make her nervous, Eun-ji was going to pay in kind. It was an honest truth anyway. “This one is mine.” Eun-ji bit back a laugh. Ah, somebody else calling her grandmother a hag. How delightful! “It’s just one of my older ballet practice clothes. I simply recolored the skirt to fit the theme.” She clarified, absentmindedly pinching the tule fabric of her skirt between her fingers “And don’t worry about the top. Contrary to popular belief, I’m not afraid to get my hands…or clothes, dirty.” She added, her tone laced with a subtle mischievousness. Was there a double meaning? Yes? Did she want Hana to catch onto it? Not necessarily. Quite frankly, she was just being careless again.
To save herself dwelling on the thought, Eun-ji nodded towards one of the boats. “Now tell me, what do you want to do to the poor boat?”

" Oh, that's for sure" He laughed in response to her suggestion that she'd never hear the end of it if she stood him up. That made him somewhat giddy to hear such a thing. As if they had made a little promise to show up. If it wasn't planned, she wouldn't have used words like 'stand up' right? This felt a lot different than the times they had planned to meet up for their.. thing- before. " Best not to stand up to the guy you see often during healing internship shifts hm? Smart, smart. I would've been pouting for weeks. Thought I wonder how you'd appease me if that were to ever happen" He says in retort, the tease in his tone feeling light.
" Oh, well- tell me something I don't know" he joked with a laugh at their compliment. He let out an impressed hum at the explanation of her dress. " Oh, a little DIY huh? Nice. Certainly suits the occasion." When she answered his question about being worried about her dress, he smirked and laughed lightly, shaking his head. " Oh darnnn " he says in evident jest in mock frustration, " Missed opportunity for me to offer this thing for you if you spilled paint on you" he pinched the fabric of his long-sleeved shirt. " Oh well - you might look good with a little bit of paint on you actually" he joked, even if he knew the answer to that was a definite yes.
" Ah er… well it looks like its in need of a major make-over… though I haven't really thought of how to decor. I'm more of a minimalist guy but hey I brought this along", given that he had finished his celery stick in between his conversation with her, his hand only held the ube muffin. He took out a small pen and notebook from his pocket and shaked it in front of her. " Heh- brought this along to sketch out ideas. So we don't lose energy changing or messing stuff up hm?" he says, unaware his perfectionism was just oozing out of him" Anyway -you're better at drawing than me so I thought of brainstorming with you first before doing anything. So - ube muffin, precious?" he offered. He did take it for her after all.

Blue in English, Red in KoreanEun-ji let out a soft amused huff that wasn’t quite a laugh, but it was more than most people ever managed to get from her. “Of course, I was not sorted into Ravenclaw for nothing.” She tossed her hair over one shoulder, feigning an air of arrogance. Then again, she was proud of being chosen for that particular house, so it was not an entirely misplaced gesture.
There was a mischievous glint in in her eyes upon hearing Hana’s remark about appeasing him. “Oh, wouldn’t you like to know?” The witch teased despite not having a faintest idea herself. “Well, who knows…maybe you’ll get to find out someday.” Someday… As if she automatically assumed there will still be them in any way shape or form, even with the graduation date hanging above their heads like a sharp blade, ready to sever all connections. Deep down, she knew they were likely to part ways and she’d never hear of him again, but her heart remained stubbornly unwilling. She wasn’t ready for that ending. Not yet anyway.
“It was hardly a praiseworthy undertaking but I’m glad you are impressed.” The Ravenclaw retorted lightheartedly at Hana’s appreciation of her creativity. It truly hardly taken her any effort but she’d be lying if she wasn’t chuffed by his response. At the mention of lending her his shirt, Eun-ji couldn’t help but chuckle quietly. “How very gentlemanly of you.” She teased good naturedly. “I promise to take you up on the offer if necessary.” Could she make it happen and steal the shirt somehow? What the hell are you thinking, Lee Eun-ji?! A wave of shame washed over her body almost immediately. It was so unlike her to even consider such thing. What a horrifying thought! For sure, it was Hana’s attitude, which made her think that way. Like the coward she was, the witch decided to blame the boy instead.
Luckily, the conversation soon shifted towards the boat decorations. A decisively much safer topic. “I’m not a fan of going overboard either.” She shrugged at his comment about being a minimalist. Her life was messy enough, her art didn’t need to be. She was also pleasantly surprised at Hana’s decision to bring a sketch book. Eun-ji often carried one herself but didn’t think to do so today. “Oh...Good thinking.” She said with a genuine smile. Her own perfectionist side positively purring at the suggestion as she took the sketchbook from him. “I’ll try not to disappoint.” And judging by the determination settling in her eyes, it was clear she meant it.
Looking at Hana’s second offering however, Eun-ji shook her head apologetically. “Thank you but I don’t actually like sweets all that much. I also have to watch my sugars.” The latter part probably sounded ridiculous, considering how tiny her waist already was but that was ballerinas for you. They were never happy, when it came to their weight and Eun-ji was no exception. “Now...what do you think of using flowers?”
