Fly Like a Rocketeer

And of course!
Everything happened all at once! Which, naturally, Colin thought, is the ideal and most opportune moment for what he considered an act of "ruleshaping". Not exactly bending the rules. And most certainly not actually breaking the rules!
Rules were clearly intended for those who didn't know any better. Colin smirked. Of Colin knew better!
He grumbled a bit when he heard Silas booing him from the bench. Grr. But at least Cece had enough sense to cheer on a fellow ophidian!
At least the action was fast! Brooms zooming! Quaffle grabbing! And! Best of all: some sneaky debroomification! Leaving the quaffles to the pros --- the Bludger Squad scored ten, thanks to Olivia! --- Colin set his sights on Ava. No, not that Ava! Though he wouldn't mind blatching her as well!
He caught the faint sound of something not quite right! Just as he began to maneuver Vailerama down towards the opposing player, he twisted to the side just enough! Blatch evaded! "Can't catch me Manjunath!" As he sped towards his target, he heard Paul the Bravest Gryffindor shouting his name!
He took a quick glance over his shoulder just in time to see the boy deflect a wicked doppelbeater over towards some poor girl. "Thanks laddie-o! A butterbeer for ye later!" he called out as he made his killer turn straight into Ava!
"Oof!! So sorry aboot that lassie! Relax! It really helps when ye smack the ground!" he shouted after the tumbling Skyrider!
"McCoire! Penalty lap!" he heard the umpire shout. Hmff. That wasn't part of the plan! Oh well! he thought. Flying is flying!
"Oi! Manjunath! Race me around the pitch! Make up for yer stunning miss, lassie!"

If the raven expected her bench to give her the same warm welcome the opponent's did, she was dead wrong.
Neither of the snakes sitting besides her seemed too keen on conversing, one sparing just a short sentence (@Richard de Montmorency), the other being a bit more generous with his words but exposing himself to be an arrogant, self-serving prick (@Silas Norwood). Meanwhile, the benched gryff said nothing at all (@Alice Wang). Needless to say, a grimace soon graced Sabrina's own face, emphasised with a heavy eye roll ending with her gaze on the skies and far from her bitter company. 'Tough crowd,' she muttered, her hand retracting, not having shaken any of theirs.
'Wohoo, you go girls!' she exclaimed, jumping up from her seat when the two beaters' bats (@Dido Bleakbane, @Ophelia Vanderbilt) hit the bludger with a deafening bang, sending it towards the blonde snake. Unfortunately, the lovely motion got rudely interrupted by one of the opponent beaters, the blow redirected to one of their own: a small, fragile looking chaser. Wincing but not diversing her gaze, Sabrina was ready to see her plumadge to the ground, pleasantly surprised when that proved not to be the case. 'Oof that was rough, but YOU HANDLED IT SO WELL! DON'T GIVE UP, GO GET 'EM!' hands cupping her mouth, she joined the chorus of reassurance and encouragement sung for their unshakable teammate (@Persephone Grimsbane).
Who unfortunately soon took the fall was their seeker at the hands of none other but the older snake their beaters targeted just a moment ago, 'Oh come on! That was so unnecessary - why target small girls, huh? Pick someone your size next time!' she shouted after the penalised lad (@Colin McCoire).banner made by Ava Lynn

Fly Like a Rocketeer

As the game began Olivia flew through the air, the wind in her hair and the cool breeze refreshing her. She looked around before heading straight for the Quaffle, one could argue she was a bit too confident for her first game. But like any other sport the adrenaline was immense and she was locked in, focusing only on one thing, getting the Quaffle and scoring.
It wasn't long till she saw Persephone holding the Quaffle in her arm. Come on Olivia get your head in the game, she thought as she flew over attmepting to intercept it. She didn't pay much attention to her surrounding as she felt something hit her hard on her leg. She couldn't figure out what she had hit or what hit her but it hurt enough to make her whince, distracting just enough her for the Quaffle to be passed swiftly to Max who managed to score some points.
She sighed but Olivia hadn't lost hope she headed straight for the quaffle once again unfortunately the same thing occured, she couldn't get to it, she hated feeling useless her team were currently relying soley on her.
On top of that she couldn't stand to see her friendly rival Max doing better then her, she had had enough and went full force for the quaffle grabbing it and scoring a point. Maybe all she needed was some rival like motivation and a reason to prove herself. She was finally on a roll as she got hold of the quaffle once again, heading straight for the hoops. She had lined her shot up perfectly and threw the quaffle but was blocked in the last second by Danielle. "Aw come on" she seethed to herself
“There you have it folks, Max's scored 50 points for The Skyriders and Olivia 10 for The Bludger Brigades!” she heard Tatiana say. She had to do better she couldn't be this crap but she didn't loose hope, she was willing to keep trying.

round 1

Avery was on edge the entire game thus far. It was going to be an interesting match considering the pitch mainly consisted of first years minus Colin, herself, and a possible second year or two. The game was decently matched, but how long that would stay the same, Avery didn’t know. What she did know was that she was eager and itching to get on the pitch and lead her team to victory. But that wasn’t the case for now. Now she had to focus on helping her team from the bench.
“Nice job Colin! Too bad you got caught!” Avery called out as she smiled. One person down, too many to go.
“There we are. See how he did that? If he had just been slightly less obvious about his attack, he probably would have gotten away with it. That moderator has the eyes of a hawk. Better watch out for her.” Avery commented to her teammate, Derek, whom she was currently working with in strategizing.
A sigh escaped Avery’s lips as the young first year Avery believed was named Briar didn’t spot the snitch yet. She knew that feeling as she was a Seeker for the Gryffindor team and she herself had had little luck in the past trying to find the snitch. The little golden ball could be such a menace at times and a best friend at other points times.
“Good try, Briar! I’m sure you’ll get it next time!” Avery called out to the younger girl.

Fly Like a Rocketeer

The game had just started. The Skyriders, which was her team, as planned, were on their brooms giving their best. The girl, too, focused on finding the snitch. She saw the seeker from the opposite team, who was searching for the snitch. She remembers seeing her often on her way to classes or events. Unfortunately, both seekers failed to find even a glance at the flying golden ball.
The girl was so focused on looking for the snitch that she did not notice a literal human was flying towards her, knocking her out of her broom. Everything was so fast and slow at the same time. The Ravenclaw knew she was falling; she closed her eyes, ready to feel the crack of her bones. Her first game as a seeker, and she was already going to have a trip to the medical wing. She waited and waited for the fall to end, but it felt like she was reaching the ground slowly. And suddenly she was on a broom again.
Opening her eyes, she saw herself behind Tatiana, who dropped her off on the stands. Still a bit shocked, she muttered a small, "Thank you." The game just started, and the seeker was already out. The guilt was eating her alive. How is she going to face her teammates? They must be really mad at her. Making a mental note to apologise for her poor skills, the girl sat down and watched the game.

I was so scared to go onto the pitch that I had to be pushed on by my other benched teammates. Our first-string seeker was down, so I had to fill her place. I looked at the sky above the pitch with fright. It was an intense match. Bludgers and Quaffles were flying everywhere that they were just a blur. I gulped. I looked back down at the school broom I borrowed. It was my first unofficial Quidditch match.
I mounted my broom and kicked hard on the ground, in search for the Snitch. I got too concentrated on finding it that I nearly got knocked off my broom by a Bludger, missed by inches above my head. I felt the super quick whizz. I dived towards the ground, as I had seen something glistening near the stands below. Suddenly, my teammate called my name. I turned around to see a Bludger heading right towards me. I pulled my broom upwards, but the Bludger hit the brush, and my broom spun for something like 10 seconds straight. I was very dizzy, but still I gripped the broom handle. However, after this long spin, I lost the Snitch.
I wanted to find the Snitch so badly. I scanned the pitch again. The game got even more intense. I took a deep breath and flew around again in search of the Snitch.

Lily had been a little late to her match, she had been caught up with some too urgent work all of a sudden, and even though it didn't matter much since she was just a second-string keeper, she felt actually sorry for being late to the match. Her cousin, Briar, was there, as a chaser. She couldn't help but admire her flying skills although she was just a beginner. One of her friends, Denise, was also present in her team, as a beater.

Lily sat on the bench, still thinking about what had just happened to her. She was distracted almost the whole time. She barely noticed when the umpire gave a penalty lap to one of her teammates.
Shaking herself away from the thoughts, Lily's eyes followed her cousin, who looked really focused on finding the snitch. "First time she is focusing on something other than music," she snickered.
And then her attention shifted to one of the other girls of the opposite team. Her name was... Ophelia? Something like that. Who cared? She decided to ruin her attention, and even though she felt bad, she did, because in the end, she was competitive as well. "Goodness, Ophelia, is that how you play Quidditch? I think my cousin can play better than that, and he is younger than you." Obviously, she was just making it up, but who knew?

Silas was already bored. It was hard not to be, especially from the bench and when the violence was minimal. There needed to be something encouraging him to have more investment if he wanted any hope at being interested, so he picked someone he at least vaguely knew on the opposite team to boo. That poor soul was Colin. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for Silas, the older boy had supporters on his own team, and Silas was pretty sure that his words had no impact as a result. Whatever, at least he was having slightly more fun than just sitting here idly.
One of the boys on his team scored several goals, earning him an approving nod — while Silas wanted to play for the sake of his own entertainment as well as to enjoy some of that glory for himself, he also wanted his team to win, and this brought them closer to that. What didn’t bring them closer to victory was the Skyriders’ Beaters failing to get a successful hit off — one of their own Chasers got hit by a redirected Bludger instead. Silas’s hand gripped his broom tightly, ready to spring into play if needed, but the girl did not fall. Disappointing, part of him said. “Shame, I thought she were goin’ to be the firs’ ter go,” he said almost sadly, casting a sly glance in the direction of the girl who had seemed disappointed with the reactions she had received from her fellow bench-warmers. She seemed like she would be easy to bother.
There was limited carnage overall, though not none. One of Silas’s teammates tried to blatch Colin, which was probably what Silas himself would have attempted, too, but it wasn’t a success. Colin then proceeded to show himself as one of the main threats when he knocked the Skyriders’ Seeker off of her broom. Well, that wasn’t great. Their second-string didn’t exactly leap up, either. “Go on, then,” he urged, physically pushing her in the right direction. “This is what you’re ‘ere for, innit?” He rolled his eyes.

Fly Like a Rocketeer

Danielle saw the play form several seconds before the shot was taken. From where she was situated in front of the hoops, she could see clearly all that was happening on the field. There were quick bursts of color in motion, players shooting past each other in their hunt for the Quaffle. Though still tired, her mind was completely focused on the game. She watched as the ball went from hand to hand until it reached Olivia.
Suddenly, there was a tight knot in her stomach, Olivia seemed sure of herself. It wasn't usually a comforting thought when dealing with an opponent's Keeper. Taking a deep breath, she tightened her hold on the broomstick and waited. With the morning breeze blowing at her, she forced herself to stay in place in front of the rings. Her mind knew what she needed to do. Stay cool. Stay in place. Make it difficult to get around her.
She got ready as Olivia came closer. Then the shot was made.
There was no hesitation as the Quaffle zipped through the air towards her goal. With swift motions, she did the Starfish and Stick. Her grip on the broomstick never left. Everything else in her body stretched out to its limits, becoming one continuous, living wall that spanned the entirety of the face of the hoops.
For just an instant, she really believed she could pull it off. The angle looked right, the defense was sound. She knew she'd predicted everything correctly. Then Olivia's shot took an angle that was not what Danielle had been expecting, realization struck a millisecond too late. Danielle dove, extending her limbs to their maximum reach. Her fingers reached for the Quaffle. It felt like she was almost there.
Almost. The ball flew between her extended fingertips with only the smallest of margins separating the two. An immediate flurry of movement came after, as the Quaffle passed unimpeded through the hoop behind her.
Goal.
The noise sounded especially loud. Danielle didn't move for a second, hanging awkwardly on her broom as she saw the Quaffle fly through the hoop. Disappointment quickly followed.
Not completely disappointed. But just disappointed for being so close to saving the ball.
Carefully, she lifted herself into an upright position, taking care to settle back into her proper place on her broom. For a brief moment, her shoulders drooped, then they stiffened and she stood tall again. "Well," she muttered. "Could have gone better."
