A tiny thing... Pet

A strange flutter came at Teresa heart as she passed the shop. She loved animals her days were usually spent doing something closely related to them. Her older cousin who went to hogwarts had a pygmy puff such a strange ball of fluff. Teresa enjoyed playing with whenever she came home. 'A peak won't hurt..'.Teresa quickly left her mothers side slowly entering the shop as her mother was busy looking at her new supplies.

It was a magnificent sight. Rows of pets all different and all magical. Many kids some older than her walked about looking at the different beautiful animals all around. She really wanted a pet, Someone she could hold and care for while away from her life back at Ellon. Teresa saw a kind looking women she was organising some pet treats and looked up at me and ushered her close. Teresa quickly walked over. The women grinned and spoke, "Hello there! My name is Anita me and my husband Ernest run this shop. I see you must be looking for a friend to take home? Here take this and look around see if anything catches your eye."

I smile up at the women and take the cookie she handed me. It was a sugar cookie dusted with white sticky sugar the kind I loved. I started walking through the seemingly endless rows of owls and cats and weird looking toads. Suddenly a rattling noise caught my attention. I kneeled down to look. Near a sunny path by the window was a terrarium. Resting on a dark piece of wood was probably in her opinion the cutest little thing to exist. It was small very small perhaps a baby still but it looked prehistoric. it had elongated occipital spines that looked like a tiny crown, its tail ringed with sharp, keeled armor. As if sensing someone was looking at him it looking dramatically at the sky longingly. "Your so beautiful" I say enamored not noticing a man before he rests his hand on a shelf nearby. He laughs a hearty warm tone that instantly makes someone feel happy.

I look up still holding the half eaten cookie and wiping of my face that was covered in it. I looked up and spoke to the man, "Hello sir are you the nice ladies husband?" The man chuckled and responded,"Hello kid, Your right you must have met her seeing the cookie in your hand. The names Ernest and oh! look at that! you met one of our newest additions." He kneels down beside me. Pointing at the terrarium."This little thing is a Girdled Lizard, A Sungazer, straight from sub-Saharan Africa. Tough little things. He dug that burrow himself" He pointed at the small sculpted tunnel in the corner."He wasn't born long ago just in June. Spends half his day just staring upward like he's expecting a second sun to appear." Right on cue, the lizard suddenly broke its noble posture, blinked, looped its body into a tight circle, and clamped its jaws firmly onto its own spiny tail, rolling over slightly in the sand.

I look up enamored by this little thing. "He is wonderful...Could I adopt him?" The man hummed and got up extending a hand to help me up as well."Well kid, He is silly thing, isn't he? But full of character. Treat him well, and he’ll give you twenty years of loyalty. You seem like you need that" He gently got the terrarium along with other supplies just as my mom entered. She sighed asking,"Teresa! There you are! I have been looking for you...Oh look at that seems like you ended up choosing your gift after all" I nodded happily. She smiled and pulled out my purse with the galleons handing it to me. Anita was behind the counter and smiled"Ah you got the drama king himself! Give him a good home will you?" I nod and hand over eighteen gleaming gold Galleons.

'We are going to be best friends'.
Looking down the small thing tilted his head and Teresa swore it smiled mischievously.
