XXXXX𝓝o stranger to auditory and visual hallucinations, Meiyu failed to decipher what was real and what had been a fragment of her imagination. Her state had worsened with the arrival of sleep, struggling to succumb to sleep once more, likely attributed to the plummeting stress of her grades worsening months ago and the failed efforts to bring them up once more. Her mother had reaffirmed the significance of maintaining an O average and accepting nothing less, her attention shifted to studying tirelessly each night, frustration growing each night as she perfected her casting, her note taking, sacrificing sleep in instances where her other duties came into play.
The throbbing of her head had deteriorated her far more than she wanted to admit, ignoring it for days prior, deducing it to nothing worth a trip to the Hospital Wing — rather being seen dead than trailing her way there.
What she saw before her was real, she would bet her life on it. The figure appeared with such an accurate depiction of the man from that evening, it had truly petrified her, a fear that the dead had risen being plausible than reality and the inability of it. Meiyu brought the palms that she bad believed to be stained red to her face, concealing her eyes from the deception before her. Tears spilling consistently and faint sobs omitting from her lips. All sense of reality froze before her, for once caring little if anyone had seen her, her arrival to coinciding with the conclusion of classes, the corridors becoming louder by the second — burning sensations felt on her skin as though all eyes had shifted to fixate on her. Meiyu shook her head more, disapproving that this was happening, forcing her into social suicide and faltering the image she had spent all year building.
A voice had lulled her away from the panic, only for a moment.
It called her name, voice melodic akin to a sweet angel.
It made no sense, Elena had spoken to her, the dead could not comment and the blood remained.
Her hands slowly withdrew from the concealment it brought to her vision, gazing upwards with glassy eyes, tear stained cheeks. The moonlit princess arrived to her rescue, as though a gift from the heavens herself, concern plastered across her delicately crafted features had only churned at her stone cold heart, then, her eyes trailed down, catching hues of dark red on her palms, matching the hue on her own. She had been subjected to the man too, she had contributed to his twisted fate — or worse, her blood stained hands had meant she had brought harm Elena's way. It had been a twisted game of her mind deceiving her once more, eyes blinking to ridden herself of the blurred vision consequence of her tears, yet the red remained.
"He got to you.... no... I got to you..." She wailed, lunging forward to grasp Elena by her legs, clutching her with such tightness it would only ache as she continued to sob, her body quivering and her breathing continuing to quicken. Reality interloped with delirium, her chest tightened as each second passed, gaze refusing to waver to the atrocities she had somehow committed in the minutes which passed. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I hurt you. I promised to never hurt anyone." Meiyu mumbled, her thoughts transcending into a spiral, strings of apologies spilling over and over, her gaze finally moving to look up at the Ravenclaw who appeared as pale as ever, dark circles beneath her eyes, the life seemingly drained from her beside the sign of life being blood on her fingers.
Meiyu moved with haste, pulling herself off the pathetic grasp she had on Elena's legs, reaching to elope her palms in her own, then bringing their entwined palms to Elena's face as though an attempt to revive her somehow.
"Stay strong, I will save you. I will fix this. You can't die here, I won't stand for it." She panicked, spewing any nonsense amidst the sniffles, her chest still heaving — pupils dilated as a newfound sense of urgency took place.
