Achilles and Hector

This is a private RP with @Charles Simmons

Leonard was having a good enough day.
He'd been doing a good enough job at classes, and surprisingly was able to not fall asleep during any of them. He'd been doing good enough with his social skills, despite annoying quite a few people during his stay at Hogwarts. Everything was good enough, and though usually he'd say good enough was never good enough (it had been scrawled in fat red Magic Marker on his wall since he was seven), but this time, good enough might just have been good.
Until he saw a particularly prissy Slytherin coming his way.
He didn't know the boy's name, but he did know that the dark haired coward was to be his rival. Somebody he'd rather drown in lava than be with, somebody he'd hate until the very end of time itself. The Hector to his Achilles, the Rooney to his Bueller.
"Hey! You look sad? Did the Sorting Hat admit it? You don't belong here, and you've got to go back to muggle Nursery?" He shouted, grinning. Even though the day had been just fine, it was fun to deflect all his anger and guilt onto an unsuspecting, poor peer of his.
(Leonard had a strange interpretation of the word fun.)

"Oh come on." The boy groaned in disappointment. He did not no the boy's name but he knew he never wanted to see them again. Why was it that Charles had such horrible luck. And what he said was just rude he was not a muggle. And he never would be. Instead of protecting his family name, he kept quiet. He did not want to get this guy angry. But of course, Charles's mouth did not listen to him.

"Okay were going to get one thing straight. I AM NOT A MUGGLE! And nobody I mean NOBODY assumes a Simmons is a muggle! You got that and I will defend my family's name as long as my name is Charles Simmons!" The boy covered his mouth. Why was it he could not be shy in front of a bully. Everyone else he meets he can never talk to. But with this guy, he can't control what he says.

The boy straightened his tie still feeling a bit confident. "Now if you will excuse me I need to get to class." He said firmly. He then waited for the boy to move out of his way. But as he waited his confidence depleted. And he felt like a shy little boy again. That had no power. He felt sad again as he remembered what the boy said to him the other day. His words have stuck to him like glue and actually made him feel worthless. He frowned as that painful and saddening memory pondered through his mind.

Leonard smiled, on the brink of riotous laughter. He'd done it. It being the climax of any good fight. It being the moment when his victim broke, started to yell at him and burn like the sun for whatever bull he'd said. And he'd done it so easily. Leonard had expected more of a fight from this Charles Simmons. It was always the meekest that would explode into the biggest fiery balls of fury, in his extensive experience. No matter, it had the same rush of adrenaline. Others climbed mountains, he picked on people to distract himself from his own sadness.
On one hand, he had heard of the Simmons family. What he hadn't heard was what a complete chicken their son was. Really, even Hufflepuff would have looked at him and waved him off to a knockoff online university based in Arkansas. Though, the same could be said for Leonard. But at least Leonard accepted he was scum.
"Sure, sure," he started, staying still. Leonard kept a calm demeanor. There wasn't anything, he was sure, that was as infuriating as a calm enemy. A girl had done it to him before. What was her name? Valdez? Validan? No matter. "Though, I do feel like the Nursery part is correct, no matter what. And, let's face it, your family's probably going to disown you. Getting into fights in the halls?"
He mocked disappointment, the face his mother would use when she inevitably heard of this. "That's assuming they don't already want you out of the house and on the streets."

Why was he in the same house as this kid. Maybe if they where not in the same house they would have never met. And Charles would not have to feel what it like to be bullied. But no they were and nothing would change that. And this kid really got on his nerves so maybe he was not the most adventurous or best potion master in his family. But that doesn't mean his family dose not want him. Dose it?

But the thing that got him even more mad was that he said his family did not want him and he said it so calmly. Charles clenched his fists he wanted to punch this kid. Or do anything that would make him feel pain. But he was right about one thing. His mother would be so disappointed if she found out he was getting into fights.

"Whoever you are you don't know my family." He gritted his teeth and kept his fists clenched. "And the Simmons would never disown their only child." It was clear in the tone of his voice Charles doubted himself. "Maybe your only bringing up a muggle nursery cause your from one!" Charles said regaining confidence.

As Charles gained confidence the redder his face became with rage. "So just SHUT UP!" He said wiping tears from his eyes. "Why do you pick on innocent kids. Your picking on your peers. I d know something about bullies like you though. When somebody nice learns you are a bully they would never want to be your friend." Charles said his face redder than ever. Class was going to start in a few minutes but he would be okay with being late if he stood up to this kid.

Leonard noticed the boy curl his hands into fists. While he wasn’t really looking for a physical fight, it would be pretty interesting to see what trouble they’d get into for it. And, besides, even if he wasn’t the most physically gifted, he could definitely take this paper kitten.
(Yes, Leonard knew that the correct idiom was paper tiger, but was Simmons worthy of being called that? He didn’t think so.)
He smiled, as if this were a casual conversation with an acquaintance about the weather, or perhaps the newest line of swift broomsticks. Then, he laughed. “Oh, right, you wouldn’t know who I am. I never introduced myself, how rude of me! I’m Leonard, and yes, I am from a muggle Nursery. That’s where I learned the alphabet, mate. Something you probably haven’t done.”
He noticed Simmons’ tone waver when he mentioned the absolute lie about how his parents totally wouldn’t leave him in a junkyard as soon as they had the chance. Even when he was confident, he still doubted himself.
And he was crying. Again. Jesus, he could probably make this nutter sob like an infant just by yelling about toasters.
“And yeah, I’ll admit it, you’re probably right. I’m an awful human being, and all my friends’ll leave me behind once they find out the truth. I’ll be lonely, you’ll emerge the hero, blah, blah, you win, the end. Good for you.”
He pointed in the general direction of the classroom. “By the way, mate, you better get to class. Wouldn’t want to get in trouble for being late, let alone fighting.”

Leonard... He now knew something about this boy. Even if it was only his first name. And know matter how much he wanted leonard to be wrong.

He was right about something, Charles did not belong here. And he never will he's just a nerd that was probably sorted into the wrong house. He was not brave, he was not cunning, he was not loyal.

And he was only smart because he only read books. He was also right that he would get in trouble for being late and even more trouble for starting a fight. And it was very unlikely he would emerge from all of this as the hero.

He would only be seen as the kid that is easily bullied. He tightened his clenched fist his whole face turning red.

He wanted to punch Leonard in the face. He wanted to grab something and throw it just to show how angry he was. But he remembered his mother and father, how disappointed they would be. If he started a fight they would never talk to him for years. And they probably would not want a son that starts fights. He could do nothing in this situation. So he walked around Leonard and went down the corridor to get to his class.
