OOC note: Reducio 1) While everything written is true for Dido, much is intentionally incorrect (eg: Dido is not in Ravenclaw) 2) I just want to check that the event was checked with Angel first, right?

It was going to be a marvellous day. A true highlight in Dido’s year. Hopefully.

She had been a little put out when Tina had mentioned the idea to Dido, disappointed that she herself had not suggested it first but, faced with the momentous task of assisting Tina set up the event, she had quickly gotten over her dismay and had offered to help Tina with genuine joy and excitement. Dido’s hidden hope was also that the party could heal any final hints of tension between the girls, a shared objective and amusement patching over their previous conflict.

So, that morning, Dido had woken up exactly at 6am and had quietly, sneakily crept out of the dormitory she shared with Angel, desperate not to wake the girl. Of course, Dido’s skills at being stealthy had likely improved over the weeks spent tracking Mikaela so, with held breath, she managed to leave the room without raising too much suspicion. After leaving the dungeons, she had travelled to the library to work on her gift for the Slytherin more privately.

Dido had spent a long time grappling over what to buy Angel. She had considered: a good book, as had been her parent’s default gift for children as long as she could remember; a satchel or purse of some sort just because it seemed the right sort of idea; and even a large bundle of chocolate frogs, as Dido herself would have accepted instantly. In the end, with much frustration, Dido had decided that none of these were suitable for the mystery bundled in confusion that was Miss Angel Dayes.

Thankfully, it was around then that Dido had noticed Angel’s locket and come to the instant decision that a pretty necklace would be the perfect gift for her room-mate. So, on a nerve-inducing but exhilarating moment of rule-breaking by travelling into Hogsmede with a forged permission slip, Dido had slipped into the tea shop and purchased a small handful of beautiful, shining gems which apparently would glisten and sparkle when touched by a wand. Since then, she had spent every single day twisting and fastening some of the “Blinglets” onto a chain to make what she hoped would be a lovely addition to Angel’s jewellery.

When she received Tina’s letter, she was just finishing the necklace and, with a final clip of the clasp, she tucked it into a tiny silk bag and stowed it away in her pocket before happily rushing over to the grounds to help Tina set up.

She arrived just as Tina was finishing with the balloon garland and immediately ran over to greet the girl, beaming in excitement and innocent enthusiasm.

“This is wonderful, Tina!” she cried out, before crossing over to the bag of extra decorations. Dido picked out an item, raised her wand, said, “Colorvaria!” and watched it’s hue shift to match the party’s theming. Dido didn’t look at Tina after casting the spell but she clearly imagined the girl’s face, marvelling at Dido’s excellent magic. Of course, Tina may or may not have even glanced in the Slytherin’s direction but, nonetheless, Dido was proud of her spell-casting improvement.

Angel's birthday was coming up soon and Fawkes was glad she could help with a surprise party for her. While the two hadn't started of on the best foot they had slowly become friends throughout the year. When she heard Tina was going to be in charge of planning it she knew this was about to be an amazing party. Her dorm mate was so incredibly full of energy so she was quite literally the perfect person for this.

That whole excitement shattered on June 1st. Tina, being the ever great dorm mate that she was designated her, Fawkes Chaos aka the most clumsiest person in that dormitory, to carry a two tiered cake. Tina I swear just wait till I get my hands on you. She said under her breath before sighing. Mentally cursing Tina wasn't going to solve her current problem. Right now, she had to figure out how to get the cake down from their room all the way to the grounds without dropping it.

Well there was always the levitation charm. It would be easier than carrying it by hand. First, she made sure she had all the things she was carrying down with her. Then she took a breath and casted. Wingardium Leviosa. She said loud and clear.

Her eyes lit up as the cake started to levitate. Now all she had to do was maintain the spell as she made her way down to the grounds. Luckily it was rather empty for some reason in the halls. Or maybe its cause she took a route she knew wasn't as busy.

When she reached down to the grounds she carefully landed the cake on the table that was sat there before going to Tina. Tina you madwoman why would you make me bring down such a beautiful cake??? I got lucky I was able to use the Levitation charm and not bump into anyone. Fawkes could never stay mad at Tina for long tho. Anyways what do you need me to help with?

Fawkes looked over at Dido and smiled at her, giving her a small wave. Hi there! She said before making sure the cake was safely on the table. She turned around to talk to Tina. Its still early I think we've got some time. Though uh I think some of the decorations weren't stuck properly. She pointed over to a few strings of lights that had started to fall off. Give me a second ill levitate it back up.

She just barely was able to get the fairy lights back up into place. Proud of herself, she began to go walk around to see if anything else needed to be put back into place. She was a bit in her own world at this point, adjusting things to make them straight on the table. She wondered how Seren was. She wasn't the most fond of Fawkes leaving her in the dorm alone but she hoped Seren would get used to it soon since Fawkes had to leave her alone constantly since she had class.

There was a slight breeze around the place as well. It was quite welcome in this hot summer weather. It would be nice and cool during the party that meant.

I cringed as a few fairy lights fell and Fawkes must have noticed that since she cast Wingardium Leviosa to put it back up. It must have been the cool breeze that made everything comfortable on an almost summer day like this. I saw a girl in a cute blue dress with a brown belt around the waist it was really cute. I looked down at my outfit. A cream tube top with a layered white skirt. There were some pretty platforms with gold bows paired with the outfit and it brought everything nicely together. The girl introduced herself as Winter Angelo. I haven’t seen her around the castle much but she seemed nice. ”Hi Winter! Don’t worry about being early, we need as much help as we can get!” I said in a bubbly, friendly tone. Then I realized something. I was so stupid that I forgot to get Angel down to the grounds! I don’t know why it took so long to click but I turned to the group. ”So… Basically I’ve got to go up to the owlery and send Angel a letter that she should come do here at around 6:10… She still doesn’t know to come down yet…” I said slowly. This was embarrassing oh dear… I ran to the owlery quickly to send the following letter to Angel.Dear Angel, I hope you are well! Meet me on the grounds today at 6:10! No later nor earlier! Hope to see you! - Tina I then ran back to the spot just as another person arrived….

Andddd....That person was Angel. I checked my watch. Of COURSE I lost track of time. The decor was nice, Angel arrived on time. A bunch of people just didn’t come. It wasn’t the perfect party that I imagined but I guess this would be fine? I shooed everyone-including myself behind a bush. I watched through the leaves as Angel walked in. I knew she suspected something. Honestly, if I was Angel I would have also suspected something. There was gold confetti in my pocket that I forgot to sprinkle on the table. I let Angel roam around the area for a bit while I quietly took the bag of gold stars out of my bag. They shimmered in the setting sun. I gave each girl around me a HUGE handful of stars. I thought I was going to ruin the ‘surprise’ because my heart was beating so fast. I didn’t make a sound though. I took out a post-it note out of the same purse and wrote, Once I'm finished counting down, we throw the stars up in the air as we say Happy Birthday. Ok? Ah, the pleasures of a gel-pen. No one can hear you scratching away at your paper. And you don't need an ink pot. I looked around, hoping everyone got the message. I put all of my portion of the confetti into one hand and count down from 3. Then I popped up from behind the bush and shouted, ” HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!” I smiled as the gold glitter floated around me. Though some people didn’t come, this was going to be a great night.

Fawkes looked up from her observations when she heard Tina's voice telling everyone to go behind the bushes. She squinted her eyes, did she need new glasses cause whoever was walking towards them was quite blurry. Then it hit her. It was Angel walking towards them.

She went and crouched behind one of the bushes and peaked out from the side to see what was happening. About a minute later she was shoved a handful of stars and Tina held up a note. Oh she had a pen. Fawkes needed to ask her for some one day, it would be much easier than using a quill to write. Not to mention, less spills!

She waited for the signal, watching as Angel came closer and closer to them. 3. 2. 1. At the end of the countdown Fawkes stood up and threw the stars at her. Happy Birthday Angel! She said her smile wide. She looked around at the amount of confetti scattered around. There was so much. It was definitly going to be a pain later but for now they should just enjoy the moment, looking at Angel's surprised face. Fawkes pulled out a small box she had owled from home. It had a silver necklace inside. She handed it over to Angel. Here! I hope you have a great year ahead!
